Fun little metroidvania with lovecraftian vibes.

I've played this game only for one hour... and got bored. The aesthetics are really strong, but there's no substance yet. I might give it another chance and hopefully I'll remember to update this review, but it's a shame that it takes so long to get going. I've met four enemy types and some recolors, but I've stopped paying attention because I just mash the one button and they die all the same. I've yet to encounter a boss when I would have defeated three by now in your average metroidvania. The ruins look too abstract to give a sense of direction, so I just roll the dice at forks. There's a voice rambling about the uselessness of valkyries and the corruption of men and I don't know why I should care about it yet. Why am I here again?

Playing through the resist route, after defeating Nyarlathotep and the Trapezohedron, Eshe will run to the right of the screen into the spikes and die during the narration. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do to prevent her from running into the spikes. After she dies, I'll be brought back to just before the boss battle and have to do it all over again. I've beaten the final boss twice and both times this has happened.

I enjoyed this platformer very much, but it is a bit confusing. It does not feel linear in its story telling. The upgrade portion of this game takes a little getting use to as well. I have had instances where there are so many enemies coming after you that the game gets glitchy. Its not my hardware, so I can only assume its the game. last critic would be the automatic zooming in and out as you face large bosses. The sound effects and music are on point. the contrast of colors throughout the game are appealing to the eye.

Though it is a side scroller it is very beautiful and detailed.
