A significantly worse game than Crimes and Punishments in pretty much every aspect. If you wanted superfluous minigames and extended puzzle sequences that aren't very good, it's got plenty of those. On the other hand, it is often unintentionally funny, so really it's a toss up if it's worth your time.

I would put this one somewhere in the middle of the pack of the other Sherlock Holmes games from Frogware. I enjoyed this game's story and puzzles but it's not the most compelling of the series.

I liked it. The detective parts were engaging enough and it was fun role-playing as Sherlock. It wasn't very complicated or intricate, but I can look past that, considering the game wanted to tell a story instead of being a detective simulator. However, I really didn't appreciate those god awful puzzle-platforming sections. It's obvious the game's engine wasn't made for this, so pushing around barrels and activating levers is excruciatingly slow and boring. These sections also last way to long in my opinion. [spoiler] Especially that Indiana Jones like puzzle section. Fun idea, but after a white I just wanted to get back to the case at hand. [spoiler]

Very bad sign when the first mission in the game says to "investigate Tom's home at door E", and I click every interact-able thing in the room for that to still be my mission. I can tell the pub is where I need to go next, even looking up online to see if I was going to the right door. The one with someone sitting outside it who might be homeless. "I'm not thirsty right now". At least I only paid 2 bucks for this years ago so nothing of value was lost in the likely case of Steam not wanting to refund this. Yes, I do plan to try to refund something I spent only 2 bucks on... cause it doesn't work.

Interesting detective game as a part of a series, but the game won't let me progress. I am stuck on the Chain Reaction case. [spoiler]After I find the barrels in the sewers and investigate them, a cutscene is supposed to be triggered after coming to Scotland Yard. It just won't trigger, leaving me stuck just running around.[spoiler]

I wish I could leave a "mixed" review. When this game is great, it's great. The first case is definitely the most well-rounded case with the most unique gameplay. If you liked the point n click Nancy Drew games and didn't let the moments of frustrating puzzles/plot get you down, I would super recommend this game. For the general public however I think the gameplay gets worse overall as you progress, although there are certainly interesting plot points and fun puzzles despite this. Absolute nothing ending though.

+ Authentic Detective Feeling One of the game’s strongest aspects is how it truly makes the player feel like a detective. Collecting evidence, connecting clues, interrogating suspects, and reaching the correct conclusion are all designed in a deeply satisfying way. The possibility of solving cases in multiple ways — and even reaching the wrong verdict — gives players the freedom to think for themselves. This turns the game into an experience that isn’t just “played” but actively “thought through.” + Atmosphere and Graphics The gloomy, foggy vibe of the London streets is captured brilliantly. The environment design, character models, and especially the use of lighting and shadows all contribute to the immersive atmosphere. The game engine has been improved compared to previous titles, and cinematic transitions add more depth to the storytelling. + Character Development and Dramatic Structure This time, Sherlock’s more human side is brought into the spotlight. His relationship with Katelyn shows that he’s not just a genius, but also a complex individual with emotions. This dramatic layer adds unexpected warmth and depth to the story. + Mini-Games and Gameplay Variety You’re not just gathering clues — you’ll also engage in various mini-games, tailing missions, stealth sequences, and even occasional action scenes. This balances the game’s pacing and keeps it from becoming repetitive.

Literally SOOOOOO much better than Crimes & Punishment. This game did not crash even ONCE for me (except at the very very end when the credits rolled, but that is just my pc being my pc), the voice actors (the same ones from Chapter One and The Awakened!) made me feel so much more at home in the story, and there IS AN OVERARCHING STORY! THE CASES ARE INTERESTING! THE MINIGAMES ARE INTERESTING AND VARIED! AND NONE OF THEM MADE ME WANT TO THROW MYSELF OFF OF A CLIFF! (looking very very pointedly at the bridge minigame in Crimes & Punishment). Sure, it goes quite off the Sherlock Canon but they make it work. 9/10, would have gotten 10/10 if i could punch Orson Wilde in the face.
