Honestly, the best thing about the game is the graphics. The city looks amazing! But outside of free roaming and the occasional gun battle it gets old really fast. You can VERY easily miss achievements. The puzzles really aren't that hard or even challenging, and the liberties taken with the Sherlock mythos are a plenty. That being said, the reason I don't recommend the game is because I really don't know who to recommend it to. There are plenty of better free roaming games. Fans of Sherlock Holmes may catch the occasional easter egg (City streets share names from Sherlock Holmes stories) but will still find the game to be lacking in regards to the source material. The shootout scenes are basically separate levels and can get kind of annoying. I'm not at all saying the game is trash, I just don't really recommend it unless you can get it on sale. I will extend an olive branch and say I really think the developers were onto something and wouldn't mind seeing what else they may do with the franchise.

Frustratingly opaque, game often provides too little context or logical connection between clues and deductions, this makes it feel alot like im guessing instead of actually reasoning it out. The diary i feel acts as a unjust punishment for the games lack of clarity. Whos this for player wise? Why punish the player for not figuring out something when the game is also intentionally obscure. The Imagination recreation, although creative and interesting, its hard to make out things visually and doesnt actually make a effort to tell you what youre doing. The descriptions it provides you are sometimes vague, the game rarely indicates which pieces of evidence are relevant to where or how they are connected logically. It expects you to make leaps in logic based on thin contextual clues that sherlock might intuit but the player often cant or wont.

Frogwares did an amazing job with this reboot, the cases you take on as Sherlock are fun and well written, the map is huge and beautiful. Sherlock Holmes is portrayed in such a fun style in this game, definitely has to be my favourite take on the character. is I really enjoyed running through the streets of Cordona and learning about Sherlock's childhood. This game doesn't hold your hand in terms of finding the locations you need to visit, might not be fun for everyone but I felt it adds a fun element to the game. Combat again might not e everyone's cup of tea but once I got the hang of it I started to like it. My only complaint is that some of the DLC quests are very short, I'd have liked to spend more time on them. This is one of those games that makes me sad to get to the end, I really enjoyed it. This game is well worth a try, I wish it had better reviews. I hope to see more more rebooted Sherlock games from Frogwares in the future.

A significant step up on Frogwares previous Sherlock Holmes games in terms of scope and scale. Once you get used to the open world nature of the environment as opposed to the limited environments of the previous games its far more rewarding, as are the revamped research and combat mechanics. A definite must have for fans of Frogwares games and the genre.
