This game definitely had a potential, and it would be unfair to say that it turned out to be a total trash because it didn't, but there are quite a lot of rough edges for such a small game. I only played it in co-op, so that's what I want to talk about. - In the trailer, you can clearly see two characters, it is a two-person co-op game, so it wouldn't be that crazy to assume that you'll be able to choose one of the two while your friend takes the other one, right? Wrong. You both play as the same exact character, which not only takes away all the immersion from the game but also makes the game boring because you both have the exact same skill-set and there's nothing you can do about it. - You may say that there are multiple build choices and all that, which is true, but you can't really "main" a flamethrower or become a guy who throws grenades left and right to deal damage because all the devices have a looong cooldown and you can't really use them more than, in the best case scenario, twice in one fight. You HAVE to play mainly with a gauntlet and a rifle, just like the second player, which is hella lame. - The second player doesn't technically exist in the world of the game because, obviously, it would be weird if there were two clones in every cutscene, but at the same time, if you play in co-op, you can't do anything without having the second player in the reach of your arm swing. You can't jump over a box, you can't use your lasso to jump from one train to another, you can't jump off a wall, unless you have your buddy right behind you, Why? Maybe so he could help you in some way? No, you have to have him behind you just so he could look at you and wait until you finish jumping over the box and only then he'll jump himself. - Not exactly a co-op-only complaint, but I assume you have more enemies in co-op, so it might be not as annoying in single-player, but the re-use of bosses as common-elite enemies is NUTS here, I swear, you see a unique enemy, you fight him for 3-4 minutes, and then you see the exact same enemy at least twice before you even finish the mission where you first saw him. This problem snowballs in a huge way the more you play the game, the more unique enemies you kill, the more of them you see amongst usual enemies, which then just turns into a clown show where you have to fight 3 of the same "bosses" amongst 2 of the same other "bosses" in one fight, all at the same time. - Not sure if the game had any patches at all since I only bought it very recently, but I guess it's safe to say that the developers don't really want to fix the game-breaking bugs people talk about since the release, which is not a good look. - On a more positive note, the game has pretty good visuals, nothing mind-blowing, but it's clear that the developers wanted to go for a certain style and I'd personally say they've succeeded in it, some cutscenes and zone backgrounds are gorgeous. - The plot is... there, I guess? - Weirdly, with a plot that barely exists, every supporting character has a different and very strong personality, which is great, to say the least. So in conclusion, I truly believe that the game had the potential to be at least "good", but it is only an "okay to buy when it is on sale" game, on a good day. With a 70% discount and 10 hours of gameplay, I'd give it a 6.5/10 TOPS, so if you want to buy it for a full price, you will most likely be disappointed.

In all honesty, not bad of game. I can see the issues other players are experiencing, but overall it doesn't stop you from having a fun time. The gameplay and progression are rather simple, but it does make you feel like a powerful cowboy vampire-slayer. However, the story's pacing feels really off. The premise and the concept is appealing to me, but it could've definitely been executed better. I believe Wild Hog wanted to focus more on the gameplay aspect rather than the story which is understandable. Do I believe this game deserves a sequel? Yes. There is potential for Evil West. If Wild Hog address the major problems in the game in the sequel, we'll have a great Beat 'em Up on our hands. Do I believe its worth $50? No. This feels like a $20 game, $30 at most. Do I recommend it? If you like Dark-Westerns, Vampires, Beat 'em Ups that echoes a little bit of the new God of War games, Hell yeah!

Game is fun so far, just messed up by using the worst game engine, for that the game goes to unoptimized and stutter every time it loads new areas. Next time don't use UE.

Honestly? I feel a bit like I did the first time playing gears of war 2 or any other game back then, which I'm really happy with. Thank you so much for that, pick up on sale when you can, it's a good time.

Evil West is an interesting game, it’s a good game with some interesting combat. It echoes an earlier time in gaming, titles like Warhammer 40K Space Marine, Mass Effect, Dead Space and some others. It’s pretty much on rails but with plenty of movement mobility just without the the ability for a lot of desired back tracking to explore environments. The lack of exploration or how it is designed to cut you off from exploring too much is a bit of a let down but not an absolute travesty, instead it still holds up pretty well despite this limited choice in design. Where Evil West excels the most is its art design and combat mechanics. Ranged weaponry I find more to be desired considering the faster moving rates of enemies, often at times leaving you chipping away at major campaign bosses in a war of attrition. You will do a lot and I mean a lot of dodge rolling. I picked the normal difficulty cause I did not know what to expect and that difficulty didn’t disappoint, the final two boss’s are as stated, battles of attrition, lots of rolling and recognizing assault patterns. One of the things this game does well is dumping tons of buffed mini boss type enemies in an entire arena with you rolling around using most dangerous enemy priority management tactics in the games repeat role of war of attrition mechanics. Ranged weapons are alright, melee is where it’s at, neither stand on their own you must use both in order to survive. The story is interesting, it’s essentially the first Warhammer 40K Space Marine set in a wild west Van Helsing styled setting. That’s essentially this game to be exact, Warhammer 40K Space Marine meets wild west Van Helsing. It has interesting scripts and I find the story enjoyable. The overall palette of the game is refreshing and that’s where I’m giving it a gold star for nailing the vibe of certain films like Bram Stokers Dracula and some others with that overall visual tone. Overall the game is engaging but towards the end I just wanted it over with so I quickly brawled through it. This game stands more as a big pit brawler with ranged weaponry to fully get the job done. It’s really mixed mode combat out of necessity rather than choice. Where the game really suffers is optimization, I found it working much smoother after tweaks and some messing with settings on potent hardware, the game really needs to be set up to run somewhere around the range of sixty frames per second with a range of up to eighty, I finally scaled my resolution closer to 4K on a 1440p setup to avoid excess traversal stutter due to assets over flooding the hardware, essentially due to the engines limitations and lack of efforts to mitigate them, it’s really a 60Hz title due to the engine or optimizations taking more of a back seat, I imagine this was primarily intended for consoles. Important to note, this game was made by a big bureaucracy so don’t fool yourself, there was about as many letters in the credits as a Polish short novel and that I feel always hampers a games design, too many cooks in the kitchen. Instead I like to see much smaller teams of highly skilled people that don’t toy with mind numbing dross that’s currently in political vogue, which I greatly feel stunts many modern games final definition when reaching the customer. So to sum it up it’s a fun game with some flaws, get it on sale. Some of the visual presentation is spectacular. The combat is fun and the story quality is good enough. The game for me ran around twenty two hours, I'm sure I could have blazed through it quicker but I like to scavenge evironments and admire aesthetics stopping to smell though roses so to speak.

This game is very poorly optimized the Shader compilation is terrible it is virtually a broken game, these guys need to seriously update the game. And get it in order and if you Schmucks decide to release an HD version or an enhanced version and then expect us to pay money for it rather than fixing this broken mess you can kiss any sales from me goodbye fix this game.

Обзор будет на двух языках, сперва на инглише, потом уже на старом добром великом и могучем. Итог и последний пункт на русском дополню в комментарии, Стим не дает все вписать. Well, Evil West is done. It took me 18 hours to complete, and that includes my attempts to vacuum all the locations. For its price, I'll give the game no more than 3/10, and then I'll add a point for the music, the nice design and the effort of the authors. So, in order. What do we have. The main character is another veiled "Chosen One", a fucking Marty Sue. He's all gloomy, brutal and cool, rattling guns and all like "back off, only the balls are cooler than me." He always succeeds, he knows no mistakes and knows everything better than anyone. The antagonists here are as stupid as can be. No, that's not it, they're just mentally retarded degenerates. Felicity, the main asshole of the plot, instead of a crazy psychopath, turns out to be a juvenile idiot, incapable of either making a plan or properly beating up the heroes, which is why she gets it in no time. I'll go over the game itself. Pros: 1. Nice visual style. Personally, it reminded me of The Adventures of Van Helsing with all its steampunk and other nonsense, but here they try to present it with a serious face and even more pretentiously. On the one hand, this is a definite plus, on the other - a serious minus, depending on how you look at it. Personally, I expected literally nothing from the game, so I perceived the style as "well, it'll do, okay." 2. Plot. Maximum cliché, we have an uber-powerful main character who goes to beat up all sorts of big bad guys. Not a plus, but not a minus either, the overall plot layout was quite harmonious and, although all the twists were extremely obvious, it didn't hurt the eyes too much. 3. Music. It's kind of there, kind of not. It doesn't irritate, and that's good. Don't expect Mick Gordon-style rants from this game with his masterpiece soundtrack Eternal. 4. Optimization. For the Core i5 and 1060 on a laptop, I didn't encounter any freezes or drops on medium-high settings. Now it's time to rip this game apart. 1. Controls. Extremely unresponsive, wooden and clumsy, as if I were playing a game from the 10s, made on the fly by drunk students. 2. Level design. Linear, with non-obvious forks to secrets. No, seriously, at times you run around the location, look at a corner, think, there's a stash there. You run there, but it turns out that it's a fucking storyline, and the widest passage was just the way to the stash. 3. Combat mechanics. The controls in relation to the combat seem to give you a lot of cool options for destroying the cabins of bloodsuckers, but in fact you will only use one on a permanent basis - the glove. As a result, the entire combat rolls into an endless attraction of the enemy-to-enemy, a small combination, a shot from a sawed-off shotgun at point-blank range, dodging and again. Again. Again. Again. No, seriously, I really used all the inventory for ease of passage ONLY on Felicity. 4. Hitboxes. This is something else altogether. The enemy gets you a meter away from his punch animation, but your fucking glove can't pull you in because... because. It just won't want to, and you can't do anything about it. 5. Bugs. Getting stuck in some corner because someone didn't think to look at the shape of the level surface? Try it, it's delicious. Or maybe you want to try a bug where your character won't put away his gun and you simply can't attack or change weapons? Wrap up two. And so on, and so on, and so on. 6. Clichés. Clichés, cliches, cliches and more cliches permeate the entire plot of the game and its entire style. And there's not even a hint of the Wild West here, don't get your hopes up. God, even the much cheaper Bloody West had much more atmosphere and style than this game. Let's sum it up. Is the game worth its money? 100000000000000%, no, no way. If you're going to buy it, then at best with a price tag of $10, nothing more. Personally, for me, the game is neither good nor bad, I snatched it up just at a discount, paying about $5. But with its full price tag, no, no thanks, for that kind of money there are much better products. It's a shame Steam doesn't have a "don't care" rating, that's exactly what this game is about. Play normal games, and other idiots like me will play crap and write a review in two languages. Have a good nerd, Tovarichi)

I am really surprised why this game got so many good reviews and recommendations. The graphics are bad for a game released in 22, the gameplay is super clumsy and the "story" as trash as garbage like Resident Evil 6. Avoid this game, even in sale.

This game feels like a gamelong tutorial. They lock you into little arenas that you can't escape until you kill everyone of the same enemies you just fought while trying out some new mechanic. They're trying to reinvent the wheel with overly complicated keybindings. Co-op doesn't even save for the guest... this isn't 2002.... make a co-op game that is really co-op.... Not even worth it on sale.

Another game that thinks it knows better than you how your keys should be bound. Impossible to rebind anything with a controller, and some keys of the keyboard are locked (e.g. "p" cannot bound to anything). On the controller, the main key to hitting enemies is RB, and each button is directly linked to a weapons. They is a really weird choice. The game looked really fun, but the fact I'm not allowed to play it the way I want to is really upsetting. I really don't have time to waste on finding work arounds for something as basic as rebinding keys to what i want.

I enjoyed it a lot, it has quite a few small flaws but overall it's a really good game. The story is a classic B-movie, it doesn't offend or surprise, the maps are average, mainly because of the sometimes stupid places where you get stuck or just don't know where to go, but they have an interesting environment design, what really stands out and makes this game worth playing is the gameplay, the fights are absolutely divine and the combat combos are top notch. If the developers would fix the maps and make a better story, I would give this a 9 too, but right now it's more of an 8, also because of the great main character and the fairly original enemies.

It's a decent game. The story serviceable and very linear. The graphics are serviceable although the swamp gas is some of the best I've seen in a game. The ability and weapon upgrades, though not extensive, make you feel powerful. The combat is extremely monotonous and I turned the difficulty down just because the combat felt like an endless grind. Once you defeat a boss, they become a recurring enemy and make the combat a grind.

Fun game and a great value at a sale price of around $15, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. The gameplay is a lot of fun, but the game is fairly short, the story is B-movie at best, and it has a few minor annoyances - the most glaring is being unable to backtrack if you take the "progression" path instead of the "loot" path, so it's easy to miss a pickup even if you see both paths. On the pro side, there's a good amount of enemy variety and associated attack patterns, fun upgrades and perks that mix up the gameplay and keep you feeling more and more badass as you progress, you get unlimited free respecs between most missions, and a new game plus mode where you keep your progression (you can't max everything in one play-through).

I would never buy this at full price, but for the sale I got it on, I'm happy with it. Yeah, it's lacking polish and I definitely got soft-locked a few times, but the gameplay was entertaining enough for me to stick around. They're constantly throwing new tools at you, so it didn't get too stale. The enemies end up being reused quite a bit after you encounter them for the first time, but to me it wasn't a glaring issue until maybe the last two levels, as for over half the game, you're still getting introduced to new enemies as well. The combat gives me that same feeling that Resident Evil 5 melee moves did. There's a satisfying weight behind each punch and *most* enemies will reflect that when you hit them. All in all, it's a 7/10 for me that reminds me of the cheesy linear action games of the Xbox 360 era. The co-op isn't the most stable in my experience, but my friend is loving it still.

Amazing art, great characters, cool story with alot of lore, but the gameplay loop is annoyingly overused bosses that become mini bosses, melee combat feels clunky, and ranged weaponry is underpowered and almost obsolete. Buy on sale for a fun weekend on console, but I do not recommend.

Game is fun when its not just spawn in way to many enemies to make it difficult. It would be fine if boss fight that take u 30 mins of non stop dmg doing to kill the boss guy didnt have extra mobs always spawn in. It just shitty game design. Dont play hardest difficulty, its apearantly made for NG+ but u are allowed to pick it right away with zero warning that u gonna be playing unbalance sponge machine spawn adds unlimited none sense of the game. If you are looking for a good shooter this is it. There is no jumping, they did this well. There is no sneaking, just a drag down drawn out brawls, and go in guns blazing. I read the numbers from game critics listed on this page, and I disagree. While this is a high adreline/high octane game, I would rate this a 6/10. The bad. The controls are weird. No mouse scrolling to change weapons. I hate this. You get weapons assigned to Keys. F is the shotgun. You cannot change weapons by using the number keys like in most games. You can later but only for certain weapons. Your melee button is the left mouse button. Why? You DO NOT get any guns for the first 20 or so minutes of the game. This is part of the story, but you are in the old west, and a gun slinger. Gun slingers use guns..... at least I thought they did. There is text in between loading screens. This is story text and some of it is really long. Once the loading is done, you move on. There is no pause to allow you to manually tell the game to go once the loading is done. So if you are not done reading the text, screw you. I hate this.

I don't often give out negative reviews but this is one giant pile piece of junk - sorry to say this. How can you possibly call this a product respectively a PC port? It's riddled with microstutters and random framedrops. No matter what settings and engine.ini tweaks. Sure, after some tailored tweaks and disabling TAA etc, things are improving but the random stutters REMAIN. I play tons of triple A games and Unreal Engine 5 PC games - check out my library but nothing beats the crown for unoptimized PC port like this one. Unfortunately, ..... totally inept and incapable to provide a proper PC port. I'd rethink 100x before buying another title from that company.

Evil West feels like a wild mashup of modern God of War with a gritty, supernatural Western twist; think cowboys, vampires, and over-the-top action. The combat is punchy, satisfying, and incredibly addictive, with a steady stream of upgrades that keep things fresh and rewarding. Even on the hardest difficulty, the game strikes a nice balance between challenge and mastery. Once you get the hang of it, the flow of combat becomes second nature, and that’s where the real fun begins. I’ve 100% completed this game on PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC, and I don’t regret a single minute. If you’re into brutal brawlers with a unique setting, this one’s an absolute blast.

Well what should I say..... Pros: These devs are trying some innovation and the story is all right. There are some skill-based unlocks as you make some progress. The gameplay is...has some good and bad/terrible ones. Linear gameplay and no open world. Cons: -The difficulty is so unbalanced. Even you will still struggle in story mode. -The enemies attack you nonstop at the same time, where you need lots of dodge and parry. -There are some elite monsters...or I would say midbosses. Those midbosses have high health, defense and unbreakable until you either do their weakness or parry and dodge etc. -All enemies have almost no cooldown where you have a few secs until you do something counterattack. Making it stressful and unfair. -As you make progress in the middle of the story/ midway. It's become repetitive. Conclusion: I don't recommend buying this game at full price and I only recommend it when it's on discount and especially if you have no other games to play. I could give this a game dislike but I will give them a like because of the discount.

It Truly Was An Evil West. Its A Really Good Time, Combat Is Smooth, Flows Really Nicely, Although Sometimes It Does Feel Like Rinse And Repeat, Still Good I Had A Really Fun Time, The Game Is Well Worth It. Adapt Or Die.

A fun action-packed game in the Wild West, you play as Jesse Rentier a Vampire Hunter for the Rentier Institute. Tasked with bringing undead monstrosities to rest, equipped with an electrically charged gauntlet that you can zap and smash foes with and a variety of weapons as well. Graphics: Good Story: It's okay but predictable Dialogue: I don't like it, it's one-liners, the protagonist is always irritated, harsh and I don't like his personality. He is supposed to come off grizzled but something is missing. Music: Good Gameplay: Good Co-Op/Multiplayer: I don't know I like the game but it's pretty much a rails on, third-person action shooter and the RPG elements are basic. There is nothing new and exciting about it, it fits the genre nicely and it gave me a few hours of fun at Evil Difficulty, I recommend it at a sale.
