This game is such a creative concept for a rougelike, but the execution just sucks. I've played this game a lot cause I thought "maybe i just haven't figured the game out yet, even if the items you get are random, most rougelikes have a way to work with what you're given" But in all the time I've played this game I figured out that there is 1 singular good build that completely trumps every other possible build that only requires a single item to work, so why the hell should I keep playing this game looking for new fun ways to play? I've tried building for spinification, but it requires so many different balls and relics and it just doesn't ever come together before the game ends. I've done some slime runs and those were pretty cool, but that also only really requires the item the slimes 1/17 pegs and some high damage balls. The game just refuses to let cool synergies work which is the whole reason rouglikes are fun in the first place. I really tried to like this game, and probably will keep trying cause I think it seems like a cool game, but every time I pick it up its just a big disappointment.

I've tried to enjoy this game as best I can, however as unfortunate as it is, the rng odds that are stacked heavily against you (even more brutal than something like Balatro) makes it lose its charm very quickly, it is not a game of skill, it is a game of luck, and the way it is designed makes it less than enjoyable even though it is a roguelite/roguelike game. It's a pretty fun game, make no mistake, but it gets less fun when you realize you have to rely on luck to have fun and/or win. However, if you really feel the need to play this game, prepare to be tested, not just in your patience, but also in your anger management skills. This review is also coming from how brutally hard the All-for-one achievement unnecessarily is. If they ever get around to reworking and/or adding a reward system from either the achievements or newer goblins along with some much needed balancing (though unlikely to happen), I may come back to this game, for now I must call it quits.

At higher Cruciball levels it's absolutely just RNG based gameplay and nothing you do as a player will have any effect on whether you succeed or not.

I brought this game during Early Access years ago, I tried once more recently and perhaps it is my disposition, but I do not find this game enjoyable and I will try to explain why. There are a lot of balls (in a deck builder this would be the cards) and not all of them are good and some of them are situational, I can understand that that is part of the Roguelike genre, but the way that the increase in difficulty setting (also comon in all Roguelike games) makes a lot of the balls not useful or not good. So you are just fishing for a few balls and since it is hard to remove balls it is hard to justify getting new balls that don't fit 100% Relics are the best part of builds since they do make it more intreasting I will admit. I suppose a lot of it comes down to feeling less control and robbed of vistory or winning only because your lucky and not because you have a luck based build. There are so many boards that will either cripple you or will snowball you to victory and it feels more luck based or rather harder to express skill when the pins phase in or out of existence, move around a lot, change starting positions, slow your ball down massively or black holes that just suck everything in. This gives me a feeling of "oh I won" or "that felt like bullshit". it does not give feelings of overcoming a hard boss by making do with what you got or enjoy a really cool niche build that might not always work but is really fun to pull off like I get in other Roguelikes. There is also the completion metric which is a grind fest not worth time along with achievements that are annoying to achieve and fit more into the "oh this has a 1% chance of happening every run, good luck" rather then a "you managed" or a "have gotten very relic/ball" I will say it is a original feeling game and it has good points like the art style and concept. It is just in the execution that it is bad. Not worth the asking price in my opinion, get on sale if you like to try

i freaking love this game man. when this was first announced and everyone was zeroing in on balatro, all i could think about was peglin. peglin.... such a whimsical name. it was so cute. so endearing. a cute pixel style. you play as the ultimate character: just a little guy. it's such a soothing game and honestly one of my top two games to play when i want to de-stress over something, and i play it every night before bed. there's no need to think. i play it on switch a lot until i realized it was also on steam recently and had to come and leave a comment. red nexus thank you for the little guy ever. PS: F--K THAT STUPID WALL BOSS. WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO US. i immediately know my run is cooked when he's at the end of the castle. :(

Got to cruciball 20 on all the characters, the game is comfy, but does still need, polishing. Certain edge case interactions or orbs not behaving can be found, but its a fun and moreish experience for anyone that enjoys a rougelike.

very cute and surprisingly complex take on Pla-slur-o! This is essentially Slay the Spire meets gambling, and for that do I love it. All of its characters are very cute, lovable and marketable, and this is actually a ploy for the developers to start their true business in plush manufacturing. There's lots of replayability and customizability that ensures no two runs are identical a-la mode to the whole roguelike deal. Essentially, if you like games like Dungeon Clawler (another game by this studio), Slay the Spire, or really roguelikes as a whole, give this a shot, and never stop pegging.

At first this is a quirky little rouge lite. Then you get a god seed and find a synergy that is amazing and it all clicks. But there is still the chance of the drop that never really guarantees anything.

Reminds me of Peggle. Played the hell out of that and a little bit of the second one. With the rogue like aspect its even more fun and re-playable. Think of Issac or hades or gungeon but Peggle.

bought it yesterday and played it like all day (7 hours- 5 of which may or may not have been at work) I very much enjoyed the way that the simple concept was pushed with interesting gimics and ideas.

unbalanced to the point of absolutely ruining the player experience. Early game is fun but too easy and the difficulty scaling is really bad. There is no skill. It is pure luck. Save yourself some time and don't touch cruciball. It's not too bad but pretty quick it turns the game horrible and exposes every single flaw this game has... which is a LOT. it sucks cause i bought this game for early access almost two years ago and frankly it has become disappointing. The devs clearly do not care about balancing, which is crucial for a roguelite. Pachinko boards are already bs, this game makes me want to avoid every version of a pachinko board in existence. You can see i've put a lot of time in this game. I bought it on mobile when that came out. I want to like it so bad but its just frustrating.

SUPER RECOMMEND A very good, fun and chill game legit for everyone. Peggle like + deckbuilder like = Peglin You have multiple charecters to choose from multiple worlds with multiple bosses. So many orbs you will find new ones under the sofa 2 years after playing the game for the first time. Some quite funny achevments for sure and also some that will make you want to pull your hair out. This game is really made with love and it shows when playing. Again would recommend to anyone

Peglin, developed by Red Nexus Games, offers a refreshing and unexpectedly deep take on the roguelike genre by blending it seamlessly with the whimsical physics-based gameplay of Peggle. At its core, Peglin tasks players with launching glowing orbs into a peg-studded arena, with the goal of clearing enemies and obstacles while collecting loot and upgrading abilities. This simple premise unfolds into a richly strategic experience where timing, angle, and resource management are crucial to success. The game’s unique hybrid formula creates a compelling loop of trial, error, and progression that keeps players engaged through its delightful presentation and escalating challenges. From the moment you start Peglin, the bright, cartoonish visuals and cheerful soundtrack set an inviting tone that contrasts beautifully with the game’s growing difficulty and tactical demands. The pegs, enemies, and obstacles are visually distinct and cleverly designed, making each level a mini-puzzle that rewards careful planning and adaptability. The physics-based ball launches feel satisfying and intuitive, but the unpredictability introduced by bouncing orbs and random peg layouts ensures no two attempts play out the same, injecting excitement and tension into every shot. Peglin shines most in its roguelike progression system. Players traverse through a series of increasingly challenging levels, each filled with unique enemies and environmental modifiers. Between stages, upgrades are earned in the form of new orb types, relics, and power-ups that can drastically alter playstyle and strategy. This progression fosters meaningful choices, encouraging experimentation with different combinations to find synergies and adapt to evolving threats. The balance between luck and skill is finely tuned: while some randomness keeps the gameplay fresh, player decisions and precision remain paramount to victory. The game’s pacing is well-crafted, gradually introducing new mechanics and tougher enemies to maintain a steady sense of progression without overwhelming players. Boss encounters serve as satisfying tests of mastery, requiring quick thinking and efficient use of available resources. Additionally, Peglin’s replayability is bolstered by its charming roguelite elements, such as branching paths and unlockable characters, each offering distinct playstyles that add variety and depth. While Peglin is largely successful, a few minor drawbacks are worth noting. The reliance on RNG can sometimes lead to frustrating runs where key upgrades or orbs are elusive, potentially hindering player progress and causing moments of stagnation. The game’s difficulty curve, though generally smooth, can spike abruptly, particularly during certain boss fights or later levels, which might deter more casual players. Furthermore, the relatively short campaign might leave some craving more content or additional modes post-completion, though ongoing updates and community mods have helped extend its lifespan. Overall, Peglin is a delightful and inventive game that masterfully marries the addictive, chance-driven fun of Peggle with the strategic depth and progression of a roguelike. Its accessible yet challenging gameplay, combined with charming art and sound design, creates a satisfying experience that appeals to both casual players and hardcore roguelike fans. Peglin proves that fresh ideas can thrive by blending genres, and it stands as a shining example of how simplicity, when thoughtfully executed, can lead to engaging and memorable gameplay. Whether you’re a fan of precision-based physics games or deep roguelikes, Peglin offers a rewarding journey filled with satisfying bounces, clever upgrades, and plenty of replay value. Rating: 8/10

There's something very satisfying with watching a ball bounce around and seeing damage numbers go up. Who would of thought to combine pachinko with a roguelike and expect it to work - but it does!

While I will be playing peglin more after this review, I think the devs wanted to try something new and I can commend them for that, and it is definitely a fun time, but I think the game tries to go in depth in the wrong areas. Its not trying to be balatro (well kinda,) but it's its own unique idea that was trying make things work for a balatro game, and not a peglin game. Im not sure if its how its presented or what, but even though it has basically the same mechanical depth as balatro (planets, tarots, you get what i mean,) it feels so much more complex in all the wrong ways. My diagnosis of goopy goblin gamer brain may have something to do with this, but I feel like this game overwhelms me with all the stats I need to keep track of. But its not even stats of the enemies or anything, the stats you keep track of are purely for your pachinko playing. In a future update or maybe DLC depending on what they could do, id love to see some sort of combat overhaul to help make it feel more like an RPG-pachinko game, and not a pachinko game with a heavy salting of rpg

Game is fun and silly while still requiring you to make build choices and combat strategies. If there are some broken builds, most of them have the same, fair, chance of winning you a run if played correctly. I have encountered a minimal amount of BS in all of my runs. Achievements are fun to hunt, ennemies' infos fun to gather, cruciball fun to scale so far. I come back to this game every now and then, play for like eight to ten hours in three or four days and put it back again, waiting for the next urge to complete more of it (or the next update). I've seen people complain about achievments being impossible to obtain or the game being mostly rng. I am really not one for saying "skill issue" but at the same time have not felt any of this and have a lot of trouble imagining how one could. Some niche achievements (like one for all) i looked at, went "i can probably get it like that" and got on my next run. There has been some parts of the game that have proven more difficult than most but from one run to another I learned how to build towards beating them by adapting my relics and orbs to the situation. You can always cheese your way out of one or two specific situations with a given build (without it feeling like an oversight from the devs, at least in my opinion) and that should give you the necessary edge to survive a good deal of your runs. I love the flavor of silly little goblin goes on big adventure that the game mechanics really nail down. Can't wait to see more content for this game. Orbelisk go brrr. Solid 9/10.

I was waiting for this to go on sale because i was on the fence about whether or not I would like it. I like it. The boards have variety. the ballz are diverse and its fun stacking the various damage effects. fast paced, but once you fire the ball, that's it. the pegs will fall where they may. If you ever see this under 10$, its worth it.

it's like peggle if it were like every subpar indie game released in the last 5 years - boring pixel art, no onboarding whatsoever, bad physics, and overall boring gameplay for $20 you could buy the peggle pack, nubby's number factory, and probably a number of other peggle-likes and have a much better experience

Peglin is a terrific game that starts strong, but if progression is your jam, you may be disappointed. A great, breezy pachinko roguelike, I've wasted hundreds of hours on it, but getting past Cruciball 8 (this game's version of a scaling difficulty setting; Cruciball goes to 20) seems impossible unless you get the exact combination of orbs, relics, and bosses. Otherwise, you may as well start over and hope the RNG gods bless this new run. Multiple runs will end because, even though you fought elites, didn't duck enemies, and spent your money wisely, you just cannot do enough damage to the Demon Wall before it gets to you and eats you. Keep it casual with Peglin, unless you're a real progression sicko.

This is probably my favorite game I currently own. It makes me so so angry, yet I am morbidly addicted. The gameplay is extremely unbalanced but in a way that makes it feel like it's still my fault every time I lose. Incredibly fun, everything past cruciball 10 is Hell, so be warned this game is not for the easily angered. Best indie roguelike I've ever experienced.

Peggle meets Slay the Spire. A chill, strategic little deck builder where you play an adorable little goblin random encountering through 3 unique areas each with a boss waiting at the end. Each peg hit with your chosen orb racks up damage that you deal to enemies rushing you with every throw. Whether its poison, fortification, enhancing your pegs, or sheer chaos, there is a lot of ways to play such a minimalist game. However, there is an element of luck as you will find yourself fishing for certain random events, orbs, and upgrades to maximize your builds. This would be a problem if the game was any more difficult than mild; once you reach new game+8 it does. The music is also mild and unobtrusive but some tracks have the potential to be so ear wormy you will be still bobbing to them 50 hours in. My only complaint is that some of the achievements can be menacingly specific to reach, and you will need to be very lucky or laser focused for some of them. A definite recommend as an unwind, brain off, after work game.
