Rip Monolith. This is a classic that broke the rules. Watching my father play this back in 97 on a CRT monitor will forever be in my memory banks. You want a fun sadistic trip, play this masterpiece lost in time.

TIP FOR NEW PLAYERS: use the "made to order" difficulty. turn the enemy count UP and turn enemy aggression, enemy HP, and the accuracy of the hitscan enemies (shotgun/tommy gun cultists) DOWN. the worst part of the game is that all the cultist enemies can hit you from anywhere within a second of you walking into their field of vision, and they often don't bark or anything to let you know they've seen you. in addition, on normal difficulty and higher everyone has too much HP, and the zombies, the most common enemy in the game, can get back up 3-5 times before fully dying unless you have ammo for specific weapons. my first full playthrough was on one difficulty down from normal, which was fun, but i always felt there weren't enough enemies. i've now started another one using the tips above based on several recommendations and it is absolutely great to play. you just have to get past those first couple levels and things start to open way up. full review: i finally played and beat blood this week, and i've really come around on it. every other time i've played it i fell off because the first few levels pretend to be a limited-ammo survival horror game, and you basically have to save scum your way through it (moreso than you would in even other build engine games) because the game HATES to drop health. keep at it, though, and you'll find a game with deep ammo pools, really creative level design, and a very distinct eerie gothic feel. the other problem with the game is its 90s edginess. luckily, that aspect falls away a bit after the first few levels and leaves you with a really great eerie mood. even at its worst, Blood's 90s edginess isn't nearly as embarrassing as duke nukem 3d's or as uncomfortable as shadow warrior's, so even blood at its worst isn't too bad for a game made in the 90s. i've always loved the build engine but until now have never beaten what is now my new favorite build engine game!

After watching Civvie’s series about this game, I wanted to play it. I don’t have a PC so i played it on my laptop and despite using awkward controller support, i really enjoyed it. When I get a Steam Deck im hoping that i can finagle my way around so i can play it on there. Game is really fun, humorous and enjoyable

I recomend you to buy this port, but whatever you do, do NOT switch to OpenGL. Or at least do it with caution. Doing it could potencially make the game unplayable. I made this review in order to spread the massage, and to get the attention to the problem. (Also getting attention to myself and the review.)

An amazing remaster of my favorite game from my middle school days. It also allowed me to play thorough the game with a controller for the first time. I had so much fun, I even took the time to create and share the first BLOOD steam input layout for PS4 controllers (Blood Run n' Gun PS4). It was a pleasure to be able to play this game from my couch with a controller. Did i mention the improved graphics and audio as well? Even if you have never played this game, it is a GOATED game now made even better and modernized for new systems. I also just discovered the EXTRA CRISPY mod which has upgraded this game in so many ways, I can't list them here.

An absolute unit of an FPS game. Blood is great for a multitude of reasons, even in Fresh Supply: -Smooth and fast-paced movements -Solid amount of weapons to use -Enemies that are brutal, and come in variety of attacks -Atmosphere is eerie, dark and is excellent for its horror vibes -Great soundtrack -High amount of replay value If you're looking for an FPS game that challenges you in every step of the way, and in the best way it can ever offer, Blood is the goat!

Great throwback and im glad the game is more accessible now but its definitely more fun to play with friends

Blood, extra crispy mod, and Blood 2, The Chosen in my opinion, it's better than The Darkness and The Darkness II, better than any mafia that steals money from families

This is one of the best boomer shooters I've ever played. It features some pretty good levels and lots of different weapons that feel unique. The bosses are fun but not too difficult. The only thing that's bad is the fact that there's barely any enemy vatiation.

this game has THE best effects, sprites and sound effects. The gameplay is hard but fair once you learn it. My only problem is the lack of metal music but that isn't too bad considering that the gameplay and other things compensate this shortcoming more than well enough. the blood is in fresh supply

Pro: This game does not treat you like an idiot. Con: This game does not treat you like an idiot. Sometimes you can get lost because you're actually supposed to figure something out or explore some area more closely. It's as good as they say and as hard as they say. If you like boom shooters, this is the easiest buy.

Good fun, generally sound remaster of a classic boomer shooter. Some minor graphical quibles but nothing that ruins the game outright. YMMV if you played the original and can spot the differences.

for how old this game is. blood holds up relatively great all things considered. game play is difficult but very rewarding in a amazing way, like knowing there's a band of cultists just right around the corner and you throw a bundle of TNT and see one or more body's fly out from cover they came from is just a chef's kisses level of expert game design that i haven't found in any recent 2020-2025 AAA games as of today.I highly recommend this game to any how loves a thrilling experience and very difficult game play that is like no other.(ps when are we gonna get a proper sequal.blood 2 doesn't count, that game is a travesty comparied to this game.)

Cultist murder, Destruction of Elder Beings and Old Ones, Gallows humor a plenty, flare guns akimbo. What is not to love about one of the cornerstone game of the classic FPS genre. Iirc also one of the games that came packaged with the Type O Negative video "love you to death", which was a trend I wish happened even more. An ABSOLUTE FULL UNIT!!!

I attempted Extra Crispy and got sodomized 12 times by cultists, 11/10 game

The best 90s shooter on the market. Brutally hard until you know what you're doing, great art style and sound design. Every weapon in the sandbox has a use, every enemy a unique challenge.

I'm on kind of a boomer shooter kick right now, and I can definitely see why this one became a classic. Crisp pixel graphics and great level design. Quotes Evil Dead a little too liberally, though.

BLOOD is the most brutally difficult, ass-raping FPS game I have ever played. On the difficulty level "well done" (not even the highest difficulty,) cultists will corner peek and one-tap you faster than a pro-level CSGO player. Ammo will be scarce, and often you will be left with only your pitchfork with hordes of zombies and cultists ahead of you. There is often only 1 health pickup for the entire level, so you will have to make it to the end without taking any damage. I have beaten Doom 1-2016 on ultra violence, yet I cannot get past the second level after attempting for nearly 3 hours. Play BLOOD if you want to experience the video game equivalent of 1 man, 1 jar.

Hardest most ball busting game on the build engine. 10/10 will play again.

Why are there zero ammo drops in this game? Remember liking it as a kid so not sure what's changed. Good remaster though.
