Great game, annoying interface. I love to play WIngspan IRL and on Board Game Arena... but the app really sucks the fun out of it. Your options are to either: - Play with each habitat as separate screens that you have to switch back and forth between. - Play in the "habitats overview", where the game will only display half of each card and you have to click back and forth to see each half. Card games apps are an EXTREMELY solved problem - expand the card when you mouseover it so that you can read the entire card. Why the developers of this app chose this approach is baffling. It's a shame because as I've said, the board game itself is great. And even the art and sound of the app is great! Just fix the interface, please.

cute, im trying to 1v1 the automaton while i get to know the game mechanics a bit more, and this thing is annoyingly stupidly unfair.

Great potential but the interface is a nightmare. Game could also benefit from having some sort of campaign. Controls and switching habitats is beyond terrible. I think I will stick to watching real birds from now on.

It's the same as the tabletop game in theory, but it's ruined by a terrible interface. Not sure what the devs were thinking with some of the choices they made. I do not recommend this version.

Cute, wholesome, and well designed. Everything is artistically well done and looks fantastic. So many elements well thought out like asynchronous gameplay, online and singleplayer custom games with unique rules, etc. The music and visuals are just soothing. The mechanics are smooth. Someone really tried to make this as good of a game as it could be, and it shows. If you're a fan of the board game, you'll like this. On sale it's less than $10 and it's worth every penny. I don't have enough good things to say.

Wholesome, cozy, and contemplative. Minimally competitive, great for chilling with friends.

After one of my friends brought over the physical Wingspan board game, our group decided to buy the digital copy to play when we were scattered across the country. And it's carried over all of the wonderful theming and artwork from the physical version. The audio design and additional artwork are also excellent additions that fit organically into the game to the point where I have booted up a game in the background just to hear the birdsong while focusing on other things. Ultimately though, if you are buying this game, you are buying a board game simulator. I find that enjoyable (especially when you can pick up the game on sale), but there are other games on Steam for similar prices that do a lot more with their digital platform. If you like the board game, or you like the arcade-style of games that have effectively endless replayability but more limited scope, this is an easy recommend, but just know what you're buying is something designed around the restraints of a physical tabletop.

The best board game to play with friends. Great UI despite occasional bugs. I love hearing about bird facts and feel like each one is an interesting and unique tidbit I can share with friends. Thank you for your time.

I probably spent more time on it than it was worth. It's super calm and chill, and it works nicely as an alt-tab game. It doesn't have a lot of depth though, you're mostly just playing the cards you get, without much of a choice Interestingly enough, the digital version is more enjoyable than the physical one. The computer handling all the scoring is a major convenience It doesn't deserve a thumbs down, but honestly... don't expect much from it

Form over function. Long turn times combined with an inability to watch your opponents' turns unfold in realtime makes gameplay feel very isolated. Really doubles down on delivering that classic board game feeling of “waiting for someone else's turn to finish”. I want to see the cards my friends are playing! I want to enjoy the artwork, and read the descriptions along with them! But instead, I'm just sitting around waiting for a timer to expire. Maybe this is a good way to play the game by yourself, but the multiplayer experience is extremely disappointing. Fine, so maybe it's not built for real-time play. I tried to set up an async game with a friend, and... they weren't able to join the game after I'd started it. What? Asynchronous games have to be started synchronously? C'mon, man, Facebook games had this figured out in 2009. Let me kick off the game with a bunch of people invited, and let them accept the invite and play their first turn on their own time. Not like the game is really practical to play asynchronously anyway, as launching the game, navigating through the menu, and rejoining in-progress gameplay takes many times longer than actually playing your turn. Asynchronous games are mostly mobile, and mostly re-launch to wherever you left off when you closed it; this game... doesn't. What really turns my sentiment sour is that the far-superior fan-made Tabletop Simulator conversion of the game has been taken offline. I can only imagine this was in response to the demands of the trademark holder. I understand the need to protect your IP, but if people clearly want to play that way, why not just... license it? Instead, we're being pushed toward this diabolically unplayable mess. Avoid.

Such a wonderfully positive and non-confrontational game. The primary interaction is indirect, focused on competing for a shared pool of bird cards and food dice. It fosters a sense of calm accomplishment as you build your own personal engine, watching your aviary flourish. Wingspan is more than just a game; it's a work of art. It's a celebration of nature, a testament to elegant game design, and an absolute joy to bring to the table. It's relaxing yet challenging, beautiful yet strategic. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a delightful way to spend an evening, Wingspan is an essential addition to your collection.

i'm pretty big into all different types of gaming but I was a little skeptical at the idea of creating a haven for birds being anywhere near as fun as people said. I stand corrected. This gave is fun, interesting, aesthetic, and addictive! It never gets old and I can even play it multiple times back to back which is unusual for me when it comes to longer games! It has been fun watching new content come out, though due to my financial situation I usually play the extra content through my friends hosting the game until things get better :)

Cozy but challenging. Didn't get boring after 100h for me. There is one big issue I have: Players cannot choose their starting cards simultaneously so in multiplayer there is quite some downtime until everyone is ready. I play it solo only and multiplayer on BGA.

Extremely overloaded with everything. Rules, tutorials, interface, mechanics. It's just too much. Fun is completely missing. For the whole time, instead of just relaxing and playing I was trying to figure out what are all these trillions of buttons, signs, cards, symbols, descriptions, etc. As for the newbie in this game it feels like if you want to start playing it, you should be an expert in this game right from the start. It's absolutely not newbie friendly from this point. Nice art, cozy atmosphere, but unfortunately for me it's extremely overloaded and boring. Refunded.

Wingspan Digital is an absolutely beautiful and incredibly faithful adaptation of the beloved board game. As a nature lover and bird watcher, I was first introduced to this game by a friend who works in bird conservation. I was immediately captivated by its unique gameplay and the stunning design of the bird card illustrations, complete with fascinating trivia facts about each species. When work took us to different parts of the world, we decided to purchase the digital version so we could continue playing together, and it has been a seamless experience. This game truly feels like the perfect digital companion to the physical board game, bringing all its charm and strategic depth to your screen. The animations are gorgeous, and the background music creates an incredibly immersive and relaxing atmosphere that significantly enhances the gameplay. Sometimes, I find myself just playing the game to emulate being surrounded by nature, right here in my room – it's truly therapeutic. If you're a bird enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply enjoy relaxing yet strategic card-driven engine-building games, then Wingspan Digital is definitely for you. It offers limitless replayability, ensuring countless hours of engaging and calming gameplay.

This is a beautiful and faithful recreation of the physical board game. I love the care they have put in through the simple animations of the birds on the cards, and having audio for each bird when it is played. Having played a couple of rounds against the computer, it has been a good balance between helpful challenge, while giving the player space to learn how to play the game.

A quite addictive card game that's surprisingly easy to learn; and it seems even if you only bought the base game, you can experience the DLC contents in the online games.

Awesome engine builder, takes a while to get acquainted with the depth of each aspect of the game. Never felt the spark to take part in the online matchmaking, Otherwise, time will fly by once your wealth of knowledge within the game forms.

One of my favourite board games. The physical edition is still superior, but this is a nice, quick way to get your bird fix in! It's also cheaper than the physical edition, thus making it more accessible if you're short on cash but want a great board game.

This game is a very good implementation of the board game. I play solitaire against four bots, which can be completed in 30 to 40 mins per game. This way I played many games learning good strategies and many, many birds! :-D With the available expansions (europe, oceania, asia) it is even better. I alway choose to play with all expansions active.

I've only played one online match but I don't think I'll ever be playing another, and I love the physical board game. The only thing that makes this experience feel multiplayer is that you have to wait for other people to make their move, and you have to wait a long time. For the most part, you just sit there looking at your own board while the other players make their moves and then at the end the scores are tallied and you have no idea how the game played out to that result. There are no animations for the other players turns except a popup at the end, and there's no chat or emotes to interact with the other players. As far as board games go, Wingspan already has limited player interaction, but at least in person you can discuss your strategies or admire each other's birds. You can view the other players boards, but the interface is clunky and you have to constantly switch tabs to stay on top of how other boards are evolving. Overall, pretty unimpressed. I would be bummed if I'd payed full price and I wouldn't recommend it even at 60% off.

Cozy game and easy to casually play. However, the depth of strategy is impressive! The tutorial is a bit choppy and the in-game language can make it confusing to figure out what all you can do on a given turn. However, after about 30 minutes of playing, the actions make a lot more sense.

Awesome game! While it has a big learning curve, starting against simple AI's is helpful. There's loads of instruction and videos on Youtube and various websites. You'll feel great delight in playing the game as you play more and learn more. You can play one to four AI's or Automa and even other humans online and at your computer. In addition to the joy playing, there is an educational element from learning about all the birds. A great educational game for all ages. There are several DLCs for more birds. The game is reasonably priced. And not to mention it is a beautiful game! Just as beautiful as the board game it comes from. Enjoy!

Probably the most ornithological game, but it lacks taxonomic species names! These could be optionally activated in the options menu so that they are displayed, in brackets and italics, below the regional species names.

In my opinion much more pleasant to play than the boardgame, since actions are much faster. A game against computers takes around 30min with 4 AI. Keeps the pleasure of the original, without the waiting part!

The digital version of a great board game is just as wonderful, maybe even a bit better because you can relax more with the great music and the rules are all handled for you. Also, you don't have to deal with flakey friends not playing your great bird game with you. Highly recommend a peaceful evening of playing with your bird cards.

This game is AMAZING! I love that its so much more portable than the board game. it runs great on laptops so you can play anywhere you can bring your laptop. I only have one issue with the game. I wish there was campaign style levels with certain goals to hit. It would give an extra challenge besides the weekly challenge against the bot. I have heard other people complain about this before so I really hope the developers consider this. I am so excited for the possibility of finspan to also come to steam I would absolutely purchase it if it does.
