Mortal Sin is an absolute blast. It’s fast, brutal, and very challenging—in all the right ways. The combat is easily one of the best parts of the game. It feels like Doom but with melee weapons. Chaining combos, dodging, and slicing through enemies feels incredibly smooth and satisfying. Every hit has weight, and pulling off a clean combo is just chef’s kiss. The style of the game really caught me off guard too—it has this dark, gritty look that reminds me of Berserk, which I love. It’s violent, over-the-top, and it owns that fully. The art and atmosphere give it a unique identity that stands out in the indie action scene. The gameplay loop is super addictive. You’re always pushing further, unlocking new gear, learning enemy patterns, and getting stronger each run. It nails that “just one more try” feeling perfectly. It is tough, no doubt—but the challenge is what makes the victories feel so good. If you’re into stylish, skill-based combat and rogue-lite progression, this one’s a must-play.

Game is incredible in bursts of like 30ish minutes. Combat is incredible and I really love the art. The dev has such amazing continued support for the game. Def recommend to anyone who loves good melee combat.

Currently I do not recommend the game but I will preface this review with the fact that I enjoyed it for a while, so most of the foundation is solid. What caused this shift was the update that made it so skills were now assigned to equipment and drained their mana whenever they were activated. Before, you could have any number of them and they didn't cost anything to use. Admittedly, you could get pretty strong builds, but I felt that it was part of the fun of surviving the tough early game and having a good plan. It's not like the game got trivial either with stacking the skills, one or two wrong moves and you could still die just like that. I didn't mind that equipment breaking was a consequence of running out of gear mana, it felt easier to deal with than micromanaging how many skills I have on each piece of equipment. The reason the new system does not work well is not because it is fundamentally a bad idea, but the game was not properly re-balanced around it. Enemies still have brutal speed, damage, and swarm you like crazy. As some other reviews have stated, your best chance of survival is finding a niche way to survive and cheese it to victory. It doesn't feel tactical, nor skillful. I like doing manual combos, but there is a certain point when it becomes sub-optimal compared to these 'cheesing' strategies. Either revert the skill/equipment change or completely change the number/damage/speed of enemies. There is a reason why barely anyone is getting the multiple loop achievements anymore as well as the the ones for the new pirate zone.

I played for about 20 minutes, And thought.. Im gonna refund this - But then it clicked.. Something happened, I could not put it down, This game is addicting as hell, Variety of classes to choose from, Chaotic blood splatters everywhere, Half the time i dont even know whats going on, There are so many enemies on my screen.. Then you hit a perfect parry.. The ding, The blood.. The absolute massacre as all those enemies that were on your screen turn to pulp, Its insanely satisfying, And you can choose to play fast, like really fast - or take your time.. Many many classes to unlock, As well as starter area buffs you unlock which feels like you're building up your own little area. The realism graphics are my favourite, I honestly cant play on the other style.. Although its unique and interesting in its own way, It just wasnt my vibe.. I highly reccomend this game, Especially on sale Also runs on steamdeck absolutely perfectly, and doesnt destroy the battery life.. 10/10

The game is insanely good, feels like melee doom. The atmosphere is grim, the impact from weapons and abilities feels amazing, the dismemberment and gore are top notch. Also want to mention the artstyle, it looks gorgeous!

It's an amazing tech demo for how to create compelling melee combat, with a huge number of classes playing the same levels and same enemies repeatedly. It's light on the roguelike aspect, and ultimately the difficulty lies in the sheer volume of enemies you encounter in the end. It's a fun, but ultimately hollow experience. But possibly the best first-person melee combat on the market. I'd pay this much for it to just be a mod in skyrim, than to play this as a standalone game. Also to call this game an eyesore is an understatement, good god the motion sickness and the throbbing temple is not worth the time investment.

I play this game once every three months or so...and when I do I play it for at least an hour...which is a long time for me... And every time I fire it up, its like it is a whole new game. The dev never stops improving it and at the same time, never ruins what makes it fun at its core. Just continual improvements... Just needs waifus... dirty little sandwich makers....teeheehee

Tries to be a challenging game but its just a painfully easy button masher but you MIGHT sometimes die to a enemy with a crazily inflated damage number

Holy balls, let me just start by saying i've been playing this game off and on again for about a year or so now and the game has improved so drastically the combat is always getting smoother, the art-style is amazing and the developer is constantly adding new features and refining old ones 10/10 worth it!!

Recently upgraded to The Path of Torment and I gotta say I'm Loving Mortal Sin bunches! The developer works so hard on this and constantly improves upon an already satisfying experience. Making the realistic graphics option and combat effects like slow mo was a huge W I didn't think I needed. There is no issue with the way the game looked originally from my experience, but the realistic graphics makes it much easier to notice quick changes in the environment or with enemies. The quest lines just got a really cool update, and I'm excited to see more characters! Hopefully there will be a more intuitive tutorial, or a tutorial arena to teach people about the combos. I spent my first 10 hours not knowing how busted it is to pull off combos. The Dark-Soulsesque Text littering the path I unintentionally ignored until realizing the Knight offered an expose dump of the games controls.

The game is ridiculously fun, challenging to a reasonable extent even on the game's normal difficulty (hard mode or "Path of Torment" is a genuine ass kicker), and possibly most importantly of all, especially for a Rouguelike, the game's got variety. Not just in its abilities, classes, enemies and everything else but in the core of the game itself! Usually a game being in Early Access can be a bit of a turn-off since in some cases that might as well read "Unfinished" but not in the case of Mortal Sin. I bought the game over a year ago on a fun whim looking for a time killer and even back then wasn't dissapointed with how much there was to do. Let me tell you though, over the course of my time with Mortal Sin the game is both unrecognizable with all of its added content and, at the same time, as beautiful as the day I met her. Genuinely, if you're considering buying the game, just do it man! Do it while you can experience the joy of a Dev who cares so much about delivering a good experience that every few months they grace you with what might as well be an entire DLC's worth of new content on-top of an already full and fun experience :)

Mortal Sin is a rougelike, action, hack and slash, medieval-fantasy, first person melee game. It has a beautifully unique art-style, with the option to choose between a "realistic" shade and several other duo-tone shades. The combat feels like a blend of Chivalry / Mordhau, Ultrakill, and DMC. There's an emphasis on stringing together combos, using class specific special abilities, defending when necessary (which feels like countering in the Batman Arkham games), situational awareness, and focusing on delimbing enemies. The combat is really satisfying especially when you clear out a horde of enemies, or getting a parry in when you're deep in the flow. All this base mechanics and skill checks already make for a fun experience on it's own, but add in the perks, unique classes, and variety of weapons you get a game where every run feels different and your playstyle changes dramatically between each run. There are some things that do irk me, but it feels like nitpicking especially since the game is made by a solo-dev. That's right, this is the passion project of one man, and I have to give him high praise for this masterpiece of a roguelike. He deserves every penny you give to him, and I can't wait to see what the game looks like when it's fully released (and don't worry, it's updated regularly with the last major update coming out April of this year.) I can't recommend this enough, and I hope you throw your money at the screen for this one.

Fun game. very high quality. I recommend customizing the control scheme. The left and right mouse keys just don't feel right for the pacing of the sword swings and parries. Also I found my hand cramping.

I love this game. Its got a rogue-like game play loop, but everything else is highly unique. Its a first person melee-focused solo brawler with mechanics inspired by modern fighting games. It has a unique art style and unique music. In that regard its one of the boldest artistic visions in gaming right now and its a solo-dev game. Oh yeah, and the dev is both incredibly transparent, and updates the game regularly which are huuuuuge wins.

This is a great game! Mortal Sin is a first-person rouge-like, RPG, fighting game mashup that is insanely fun. I really was not expecting to have as much fun with this game as I have. The aesthetics are incredibly fascinating, the setting and lore is compelling, and the game play is snappy, brutal, and oh-so satisfying. There's a whole lot of classes, weapons, and perks to keep you from getting board with just one way of playing. I think this game's difficulty is quite well-tuned, as I have often been in the position of thinking, "oh my gosh, I am so overpowered, nothing can stop me now!" Then immediately being humbled two minutes later as I'm cut down by an elite enemy. I'd recommend this game for anyone interested in games in this genre, and even though this game is in early access, there's still a lot to sink your teeth into. Also update: the dev added a quest where you follow a "witch" who is a goth dommy mommy, so, uh, yeah it's even better

Stumbled upon this game one day and this has been my go to on the steam deck for the past few weeks. The dev really shows their passion with consistent updates. I love switching from different visuals whenever I feel things getting repetitive. My brain thrives on novelty and this keeps me coming back. I started multiple sessions just to try out all the classes and it's so much fun. Only got 10 mins? I get a run in just to see how fast I can get through it. Got it on sale and haven't regretted it. Just buy it already.

The lone developer who made this game is a hero. Regularly brings the heat with really meaningful updates that dramatically add to the game in both visuals/feel and gameplay. This is an early access game that is continually updating and advancing the game. Well worth the money.

Will write a proper review someday, this game and it’s developer deserve that. The dev is an inspiration to me. The way he cares for the game and explains his chain of thought when he creates new features or makes changes. The passion oozes from every aspect of Mortal Sin. It’s a piece of art and you should really, really check it out.

It feels amazing to play. It's like a combination of Quake, DMC, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater all at the same time. When the mechanics click, you enter this flow state where you are gliding through entire levels chaining combos together and moving from one enemy to the next -- attack cancelling like a it's a fighting game, timing parries, using abilities, switching weapons, etc... It feels incredible and there's not really another game that feels quite like this one. The developer is also amazing and has continued to update and improve this game drastically over time. I'm always surprised at how often I come back to look at it only to get roped back in because there has been another huge update.

the combo suggestion is the best mechanic in a game. the combat hypes you up like crack as you blast revolving combos into hordes of enemies and they expolde limb by limb into red mist

Very fast and satisfying combat. The general dungeon levels are fine and fun, with some bullshit at the very end of a run. The true difficulty comes solely from the last level where you either fall into a pit for instant death or get mauled by mob of elite enemies with zero room for movement. Pretty neutral on this for now, but leaning enough towards positive to recommend it.

After the Realistic Visuals Update, I can finally enjoy Mortal Sin without motion sickness. It’s honestly a huge relief because I’ve always admired the old art style—bold, unique, and instantly recognizable. But something about the contrast and visual effects used to trigger discomfort for me during longer play sessions. Now, with the updated visuals, the game feels much more accessible while still keeping that gritty, intense atmosphere that makes it stand out. The new look doesn’t take away the game’s identity—it just makes it more playable for people like me who struggled with the original effects. Huge thanks to Nikola Todorovic for listening to the community and continuing to improve this amazing game. The combat still slaps, the style is still strong, and now I can finally stay in the world of Mortal Sin for hours without feeling sick.

Extremely unique Rogue-like, at first glance looks weird but cool at the same time. Had this game in my backlog for a good while, grinded it out when i first got it and moved on but recently got back into it and yeah the changes are very much felt. Combat feels good, Weapons have a unique feel for each and don't feel samey, like you feel the difference between a Straight Sword and a Axe or a Hammer. Combos are a very fun way of changing up the play style. But if don't like that, Auto Combos are a thing (personally i love having more control over my Character) Multiple different classes from Paladin, Gladiator to Mage and Vampire? (Sick) All having separate Stats and play styles. Areas are cool consisting of a Castle / Dungeon, Caves, a Forest / Village(reminding me of RE4 Beginning village) and a Pirate ship, i didn't expect that last one. I love the creativity. Honestly a Great Game, seems somewhat close to finished, not surprised considering the Dev's consistent updates. P.S. if your worried about the Art style, it grew on me i change it now and then. I have nothing but respect for the Dev Keep it up.

A fun game. I really enjoy the combat which is the major focus. The combat has a lot of combos you can use to attack in various ways allowing for responsive reactions to enemy hordes and actions. The class system is neat too as it gives you a variety of skills to choose from on top of giving you various weapons to play with. Overall this is a really good game and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys rogue or roguelike games. If I were to give it a numerical rating I'd say its around an 7.5 to an 8/10. I think it has a lot of potential.

I rarely leave reviews, but this one deserves it. It is frankly a brilliant example of what can be done when you focus on substance over form. The visuals are certainly decent, but it has the feel of the original Doom, or perhaps more Hexen. It's surprisingly addictive, with very nicely balanced game-play that is pretty challenging without being too punishing. It's very stable, and I've not experienced one crash. I initially found the lack of saving during levels annoying but it adds to the tension nicely. A lone developer has put their heart into this, and there's a little gem being created. Absolutely worth the full price, and when discounted it's a steal.

This game is perfection. The attacks feel super responsive and the graphics are awesome and unique. Tons of blood and gore, as well as a thought out dismemberment mechanic. The dev seems to have made this game as a berserk passion project, and I LOVE it. It does berserk so much justice, and makes me feel like guts when i cleave through a massive horde of enemies with a big fucking sword. This dev deserves all the praise in the world, I cannot recommend this game enough.
