Uncensored digital naturals cannot save this game. I want to preface this by saying that I really try to be objective when I play games. Even when I don't like a game I can acknowledge the good qualities it has. The criticisms for this game are valid and this is an example where the reviews aren't necessarily being hyperbolic. When you old enough you eventually see a trend where franchises that are around long enough eventually change with the times. For better or for worse, new talent comes in and updates things for a younger audience. It's nothing new and this game certainly is not a unique example of that happening. The world of Santo Ileso is really nice. I like the design of it and it was neat having non-urban environments to drive and run around in. The problem is the world isn't very populated. At times it really feels like the developers intentionally designed the game to have an incredibly low population density for performance. The character creator is quite good. It's on par with the earlier entries in the franchise. The problem is that the writing isn't engrossing. I don't expect this game to have the best writing, but it does itself no favors by being completely uncharismatic. The core gameplay is classic Saints Row. The gun play feels good. Driving works well. I appreciate how well the drifting works, how sliding into the card next to you works, and being back to get on the roof to shoot is cool. Running around doesn't feel like I'm controlling a tank unlike the franchise this series is often compared to. Now look. I didn't finish this game. Remember how I said the game feels intentionally handicapped with its' low population? That was huge driving factor for why I dropped this game. I can deal with bad writing. Most games I don't care about the story/writing anyways. The gameplay here works but when you actually try to be chaotic and have massive shootouts is when the game falls completely apart. I started a crime spree to level up a weapon. At first it was a cop car. Then it was a good thirty seconds before another cop car showed up with two cops inside. I killed them and the notoriety meter went away. I then tried again and the same things happend until I noticed that one of the cops was calling in back up. So I sat around and waited what felt like a solid minute while the cop made his call only for two cop cars to show up. I could never get more than two cop cars to show up at the same time. I even used cheats to set my notoriety to max. The game simply refused to send a meaningful amount of bodies for me to shoot. It was the same with the rival gangs. I gave up when a crowbar needed to be used on a gang 150 times and the game was only spawning 2-4 enemies at a time with ridiculously slow respawn rates. For me that ruins the whole point of this game. Maybe I wasn't patient enough or didn't get far enough along for this to be different, but 7 hours of running around trying to find fun was enough. I really wanted to be able to say this game was good but it's really not. The Wha Happun? episode by Matt McMuscles I think objectively answers, well... what happened. It's not some political nonsense. it was a rushed game that never got the time to be fleshed out properly. Maybe one day I'll try again, but my recommendation is just stick with Saints Row 2-4.

This game is a hot pile of mess. It has decent gameplay and all, and the story is kinda niche, but what I really hate about it is how unstable it is. DirectX 12 crashes like every cutscene, Volkan crashes when I start the game up, and DirectX 11 just crashes whenever it wants to. It has caused me to have to repeat missions several times, and also lose items or vehicles. Not only that, there's so many other game-breaking bugs in here, it just feels like it was rushed and not polished properly. One of the fast travel points won't allow you to get it no matter what you do, so you can't 100% the game. You want to play multiplayer? Think again. It will either leave you on the loading screen forever or when the few times it DOES load, it will bug out so bad that you either crash or leave out of boredom. Fix your game.

Saints Row 1 & 2 laid the foundation for a franchise that could’ve genuinely rivaled Rockstar’s GTA. They built a gritty, grounded world with strong characters and compelling urban storytelling. Then Saints Row: The Third came along and shifted everything—it went full AAA spectacle. While it had some creative ideas and memorable moments, it started turning the series into a parody of itself. By the time Saints Row IV hit, the franchise had completely jumped the shark. It was still fun to mess around in, but let’s be honest—it obliterated any remaining trace of what the series originally stood for. Then came the reboot. It felt like a rushed, unfocused attempt to re-capture the lightning of The Third, while also trying to reboot the story from scratch. There was a chance for redemption if they had taken the tone and world seriously again. But instead, they doubled down on the goofy, over-the-top humor—except without the charm or satire that made it work before. The result? A shallow, inconsistent mess of a story and a tone that feels like it has no clue what it wants to be. In chasing the success of The Third, they lost what made Saints Row special to begin with—and in the process, ended up sabotaging their own legacy. The ideal path forward? A fresh studio formed by the original devs, crafting a new IP that captures the essence of what made Saints Row 1 and 2 great—tight gameplay, street-level drama, and that gritty, grounded world. Leave behind the over-the-top sci-fi antics and return to something real, immersive, and character-driven.

I beat the game after 11 hours. No energy or desire to go finish the DLC missions. Get it on sale, maybe for 5 dollars I could recommend it. In any other case, I don't think I can.

this game has done nothing but pizz on the saints row name by releasing a buggy half botched excuse of a "game", with the general feeling through out my time playing of.. idk lets add these game mechanics in and hope and pray it sticks, we won't worry about it feeling fluid or that anything is refined,, we gotta release this game now... and its been out for 3 whole YEARS.

The game is very buggy, and not true to the "OG" Saints Row. I bought this on sale for $6 and it wasn't even worth that.

God Forbid you get a towing cable upgrade for a bike and the lead flips...there's no way to get back on. or that bug where the main menu won't open and you can't get out of your car, meaning you lose all progress since your last autosave which could be upto 2 hours worth of progress.... But it's a fun game, so I thumbs up it once I get over the bugs. Protip: When they say DX12 is recommended for your old computer they MEAN it. The DX11 is much more buggy in my experience.

this is not Saints Row this is dog crap this not the Saints Row I knew and loved the best Saints Row games will always be Saints Row 1 & 2 in my mind they started to fall off with Saints Row 3 I will admit that the super powers in Saints Row 4 and Gat Out Of Hell were cool that's just about all they had going for them but this game was never about super powers it was about gangs and customization I think Volition and Deep Sliver went in a completely wrong direction with this game they missed the mark they're trying to be something they're not Saints Row has always been its own thing and Saints Row 1 & 2 will always have a place in my heart but this game is a disgrace to Saints Row I can tell by the characters this game is totally woke as well the dialog is super boring volition & deep silver don't ever make another Saints Row game again let it die you've ruined something that was once great this game is garbage i can't even recognize it as a Saints Row game there was also that Agents Of Mayhem spin off game but that sucked too it seems like a lot of game companies nowadays don't really care about making great games they only care about the money that's why i'll never never buy another COD game I've been done with COD I only see Rockstar and Bethesda making great games there may be a few other companies but I can't list them off the top of my head I wish game companies cared more about making great games I never post reviews on steam but this game was so horrible I had to post a review Saints Row more like Saints Blows! Saints Row 1 & 2 forever RIP Saints Row as an OG Saints Row player i'm telling you this right now don't buy this dumpster fire of a game buy some other game totally not worth the $30 to $40 this is a sad excuse of a game it should honestly be free even if it was it's still not worth playing at all I would give it two thumbs down!!! 0 stars 0 percent & 0 out of 10 dumpster fire cash grab do yourself a favor and buy some other game this one is a complete waste of money & time this is just not it I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone this game should be forgotten about

For sure underrated. Obviously it's not even close to being as good as Saints Row 1, 2, or 3, but it has a cheeky nature to it. I like like it personally.

its actually a fun game. i played it on epic and it was a good time. for some reason the steam version is unstable. just randomly crashing to desktop about 20 times in the 8 hours i've played. i've tried everything to make sure its not a my end problem. up to and including playing a couple hours on epic launcher, the problem only seems to be with the steam version. kind of a shame i was looking forward to all the dlc.

This game is a joke — and not in the fun, aesthetic way Saints Row used to be. From the very start, the experience is frustrating. The graphics settings are shockingly bad, featuring some of the worst brightness and contrast options I’ve ever seen in a modern release. It’s as if basic visual customization was an afterthought. As a longtime fan, it’s heartbreaking to see how far the series has fallen. Saints Row 2 was packed with charm, character, and pure fun. This reboot has none of that. It’s dull, lifeless, and completely lacking the spirit that made the originals so beloved. Do yourself a favor: skip this one and replay the classics instead.

Just finished the main campaign, still have a ton of *real* content to play with. Love the constant banter between characters during the missions, makes even semi-grinding missions far more enjoyable and immersive. The voice acting is superb, and with the "boss" having 8 voices to choose from, I wonder how different another playthrough might feel. I've found that this is where a lot of the modern A - AAA games go dreadfully wrong, terrible voice acting with limited repetitive interactions (looking at you Watchdogs Legion). The little details also show a certain amount of love was put into the game, things like the waffle being dropped on the floor in the interactive part, and having it still be there in the non-interactive cut sequence that followed, so many games would have just had the waffle vanish into the ether once the gag was over. It's not a perfect game, but then none of the Saint's games have ever been, I generally play them for what they are, a parody of GTA style games, with their over the top completely non-realistic physics, crazy character dialog, and as long as you're not a complete idiot, almost invincible main character that doesn't need any kind of covering or stealth mechanics, just run in guns blazing and soak up those bullets like a giant sponge. Vehicle handling is much better than most of the modern AAA's I've played in the last 10 years or so, it's not super realistic, but very playful and quite fun. Something other titles released around the same time completely failed at (i.e. Cyberpunk 2077, driving still sucks after countless patches). I guess my only real complaint is the vehicle and pedestrian spawn rates, they're far too low, and there doesn't appear to be a method to adjust it, the world often feels a little too empty, especially in the larger city areas. After a quest they can be completely empty until people and cars that spawn at the borders of your visibility slowly close the distance. I purchased the gold edition with most of the addons included for about $11 CDN and definitely got more than my money's worth, with some of the lack of polish, NPC's that occasionally seize up, and the occasional crash (~5 times over my 16 hours so far) I'm not sure if I would consider paying full price, but if you can find it on sale and enjoyed the previous versions, it's worth a playthorugh.

Is the game's story objectively bad? Yeah. However: You get a WHOLE lot of customization, to the point of replicating your D&D characters. The map is, frankly, fantastic. The vehicles have a good style, and unique handling alike. I have this many hours, merely because I've just been cruising around. I haven't touched the story. I haven't even unlocked car customization yet. The way I play it, it's a walking/driving simulator. Kinda equivalent to Just Cause 1 (2006) which... isn't great, but on sale I say get it for the character creator (and the fashion!!!)

Terrible money grab of a game. The only way this game could be saved is if a DLC is released where you and Johhny Gat systematically kill everyone else in the game. But you'd still be better off playing any other of the Saints Row games.

im not sure why everyone has such a bad opinion on this game other than having to accept the terms of "limited ownership" This is just about everything i could ask for in a saints game, the combat, characters, funny voice lines, goofy weapons, absurd dlc's. I mean the list goes on, if you can pick this up on sale or even not on sale its still worth it if you enjoyed all the past games

It's a good game. It doesn't have the same over-the-top comedy as Saints row 4 but the combat is good and I like the story. that being said, while the driving is good, the other cars AI is horrible. I lost count of how many times I've been going in a straight line, hit the boost then out of nowhere 2-3 cars decide to change lanes for no reason, and the amount of multi car pile ups at intersections stopping traffic.
Actually pretty fun. It was a steal on sale
I bought this later on sale, so they must have fixed a lot of the glitches I heard about. I could count the ones I had on one hand now. (And only once did it actually crash). With the exception of the Empire Table clipping in a cutscene or not having a map on it sometimes, most of them have been caused by my going too fast. This felt like an attempt to return to the old days of Saints Row 1 and 2, it didn't quite stick the landing, but you can see hints of the old DNA in there. You're still able to play in traffic for money. It's a new map that's not another recycled Steelport. The new characters aren't quite as iconic as the old crew, but they have their moments. And the game is still packed full of references, don't worry. Gameplay was pretty fun. Any game that lets me shove a grenade down the pants of my enemy at level 2 is off to a good start. In addition to driving, you now have a wingsuit. If you want to expand that experience, snag the gold edition or the Heist and the Hazardous DLC so you can have Pain and Gain. Exploit that weapon and you'll never be stuck running on foot. I was never hurting too badly for money until the postgame, when I was building out all the side businesses, so that should't impede one's playthrough. The postgame's final mission is a bit of a slog to afford, but the resulting party was amusing. And while it is optional, I recommend the LARP sidequests. They're a bunch of people playing Mad Max-style cosplay with Nerf guns in the desert, taking it way too seriously and being hilariously cheesy in the process. They went to the trouble of making and switching to non-lethal takedowns for the sake of that mode, too. You'll see your usually brutal finishing attacks replaced by deliberately stopping short or swinging wide or pretending to rip their heart out. (And there's a follow-up DLC if you need another fix). All in all, it ain't quite what it used to be, but the end result wasn't bad. Get it on sale and you won't have much to lose. You might enjoy it more than you expected.

The game is not bad. Its a really good remake of the first game. All bad reviews of this game are literally paid shills by GTA to get people to not want to play this game and to cause this game to die so that GTA can force people to play their woke anti white male garbage.
