"Welcome back, commander". Still excellent! Works with my ultrawide monitor by adding -xres 3440 -yres 1440 to the launch settings. Game is locked at 30fps, but Lossless Scaling's Multi Frame Gen does a nice job of making it feel more smooth.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™ stands as a landmark title in the real-time strategy genre, successfully reviving the classic formula that defined the series while introducing modern enhancements that appeal to both veterans and newcomers. Set in a futuristic world where the mysterious alien substance Tiberium threatens to consume the planet, the game immerses players in a high-stakes conflict between three distinct factions: the Global Defense Initiative (GDI), the Brotherhood of Nod, and the alien Scrin. Each faction offers unique units, strategies, and playstyles, adding depth and replayability to the core RTS experience. From the moment you dive into the campaign, it’s clear that Tiberium Wars balances narrative and gameplay expertly. The story is engaging, filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and epic battles that unfold across sprawling maps. Cutscenes featuring well-known actors and cinematic production values add personality and immersion without overshadowing the gameplay. The missions are thoughtfully designed, offering a variety of objectives that keep the pacing fresh. Whether it’s base-building, resource management, or all-out combat, every mission feels meaningful and contributes to the larger war effort. Gameplay mechanics are finely tuned, striking a satisfying balance between strategy and action. Resource gathering through Tiberium harvesting is central, requiring players to protect their harvesters while efficiently expanding their bases. The tech trees are diverse, with each faction boasting distinctive technologies and powerful superweapons that can turn the tide of battle. Combat itself is fast-paced yet strategic; unit counters and terrain use are important, and micro-management can make the difference between victory and defeat. Multiplayer modes extend the game’s lifespan significantly, offering balanced competitive play and a variety of modes that cater to different skill levels. The visual and audio design of Command & Conquer 3 is a standout feature. The graphics, while dated by today’s standards, were impressive at launch and still hold nostalgic appeal with detailed units, explosive effects, and dynamic environments. Sound design is immersive, from the distinctive weapon sounds to the iconic voice acting that gives life to units and commanders. The soundtrack complements the tense, militarized atmosphere perfectly, enhancing the emotional stakes of the conflict. One of the strengths of Tiberium Wars lies in its accessibility without sacrificing depth. New players can quickly grasp the basics thanks to intuitive controls and helpful tutorials, while experienced RTS enthusiasts will find layers of complexity to master. The game rewards strategic thinking and adaptability, especially in multiplayer, where predicting enemy moves and effective resource control are key. Its well-balanced factions ensure that no single playstyle dominates, encouraging experimentation and skill development. While the game has aged, some minor issues like pathfinding quirks and occasional AI inconsistencies persist, but they rarely detract from the overall experience. Community mods and patches have helped maintain the game’s relevance, and the strong multiplayer community continues to breathe life into the title years after release. In summary, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™ remains a definitive RTS experience that combines a compelling narrative, polished gameplay, and memorable aesthetics. Its blend of classic and modern elements makes it a must-play for fans of the genre and a benchmark for strategy games that followed. Whether tackling the campaign or engaging in intense multiplayer battles, players are treated to a rich, satisfying war simulation that stands the test of time. Rating: 8/10

2007... almost 20 years of this game... and it's still one of the best RTS games of all time... great graphics, great gameplay, and probably Westwood's last masterpiece... don't miss this chance...

The campaign is really poor. The difficulty level starts at very hard and increases from there. I honestly do not notice a difference between normal and easy. Probably because the campaign just ends with little resolution, so they needed to pad it out by making it harder. They must have run out of time when making the game. Edit: Comparing an easy mode 1.0 speedrun to what I played through, maybe it was adjusted in a patch? Units blend into their surroundings and tend to look similar to each other. Difficult to see what or where your unit are. Deselected an engineer? Sorry, he's lost forever. Easier to build a new one. Minimap is similar, low contrast and difficult to parse. Dark team colours on dark terrain. Units die the second you look away. Pathfinding is questionable, which makes the low time to kill worse if units make incorrect movements. Interface to handle base construction and unit production is old and not in a good way. Lots of clicks that could be shaved away. Lots of unit abilities that need to be targeted individually, making playing the game a nightmare. Command and Conquer generals came out before this, from memory that was a much better game and campaign. The only positives: Kane. The NOD siege tank that dynamically combines laser beams is cool.

I think I prefer the Generals and Zero Hour graphics. But I'm playing the whole C&C/Red Alert series through; too much free time on my hands.....

Decent strategy game. Needs some mods as apparently the latest multiplayer patch also screwed up the singleplayer balance, making the campaigns unintentionally hard. Even with the mod reverting the difficulty, some of the missions (final Nod mission) are way too hard. Pathing and unit commands are a bit weird - it felt like you really had to fight sometimes to get units to go where you wanted them, and on more than a few occasions my commando got shredded because they straight up refused to engage other units until they were practically touching. Regardless, you get two decently long campaigns plus a short bonus one where you play as the aliens, which is great fun. Cutscenes are good quality as well. If you've played previous CnC games this is an easy recommend.
