I played this game 7 years ago on Android and it was a lot of fun. Now, with everything they’ve added, it’s like pure drugs. I would not recommend it.

Very fun to learn and play. I think it really is one of those games that you should try to learn by yourself before looking at anything online.

There is a lot to like about Mindustry, and if you come from playing a lot of factorio or similar, you'll find a familiar feeling. The sound design is wonderful, it's soothing even in battle, the music complimenting it well. The art is great and the game worked smoothly.
What it suffers from however is a case of "too much". There are just too many buildings, resources; too much messing about. Because of this the missions feel like a never ending series of tutorials, every level designed to make you learn the next thing, then the next, and so on. I would have loved to feel like I was actually playing the game, instead I felt railroaded as there was a huge database of stuff to learn. I eventually got tired of starting a level and being given a vague idea of what I needed to learn next, all the while being annoyingly nipped at by the enemy. Perhaps I'd have loved the game if I'd completed level five million of the tutorial, i mean 'campaign', but I never got there. I absolutely adore factorio style games, always have, and this misses the mark by feeling clunky.
I think what heavily contributes to the clunky feel is the belt system. As a core mechanic of this genre it has to be absolutely flawless, instead I found it frustrating much of the time. Simply the fact I could only drag straight lines and had to let go and grab again to turn corners was annoying. While dragging belts it was easy to accidentally feed into other belts as you built, requiring certain techniques to be used by the player instead of the mechanics remedying this. Placing routers next to neighbouring belts messed everything up so I was constantly having to airgap my belts or fiddle around with them. Having all router type components automatically export to all sides makes them a dead zone for all other belts, and that makes building very annoying for no good reason. With all this belt frustration, it was then more annoying than fun for a building, or chain of buildings, to request a multitude of resources. I don't mind the fact the belts aren't double sided like factorio, honestly I prefer it, but if they are already taking up double the space, it's awful to force air gaps to take up even more. It made copy pasting hardly worth it as the whole design was often so clunky it didn't tile well. I did find the armoured belt and realised it'd ignore a side by side router, but it didn't always ignore them so didn't solve it entirely.
The pathfinding was awkward with units constantly getting stuck on each other trying to get through the same gap, requiring micromanaging movement at times.
It was never entirely clear where I was on the map, and where I'd be attacked from and with what. So I was having to cover every side instead of being able to focus on a defensible front or two. The enemy AI would cruise past my early turrets and sit out of their range and harass me. This is all fine to work around, but it's an annoying because as mentioned earlier, I'm trying to learn the latest of the many random buildings, resources and things needed for this stage of the 'tutorial'.
It's not a terrible game, and I'd give it a 5/10 probably if that were an option, but it doesn't quite cross the threshold into a thumb up for me. The reality is I quit the game because I simply wasn't having any fun. I looked at sandbox and there were just so many units and buildings I hadn't seen yet it wasn't worth it.
I can tell a lot of work has gone into the game, it has a lot of depth and that for sure will keep die hard long term players who stuck in there to learn it all. I respect the craftsmanship, but it misses the mark in game design.

I have always wanted to play RTS games but I am VERY bad at them. The campaign in Mindustry is very well put-together and I can play by myself at my own pace (or with friends!) The developer is extremely passionate and talented about this work and I recommend it to anyone wanting to try a beginner friendly RTS game. This game also has a very active and competitive multiplayer scene if you are looking for that too!

This is a great game with many many hours of fun, creative gameplay. It allows for friends to join in any level at any time without having to restart a level.

Genuinely one of the most addicting games I've ever played. Simple to learn, simple but nice graphics, easy controls, tons of content and great atmosphere. And not only it is a factory builder but also a tower defense and a RTS. Absolutely phenomenal game.

Mom i want factorio! We have factorio at home. Minwiel factorio at home.
I dont want to say Mindustry is bad, but playing it after factorio is almost impossible for how simple it is.
No updarade for dmg, for your ship.
But enemies assault your base in insane waves in late game and some maps really fun.

This game is addicting! Lots of fun for a group of friends. Love the graphics and the sound my conveyor belts make when I place them. Usually survival with a group is my go to with great map and game play options!

Just touched the surface of this game and it is so much fun. I am excited to get into the higher levels in the campaign and see what it has in store for me. It is such a well designed problem solving game. challenging and fun.

I love everything up until it comes to the logic, which controls units and without proper knowledge are unable to make the most use of them and are also limited in a great many other ways such as building faster, defense, and also anything to do with smart factories.

Poor developement, polishing, balancing - there's very little mods, most not updated - building mechanics suck and gameplay is very limited and boring after the first few levels. There's definitely something fun about it, but it really is just garbage .... I think it stopped developement completely in 2021 and since then has gone in a different direction so there's whole mechanics that are not usable anymore...
The game is extremely bland in application. Combat is wave-based, it's a cool tower defense concept - it's really great - but it falls off in how it's difficult. It's not so much that each wave is difficult, which it should be, but that waves spam at you, every minute 30 enemies come in and destroy everything they see -- it's basic -- it can be difficult only in that it spams waves - but after a point it becomes ridiculously easy, like every wave right after the other getting obliterated at the same spot --
But then there's a final boss - which is interesting ... annnnd it just have 500 million trillion health and flys over obstacles ... this is like the 7th level ....

Unfortunately I have to get a refund, because this game intentionally doesn't allow us to rebind keys to numerical numbers (Num 1, 2, 3, ..., 0) - it treats them the same as 1,2,3, ..., 0.

Factorio with a purpose, but more of a tug of war type game. Both games you really lose track of time and can't stop playing.

Love the idea, but I program for a living, I don't want to do it in game.
If it was a bit more quasi programming I might like it more. I might be missing some easier way to do thing, but I really don't want to be programming while I play a game.

Setup some mines and turrets fed the ammo to the turrets and collected resources in the base. Set up a sweet maze of the copper wall for the 1-4 little dudes to walk through while my turrets gunned them down with ease. Wait for like 2-3 minutes for 1-4 more little dudes to approach and die easily. After I think 11 or 12 waves with the 2-3 minute wait time between each approach I just couldn't do it anymore. Somehow I played this game for 4 hours? I don't remember any of those hours no idea I even played this game that long. Not exactly sure what makes this game fun so to those of you that DO enjoy this well game on!! Back to scrolling the store for me.

Normally i fucking love these types of games, And until this review, i fucking LOVED this game
HOW FUCKING EVER
there is a mission in the erekir campaign called "basin" which is so, unbelievably, mind BOGGLINGLY terrible
it ruined the literal entire experience i had of this game
I've played a lot of games before, and some of them usually have some bad missions which leave a bad taste in your mouth well after your done playing, but this mission left a taste so bad i cant even motivate myself to hit play again
if you can get past this mission without pulling out literally all of your hair after wasting 2 hours or more, the rest of the game will probably be just as good as the missions before it, but this mission literally ruined this game for me
also apparently the enemy can recapture zones you've already won???
update: old campaign also sucks massive ass, pretty much right off the bat, first mission is boring as hell, even for a tutorial, and the second mission ramps up pretty fast ESPECIALLY if your still figuring out how to play. i understand some games are hard but having many of the missions be "play for 30 minutes so you can fail and THEN learn how to beat it" kinda sucks massive ass
co-op is crazy fucking shit for alot of reasons, dont even attempt
multiplayer is pretty nice id say but that's literally about it for this game

The game gets too repetitive too fast. Its the same thing time and time again, build a base, get the resources, make a defense, and then just wait... and wait for the waves to end and move on. On most areas i couldnt even properly make a cool megabase before the wave ended and it didnt matter anymore since there was nothing to prepare for. The only thing you need to prepare for is going to the next zone which, again hardly matters because it repetitive and its a really simple concept. It would be better if not only SOME zones had certain materials, i WANT titanium conveyors please??? im not gonna wait 48 hours for my stupid copper to go into my duo just for it to lose it all after shooting at the 3 goddamn enemies on wave 18, the waves are super pathetic and give no sense of threat atall if you understand them, they spawn like 1 enemy for the first couple and add one every so often. at the end there might be a boss but its so easy at that point the SIMPLEST defense can kill it. I do like how its similar to factorio, and the automation sense of it.

At the time of writing, the description of this product reads as follows:
> An open-ended factory management game with RTS and tower defense elements.
I'm a big fan of the idea behind factorio/mindustry, but they don't support RTS controls. When I saw "with...RTS...elements" I read "might support RTS controls." Turns out, it does not do that.
When I went the "feature request" route and expressed my desire for this feature (what I consider to be an accessibility feature because the existing factorio style control scheme is dizzying and disorienting to me), I was met with hostility, condescension, insults, and blanket dismissal of the mere mention of this as "entitlement" and not literally just a request for a feature in a form labelled "feature request".
So I can't play the game because the control scheme is inverted from my expectations, and the developer was hostile towards me, with only 6 minutes of play time to show for it.
"This game isn't for you" is usually reserved for people who don't like something thematically. This is the first time I've seen that ever used when someone asks for a different control scheme. I love this style of game, I really really want to play factorio and mindustry. I am THE TARGET DEMOGRAPHI, but can I just get the same control scheme that 99% of top down games have used since the dawn of computer gaming?

Needs more polish.
I keep asking myself "why is this working the way it does?". Constantly...
I cant differentiate different buildings as they look too much alike.
Even with tooltips i have a hard time telling what on earth am i looking at and what does it do?
I have a hard time finding the buildings i need from the building list. Some of the category images make no sense and could be way clearer. Again.. doesn't help that i can't differentiate different buildings from the looks.
The info panel doesn't tell the difference between different units and building list could also have more information..
How am i supposed to tell if i want a ship manufacturer or mech? What is Elude? Merui? What does it do?
Its hard to differentiate different materials as they also look much alike and material recipes don't tell the name of the materials, only image.. How i'm supposed to know what material the building wants when i cant differentiate the images and why do i have to open the stupid info panel every time to see that information..
The belts are very annoying to work with and compact designs feel impossible to make.
Different materials seem to "appear" on belts they are not supposed to be on;
I obviously made a mistake somewhere, but its really hard to figure out where?.. Its unreasonably hard to understand what belt, router connects to where.
The belt bridges connect to everything and there doesn't seem to be an option to disconnect them; tho i read on Reddit that it works differently on the other planet. If that's the case, WHY? Just makes no sense.
The tech tree feels very messy.
It is categorized, but the information of what is where just isn't there.
I'm sure there is more, but i can't remember them right now.

I found this game to be crazy addictive, playing for hours and staying up WAY too late. After 80+ hours of playing it's somewhat out of my system since I've hit a bit of a wall of the waves coming faster and stronger than I've been expecting but I think I just have to change my strategy. A great game with that keeps you entertained.
