Score: 3/5 A moderate drop in quality from the base game. If you love Monster Train and really want more content, and can get this DLC for <$5, it's probably worthwhile. The Good 1. The new clan is visually distinct and has moderately novel/interesting mechanics. 2. More variety for each run. 3. Higher challenge level than base game. 4. A moderate amound of the new artifacts are well-balanced. 5. Easy to disable the added content if you want to do vanilla runs again. The Bad 1. Moderately Strong Imbalance / Poor Execution Although the new clan is mostly balanced, over half of the new mechanics and events are too weak on the player side, and too strong on the enemy side. While I almost always played on the max covenant rank in the base game for a satisfying challenge, I struggled to complete a run while engaging with the Last Divinity content on the lowest covenant rank, due to the absurd difficulty spikes required to reach it. Engaging with the Pact Shard content without the intent to face the last divinity is also very difficult on covenant rank 20, as difficulty spikes too hard, requiring more luck than skill compared to the base game. This also meant I ended up skipping cave content significantly more than the base game, as a moderate amount of the events were related to Pact Shards. 2. Too much visual clutter on screen to facilitate the new mechanics/interlinked systems. It's tolerable, but unpleasant.

Required DLC. Not only does it add more stuff, but it opens up the gameplay and allows even more freedom to create broken combinations.
