Monster Train

Now that Monster Train 2 has been released, you should just get Monster Train 2 - it is a strict improvement over the original. The only thing I think it has that the sequel doesn't is a multiplayer mode that I don't think is big enough to make it a better pick than the sequel. That said, this is still a very good game - lots of build variety, lots of potential for breaking the game, and a high but fair amount of challenge on the highest difficulties. I like the game loop - it's unique among roguelikes without feeling forced like a lot of "unique" roguelikes out there can feel sometimes. There's just very little reason to buy this over MT2 unless you really want to support the devs.

I like Slay the Spire, but I am not a huge fan. Slay the Spire is good. Monster Train... is also good. In my eyes equally. Monster Train doesn't just steal the concept of its predecessor, but brings a lot of new and actually functioning ideas. There's more "deck kinds" than in StS, but the builds feel a bit less complex, more intuitive and definitely less RNG-based. Up to you if you see it as a positive or negative. Ultimately though, there's once again no other goal than to finish the basic run with harder and harder restrictions, which is one of the issues I have with this type of game. Still a good fun for a fair amount of hours.

A fun card game in the same vein as Slay the Spire. I highly recommend if your into this type of game. I find it fun when I don't have much time to hop on and do a few battles and hop off between tasks during the day.

A pretty balanced game, which is an achievement in this genre. It offers something to everyone, from casuals to hardcore covenant climbers.

Holy smokes, I've had this game in my library for months but completely forgot about it. Luckily thanks to this horrible hardcore wipe in tarkov, I have finally escaped tarkov and decided to look through the games that I already own. Wowza, first impressions are great. It feels like slay the spire but yet it is still plenty unique, definitely worth the play through. I have noticed there is a sequel out now but I am having so much fun with this, I definitely see myself playing both games. Well done!

Amazing game its tons of replayability, worth the money.

this is the first card game I've found that can really hold my attention in a similar way to slay the spire did when I first found card games. i really like how the game let's you customize your upgrades on spells and units (you slot in gems that power them up in different ways)... this gives run progression more depth than most i've seen monster train is definitely a top tier deck-builder I have no experience with the sequel, but OG monster train is still well polished, satisfying, and deep in 2025. I would recommend for anyone who is into deck-building games

A bit like slay the spire, but took a bit longer to figure out what was going on. Fun for game where you just want to chill and not think too much.

Fun game, similar to Slay the Spire but didn't hold my attention as long. After the first win, I found it difficult to have fun with the other decks. Think that there could be better balancing to involve more strategy with cards, often felt like I had no other choice but to exhaust all cards every turn.

Deep, engaging roguelike. Interface is smooth. Not much story to speak of, but that's not why anyone's here.
