Must play game ! Katana Zero is just amazing whether talking about its gorgeous art style and its amazing neon theme . This Action platformer is quite an experience. The character itself is the eptiome of savagery and you are a samurai , what else you would need ? Every kill you make gives you a satisfaction ! Dodging the bullets , stealth , gripping story and you are a drug addict as well. Every single room is basically a puzzle. You walk in, take a breath, figure out your attack plan, and then it's all about executing it perfectly. If you haven't played it yet, you're genuinely missing out , i mean i was too until now ! but better late then never i guess. It's a masterclass in game design. The gameplay loop is so tight and addictive, and the story is so compelling and mature that you just won't want to put it down. The game won't let you down . well people have different opinions but its highly unlikely that the game won't reach upto your standards of what a platformer should be like . Surely you should give this a try if you haven't yet. Recommended.

An absolute indie gem. The recent free DLC teaser finally convinced me to buy this game, and man was it a hella wild ride. I could not stop playing this game for hours dude. This game is so fun to get good at and it is so satisfying to play and deflect bullets. The story is really good to because of how invested you get into the important characters and even the less important characters are cool to chat with. My only problem with the game is that it is not that long, but luckily we are getting a DLC that will be FREE! Buy this game asap you will not regret it if you are cool man. 9/10

I legit cant believe how overly emotional this game was. Besides the amazingly fluid but sometimes infuriating game play, it is just INCREDIBLE. The story is surprisingly gritty, dirty, dystopian. How it should be. Amazing experience.

Best 2D game I have ever played. The dynamic neon lightning mixed sith the amazing pixel art gives that cyberpunk feel to it. Music fits the level your playing fantastic and is generally really awesome. Gameplay is fast, exciting and so f****** satisfying. Story is also great and I you can really feel whats happening thanks to the overall atmosphere. Cannot wait for the DLC and I'll sure play a lot more. Thank you Askiisoft!!

It's games like this that inspire me to work on my own game to earn the title of 'game developer'. Askiisoft nails gripping gameplay and story telling which continues to evolve it over the course of the entire game. They truly show off their talent in understanding what players want and keep them wanting more. 10/10 Buy the fucking game.

This game is so good, so much mystery to be unraveled. I just have to play more to find out everything. And to anyone who enjoyed this game I would highly recommend Sanabi, very similar art style and in some aspects similar story.

Bro I don't even understand the plot of this game and I still think it's peak. Katana ZERO is a game that I had been sleeping on for a while. It was on my radar of 'games that would probably be cool but i might not like them' but god was I wrong. The story is deep and cryptic but not extremely difficult to understand. It's super fast paced and the combat is simple but REALLY satisfying. The world is corrupt and the characters feel real. You start out having no clue what you're doing or where you are and by the end (if you've been paying attention) you might understand why this dude in a bathrobe is going around committing mass genocide. If you are thinking about getting this game you need to change that NOW. 10/10

Its fun but I wont lie when I say I was beyond frustrated when the game just abruptly ended. this may be harsh but in my opinion if you say a game is fully released you should be able to finish creating the whole plot of the game. If the DLC does come out this review will stay positive.

holy shit is this game fun. First of all the soundtrack is banging and the combat is insanely fun. Did not expect it to have such a nice story and plot twist, and to top it off the speedrunning mode is some of the best fun ive had in a while. cant wait to 100% and to play the dlc. 10/10 icl

I normally don't write reviews for games, but this game was honestly incredible. The combat and controls we're tight and satisfying, the story was quite gripping (although a bit confusing/ambiguous at times), the art is beautiful, and the music is perfect. What else could you possibly ask for? The game makes you "feel" like a samurai badass by letting you fail at each level over and over again while getting slightly further each time. By the end of each level, you've killed the same dudes in the same configurations so many times that you have optimized every movement to be fast and precise. Thus, the somewhat difficult nature of the game is actually completely necessary for that samurai feeling. Some levels, especially towards the end, are VERY punishing, especially if you're someone that isn't used to technical, fast-paced games. This isn't necessary a bad thing, just something to look out for. The story, like mentioned above, is a bit confusing and ambiguous. Again - not necessarily a bad thing - but it's something to look out for if you want a story that's wrapped up neatly with a bow. TLDR: [b]Buy this game[/b]. Seriously. It's a masterpiece of game design, story-telling, art, and music.

Amazing game comprising a high enough (but not too high) skill curve with it's one shot, one kill mechanic. If you're a major fan of the Hotline Miami series like I am, you will love this game's beautiful cyberpunk aesthetic and killer soundtrack.

Brilliant. Quick trigger action with better controls than hotline Miami. Once I got use to the mechanics, every death felt like it was my fault. You will die a lot, but you get back in to the action right away. Highly addictive. Interesting plot. Gameplay is tight. It respects your time. I hope to replay it in the future. Short little game thats definitely worth checking out.

Possibly the most stylish game I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Gorgeous art, brilliant soundtrack, and a surprisingly engaging story with heavy psychological themes. The controls are tight, the levels are well designed (and often brutally difficult; you WILL die over and over and you'll come back for more). Overall an incredible experience that I highly recommend.

It took two days for me to beat this game, and one hour for it to become one of my all time favourites. Similar to Hotline Miami: 80s aesthetic, everyone (including you) dies in one hit, psychological narrative that blurs the lines of reality, only this game is a 2D platforming hack-n-slash. It's like a puzzle game with swords, you'll be using your surroundings and making clever use of bullet time to seamlessly weave through rooms. Respawns are speedy so when you inevitably fail you can get right back into the action. Even if the gameplay doesn't hook you its incredibly engaging narrative will have you asking so many questions and keep you chasing the answers. It's about to get some free DLC so there's really no better time to jump in. 10/10

awesome action and awesome music deflecting projectiles is pure sex best enjoyed without using the slow-motion too often the excessive hitstop somewhat holds back the action but you can disable it in the settings, that can make the game a lot tougher though

Probably one of the best games i've played. There are so many easter eggs and secrets in this game, and the core gameplay is also amazing. Would buy even if you don't like the genre. (Really good soundtrack as well)

this game slaps so hard. im a huge fan of hotline miami and this game gave me that same adrenaline rush and the satisfaction of having a clean run is so good. story also really grabbed my interest and im super excited to see more of katana zero with the dlc and hopefully a sequel

although not too long, this game was very hyped up and it deserves the hype. the music was fantastic, the gameplay was fun and fast, and the story was not lacking in any part

This is not my usual type of game, hack'n slash, platformers - neither are really among my usual genres, but spotify would not STOP insisting on me listening to the soundtrack for this game, and eventually I did. One banger soundtrack led to another, and eventually I found myself reading up on the lore, I am a sucker for complex characters like Zero, so I was immediately hooked, and even though I spoiled myself for most of the game right off the bat by devouring its lore like it is a plate of cold pizza at 3 AM, I still wanted to play it, and it was definitely worth it! Can't wait for the DLC!

Katana ZERO is a great, short, linier game. It has a fun gameplay loop, awesome sound design and a bit confusing, yet interesting story. The fast gameplay and the slow-mo ability makes you feel super cool. Also I really liked the way they used the rewind ability for different interesting sceneries. The game wasn’t a wow experience for me, but it does its job at being a nice refresher from big games. Also I heard there’s a DLC coming, so I’m kinda excited to see what it has to offer. Overall Katana Zero is worth it, and I recommend it. I rate this game 8.6/10.

If you love fast paced games Katana Zero is for you. The gameplay is really fun, it's a bit like hotline miami but there you have way more trial and error. The soundtrack in this game is amazing, the visuals are really good. The story is dark, it's full of mystery until the end and even then some of your questions aren't answered. I genuinely expected just a fun game without much story but I was left happily surprised by the end. Overall this game is amazing and if you are wondering if you should get it, if you like 2d games, do it, if you like fast paced games, do it, if you don't mind having to retry some of the sections again and again cuz you keep failing, get it. And if you played Hotline Miami you're probs gonna like this game

Really amazing game, with a twist I didn't really expect at all. Fucking insane the dev still hasn't made the DLC but it's nothing that can be done about it i guess. It's probably hard to create something when you're trying to make some satisfying ending everyone can appreciate.

I haven't had this much fun playing a video game in a long time. On the outside this game looked like everything I was searching for. It had a distinct art style, awesome music direction, and satisfying combat. As I looked for other reviews of this game the only negative that people brought up was "A story that seemed to save its best ideas for a sequel." I would disagree strongly with that gripe. I think the story in this game was incredibly well written and well executed. I got sucked into this game so deeply I finished it in only 2 sessions that were about 3 hours. If anyone asks me about this game I will tell them to get it whether it is on sale or not. If you are reading this wondering if you should buy this game, please do. This game truly stands out in my many years of gaming.

If you're a fan of pixel art/animation, music, simple controls, action, and an engaging story, please pick this game up.
