Another Roguelike that uses the genre's difficulty to not bother with balancing. Every run is primarily dependent on luck since the item economy, the action economy and the encounters are wildly unbalanced. Many combats will be decided at the start because enemies will often spawn with perfect placement for their specific decks. Even if you survive those combats you'll be left too damaged to have any hope of finishing the run. The random encounters are few and far between, you'll have seen them all after a few hours. Most are too detrimental to be useful. The writing is terrible. Lots of of sentences that run too long with not much to say. There are a lot of grammatical and spelling mistakes, Very fun and interesting concept, but this game should still be in development. I'd say I wish there were difficulty setting, but if the developers added these it would only show how broken the game really is.

Sadly, I can't recommend this. I like the idea, and it looks pretty neat, but it's just not very good. There are hardly any interesting combos or synergies, and battles feel slow and have very little variation. There's also not much interesting in terms of events or strategic choices during the run. Lastly, the music is very generic and repetitive and really gets on my nerves.

Is it perfect? No Does it have bugs that force you to quit and restart the match? Yes Are the drivers and vehicles equally viable? No BUT!!!! Those are not reasons to hate a game. I just got 100% on the achievements and in the last 5 races, easily won. SO, it's a fair game for sure. The way I view the different drivers and vehicles is that they represent harder runs, while some make the game a walk in the park. Once you figure the gameplay loop, the game becomes so fun and I've had a blast these last few hours getting all the achievements. Get the game, don't be a baby about how hard it is, and have fun smashing cars

As a big fan of roguelike deckbuilders, I loved what I initially saw (and played) of Death Roads: Tournament. It's got some neat mechanics and thematically/aesthetically it's really well put together. Like others, I seem to be hitting a wall in the difficulty curve where my progression is fully in the hands of RNG and even then, it feels like a very steep curve to beat. The meta progression is something, but you can't peak at anything to come really and the playstyle doesn't vary up with those rewards fast enough. I deperately wanted to love this game and I do like it. It has a good foundation. It just needs to more varied runs and playstyles and either a smaller difficulty curve or better meta progression. Still, fun for a good chunk of time!

Nice graphics and that is is. Gameplay is terribly random, there is no learning curve or skill involved. Its too random to be fun.

Maybe on sale it will be something to grab if you like the theme or concept at least. I wanted to like it. I've tried going back to play it a few times and just something about it that isn't grabbing me properly. Sometimes it shows its potential, though they released (luckily hit that point at least given how a lot of early access drop the ball before then) and let it die from that point. I think to me the effort to get things done just doesn't seem equal to the thought and time to do it.
