This game is the most underrated Turn Based SRPG ever made. It's crazy how many people leave this game off best tactics rpg lists, like it doesn't even exist. It's the living definition of a slept on gem. * Probably the best animated game in the genre. With nice clean but unique almost pixar style of graphics. * lot's of content with the DLC's that expand the campaign, with a bunch of secrets/optional content. * Interesting cast of characters based on a group of fantasy Stereotype losers. Every character has a lot of personality. * The battles are engaging, polished and well crafted. Lots of gear and builds to play around with. Steals smart elements from Xcom like games. (they have now added an option to speed up the enemy turns, which helps to remedy the complaints that it's too slow.) * Leave the melodrama at the door, this is a comedic game that parodies fantasy tropes, for a change. A big plus in my eyes. I see most of the time the game is criticised its for the humor, which is admittedly not for everyone. Alot of people say it's cringe, but I think those people need to get over themselves. In a world of games filled with angsty brooding teenagers and political drama. I found it a breath of fresh air that even gave me the occasional chuckle.

Good fun if you like dungeon crawlers, funny writing but not to much of it (which I liked). Mostly typical fantasy rpg tropes with breaking 4th wall. Ogre was super fun and a bit unusual in gameplay but all characters were interesting and provided a lot of tactical/progression decisions. Great combat (if a little bit easy when min/max but that's typical), enemies varied enough. Some inventory shuffling that felt like ashed down Diablo, but that's every rpg for you. Much better combat, writing and story than Tactical Breach Wizards (which is a puzzle game), but with more filler so generally longer game (feels more like rpg). I don't feel like playing DLC, game could be 10h shorter.

Great idea to parody the RPG genre in a RPG game but poorly executed. Plot is boring, gameplay is so slow, and the the jokes are terrible (binsc and moo, really, is that the best you can do...) If you want to experience a well-written and clever parody, play Penultima Rerolled by Stefan Gagne for Neverwinter Nights.

Its just, SOO SLOOWWW As if turn based combat wasnt already molasses, you also have to wait for endless comments that each have a delay, and nothing else can happen while theyre speaking. Its exhausting. Theres this wierd pause in between each dialog, while the camera shifts, and then they speak. H.O.L.Y. shit, is this slow! Its not taking anything seriously, if you couldnt tell from the store page. Its like the "Scary Movie" of D&D style crpg. The characters act like caricatures of the stereotypical roles they represent. Its very linear. Quests, progression, and equipment all feel very linear. Perhaps this changes later. Ive only played for 3 hrs, and I am just not enjoying this. You get to equip your characters with class specific loot. Not too deep, but its great to have that added layer of depth. The graphics are clean. Well done. not going for realism, obviously, which can work. The game is regularly shifting and replacing your character. Atleast for the opening hours. The combat is a little TOO simple, and this is a problem with alot of todays turn based games. they dont offer much, and combat ends up feeling repetitive and samey, while also being slow, and drawn out. I used to enjoy them, but am finding them less and less enjoyable as time goes on. I much prefer Real Time combat. It doesnt help that theres 10 new turn based titles every week. And most egregious, as is also a staple of the xcom style combat, the %hit chance that always seems to disfavor the player, and favor the computer. Its not your imagination. Yes, the computer is getting critical hits and successes, while youre missing flanked shots, and regular critical failures. Ive tried a few of the boss battles, and theyre just cheap. Im now fighting the evil thief, and its just a map full of enemies, and more enemies throughout. he disappears, runs, sets off traps, all his minions utilize status ailments, and it takes several attacks to kill every single enemy.. Even CHICKENS FFS! This is very poorly designed. Rather than try and craft a fun encounter, they just throw alot of enemies, status ailments, traps, exploding barrels, and a boss who has multiple AP and more than triple the HP he had when he was your teammate. Im playing on the next to lowest difficulty, and enemies constantly dodge the rare moment where I get to attack, rather than buff or heal. Meanwhile, they ONLY attack, and its always a flanked attack, or a backstab. Im actually annoyed that its THIS difficult, on such a low setting. Even with 7 characters, I am lucky to get off 3 attack in a round.. And of those, only 1 might actually land. Do the math, and this combat goes on far too long. TLDR: Its just not very good. Ive tried to keep pushing on, making it to Chapter 3, but its really just not a fun game. The developers make the player overly weak, and even rat mobs overly powerful. The story and humor are nowhere near good enough to put up with the annoying combat I am genuinely sorry that I did not refund it.
