Although, it is an improvement over its predecessor on graphics, sounds and visuals. The game over all fails to give the user the satisfaction the first one gives. I liked the first game, it was keeping the tradition inherited from the panzer general series however this one fails to do so. Overly extended gameplay and forcing you to farm prestige points beyond necessary... this is a disappointment for me. I must tell you I am a veteran on turn based games especially hundreds of hours burned on PG-1 , PG-2, PG-III (which is the first 3D /isometric release of the title) series as well as PanzerCorps series. (I guess this last sentence exposed my age) But all in all, this one is just not for me. let me give you a one sentence comment by the good old gamespot titles: "Almost but not quite"

lack of a re playable dynamic campaign and not just scenario's is a blatant oversight in this game. not re-playable game outside of just individual missions. there's better out there!

I held off buying this game because it was listed as incompatible on the Steam deck which is a deal breaker for me. I saw a video of someone playing it on the deck though, so I decided to give it a try. It actually works perfectly and flawlessly on the Steam deck straight away with zero adjustments whatsoever, so this game should absolutely be listed as playable now. The game doesn’t show controller icons like A or B button, but it took all of two minutes if that to figure out which steam deck button did what I needed, super simple really. With that out of the way, I absolutely love everything about this game! I played the original Panzer Corps and this game so far has been everything I had hoped for in a sequel and more. Panzer Corps 2 is bigger, better, and more immersive for me in every way than the original Panzer Corps, and I’m sure I will sink many more hours into it before moving on to the DLC. The strategic depth of the gameplay, and variety of options available in setting up each campaign exactly how you like are phenomenal. If, like me, you held off on Panzer Corps 2 because of the supposed deck incompatibility, it runs flawlessly and looks amazing on the deck! What a treat to be able to play this strategy gem on the couch or on the go. I would whole heartedly recommend this game to any and every strategy gaming fan.

Panzer Corps 2 is a masterclass in turn-based strategy design, offering a modern yet faithful reimagining of classic World War II wargaming. Developed by Flashback Games and published by Slitherine Ltd., this sequel builds upon the solid foundation of the original Panzer Corps, itself a spiritual successor to the revered Panzer General series. With its impressive depth, streamlined mechanics, and richly detailed unit management, Panzer Corps 2 succeeds in delivering a strategy experience that is both intellectually engaging and highly replayable. At the heart of Panzer Corps 2 is its meticulous turn-based gameplay. Set primarily on the European front of WWII, the game casts you as the commander of the German Wehrmacht in a lengthy series of operations that span historical, alternate-history, and fantasy scenarios. Players must maneuver infantry, armor, artillery, and air units across a series of hex-based maps, each one demanding calculated decision-making. Every move counts: positioning, flanking, supply lines, weather conditions, and terrain must all be considered when planning attacks or defensive holds. The “overrun” mechanic, where tanks can sweep through weakened enemy positions, adds an extra layer of tactical nuance that makes every skirmish thrilling and rewarding. One of the most compelling aspects of Panzer Corps 2 is its massive unit variety and customization options. With over 1,000 units from across the major WWII powers—including Germany, the USSR, the U.S., and Britain—each faction comes with its own set of strengths, weaknesses, and tech trees. Units can be upgraded, equipped with special traits, and carried over from mission to mission in campaign mode, building a sense of progression and attachment. The core army you develop evolves into a veteran force that reflects your strategic style, whether you favor aggressive armored assaults, meticulous artillery bombardments, or fast-moving air superiority. Visually, Panzer Corps 2 represents a significant leap forward from its predecessor. Powered by Unreal Engine 4, the game features crisp 3D models, dynamic lighting, and well-animated combat sequences that make the battlefield come alive without overwhelming players with visual clutter. The hex-based map is intuitive to read, with clear symbols and overlays that convey important information at a glance. While still primarily a game about systems and numbers, the graphical upgrade enhances immersion and modernizes the feel of the classic format. The game also shines in terms of content and replayability. The core campaign is expansive, with multiple branches and alternate outcomes based on player performance. There’s also a deep scenario editor and support for both competitive and cooperative multiplayer. Modding is fully embraced, with an active community creating new missions, units, and historical tweaks, keeping the experience fresh long after release. The inclusion of both historical campaigns and imaginative "what if" paths (like a successful German invasion of Britain or the conquest of the U.S.) adds a layer of speculative fun for those who enjoy rewriting history. However, Panzer Corps 2 does carry a learning curve. While the UI is clean and the tutorial sufficient for genre veterans, newcomers may initially find themselves overwhelmed by the number of mechanics, unit interactions, and long-term planning required. The AI, while competent, sometimes struggles with advanced tactics and can be predictable in certain scenarios, particularly in defensive positions. Additionally, while the core campaign is meaty, some players might wish for deeper narratives or more character-driven storytelling—though this is a deliberate design choice in favor of historical sandbox strategy. In terms of sound design, the game keeps things understated but effective. Battle effects, unit acknowledgments, and ambient music are all serviceable, adding atmosphere without distraction. The soundtrack leans into military themes, and while not overly memorable, it supports the tone of slow-burning strategic warfare. In conclusion, Panzer Corps 2 is a brilliant and polished entry in the grand strategy genre—an ideal blend of old-school design philosophy and modern presentation. It offers a deeply satisfying level of tactical control, an astonishing array of units and scenarios, and a gameplay loop that rewards both short-term tactical mastery and long-term strategic planning. For fans of historical wargames and turn-based tactics, it’s not just a sequel—it’s the definitive expression of what the genre can be when crafted with respect, precision, and vision. Rating: 8/10

The graphics of the game are perhaps my favorite part. I also like the "over run" aspect of the game play. The graphic interface, with the mouse/scroll, I find to be sort of chunky and frustrating at times, but all in all-I enjoy this version of the franchise.

I grew up playing Paner and Allied general with my dad. Had no idea this game was so heavily inspired by the originals. Tons of fun. REPLAYABLE. Lots of customization to make the game easier or harder, or a mix of both.

Playing from the spanish civil war to either the historical end in 1945 or the alternate end in 1946 is one of the best experiences I have had in gaming. Near infinite replayability, a strategy game that won't be for everyone but it is for me. My favorite strategy game ever

I only give this a positive review because it is the closest thing you can play to Panzer General (which, despite being several decades old, is still vastly superior) unless you decide to purchase an arcane PC from 20 years ago. If you're a fan of Panzer General and enjoy that style of gameplay, this one is not bad. Now for the negative parts: as people have said the AI isn't great. I think they have improved it to where it doesn't just kamikaze itself, but it has a tendency to just throw itself at your forces full bore. If you're looking to play as anyone other than the Germans for a campaign, I hope you're alright with buying DLC. There aren't as many scenarios per campaign as PG3 and the pacing is laughably fast, you literally learn one mechanic and then immediately they throw it out the window for the very next scenario as they launch you into a completely new front. As for the game's namesake: Panzers are laughably ineffective. Unless you're in a broad open field, they are effing USELESS. Infantry and even recon units are better than them in virtually every way even at the jobs which tanks were literally DESIGNED FOR such as breaking through enemy fortifications. For a game named "panzer corps", you're going to be lacking panzers pretty heavily if you want to actually succeed at any higher difficulties in the campaign.

A Great Example of Modern Strategy Done Right!! This is exactly what I expect from a modern strategy game. It delivers on all the core elements that matter: * Decent AI that puts up a real fight. * Tons of unique factions to choose from. * A wide variety of maps to keep things fresh. * Great unit diversity, allowing for different playstyles. * High replay value that keeps me coming back. Just solid turn based strategy gameplay. If you're into strategy games, this one's absolutely worth your time.

One of the best WW2 Strategy Games of it's type. Has huge amounts of content filled with many different unit types and gameplay options to diversify playthroughs. Downside is that the best content is in the DLC's but the main game is still good by itself

Okay, like was saying in a different review, I thoroughly enjoy playing table top strategy games along with the computer versions, Steel Panthers, etc. And well, Panzer Corps 2 fills the bill for that itch to play. In fact, 283 hours worth. It isn't one of the hard core ones with beyond belief logistics. I would simply highly recommend it. I think entry level folks would enjoy giving it a go as well. Don't let new stuff intimidate you. :)

Gameplay Mechanics: 9/10 Narrative: 5/10 Graphics: 7/10 Sound and Music: 7/10 Replayability: 8/10 Innovation: 7/10 Panzer Corps 2 is a top-tier entry in the turn-based WWII wargame genre. It takes the classic hex-based formula of the original and upgrades it with a modern engine, slicker visuals, and deeper tactical options—while keeping that addictive, puzzle-like mission flow intact. Gameplay mechanics are excellent. With over 1,000 unit types, deep customization, and a strong focus on combined arms and unit preservation, the game offers a huge tactical sandbox. The core loop of maneuvering units, managing supply lines, and achieving time-sensitive objectives is as satisfying as ever. Score: 9/10. Narrative is minimal. While there are multiple campaign paths (including alternate history), the story is really just a light backdrop to the strategic gameplay. Don’t come in expecting character arcs or dramatic storytelling—this one’s about pure tactics. Score: 5/10. Graphics are a solid step up from the first game. The 3D engine looks clean, and unit models are well-detailed for a wargame. It's not flashy, but it’s clear and visually satisfying for its genre. Score: 7/10. Sound and music do their job well. The soundtrack sets the tone, unit sounds are satisfying, and there’s a good sense of atmosphere during battles. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid all around. Score: 7/10. Replayability is strong. The game offers extensive campaign content, mod support, multiplayer, and even a random map generator. You can get dozens (or hundreds) of hours out of it if you enjoy the style. Score: 8/10. Innovation gets points for updating a classic formula without losing its core appeal. While it doesn’t revolutionize the genre, features like undo, flexible scenario design, and branching campaigns add great quality-of-life improvements. Score: 7/10. Bottom line: Panzer Corps 2 is everything a modern hex wargame should be—deep, rewarding, and endlessly replayable. If you're into WWII strategy and love planning the perfect assault, this is a must-play.
