Train Simulator: Frankfurt U-Bahn Route Add-On

This route is a great addition to my Train Sim collection. I have my settings set to max as it was prescribed in the manual anyway. I would recommend reading the manual to set up the train. The train set up is simple and setting up the IBIS can get some use to but if you do play OSMI 2 that you may recognize it. All the trains use a similar setting all across in the cabs. There are also announcements that it can be played while doing a route, most of them are in German of course while some can be in English. It even changes to do not board in U4 and U5 but not in the U3 due to the older board on those vehicles. Also, the rolling stock has buttons to play within the cab and the keys are mapped differently from any other train in the game. The acceleration and braking can get a lot of use to and especially while stopping at stations. The trains do sound real the real thing as I have heard on YouTube. I have never been to Frankfurt myself. There's a lot of ambient sounds but different from any DTG route. There are 24 standard scenarios listed in the description but I kind of wish they were in the career mode. DTG usually convert them to career but apparently, they didn't bother doing for this one due to this may get complicated due to the rolling stock features. All 24 scenarios feature just driving a line back and forth anyway. There is always quick drive routes on which you can drive any of the 9 lines that you want. This is also the second version of the route which is a plus, I thought for sure at first you can only drive the U5 units and you get less places to drive but that is not the case. I would say it is a great route and I wanted to get this at Just Trains but I always urge my priority to get DLC on Steam. If you're looking at a good tram route than try to get this. I would say for what it features that you get with this route is worth the full price.

This is a good add-on. It is a tad pricey but it is worth it. I like several things about this. Firstly, I am very partial to metros and trams. I like very much that the entire Frankfurt U-bahn is included along with all the trains. Even though there is no option for career advancement, it is still a lot of fun to have the interaction with street traffic. The trains have very good brakes, which is typical of metros and trams as they are regularly starting and stopping. And the instrument panel lighting and working IBIS system definitely make this a good addition.

Highly recommended. But before you purchase, you need to be sure of the following: 1. Is your graphics card up to scratch? These routes are highly graphics-intensive. 2. Are you prepared to drive a train, stopping every 20-30 seconds, or do you prefer to thrash Class 37s or race along in your ICEs and Voyagers? 3. Are you prepared to learn the IBIS system and the German light rail signalling systems? 4. Are you aware that there are no career scenarios with this? The choice is yours.

Very good route. I am quite surprised by the accuracy and the detail. It actually gave me an instant rush of nostalgia for the 6 years I've spent in Frankfurt. The rolling stock looks good and accurate as well. I cannot tell how accurate the driving behavior or the cabin is since I only know those trains as a passenger. As far as performance goes, I have a mid-range desktop machine that is 6-7 years old now, and the route plays good on highest settings. Occasionally there are frame rate drops, but not enough to take away from the experience. If I have to find a complaint, it's the sound. The sounds are completely off and this route could definitely benefit from an improvement in that department. Recommendation from me. Especially if its on sale.

I love this DLC, my favorite one. I love how realistic it is and it took me a while to figure out how to put the display for the routes. Very impressed with this DLC. I love the mixture of being a metro and a tram. I love the announcer detail, very realistic, and that's something that you don't get in train sim. I'm mostly impressed with the door controls. You can control when to open and close the doors or automatic. I'd say the price is worthy, very detailed in the trains, fair amount of routes, and realistic.

Awesome. Just awesome. Wish there were career scenarios, but this is a really great route. Hopeful that this will lead to other light rail in the Sim.

This is the only DLC for TS2019 that I would recommend buying. And that is because this route is unique from all other DLCs. If you have always wanted a subway route or a street car line then this is the DLC for you! Besides this DLC I only buy TSW routes. They are more engaging and honestly the performance is better.

It looks very accurate to the real U-Bahn Route but I'm getting 20 FPS in some areas. This is a total scam at full-price, I was lucky enough to get it on a sale yet I still feel ripped off because it's borderline unplayable. There's also no career mode which is something you'd expect at this price-point. Edit: I finally got it to run playably, it still lags but I just decreased the render distance, object density and object quality settings. I still wish it had a career mode but I like the mix of above-ground and underground driving.

I really enjoy this route. The aesthetics are really great and the audio, especially the tube audio is excellent. I still haven't figured out the onboard messaging system quite yet and there are a few bugs where people will be walking on the track at the stations. But overall, it's a very enjoyable drive if you enjoy metro commuter routes with lots of platform stopping. Unfortunately, however, there are no achieves or career mode scenarios with adequate tutorials and this is extremely a let down. I would really prefer if there was.

I couldn't tell you how excited I was to get this add-on on sale for 15 bucks. I didn't expect it to include the entirety of the frankfurt U-bahn or include so much rolling stock. smaller routes on train simulator are always a real treat

ENG/CZE: Overall this is one of the best DLC, I rate it 9/10. Details below: This DLC shows 9 U-Bahn lines in Frankfurt. It is a semi underground rail system that runs on the surface in places and has the character of a light suburban railway. It is not a subway system like the Soviet type of heavy metro, for example in Prague. It is a system where individual lines share the same track section and the same stations and split at appropriate points (the Soviet-type heavy metro has structurally separate and therefore unconnected lines) and is overall a light urban railway. The U-bahn in Franfukrt began construction in 1968 and underwent its last major upgrade in 2010. The DLC offers nine U-bahn lines, which are highly variable. Some go quite far out of town (lines U2 and U3) and you pass woods, fields and meadows on the way. Others stick to the city centre or its outskirts. Some lines run mostly underground (e.g. U7, U4), others have only one underground station on their route (U9), and some run along city streets in the path of tram lines. For this reason, you may encounter a double signalling system, with train signalling underground and tram signalling on the streets. The underground stations and the city streets are modelled very nicely and in detail on the surface. Here you can see cars and buses on the streets, road traffic lights and other traffic. At first I felt the need to stop at red lights before intersections before I understood that these signals were for car traffic, not my train. What I must particularly highlight are the excellent sounds especially in the underground tunnels. You can hear the hum and whistle of the wind much like in the real subway. In some stations you can meet red trains like BR 423 of the Frankfurt S-Bahn, which shares some stations and tunnels with the U-Bahn (but stops on different platforms due to the different voltage power supply) You can drive these S-Bahn lines in the next DLC from the same city. There is a trio of EMUs of the U3 type from the 80s, the U4 type from the 90s and the modern U5 type. In all cases, these are small and lightweight vehicles equivalent in weight to buses, and are powered by 600V DC overhead. Není to systém metra jako sovětský typ těžkého metra, například v Praze. Jde o systém, kde jednotlivé linky sdílejí stejný traťový úsek a stejné stanice a v příslušných místech se rozdělují (těžké metro sovětského typu má stavebně oddělené a tedy nepropojené linky) a jde celkově o lehkou městskou železnici. U-bahn ve Franfukrtu se začal stavět v roce 1968 a poslední velkou modernizaci prodělal v roce 2010. DLC nabízí devět linek U-bahnu, které jsou velmi variabilní. Z počátku jsem měl potřebu stavět před křižovatkami na červenou než jsem pochopil, že tyto signály se týkají automobilové dopravy, nikoliv mého vlaku. Co musím obzvláště vyzdvihnout jsou výborné zvuky zejména v podzemních tunelech. Slyšíte hučení a svist větru podobně jako v reálném metru. V některých stanicích můžete potkat červené vlaky typu BR 423 franfurktského S-Bahnu, který s U-Bahnem sdílí část stanic a tunelů (avšak staví na jiných nástupištích z důvodu odběru proudu o jiném napětí) Tyto linky S-Bahnu můžete řídit v dalším DLC ze stejného města. K dispozici je trojice EMU typu U3 z 80. let, typu U4 z 90. let a moderního typu U5. Ve všech případech se jedná o malé a lehké vozy vahou ekvivalentní autobusům, které jsou napájeny z troleje napětím 600 V DC. Městské linky nejsou pro každého, někdo raději těžké nákladní vlaky, ale tato je skutečně velmi povedená.

I'm normally not one for leaving reviews, but this DLC really is just an absolutely wonderful experience. Everything from the integrated IBIS system to the awesome sound and visual design is worth every cent. My only very mild criticism is the difference in performance between over- and underground. When entering underground stations, frames drop significantly with respect to elsewhere. (still very much playable though).

I love the Frankfurt U-Bahn addon! It's a fantastic mix of real underground, city surface train, in-street driving and countryside environments. You are in charge of setting destination signs and in car announcements, blinking when driving in the streets, two different types of door controls and much more. And you don't get punished with penalty points if you happen to speed once or twice ;) I highly recommend this... especially if you understand German.

rather good. too bad that it doesn't have any career scenarios. but it runs nice and the ibis computer is a nice touch. easy to drive trains too.. allthough i think i gave most of the passengers whiplash with my rally style driving.

I wound definitely recommend this. You must have TS installed to get this. For $56.90 AUD it is quite pricey and there isn’t really much a sale on this DLC maybe it will on Summer or Winter Sale. But the route. It is very detailed and beautiful and has all lines (U1-U9) a small section of the U5 is a tram section and this also has all the locos except it would be nice if we had U2 and U1 as well as PTB Tram locos as you can keep for history but for this DLC it is recommended.

It was best gift for chrismtas. :) Already tried all lines. All of them is favorite to me. Only tiny problem. In free ride you cannot get out of the depot because all sidings are dead end.

Big map, metro feeling. Easy controls, and realistic! Come on? What do you wait for?! Used some times to learn the controls, but easy when you can it!

I found out about this route slightly before it became available on Steam, and I'm so glad it's here now. Some people may argue that buying directly from the developer is the best thing to do, and I agree to some exent, since you support them more that way. But if you are short of money and live in a country with poor currency value, the best thing to do is buy at a store that conveniently adjusts the price to your market, like Steam. With that said, I think this is a great add-on. I just got started into TS like a month ago, and I can already tell the quality of this route in comparison to others. The trains have tons of controls and it's a bit overwhelming at first, but once you master the keys and their mappings (and the IBIS system which requires you to look at the manual for the code numbers) is a total joy. Brake and accelerator being on the same lever can take some time getting used to if you're used to them being separate controls. The manual comes in English and explains everything. The scenery is wonderfully detailed. There are some minor issues, but they don't outweight the pros (no pun intended) of this pro add-on. It's totally worth the full price, in my opinion.

Hands down probably my favorite route. With all 9 lines included you don't get bored easily, plus the functioning announcements make it even more immersive compared to others.

It's really good. You get the entire Frankfurt U-Bahn network with like 4 (!!) different trains, all with working IBIS, announcements, and signage, of course. You can click most buttons on the train. The route is filled with custom assets (cars, buses, buildings, and of course the stations and tunnels) and looks amazing with tram signalling and signage. It's super immersive. In particular the underground stations are done really, really well - they've managed to make the textures simulate various reflective or florescent surfaces to get around Train Sim's graphical limitations.

These trains will require you to read the manual, as many of the typical controls are mapped to different keys by default. Once you're past the learning curve for operating these trains, they're actually rather pleasant to drive. The map is also nicely varied and populated. Honestly, it's a real treat - a refreshing change from some of the rather unfinished routes Dovetail love to rush through the works. Seriously though, read the manual.

Amazing add-on to TS - worth every cent. Very good realism and detailed scenery. Already spend good few hours strolling around Frankfurt U-Bahn network. The characteristic of Frakfurt network, partially laid overground with tram line elements (Line U5) make it even more exciting to play. Looking forward for more networks to be released

For some reason, steam say's i have 0 hours in this... This review was made after 6 hours of playing. This is a nice DLC, however i do not recommend it. The price, 35 euro's, is way to much for a DLC in my opinion. The trains If you are a OMSI owner like me, you will like the trains in this DLC. Almost every button works, and the IBIS system is nearly a copy from some OMSI busses. It even has working non-automatic announcements. The map The map is very pretty but lacks performance. Huge FPS drop's everywhere on the map, making the map nearly unplayable sometimes. For me, this makes it far less fun to play. I don't recommend this map, because of the high price and bad performance. There are better maps available for much less.

this route is like the london underground and DLR network in the united kingdom and it is very good I recomend it

I am unable to get the train to move even after all the pre steps are done. The HUID is missing the accelerator and reverser. Which I know is not compatible? with TS in PC form. The keyboard commands all work except the reverser doesnt want to move. Maybe a d/l issue from STEAM. Dont know. Not happy.

can someone help me as I try to do some of the routes and none of the trains will move or work and don't understand why and would like some help please

Probably one of the best DLC for Train Simulator. Very detailed yet good FPS. A real joy to drive.

There are 9 routes, compared three routes with the Unreal Engine simulators. It means that I can fix problems and make my own scenarios. Each route has at least two scenarios each, there and back. Some have another tram to drive. The scenery is nice and detail good. Certainly worth the money. However, the scenarios are badly written. They have been created with the player tram only needing to stop at stations, rather than pick up passengers. Which means that loading/unloading passengers from the HUD would penalise the player, because the timer would have finished and the doors shut without the player realising. I have had to rewrite all scenarios, because I needed to change 'Stop at' to 'Pick up passengers' at every station and insert a message telling me how to turn the tram on and set it up for the journey. This meant changing the start time by -2 mins and copy and pasting IBIS instructions. Nearly every scenario fails! This is a simple error and needs addressing. It is usually the first 'stop at', because the tram is already there. It's a fail every time.. just delete it. I've not yet tried extending the routes in World Editor, this is something I would like to try for fun. Personally, I would like to see an update to correct the scenarios. It's still a good route and fun to play once you learn how to set the tram up.

Despite the warnings about FPS this route runs more smoothly than other routes despite looking incredible. Trams are nimble and fun to drive. I would have appreciated a little but more documentation on the signals, as the underground sections use train signals. You have to start the tram from cold and dark, fun and not difficult after reading the manual.

ENG: This is easily one of, if not the best DLC I've played in this game and probably one of the few that is actually worth the money. You basically get the entire Frankfurt U-Bahn with 24 standard scenarios and 2 free roam scenarios as well as 4 different EMU's. This DLC is part of the TS Pro range so everything is more detailed and the EMU's have more interactive features and systems including a more detailed start up procedure and functioning IBIS (Something more routes in this game ought to have). I have been to Frankfurt before on numerous occasions and this DLC does capture the "feel" of the U-Bahn well. The audio is on point and the station announcements sound authentic. If you are that interested in the Frankfurt U-Bahn then I'd say it is worth the full price. Generally though I'd recommend waiting for a sale as with most TSC DLC. DE: Dies ist mit Sicherheit einer der, wenn nicht sogar der beste DLC, den ich in diesem Spiel gespielt habe, und wahrscheinlich einer der wenigen, der sein Geld tatsächlich wert ist. Absolutely fantastic! Once of the most unique and high quality packages available for TS. The included U-Bahn trains are very high quality and the U-Bahn network itself is modelled so well. Highly recommended.

This is an amazing add-on. If you are looking for something a little bit different you should try it. It's something between underground, suburban train and a tram, as some parts go on common road with the traffic and require use of turn signals, although most of the track is separated. The whole network is available with 9 different lines (although they use common tracks at some parts). The scenery is beatiful. Routes are easy to learn and hudless driving is possible. There are scenarios for all the routes in both directions, QD for all routes and also free roam which I find very useful here (I never use it on other routes) - as we can simulate realistic activities like driving out and into the yard (there are two available) and switching lines on the terminus. There is an IBIS with spoken annoucements. Generally I love this add-on. One thing that is a bit annoying to me is the fact that there are no real working taffic lights for the train. They are always green (or rather vertical) even though cars going the same way have red. This may be the simulation limitation, because all the signals work like for a train (so they show red or horizontal only when the track is occupied or the switches are set wrong) and aren't connected with singnals for the road traffic. There are also some road-crossing signals which show red (or horizontal) when far away but they autmatically switch to green (vertical) when we arrive at the crossing (which is probably as it should be). There are 3 types of rolling stock to chose from which differ both inside the cab and with performance. Sounds are great. This is one of very few routes where I find the sounds quite realistic and immersive. What I miss a little would be a printable timetable (perhaps I got used to OMSI type driving too much).
