Call of the Wild: The Angler™

I have a lot of time in other fishing games. I love COTW theHunter.. but I can't bring myself to play this more. This is undoubtedly the worst fishing game I've ever played. It is so bland and confusing and unfun. It's the kind of game that is so simple it's confusing. They try to mix in elements of exploration but I don't wanna run around.. I just wanna fish. It's tedious, it's unfun. To make matter worse, the developers have come out and stated that they're no longer working on the game. They have ceased development. Despite the bugs, despite the issues, they have just given up.. I have never made a negative review where I outright say this but, I do not and would not ever recommend this game to anyone. There are better fishing games, there are better exploration games. There is no area this game excels at and there is nothing it does that I found remotely fun lol. I see absolutely no reason to play this. I guess the devs realized this is a lost cause. Honestly, I don't blame them. Not a good game.

I’ll never support any more of your games after the decision to abandon this game. This had the chance to revive the standalone fishing game genre and instead of putting effort into crafting a good title they pushed half baked DLC I hope another studio pick this title up and runs with it; there is a ton of good faith to be earned here for an eager team

I've refunded this game... Twice. It's honestly of embarassingly poor quality overall. Sure, the engine and visuals could look a lot worse, but stuff just doesn't work and is so god damn subpar that you're way better off spending the money elsewhere. Even after buying it again, years after release, it hadn't improved anywhere near enough to be a bottom of the barrel fishing game. By far one of the worst fishing games even I've tried.

The game had major bugs, took a break from it, hoping for improvements. Came back to a much better game and fell in love with it, only to see that is has been abandoned by the developers and will receive no future updates. Pretty sad but still playable, and enjoyable. Hope to see a future developer either pick it back up or sell it to another that will give it the attention it deserves.

Took me a while to get hooked but once I did I was for sure hooked. Hahaha, get it. I got hooked. Anyway this game had me disappointed and discouraged at first whenever I had a hard time leveling up but I figured out if you do lots of the missions it helps you to level up and unlock cool and more useful tackle. Which unlocking this tackle makes the game more fun because you can catch more fish at a faster rate. Another thing about this game that is great is that it is a perfect mix between realism and arcade. You get the best of both worlds, with constant action but also realistic maps and fish. Overall a very great game for people who enjoy fishing games.

The game is not worth it the updates have already done no more updates. They ended support 4 months ago. I recommend do not buy this game anymore.

Had potential, got it as soon as it released enjoyed the little time i played it even with the performance issues and such i was like "i'll wait until it gets better" i even bought all the DLCs just to support the project in the long run, i'm really sad how this aged. It's a shame now is an abandoned project, it mixed so well exploration and fishing, coming from the hunter COTW i loved the little shared design it had, like landmarks, the story of the places we were visiting and such, Yet is not an excuse to end up killing the project this way, people submitted a lot of reports and feedback only to not be heard. I'm really hoping someone in EW retakes this project by sheer love into the fanbase and keep updating it, this game could be so much and i don't know how EW decisions ended up being like this, instead of staining the company giving up in a game that couldn't reach some nice player count, why not fixing it so you can bring the attention again? I'll still recommend it, even if development ended

I really enjoyed the game when it was actively getting updates. I thought it was the perfect mix of casual and grind. The exploration stuff took maybe an hour max for all the maps I had unlocked. The rest of the time I caught fish that were part of that weeks Official Discord FOTW to try and get the biggest one. Really upset they abandoned this, as this was my favorite fishing game to play.

I played 7 hours in a single day, so I guess its fun for me. So many things to collect and explore.

This trash developer is no longer supporting this product, after only 2 YEARS!! Don't buy this game, don't buy Expansive Worlds or Avalanche Studios content. They have done this shit on MULTIPLE RELEASED PRODUCTS! If you want a better fishing experience, go play Russian Fishing 4.

A chill fishing exploration game - a lot of fun if you need to relax.

Shallower than a kiddie pool, bug riddled and abandoned by the devs. Avalanche/Expansive did us dirty.

(NOTE BEFORE BUYING THE GAME HAS ENDED SUPPORT) If you like Hunter: Call of the Wild I'm sure you'll love this game especially if you like the hobby of fishing. The maps are beautiful, the music is beyond relaxing. The actual mechanics of the game itself is fun to me I like the fishing mini game and having to pay attention to your drag and what not its pretty cool. Also worth to mention crossplay I really wish Hunter had crossplay i'd probably play that a lot more to be honest due to all my friends who like the call of the wild games are on xbox. But this game does feature crossplay which is a blast, the multiplayer is a blast, I do wish the syncing was a little better sometimes you can't see the fish your friend is holding so they just have their arms out with a weird creepy grin like their asking you for a weird hug lol. But yeah the game is fun, I checked out the first two maps Golden Ridge and Noraway but I'm still trying to work on getting better gear to land some big monsters.. The game is fun to grind and relaxing. I highly reccomend. I picked it up with all the dlc on the sale and definitely scored big time.

Don't understand the hate, this is probably the most grounded and interesting fishing sim out there right now, most of the others pretty much all play the same. Good to okay to bad. This one excels at pretty much everything from ambiance to simulation to the fish themselves, I just wish it had aquariums like Ultimate Fishing Simulator. walking and driving around the nature preserves/national parks in the game is actually really cool and adds a touch of added realism to the whole package. The Call of the Wilds games are hidden gems whether you like hunting or fishing.

This game is probably the most realistic fishing game I have ever played, I have played this for a few months on multiple different platforms and devices and this is one of my top favorite games, 100% recommend. The quality is amazing and it even has missions made by the warden for you to do. There are many cool maps you can buy such as a Japan map. It even challenges you with multiple legendary on each map fish that rotate every week. 100/10 game.

All life on earth that has been deleted is in the metaphysical recycling bin!!! It's not gone, just transfered to a different file :) Because memory is the only proof that you were here, and I mean here as in this plane of existence, buddy, there is no proof that there was anything before you started remembering, or in the dark gaps that you don't remember :) Perhaps you can't recall these memories because they were never really there. Perhaps the universe only begun when your mind started making those little electrical sequences, sequences too similar to a machine's. The universe of a television show does not extend further than where it begins and where it ends. Timeskips, memory gaps, what's the difference? What you've recorded down is merely a flashback. A replay of events with the same actors and the same props, but ultimately not actually in the past. It is part of the cannon, linear universe just like everything else. People complain about broken bottles in the sand. They forget that that is where the discarded glass came from. What was stolen from the beach has simply been returned. They took something natural and burned and twisted it for the sake of beauty. When they were bored they tossed it out and called it trash. It's painful, dangerous, and no longer of any use to them. But it's still beautiful. And it's right where it belongs. :)
