+ Faithful to source material: The game feels like experiencing a South Park movie. The writing feels on par, as do the animation and voice acting. You pretty much get what you see up front, in the trailers. + Itemization: You are incentivized to try out new weapons with different effects and play styles solely due to their flat damage increase. The fact that there is no stats-oriented upgrade system (e.g., adding +5 modifier to an item) pushes you into experimenting with different builds without feeling overbearing. One of the best implementations of this system I've seen in any game. - Bugs: It's unacceptable to have screen flickers during certain cutscenes and issues that can soft lock you from progressing (for up to ~10m depending on luck). - Cameos:[b/] Most of the South Park extended cast makes an appearance, but some characters such as Chef feel forced, and more of an afterthought. Generally this is not an issue but when it stands out even a bit, it's very grating.

South Park: The Stick of Truth—A Perfect Love Letter to Fans South Park: The Stick of Truth isn’t just a good game—it’s a masterpiece of fan service, comedy, and RPG charm. It stands as one of the rare licensed games that does everything right and then some. From the moment you step into the shoes of the "New Kid," you aren't just playing a game; you're living inside a South Park episode. The visual style is flawless—it looks exactly like the show, no compromises. Every character interaction, background detail, and side joke screams authenticity. The writing? Absolutely on point. Trey Parker and Matt Stone crafted a story packed with sharp satire, ridiculous scenarios, and outrageous moments that only South Park could deliver. Whether you're battling underpants gnomes under your parents' bed or infiltrating an alien spaceship with an anal probe, the game never stops surprising you. Gameplay is just pure fun. The turn-based combat hits the sweet spot between simplicity and engagement, especially with timed attacks and the crazy status effects that mirror the show's humor. The buddy system and summons (I mean… Jesus with a machine gun??) add layers of ridiculous joy to every fight. Exploring South Park’s open world feels like stepping into your favorite episodes. Every house you enter is packed with references, collectibles, and inside jokes. And for achievement hunters like you—going for 100% isn’t a chore; it’s a blast. The hunt for Chinpokomon, friend requests, and hidden side quests is addictive because every little thing is infused with charm and comedy. It’s no wonder it became my third 100% achievement game on Steam. Earning every achievement feels genuinely rewarding because you get to soak up every hilarious, absurd corner of this world.

It would be dishonest of me to say that I can’t recommend this game, especially to South Park fans, because this was and is a really good South Park game. However, that recommendation comes with some heavy caveats. First, the positives. The game looks and feels like South Park in every way imaginable. It’s written by Matt and Trey, has the same animation and voices. There’s good use of reference humor, shock humor, and character-based humor, while playing down what I think are the weaker parts of Matt and Trey’s repertoire. There are self-references aplenty, from visual easter eggs to the soundtrack. Whatever jokes have aged awkwardly are mostly buried by the pure volume of edginess, while humor that’s merely dated gives the game a nice “time capsule” feel that doesn’t feel stale. I can’t imagine a South Park fan being unhappy with this. I even enjoyed myself from a gameplay perspective. The town is small enough that the sidequests and collectables shouldn’t be too much of a hassle, while offering more of the same writing that buoys the main storyline. It’s especially fun to fill your Facebook feed and read the character’s posts as you friend them. The battles are straightforward but not simple to the point of dullness. The equipment you have to choose from offer decent opportunities for synergy. Avoiding enemy counters will keep you on your toes as you chip away armor, and stack debuffs to smooth your path to victory. However, I don’t think you should play this game if you don’t like South Park’s humor or characters. The RPG system is functional enough, but the difficulty is very out of wack. Regular encounters didn’t offer any challenge in the late game. Your fart meter doesn’t restore on its own, but I didn’t even need to use it until the final battle. There aren’t a lot of ways to mitigate the damage your party takes, but it’s never enough to overwhelm you with all of the healing items you pick up. Of the last three bosses, I struggled on the first, but blew past the second and didn’t have too much trouble on the final boss. Also, is it bugged? The wiki says I’m supposed to use four partners before I can win, but I only used two. For some reason, the third-to-last boss is immune to most debuffs, but not the last two? It doesn’t seem like there was a lot of thought put into the balance. The first optional boss in the Al Gore questline was a lot of trouble, but I beat the second boss on my first try. Is this from improving my build, or did the designers not account for what makes a fight difficult? Bosses with multiple enemies on screen increase the pressure, but I was able to blow through armor with the first spell I learned after upgrading it. The overworld and questing also have some familiar defects. There’s missable content, which is more forgivable for a shorter game, but still irritating, especially when there isn’t a lot of replay value. Then there are a bunch of redundant overworld abilities you need to get past optional and mandatory obstacles. The buddy assists are easily the worst; I don’t think I was even told how to use Stan’s overworld ability. It’s all so painfully context specific, and that’s just not fun level design. As a South Park application, this is fantastic, with a fun little town to explore and plenty of characters to meet. As a game, it has plenty of holes. Don’t come seeking the latter if you wouldn’t get any enjoyment out of the former.

It's funny and has its own essence that gives you a lot of comfort, somehow... I would 100% recommend to finish all the quest before the end of the main story, or else it gets boring.

A long time ago, I saw this game on YouTube, but for some reason, I never finished watching it. Now, after a lot of time has passed, I finally played it myself - and I loved it! I think it's time for Canada to get an 3D update!

I bought this game for the nostalgia, and on that front it delivered. I've been a fan of South Park since '98 (up until around 2015, when the direction of the show changed too much for me). There were lots and lots of reminders of different episodes in this game. The game itself has a fun story. The actual gameplay isn't the best. The fighting mechanics are simplistic, though some attacks require a lot of controller actions, and a few spots in the game require a precise type of controller movement which isn't really clarified and caused a fail repeatedly. Max level is 15 and I reached that half way through the main story. There's some replayablity, with four classes to choose from. There's a few choices to make but not sure if they affect the outcome. There's different outfits you can collect, Chinpokomon to find all around. There's Canada. I completed a playthrough in 13 hours, and will probably play one more time for achievements. But I got this game as a fan of third-grade South Park, and as a fan, I am satisfied. If you're a fan of the show, stop screwin' around and get this game, but be like Kyle and get it on sale.
South Park™: The Stick of Truth™ – ridiculous brilliance in a fantasy-flavoured burrito
I launched it expecting a couple of cheap laughs and maybe a fart joke or two. What I got was a full-blown fantasy saga where I became the Dragonborn of flatulence, the King of Cringe, and the chosen one armed with a stick, a cape, and deeply concerning bowel powers. Somewhere between fighting Nazi zombies and dodging a swinging pair of testicles, I realized this isn’t a game, it’s a chaotic masterpiece in a wizard’s robe.

What I loved
This game is like high school Dungeons and Dragons meets the grossest Saturday morning cartoon, with toilet humour jacked up to legendary levels. Combat is more tactical than you'd expect with grid-based movement that actually forces you to think. I came for toilet jokes and stayed for the strategy. Every area is dripping with ridiculous personality. The police station is unhinged. The alien ship is a fever dream. The strip club is unforgettable in the worst way. And then there’s the detail. The map is packed with tiny, obscene surprises from collectible Chinpokomon to absurd side characters. The voice acting is full South Park quality and the writing is so sharp it could pierce a taco shell. Mixing classes like fart-mage and Jewish paladin was not only allowed but encouraged and that alone made me feel like I was part of something historically stupid and brilliant.

What could be better
A few of the side quests feel like padding. Fetch this, go here, poke that. The crafting system is barely a system and more like a polite suggestion. Sometimes jokes are repeated just a little too much and lose their punch, especially if you linger in one area too long. Also, once I found my favourite combat combo, things got a bit too easy toward the end. But honestly, even during the slower parts, the sheer commitment to absurdity and unexpected twists kept dragging me back into its fart-scented clutches.

How it plays
It plays like a love letter to classic RPGs with just enough poop jokes to keep you humble. The turn-based combat has grid placement, timing-based blocks, power-ups, and enemy-specific tricks. Boss fights are clever, sometimes chaotic, and always ridiculous. From alien probes to underpants gnomes, every battle has a flavor you’ll either love or be slightly disturbed by. Exploration between battles is full of rewards, like breaking into houses, looting drawers, and triggering cutscenes that belong nowhere except here. Every town building hides either a joke, a secret, or a deeply questionable side quest and I loved digging into every corner.

The main character’s powers
New Kid is an unstoppable, speechless ball of rage, farts, and questionable gear choices. You start by picking a class like Fighter, Mage, Thief, or the infamous Jew, and every one of them is broken in its own special way. Want to summon Mr. Slave to devour your enemies whole? You can. Want to attack with burning farts and toxic burps while hiding behind a flaming hammer? Go for it. Want to teleport through walls with alien probes and then shrink to fight rats under the floorboards? All possible. This is less a progression system and more a controlled explosion of imagination, and the more ridiculous you make your build, the better the game rewards you.

Performance on PC
Smooth as buttered bacon on a hot sidewalk. It runs clean, quick, and without any issues from start to finish. No crashes, no stutters, and no bugs that I came across. Load times were snappy, battles were slick, and all the effects looked crisp without needing to mess with settings. The visual style is perfect for what it is, like watching an interactive episode of South Park that somehow goes on for 12 hours without wearing out its welcome.

My final thoughts
This is the golden standard for comedy RPGs. It’s filthy, fun, functional, and freakishly well-made. The combat is satisfying, the exploration is hilarious, and the writing manages to be both juvenile and razor-sharp. It’s a turn-based epic about friendship, destiny, and farting your way to greatness. On PC it’s perfect, on Steam Deck it holds its own, and in my heart it now lives rent-free as the best use of a stick in video game history. Final Score: 10/10

The Stick of Truth is really good South Park game, It feels like you're inside of an episode from the show. The music and visuals are also really high quality. No bugs and runs smooth. Story is engaging and fun even in 2025. Achievements are also fun to get. I completed the game around 4 times with the 4 different classes and can say each class is fun in the game. This is worth it for the amount of entertainment and highly recommend.

The games' main and side objectives are for the most part very engaging and easy enough to do to scratch a completionist itch. The voice acting, soundtrack, visual design, and charm are very consistent with that of the show, and anybody who likes the general feel of the show would be happy. The battles were engaging, and even the toughest bosses could be taken out with just a few resets. Critiques would be the selling system being very tedious, especially considering the large chunks of game play where you're collecting random junk you'll eventually have to sell one by one. I also wish that character customization in terms of costumes/arsenal was more viable. With latter game pieces being so busted in comparison to early game stuff, it feels like you're stuck wearing/equipping whatever new thing you get instead of being encouraged to stick with your own preference for style. huge props for letting clothing pieces be color coded, though. My last issue would be the amount of clunk with the different abilities. Swapping around your four abilities plus the magic system, for me at least, hindered the overall flow of the game. When you get to the later parts of the game, and a room may require you to switch to a certain spell, release the spell, switch to the ranged weapon to interact with the environment in some way, shrink down to go to some place so you can use the alien device, and then have a buddy interaction (which may require you to swap through multiple buddies to see which one fits the prompt unless it's obvious), it gets more annoying than engaging.

It feels like a South Park episode! It is extremely over the top and all around quite wacky. You can tell it draws a lot from d&d with its themes and combat systems and I found the entire experience engaging from start to finish. I would definitely recommend it if for no other reason than just how damn silly the entire story is.

The comedy of an episode of South Park meets the gameplay of Paper Mario in this comedic JRPG. You can tell that Trey Parker and Matt Stone put the same care into this game that they put into any episode of South Park.

This game is one big series of South Park episodes in one joint. Took me awhile to beat. I hadn't played the game in 3 years, I come back and beat it within a few days. The mechanics, spells and attacks are very easily to take advantage of in this game and you could easily be overpowered. Straight forward turn-based role-played inspired by JRPGs, DND, Lord of the Rings with the twisted sick flair of Stone and Parker's dark humor interlaced.

I really liked this game more then I thought I would. This game has the charm and humor of the series while also being a fun turn-based rpg. I would recommend especially recommend to those who are a fan of South Park, but even to those who think this looks interesting even if you don't know much about the show. Fun game.

7.5 / 10 It's a great turn-based game. I having so much fun but the level cap just till level 15 which kinda short and I already reached max level cap in the Mid game. The game is easy even though i already set the game difficulty to hardcore because i able to one shot mob enemy and bosses in few hits. Selling the junks item in the game kinda hassle because you cannot select all junks at once. Only can sell item one stack per click and these junks you get it so often.

Great game overall. By default if you're got the dogsh*t version like the Australian or European ones, you'll need to download a bypass for the inbuilt censorship that strips out several scenes and minigames (but it's a super simple process) Managed to pick up all the achievements and smash through the game 100% in about 20 hours on the Steamdeck

I had a ton of fun playing this game & playing along the kids of South Park. Kyle ended up being the best partner to have for most of the game! 92/100 It's basic, simple but this game is one of the best RPGs I've played in a long time. It's rare Ubisoft is involved in anything good. Turn based combat done right. It's not overly complicated and I'm all for that. Game felt like I was watching half a season of the show.

They're building a new Taco Bell ! South Park always finds inspired new stories to portray their characters, and this game will have you smiling and laughing. Mixed in with the gross parts, the game has great sequences in children's forts and in the school as the kids have a fun adventure to possess the Stick of Truth. Shockingly the creators did not hold back and the game is as raunchy as the show as you see nudity and sex and anal probes, and it has levels in an abortion clinic and inside a gay man's anus. The combat is a turn-based rpg where you can switch out a second character teammate, and it emphasizes button timing to maximize hits, and time blocks. The button timing ends up being alright if you stick to some key attacks, although some of the special moves i never understood the button timing of the various characters. The fights are entertaining and surprising, since some enemies fight you with normal attacks while others have weird gross out attacks or suicide bomber attacks. The overworld has some creative ways to interact with environmental objects to knock out some enemies before entering a turn based battle. A few downsides of the game are; the fart tutorials are such a confusing struggle that I almost got stuck in the game; and there was not very much to explore in the South Park town once you have been through it. Although the game graphics look great and exactly like the cartoon, the background buildings and signs are really blurry as they scroll past in contrast to the clear foreground. It is not a big deal, but it made me feel a bit dizzy and it would be better if the graphics allowed for a clearer FPS. The game lets you set refresh rate to 60, 120, 144, but none improve the moving blur and it seems like the game may be locked at 30fps. I am super happy to have gotten two games (Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole) for less then $15, which makes the games more like experiencing a South Park movie with top entertainment value even during the fights. This game was charming yet gross, and had enjoyable enough game play to make it a great South Park experience.
