Really disappointing, everything that's here is great, the art, the characters, the game play but there's so little. its the exact same three levels with the exact same enemies, with the exact same bosses every time. While that might have worked for something like slay the spire, here it does not. My group got about 1 solo session and 3 multiplayer sessions in which is where we usually start to feel like were getting the hang of the game and can start getting into the more detailed intricate partrs but here we were met with a universal "that's it" feeling. Definitely regret buying it.

I feel like this game has so much potential. I really enjoy the systems and combat. The animations are nice. However, I'm really missing an "untimed" game mode. I'm also really looking for more replay value through more permanent upgrades/buffs. It feels like after so much there are no permanent buffs that warrant doing more and more runs. I wish that there were more magical objects as well. It just feels like the time spent does not equal how strong the player gets. I like the systems, but the frequency of obtaining things is so low. Overall, I really enjoy this game and still recommend this game if you atleast like and enjoy rogue-like games.

While I initially found it fun, but challenging, it soon became apparent that the challenge isn't so much attributed to leveling up and aquiring new abilities, or a steep learning curve; it mostly comes down to RNGesus deciding if you have any chance of success. If you don't get lucky and get high dmg items, then you're completely fucked in act 3. Everything in act 3 has either ubber def, ubber HP, or both; thus making act 3 a slog, and ruins everything else the game has going for it. Having to rely on very rare items to help push your dmg up over 100 trivialises every other stat and is imo poor game design. Do not buy unless you are a hardcore fan of this genre, and even then I'd still suggest purchasing a different game, as this one looses its lustre really, really fast.

A strangely semi-casual game where it's comfortable to play on a whim but has a steep barrier to entry as you figure out what works, what doesn't, and how to handle each enemy and POI efficiently, since the clock and level scaling is always knocking on your door... Once you do master it, however, the time pressure isn't that difficult to beat even on the highest difficulty setting. Patches have generally improved the game over the time I've played it, too. There's lots of meta progression that makes it slow to pick up and play since you won't have full access to a character's talent selection, though every character eventually has their own fun sandbox to explore. Much better with a friend or three that you can play with consistently because of how dramatically the game changes when everyone plays effectively and cooperatively. Matchmaking is comparatively poor since you can't forecast how much latency you'll have, voice chat's the only chat you get, and you can't queue for a specific character you want to play (whoever locks in first gets to play that character and nobody else). There are some characters that completely change how you - and your team! - approach fights when you play them well. My personal favorite is Sun Wukong who boasts an incredibly high skill ceiling when you don't build exclusively around his Power attack, rewarding consummate mastery of enemy behavior in a variety of delightful ways.

If you loved Hades, you'll love this game. I love the art and how unique each Hero's combat style is. It's more fun to play with friends but doing it solo isn't too bad either. It's also quite challenging and the different upgrades make you play a new way each time. I do wish there were more maps though. After a while, you get used to the layout and it gets repetitive.

Can be very motivating once you get into it. Characters and skill sets are very diverse and create new challenges. I wished though there was more diversity in levels and in particular an option for longer runs. Also, some events are badly balanced. Thus, I'd very much like a sequel or extensive addon.

Ravenswatch is a compelling action RPG that blends fast-paced combat with a richly detailed fantasy world, offering players an engaging experience steeped in dark lore and intense battles. Developed by Dark Crystal Games, this title stands out for its dynamic combat system, which demands precision, timing, and strategic use of abilities, making each encounter feel rewarding and challenging. The game’s combat mechanics are fluid and responsive, allowing players to seamlessly chain attacks, dodge enemy strikes, and unleash powerful skills that keep gameplay thrilling throughout. The variety of weapons and skill trees available caters to different playstyles, whether you prefer aggressive melee combat, ranged assaults, or tactical magic use, giving players the freedom to customize their character and approach encounters in unique ways. Narratively, Ravenswatch weaves a dark and atmospheric tale set in a world plagued by corruption and ancient evils. The story unfolds gradually through immersive dialogue, environmental storytelling, and mysterious quests that encourage exploration and discovery. The game’s world design is intricate, featuring sprawling landscapes filled with secrets, formidable foes, and lore-rich locations that invite players to delve deeper into the game’s mythology. The atmosphere is enhanced by hauntingly beautiful visuals and a moody soundtrack that perfectly complements the grim tone of the narrative, drawing players into the somber and perilous realm they must navigate. Character progression in Ravenswatch is robust, with a well-crafted leveling system that rewards exploration and combat mastery. Players earn experience and loot by defeating enemies and completing quests, which can then be used to enhance abilities, unlock new skills, and acquire gear upgrades. The loot system is varied and encourages players to experiment with different equipment sets to optimize their build, fostering a satisfying loop of exploration, combat, and progression. Additionally, the game features challenging boss fights that test players’ mastery of mechanics and adaptability, often requiring careful preparation and strategic thinking to overcome. While Ravenswatch excels in many areas, it does face some hurdles. The learning curve can be steep, especially for newcomers unfamiliar with the nuances of action RPG combat. Some sections may feel punishing due to enemy difficulty spikes or limited checkpoints, which could frustrate less patient players. However, these challenges also add to the game’s sense of accomplishment when overcome. Occasionally, minor technical issues such as frame drops or camera glitches can momentarily disrupt immersion, but these do not detract significantly from the overall experience. In conclusion, Ravenswatch is a meticulously crafted action RPG that offers a dark, immersive world combined with intense, skill-based combat and meaningful character progression. Its atmospheric storytelling, deep gameplay systems, and challenging encounters provide a rewarding experience for fans of the genre who appreciate both narrative depth and demanding gameplay. For players seeking a game that marries dark fantasy with tactical combat and exploration, Ravenswatch delivers a memorable journey filled with danger, mystery, and the thrill of mastery. This is just extremely fun co-op. Steam says I have almost 80 hours in this game already and today was probably the most fun I've had in it because me and my husband tried out the Romeo + Juliet duo for the first time. 10/10. Great gameplay, synergies, and art. The levels and voicelines are repetitive, but that doesn't really matter. The dynamic gameplay keeps it fun.

A single brief connection issue and your friend can't rejoin, and the only option is to start over or you're playing the rest of the run alone. Don't buy until it's fixed.

visually it looks good. but the dodging is atrocious. it's like playing dark souls without i-frames when dodging. what's the point of a dash if you still have to do it way in advance. AND the damage indicators for enemy attacks are super misleading where you can be just out side of the lines, but it still hits you.

This game might be what you're looking for, seriously. At least play for an hour or two. It pulled me and my friend so bad, if it comes to roguelikes, we're playing Ravenswatch. As a solo game? Worth giving a try. You can select certain debuffs to make the game harder for yourself if you're into soulslike games and like being absoulutely fucked if you get hit once or twice. Strongly recommend

i am absolutely enjoying this game, the creativity of making every hero have totally different gameplay is awsome. but i dont know how long my enjoy will continue because it is only three stages and i think this will make the game a little repetitious after a while. i really hope that developers has really good upcoming content for it

The recent update suck out all the fun !!!! The loot system is so unfair, fighting your ass out at Red chest only for Common Item???? The Dev should have made the game harder by adding more challenge instead of fuck up players >..< Frustrated! Dont feel fun anymore but tortured :(((((

One of my favorite co-op roguelikes. Satisfying combat and power progression, challenging, good variety and creativity in character skillsets, good variety in buffs and similar. After a while you do start wanting for more maps and bosses, but I still got 100 hours out of it before it started feeling stale. Will play more if big update.

My party died before the second boss fight, I was under leveled. Proceeded to 1v1 the boss, beat him after a 20 minute boss fight, die the instant we get to day 3 location. 10/10 game, gameplay, characters, enemies, everything.

I'm really early in on this, so the likelihood I'll come back to edit this review is high. Do you like Diablo? Do you like roguelikes? This is essentially the combination of the two with a dark fairytale flair. I will say this game does seem balanced with co-op in mind and will not hold your hand from the onset if you're playing solo, but the level of challenge is welcome thus far. My main complaint, given the creators are responsible for the excellent (in my opinion) Curse of the Dead Gods is that there's not really a tutorial stage that the game puts you through (at least, none that I've found). While I don't think it necessary for the basic combat abilities for those used to games like this, it would be NICE for some of the more in-depth mechanics to be introduced in some organic fashion. As it stands, there's essentially an in-game manual to tell you what everything does, and it is a bit of a read. Learning more about the characters with each playthrough via the voice-acted journals (or, in the case of one character, sung verses) is also a treat. I think I'm going to like my time here. I'll update once I've gotten further along.

This is a rockstar multiplayer roguelike, and it also plays well solo. Highlights: - Aesthetic masterpiece. Clearly not just a game but also a work of art. Weird people like me almost value this more than fun mechanics. - Good build options. Choices are neither too many nor too few and randomness is well managed. Most options are also worth trying with no obvious duds. Characters are distinct. - When playing together, coordination and synergy are greatly rewarded. You can accomplish more as a team than you can by yourself.

I'm usually not a big fan of MOBA-based gameplay but this one is fun, especially in co-op. Each character plays very differently (there are even two, Romeo and Juliet who worked only in co-op with shared skills). Not a lot to unlock and in co-op the game has no pause which can be very annoying but unlocking each difficulty, which gives access to a little more content is nice. The theme of the game is really nice and it looks nice and clean (the action is usually readable), unlocking each character story is a nice touch.

Really satisfying game - all the characters are unique and extremely fun to play. Could use some more boss variety, but the game is a 10/10. Skill expression is very high, combat never feels unfair (you die when you mess up, no cheap deaths), art, music, ambiance all amazing. The character design is really cool (dark versions of fairytale protagonists) and the timer aspect of each level gives urgency without feeling oppressive. Tons of replayability bc of talent variety, item builds, and the number of characters.

The snappy controls, darkly whimsical art style, challenging combat, and simple yet engaging build combinations come together for a solid rougelike experience. The gameplay really shines in cooperative play, where character abilities provide engaging mutual benefits between players. Also, you can never have too many rats.

A very nice rogue-like with a fairy tale theme. I think the game does more than just stand out against others in the genre. There are plenty of characters and each has their own unique abilities and play styles. As you progress and play more these characters unlock new potential abilities that help them to diversify even more. The difficulty system is well balanced and getting to the very end is extremely rewarding. This stays true for both solo and co-op play. The weakest part of the game is probably just the map generation. It does keep set pieces at a good consistency throughout the map, but the pool of camps and side goals is a bit low, especially when it comes to the 3rd area. However, this can help with some routing as you learn what camps are and aren't worth taking the time to clear. That said I can't help but wish there was a little more variance in map design.

Absolutely love the game. Great time just jumping in and seeing what goofy builds i get. The characters are fun, each playing unique from each other. The story and lore is great, and the character dialog between each other is entertaining. Would absolutely recommend the game to anyone. Few things I would like to see in the future: - Map Variety. I agree with comments that the maps can feel a little repetitive with multiple runs. I think making the maps procedural generated would truly make each run feel unique. Alternatively, making a set of 5 or so map variants for each chapter would help alleviate this feeling, or even making more regions, so a run may not have the same regions. - Expanded Ending. The current ending feels a little disappointing. It feels like it is set up for one more grand finale that never comes. It doesn't need to be gated behind the highest difficulty (not that I would mind, if it was) but it does feel like something is missing, especially when considering the story of the characters. That all being said, I more than got my money's worth and I think most that like this genre of game would as well. Important Note: This is a game that is built with multiplayer in mind. While I still enjoy running solo, playing with friends is absolutely the superior experience.

I was excited to try this game because I like roguelike ARPGs. There is a solid foundation here for a good game, but it needs some notable adjustments for me to enjoy it. The gameplay is painfully slow, both the movement and how long it takes to kill enemies, and there isn't much metaprogression. Hopefully the game gets some good updates but it's hard to recommend right now. Honestly if this is the kind of game you like, the Shape of Dreams demo is free, is way more fun in my opinion, and has a surprising amount of content.

Initially, I could play it from my steam family sharing, but I very quickly decided to buy it myself with the supporter edition. Not for the skins or the two characters (though they are nice), but simply to support the developers. I genuinely appreciate this game so much, and I've put several friends onto it, and they've all liked it. I'll go back to redo this review properly some time later, but for now I just wanted to give it the positive review and quickly jot down how amazing it is. The art, the character design, the game design, the music, the voice acting, the writing, all of it very well put together - authentic and passionate. This is an absolute gem that doesn't get enough recognition for the amazing work and talent involved.

Excellent game. Very fun co-op and solo play! -- Took a few runs to get used to but at this point i've played every character through two difficulties at least and its been such a blast. Awesome game if you're two really good gamers but still fun even if one of you are and one isn't. It just is more punishing at the higher difficulties if you don't work together (as it should be!). Kudos to the dev's. Happy to see whats next!

I really enjoy this game, conceptually and in practice. I played a lot of RoR2 and once you kind of understand items in that game, it's relatively simple to get god runs where you essentially choose to end the run because it's just click and wait for the screen to explode. This game however, while having the randomness of a roguelike, has skill expression, depth, map knowledge and teamwork. It's HARD. There are 4 difficulties as it stand right now, then once you're clearing that there are negative modifiers you can add to challenge yourself ever farther. I have only cleared the second of the four difficulties but I generally play with my friend as a duo. I have played 60 hours and haven't even beat the third difficulty. I'm someone that is good at video games, ranked high in most and this game just claps my cheeks. I am still learning things about how I can be more efficient, how I can clear the map better, what abilities work well together. It's just a really well done, complex, well-crafted video game. Multiplayer scaling is kind of rough and when you play solo the game pauses while you're making selections of talents and items which is why I feel solo is easier. I could probably clear the higher difficulties if I played solo because even after all these hours I have a hard time going into a game knowing what items and/or build I am going for. It's still a blast learning with your friend(s) and seeing your synergy increase and getting a flow going! I wish there were more bosses, little more variation in the map POIs, more items to choose from but tbh those complaints are just nitpicks as it's the only negative stuff I could think of. 9.3/10, devs release great content, well thought out and originally crafted characters and are transparent with a roadmap post 1.0 launch. Give this game a try solo or with friend(s)!

Great game. Despite having only 3 chapters which you can repeat with increasing difficulty tiers, the combat is engaging and fun, the characters are unique, have a story of their own and their own combat mechanics are well fleshed out. This game is even better if you play with friends, but it is enjoyable solo as well. Art is also very beautiful. Reminds me somewhat of Thronebreaker Gwent game. Even though the game doesn't have much content, it has a lot of replay value. It may get old eventually, once you unlock everything, explored and cleared everything, upgraded your characters and unlocking their full potential, but nevertheless this is not an MMORPG or a live service that you play until you grow old. Highly recommended.

TL;DR: It strongly feels like an Early Access game or a really good demo. I used to be a dedicated gamer, nowadays i'd call myself a casual enjoyer. I really want to give this a recommendation, because it's obviously made with passion, but i really can't. I'm playing this solo on and off every now and then (mainly after bigger updates). there are quite a few unique heroes/characters to play, but i haven't maxed all of them. The heroes get XP/Level every session, which currently is a maximum of 3 maps with decent difficulty. (Aside: 1 Map is like the size of Stony Field in Diablo 2.) Monsters do feel unique, but they're not random at all, if you've got a Diablo 2 itch. The artwork is great, the graphics are nice, even though i am very picky with cartoonish art styles. It used to have a strict time limit and still has it by default, but it's possible to fully turn off the timer now with modifiers, if you're the explorer/perfectionist kind. This is how i play, but even then i'm nowhere close to having maxed all heroes, because every playthrough kind of feels the same. The maps always have the same 3 themes in the same order, the layout slightly changes, idk if this is random, but it's barely worth mentioning. Some side notes: - There is no inventory/equipment management, all you get are random-ish skills, perks and upgrades for those. There are artefacts, but they act just like perks or trinkets. - The screen never really gets obliterated with effects, which is a good thing imo. This is not a game to be too invested in, but if you want a game you can look into every now and then, go ahead, but only with discount.

Gameplay loop remains largely the same so I think I´m allowed to review this even though I´ve just started. Ravenswatch is a lot like Hades but it´s more darker and edgier than that game. You also have more options and more characters to play even though right now there´s not a lot of them but there are more to come. My main complain right now is just how slow it feels (having to wait for dash) and how some enemies have attacks that can´t be parried. Another thing is that there´s not really any reward to this game and the loading screens take forever. But most of all it is very samey and not like Hades in the sense because the maps that you´re gonna play through are all the same 3 everytime which is boring. Despite my complaints this game have nice artwork, good concept, good music and fun gameplay. The lore is also interesting as well. The only reason this game gets a high rating is because it is built like an Early Access game. I personally hate it but in a few years I think these issues will be fixed and they are very passionate about making new content. So this game has the potential to be something great if the devs just work on it which they do.

This game is a wonderful rogue like dungeon crawler RPG that feels different every time you play due to the somewhat RNG aspect of the maps, abilities, and stats available to each character. The fairy tale themed heroes makes the game very fun and thematic, making you feel immersed in the world you've sworn to protect. I highly recommend playing this with friends as it is challenging, strategic, and extremely rewarding under the right circumstances. LOVE this game! I can't wait to see what else the developers do for this game.
