Dear Ravenswatch Devs,
Could you please add a feature to allow people to reconnect to ongoing games they have been disconnected from before forcing the character to go to the progression screen. Possibly add a text box that would allow them the choice to attempt to reconnect or leave before getting forced out of the run. One small disconnection on BIS ISP should not end your run and ruin it for everyone else. Even the best available connection for most people is not perfect and prone to hiccups in connection continuity. Please consider if possible.
Thank you. Love the game

First things first: This is a challenging game, even on the lowest difficulties. They introduced game settings a few patches ago to help people access the game and enjoy it, but at Ravenswatch core is a challenging game even on the easiest difficulties.
Every hit you take matters when you start out. Healing drops from killing monsters or securing health shrines which usually involve killing monsters. If you get hit too much you'll quickly find yourself one hit away from death and stressing trying to take down anything. You need to actively monitor what the enemies around you are attacking with, and learn how to kite and avoid multiple enemies at once.
As well, the game unfortunately starts you out with some of the most demanding characters in the game. Later characters you unlock are easier, mostly because they are ranged but also because they offer more AOE attacks.
Once you've gotten a hang of the game, it becomes incredibly fun especially with friends.

TL;DR - Do recommend, but there isn't enough game. It feels like a well-polished early access they haven't completed all the content for.
23 hours in. This game is good. It's just not much. It has great quality but not much quantity. It's decently challenging, not impossible but not a cakewalk. The combat is mostly smooth, and the lack of a constant dodge requires a lot more think during the fight which is both fun and engaging. It has a good roster of 9 characters (11 with Romeo and Juliet) that all feel unique and fun (except for the mermaid who I hate with a passion). The levels are detailed and dynamic in both aesthetic and mechanical design.
But there's only 3. There's 3 levels, and then you're done. Even with different difficulties, this is a low number. So you can play different characters across the same 3 levels over and over and you're done. Risk of Rain 2, for example, had 5 different levels in rotation. The first 4 levels had 2 different biomes on release, and a third was added with an expansion. The fifth had one with one added on expansion. The variety made the game feel bigger than it was, and then they had the boss stage, the void stages, and the extra two boss stages added with expansions. That's 18 different stages to replay over and over and it didn't start to feel repetitive until it hit around the 150 mark, and even then there were three other game modes to check out.
EDIT: In the description it says there are three maps that are "randomly generated". They are not. There are two different layouts for the first map, the second and third I only ever experienced one of each. What is random is what objectives and items are placed on what nodes, but the nodes themselves never move, so once you've run the map once or twice you know where to look for all the key objectives. This is something I read before playing, but have only just reread now, and it's honestly very misleading advertising. That, coupled with the release date being almost a year ago, leads me to believe this is not something the devs are going to tackle, as I feel they would have during beta access. Therefore, I've changed my view to not recommend - this is all the game is going to offer, and it doesn't justify the price tag.
This game is clearly taking some inspiration from Hades. But Hades had levels that were larger, spread out through several doors and upgrades, and even though there's only 4 biomes in that game, because they are large enough as single rooms and then spread out across multiple rooms, the game feels a lot bigger.
This game is so much fun, but feels like a third of a game, like the devs are going to release two more expansions that let you play through and finish the story, because there just isn't enough of the good stuff here. Either add more than 3 chapters or give a set of alternate biomes so it feels bigger. Although, since you spend a limited time on each level, and there's only three, I'd suggest adding more chapters.
There is a brilliant feature where you can save your run and leave, coming back to it later. The presence of this feature means you can do crazy-long runs and commit to them, because every 20 minutes there's a chance to leave the game, walk away form the desk, go to bed, go to work, come home, and kick off again. I once did a 3-hour run on RoR2, and I had to stop because I ran out of real world time (I was doing a mechanics experiment). But if I had this feature, I could have done more. Now, here, in this game with this great feature, I can't do that because there's no point. I hit the end of chapter 3 and I'm done.
I do hope they bring out just more. The game is great, a lot of fun, gonna play a lot more, but seeing the same levels over and over has already started to grind on me a bit. It just needs more.

Very close to not recommending it. Great gameplay, interesting takes on the stories, and unique artstyle that keeps it from having that 'old' feeling that too many games get when they try to make it too 'realistic'. The big issue with this game is the lack of map diversity. After you've played the game 5 times, you've memorized the map details, and it begins to get very stale very fast. If they added in more maps and had them randomly appear, instead of always appearing in the same order, the game would probably be the best isometric game on the market. However, because of the limited maps, it's a fun 20 hours and then you never feel the need to play anymore, outside of completionist mentality.
When the 50% sale happens, it's not a terrible pickup. I'd wait to see if they ever add more maps though, instead of new characters.

im shocked how small this game is...
yes, you have a lot of different characters and you can unlock more written story about those heroes as you play them, but the game has 3 acts which take about 15min each..and thats it...always the same 3 bosses, always the same 3 stages (with a slightly mixed layout)
its like a mini-open-world hades (no room, instead 1 bigger map). combat is very fluent and feels ok. the upgrades have some minor impact on how the skill works, but nothing major.
its nice to play, dont misunderstand...its just so shockingly small (contentwise)

I wouldn't let this review discourage you from getting the game, but I'm pretty annoyed with the game design in this.
For one, to me it's felt for entirety of the time I've played the game that the needed pretty vast tweaking in balance. The game has been much harder for multiplayer than it is in singleplayer, that even feels true with their latest update/ dlc although I haven't played much of it. This is a big problem because Ravenswatch's "niche" is that they're a multiplayer roguelite. There are already a lot of other great singleplayer roguelites, so most people buying this game are looking to play it multiplayer and somehow it was left poorly balanced for that for the longest time.
In terms of balance, there are a lot of minibosses I would never fight because they're simply too strong to be worth it. Many items in this game modify stats that don't really feel meaningful. It makes a number go up incrementally I'm sure, unless you're getting one of a few legendary items I'm never excited to being getting an item, it doesn't implact my gamplay. That's even true for most item set bonuses.
The Bosses. I hate them. This was the first thing that tipped me off to be annoyed at the game design. They've set their world in a corrupted fairytale. Super cool! All the player characters are fairytales, minibosses are fairytales, the big bad final boss that takes a long time to ever even fight is a fairytale. What are the main bosses in this game? Tumors. They're oozy black tentacle creatures. It's super uninspired, especailly given what they were working with. But then in addition they're just not fun to fight. They all have a ton of area denial and bullet hell attacks where the gameplay is mostly just dodging and waiting until you can attack, which is very boring at best, frustrating at worst. It's like that because they want to make attacks that all of the multiple players have to react to, but their solution just homogenizes the misery for everyone.
It's not hard for me to imagine better, more thematically interesting and gameplay interesting bosses too. Imagine one of the bosses was Alibaba and his hundred thieves. Then the boss is a horde battle, it's much more thematic and interesting, their attacks threaten all of multiple players without just being a repetitive sequence of area denial attacks. I could go on.
Also it would've been much better if the minibosses dropped their own unique traits rather than legendary treasures. That way you fight the miniboss if you know one of their traits is broken for your build. As it is now you fight minibosses on the off chance you'll get one of the generally broken legendary items that's great in every build. It'd also just be really sick to fight a miniboss with a cool attack and then you beat him and your character kind of steals that attack.

The game is actually quite fun. The characters are unique, and the chapters are well-designed and engaging. However, it lacks random events in each chapter, which would add more of (roguelike RNG) element and keep the gameplay feeling fresh and unpredictable. Also really hoping for more chapters in the future

A slog of a roguelite. The balance is questionable at best. So many annoyances between animation locks on ability use preventing you from canceling them to get out of harms way, long cooldown on abilities to "dodge" enemies attacks, off screen enemies preventing you from interacting with point of interests, lot of useless items that doom your run on higher difficulties, the leash mechanic for enemies that always activates too late, poor level layouts that eat away at your timer, absurdly small radius to detect point of interests, and even fodder enemies being damage sponges.
Crazy this is the same people that made Curse of the Dead Gods.

Game is too hard. There needs to be an easier difficulty. Just gets unfair when world TWO feels impossible. Played for 2 hours and swarm after swarm after swarm of high HP spread attack enemies run at you and you deal no damage to them while you are constantly forced to dodge and run in circles. It eliminated any sort of fun these types of games provide (killing loads of enemies) because the game gets too hard too fast. I typically like these kinds of games, but not this one. I was playing co-op with 1 other person and neither of us are new to this stuff. It was too much. Felt tedious instead of fun.

so im kind of sad to give this a thumbs down.
i love the characters and art, but the actual game is just to speed run around the map trying to accomplish mini objectives to quickly get stronger to fight the boss. You do this 3x in a loop, level, boss, level, boss, level, boss, and then it's over. You can do it again on a harder mode.
The game loop felt too short and too repetitive. I also don't find it fun that you're encouraged to skip as many mobs as you can to try and complete points of interest instead. it's just a mad rush, but not in a good way. felt like the game needs more depth in this aspect. which is a shame, because it's got lots of depth with characters, talents, items, etc.

No characters are hidden behind paid DLC either, awesome. :)

Played it in EA and refunded, I couldn't match with anyone and I was disconnected constantly. Now the game is amazing the loop is very fun and the connectivity issues are mostly resolved, I'm having a blast.
PS - If you wanna know how Elden Ring Nightreign is play this game, its apparent where they got their idea of day/night cycles, farming around the map and then defeating the final boss.

Everything about this game is excellent except the gameplay
I played solo. TONS of enemies and MASSIVE health pools... It should be kill and move, kill and move but right now you are stuck fighting for ages... fights just don't stop, enemies just REFUSE to die
Only beat the game (on 2nd difficulty, so normal I guess) with the piper and snow queen, both are ranged, every other character feels so weak in comparison (forget playing anyone thats melee lol)
This game needs balance badly, devs release free dlc and seem like a good bunch but how about adding some FUN to your game? Give your players power, look at RoR 2 or Windblown, people want to break the game and go nuts

A masterfully executed, fun and engaging action-roguelike since launch.
The addition of more events types bring better RNG mitigation, diversity (plus the upcoming new FREE characters!!), and engaging mechanics.
I've played A LOT of games from this genre, and you're baby has been sitting on top of my playlist for a long time! Great work! *tips hat to the devs*

As much as I enjoy the genre and the general idea of the game, the trend of "hey, here are a few stages that are almost impossible to clear unless you spend hours grinding and raising your stats", it is starting to feel more and more like microtransactions and a way to keep players playing. One might object that it's because I am not a great player, and I'm not, but after playing a number of games like these, the novelty wears off.

quite close to not recommending, similar thoughts to other players.
the game itself is well made but needs more maps/content. the characters have depth and progression but you play the same 3 maps on all 4 difficulties over and over which makes the game go stale very quickly even if you want to master every character.
10 hours max before you get tired of the 3 maps.

I begin to understand now what other humans call "the power of love".
Well not sure if it's that op irl tho, i think people get naturaly nerfed when they born.
At least it's kinda realistic in the sense this "new duo" cant stop kissing every 2sec, and when they start to dance I do not even tell you, but they f u c k everyone.

Elden ring nightreign is just a parody of ravenswatch xD
To be honest, this game brilliantly expands on the ideas of the previous game of Passtech, creating the best roguelike with a focus on your build in each run. However, if you're looking for an excellent combat system — buy Curse of the Dead Gods!

This is a solid game where skill really is a huge factor.
I wish the common items sets were easier to get because you cannot tell what the good bonus is until you get x5 copies of them in a single run.
Rare you need x4 copies and Epic x3 copies which means epic items are easier to master out than the Rare and Common it is a very interesting choice.
That said item choice / talent choice randomness it really cool.
There are 4 difficulties with the first 1 being easy mode almost once you learn the game and your character.
The 2 is harder but doesn't really up the challenge a ton, but 3 and 4 bring your A game :)
With each character having so many varied builds it is a solid system.
Down point: WHY DO YOU NOT HAVE A CHAT FEATURE!!!

This game is an absolute gem and deserves your support if anything. This game is basically if you took the midgame of League of Legends and turned it into a PvE game (something I have always longed for). I think if this game hit a critical mass of players it would blow up. There are a few niche things about the game mainly the aesthetics, characters, and day/night cycle. But honestly this game is pretty great and if we want more games like this then we should support the studios trying to make such games.

After 100 hours, I can say it's a great game. Buy it.
I would only ask that you make all the cosmetics you release payable, but that the new updates you release (mainly those related to gameplay, quests, systems, OR HEROES) be free, please.

10/10 Would highly recommend this game has made it's way into one of my favorites of all time! It's highly addictive, and can be challenging with different difficulty and characters it's exceptionally crafted. The seemless co-op that you can play with up to 3 other add so much variety and enjoyment. I've play for more than 85 hour and I still can't get enough the devs are actively updating the game and have a road map for the next year of updates. The combat is fluid and rewarding. Every run feel like it's not the same and presents new challenges each play-through. The theme of the game is very interesting and the soundtrack never gets old. I highly recommend if you're a fan of action roguelikes and like satisfying combat with a lot of replay value.

Cool honeymoon phase
Then the RNG fest kicks in.
At the highest difficulty, RNG decides if you have interesting skills/items/shops/layouts, easy or hard events/bossfights.
Veteran players admitting they spam reset a game if the start of the run is subpar tells you enough.
Many attack hitboxes lie to the players, and monster proximity will prevent you from interacting with resources even when said ennemies are a screen and a half away eating cookies.
The game is charmign and cheap, and I would recommend it for casuals, but serious players will be frustrated.

Tried it multiple times since buying it and have yet to have a run that was enjoyable enough to make me want to do another, for an action roguelike none of the upgrades I've gotten have felt worthwhile or fun, it's just kinda bland. It feels more like playing heroes of the storm with bad talents options than something like vampire survivors.

I liked the game. Haven't used everyone. Down side is including 2 people that you have to use together. I have no one I play games with online. Glad it didn't cost me anything. Add a bot to play a second player or don't include Characters that require the counter part to be useful. Romeo and Juliet are useless to me if I need another player.

as fun as the game can be, its way too niche with how high the damage scales. The randoms you will encounter will make you wonder if you are playing the same game. Discord can help but its rough man, maybe a resurgence with alot more character or someting, otherwise nah man.

Not my usual kind of game, but I'm in love with the new twists they put on old fairytale characters (most of them anyway) and just how differently they all play from each other. It just feels good to move around in this game being able to dash and have a secondary movement ability depending on the character, and how you kite enemies around to gather them into AOE zones. I also really like the gameplay loop and level structure. You get 20 or so minutes per level and when the clock runs out you have to fight the level boss and they are super tough even when you learn their patterns. I can see myself replaying this a lot to test out all the characters, their builds, as well as seeing what different difficulty modifiers and difficulty settings do to spice up the experience.

The combat mechanics are solid and each character is unique with different abilities and playstyles. Higher difficulties are not very fun alone, the game is balanced to play with others. So if you have friends to play with then I highly recommend this game. I played Curse of the Dead Gods from this developer and also liked that one. The enemy AI and abilities are a lot of fun to work around.

i genuinely had a ton of fun with this game when it first released. But the match making seems to only get worse and worse when they add new characters. People refuse to change characters and will grief in your game just to waste your time. Theres also no penalty for leaving the game early which can ruin a great run for someone. They need to add a leaver penalty and make sure that when you queue up with a character that it matches you with people who arent on the same character. Just today i loaded into a match where all 4 randoms were trying to play Juliet and refused to swap. When i did swap, everyone else had already left the game

This game doesn’t feel worth the price in its current state.
The overall content is extremely limited — even for a roguelike. Each run consists of only three stages, and with a strict 15-minute time limit per stage, a full playthrough barely lasts an hour. To make matters worse, the tasks in each stage are repetitive, which makes the gameplay feel stale after just a few runs. The game would benefit greatly from more stages, increased variety, and additional content to keep players engaged.
That said, one of the highlights is the character design. Each character has a distinct look and a unique playstyle, which adds some depth and replayability. Personally, I really enjoyed how different each character feels during combat — it’s clear that effort was put into making them stand out.
With more content and variety, this game has the potential to be something great.

It's a fun game. The presentation is fantastic, the characters are all unique and fun to play. The roguelike elements make the skills feel different so that "builds" don't all feel exactly the same. But there's just one huge issue...
There's not enough game in the game. Once you've completed a single run (which takes a little under an hour) you've seen everything. There's small variances in maps, and each run is slightly different, but effectively you've done it all with your first run. There's not very much replayability in my opinion because there's no "roguelite" progression. So once you've beat it, you're kinda done. Fun, but feels way, way too short to be worth full price currently. Game needs more levels, more rng events in runs, and somehow much progression or something.
Such low effort and character
Slow-paced rogue-like "arena-crawler". Ravenswatch does not have anything special to offer in terms of gameplay. It's not a miss but it's basic, obvious things, nothing bold in sight. No risk taken from the art direction as well. It's horribly distasteful and devoid of a soul of its own. The VA is creepily bad. The roster and bestiary is ripped off traditional folklore nowhere near reappropriated. The "story" is both too present and comically standard. The music will drive you mad with is telegraphed ostinatos all over.
It still gets a bit addictive though so they must have done something right but I'm sure they could have done so so much more than this run-of-the-mill fantasy setting taking cues from a few things that work ok without trying to be its own thing.
