My Time at Sandrock is a heartfelt and engaging life simulation RPG that successfully builds upon the charming foundation laid by its predecessor, My Time at Portia, while carving out its own distinct identity. Set in a vibrant post-apocalyptic desert town, the game invites players to step into the shoes of a fledgling builder tasked with revitalizing Sandrock by crafting, farming, mining, and forging relationships with a diverse cast of characters. From the outset, the game captivates with its warm, colorful art style and a sprawling open world that blends rustic charm with subtle sci-fi elements, creating an inviting environment ripe for exploration and creativity. The gameplay loop is robust and satisfying, seamlessly integrating resource gathering, crafting, and town development with social interaction and quest completion. Players will find themselves balancing daily tasks—from repairing buildings and upgrading tools to growing crops and raising animals—with building meaningful friendships and romantic relationships. The NPCs in Sandrock are thoughtfully written and fully voiced, each bringing unique stories and personalities that enrich the world and make social engagement genuinely rewarding. The game's emphasis on choice and consequence adds depth to dialogues and story arcs, encouraging multiple playthroughs to uncover all its nuances. Mechanically, My Time at Sandrock refines the crafting and building systems, offering greater customization and complexity compared to its predecessor. The introduction of new crafting stations, vehicle upgrades, and expanded farming mechanics provides a more layered and strategic experience, catering both to players who enjoy methodical planning and those who prefer a more relaxed, sandbox approach. The combat system, while not the central focus, offers occasional dungeon-crawling and monster encounters that provide a fun diversion and a chance to test the player’s skills, with a balanced difficulty curve that ensures accessibility without sacrificing challenge. Visually, the game impresses with detailed character models, expressive animations, and beautifully rendered environments that capture the dusty yet hopeful atmosphere of Sandrock. Dynamic weather and day-night cycles not only enhance immersion but also affect gameplay, influencing crop growth and NPC schedules. The soundtrack complements the visual style perfectly, blending soothing melodies with lively tunes that capture both the serenity and bustle of town life. While My Time at Sandrock boasts many strengths, it is not without its flaws. Some players may find the early pacing slow as the game eases them into its systems, and occasional bugs and performance hiccups—particularly on certain platforms—can disrupt immersion. Additionally, some quests and dialogue options can feel repetitive or overly simplistic. However, ongoing updates from the developers show a commitment to polishing the experience and expanding content, which bodes well for the game’s long-term appeal. In summary, My Time at Sandrock is a rich and charming life simulation that successfully deepens the crafting, exploration, and social mechanics of its predecessor while crafting a unique and inviting world. Its blend of engaging gameplay loops, heartfelt storytelling, and vibrant aesthetics make it a standout title for fans of simulation and RPGs alike. Whether you’re drawn to the joys of building and farming or the warmth of forming community ties in a recovering desert town, My Time at Sandrock offers a fulfilling and immersive experience that encourages players to slow down, explore, and invest in a world full of possibilities. First game I 100%!! I could never 100 other similar games because I'm a one person gal. No matter how many replays I do, I marry same person, and never divorce! Ty! I love this game!

I can't believe I've never written a review of this game. As you can see, I have spent a whole lot of time in MTAS. I played all the way back when they were slow dripping the game's story in parts during early access. It was really lovely watching this game bloom in the way that it did. After playing this, I'm a forever Pathea fan. People complained that the game's story is too long, but idk, I really quite enjoyed that it was. That just meant I got more time with these amazing characters and this world. Every part of this game feels real and fleshed out. It's the cream of the crop in the genre, imho. From worldbuilding to relationship mechanics to the dialogue... it's all something seriously special. You can tell they care deeply about their game in the way everything has been designed. There are only two negative things I have to say about this game. One is a big one and one is a much smaller gripe. House building + decorating is absolutely abysmal. It is just so bad. The camera jumps + jerks if you click on something. Stairs randomly appear where you don't think they'll appear. It's a wild time. As a lover of house building and decorating, that seriously bummed me out. The second thing is the character creator. It was better in this game than in the original game My Time at Portia, but it still didn't feel the best. All of the hair options were lacking in variety, especially at the start. For instance, there was no longer hair option, but there were several pigtail options. I hope they take a look at these elements and let them cook more for their future titles. All of that aside, this game is one of my absolute favorites and it deserves all of its flowers. Thank you Pathea for this wonderful game.

It's been... A long road. Boy, you've got that right. There's a reason only 8% of people have completed the main story. This game is an UNDERTAKING! When comparing to My Time at Portia, it's clear this game has improved, developed, and evolved. If you liked the predecessor you will like this, but I think it's like twice as long, which is wild. I got 75% of the achievements by just playing and not chasing anything and it took me 178 in game days to complete the game. That said, sometimes the game will force pace on you for narrative reasons, such as making you wait until the next day to proceed with something. All in all, this game is really well done and built with care. The storyline takes so many twists and turns as you really feel like this is a place you've lived in for a long time and things are just happening over time. By the time you're done, you really feel like you've lived here for a couple years and watched the place and the people living in it grow and evolve as you finally help Sandrock reach a good place. The characters are distrinct, some come, some go, some stay, some change, but truly in the end you will feel like you really experienced something wholesome and complete. I definitely recommend this game to those who enjoy this genre, especially if you liked the predecessor, but again, be warned that this is going to take a mountain of your time.

I played My time at Portia and had absolutely loved it. My Time at Sandrock is just as good, if not better! I'm loving the story so far, the characters are great, and some of the quality of life issues from the first game are greatly improved. I almost feel guilty for having bought this on sale because it really is worth the full price.

If the number of hours I have put on this came isn't enough to talk you into buying it, buy it for its replay ability and the stories! THE STORIES!!! Gosh love this game. Can't wait for Evershine.

+ + + Paid 30$ (on sale) for a single 250h+ playthrough of solid fun, now thats a sweet deal. This game is very easy so the learning curve is really your level of immersion thats gonna carry you through the long story. The world (Sandrock community), vibe, and music are quite positive and uplifting, if you are going through a rough patch in your life, this will definitely bring a sense of belonging that we might no longer feel in this present age. - - - Now, what is detrimental to its replayability value, even though its a open world, are the NPCs and the playtime system. While its still improvement compare to My Time at Portia, you have very little option at the begining of the game, like 4 locations, a lack of fun things to do (the mini games are way to easy) a redondance of dialogue and a lack of relationship decay, (unless you date 5 NPCs at the same time or go out of your way to wake up people out of their beds), which makes the whole thing demotivational because -minor spoiler- since the game is so easy, at some point you enter God mode: you have hundreds of every items, you can take and give commissions on the fly and everybody in town is your BFF or good friends, that you talk to them or not, some events will raise everyone relation points by lots, so the point of doing something with someone that you max out is kinda pointless, unless you marry them to have those extra lines of dialogue. I think in my opinion that its where the game becomes to long, because most of the NPCs are no longer carrying the story line in that special "I still have things to tell you and activities to do with you" way. My advise Your first playthrough will be your most memorable experience, take it slow and enjoy every discoveries, every cutscenes as if you were reading some A+ novel for the first time. For those who cant afford expensive trips to Tralala lands, this is your next best option.

my time at portia was so ugly, but i still had a lot of fun with it although the longevity wasn't that great. but this game? i was obsessed with it once playing 110 hours a few months ago and now im back onto that horse. i think its hilarious, incredibly fun, there's a lot to do honestly and the townspeople are written wonderfully. and the story? insane. i love this game.

I really thought this game would grab me the way My Time at Portia once did. At first, it seemed like it might: you arrive in a dusty desert town, people greet you, you get some quests, and you're free to start crafting. It looked charming, with a clear art style and a promising setup. But within a few hours, the magic was completely gone. The world feels lifeless. Instead of exploring with curiosity or discovering new areas, you're mostly trudging through sand with buildings that barely serve a purpose. There’s no real sense of wonder or liveliness. Everything feels like filler — placed there just to fill space, not to add anything meaningful. On top of that, the game demands way too much from the get-go, and gives almost nothing in return. You're constantly gathering, recycling, crafting — and that loop never ends. You need to build a crane? First, you need to hope you get the right materials from scrap, which you then need to process, while your inventory fills up and there’s no easy way to get rid of items. One wrong click — like accidentally making a second axe — gets you instantly punished. Combat or any kind of variation? Forget it. The whole experience is a grind, and even that’s painfully slow. In the few hours I played, I didn’t even get the chance to experience an event or a proper fight. The main quest was already annoying, and to make it worse, one villager actually scolds you for chopping down cactuses. That was the moment I really wanted to rage-quit. The inventory system is a nightmare. It fills up insanely fast, you can't just drop items, and you're constantly micromanaging junk. And while Portia surprised me with new buildings and progression, this game just piles on more tasks with less reward. Even the supposed "gifts" from the makers feel like a joke — like getting clothes you can’t even wear until level 15, which takes dozens of hours to reach. That’s not a reward. That’s just patronizing. I quit after 3.5 hours and have zero urge to come back. Everything that Portia got right, Sandrock got wrong. It's a stretched-out, soulless grind machine that buries creativity and fun under systems that actively work against you. One of the biggest disappointments in my game library.

90% of the games achievements, completed the main story and all content of merit. This is the best cozy game I have every played with some caveats. Do not romance the childhood friend or the bandit. You get them so late into the story you can't enjoy any perks for being married. I married the in game day before the final achievement for beating the game. You get services to automate building later, it is very convenient but it breaks the game play loop and I started clicking on the machine and sleeping as by that point the entire town was BFF's with me. Avoid those two major pitfalls and you will have an even better time than I had. The only DLC worth buying is the romance one, the other ones are pointless. I think the monster DLC should likely be held off on until a second play though as it undermines some mechanics in the base game system. 9.5/10, really looking forward to the next one.

I've owned this game for quite awhile but started playing it as I waited for Fantasy Life to come out. I'm so glad I did. I adored Portia and knew I would like Sandrock but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. For the most part everything is improved - the story telling, the characters, gameplay mechanics, the world in general. You can happily sink hours into this game as you're kept genuinely engaged.

although i initially had some trouble trying to get into 'my time at portia', i love, love, LOVE 'my time at sandrock'. it can be a little intimidating at first, trying to get your head around all the mechanics of it, but please persist! i've played nearly 100 hours of it now and i don't think i'll be stopping soon. the gameplay itself feels so rewarding; getting to see the dilapidated town of sandrock, filled with people on the verge of defeat, flourish into a bustling little travel hub is so sweet and heartwarming. tl;dr: try this game out!!! i was so pleasantly surprised by it and i will 100% be keeping an eye on the game studio's next project!

I can't stop playing. This game is way larger than it seems and has SO much depth regarding story and characters! I certainly did not expect this and in the beginning I didn't really want to play it because I didn't like the dry post-apocalyptic desert atmosphere. But all the little quest in the beginning and the main story got me hooked pretty quickly. Still, I thought, that's a cute little farming game with some story. After playing for many hours, I noticed I didn't even got through a 3rd of the main story! And that's without regard to the quests given by NPCs. The main story got better and better during the game, something I hardly see in any game (usually the main stories start strong and ebb down during progression, sadly). Here, I always can't wait until the next main story quest is available, it's so thrilling. Also the way, NPCs behave towards the player feels so immersive and well-thought out, story and characters really feel alive. I was so surprised that characters can make confessions towards the player; in other farming/cozy games, I feel like a creep stalking NPCs and bribing them with gifts until I have enough hearts. In sandrock, I accidently became the girlfriend of one character as I didn't know this game mechanic of reverse confessions exist. And there is not a single romance option in the town that I think is boring. Everyone has a unique personality and unique questlines. The only two downsides in my opinion is the grind sometimes, and the multiplayer version. For the grind, you often need to have machines researched that can take several days and that will halt story progression; as well as endless mining for ores since some main quests require excessive amounts of material. The multiplayer is quite different from the singleplayer; it doesn't have any story and feels shallow especially when you know how lively the characters can be. The sandbox gameplay is interesting but since you can't skip time, it is a lot of waiting around. TLDR: Extremely good, immersive and long story, NPCs feel alive and have great quests, sometimes the grind is tedious and multiplayer is bad compared to singleplayer.

I haven't had this much fun in cozy games since Havest moon: back to nature (the ones that started it all) and Stardew Valley. This is right up there with them. NPCs are done really well, Soundtrack is done really well. I'm enjoying being in the world and understand it's a lot of small little details done right to give this overall vibe. It has a very good way of fencing and directing the player in a general direction via story or stuff that introduced little by little so the purpose never lacks. This is textbook of good cozy farm game design. Recommend.

Had a blast for 30 hours in single player. Crafting, building, living the desert dream. Then poof, almost all my items vanished like a tumbleweed in a sandstorm. Now I'm just staring at the empty storage boxes wondering if I should start over or just go outside and touch grass. Spoiler: grass wins. Fun game, but I’m not about to dig through the desert all over again. Play at your own risk

TLDR 5/5. Play this game. I say this completely seriously and without hyperbole. My Time at Sandrock is the best game I've ever played. I've been playing games for three decades, and I've played a lot of them. I like a pretty broad variety of games across a lot of genres. Every now and then you play a game that you wish you could forget and experience for the first time again. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Persona 4, and now this are those games for me. I've never cared about a game world or characters more. On a technical level there are some mechanics that are kind of janky, but it just doesn't matter. The entire game is just so charming that I don't care. There are probably people who wouldn't appreciate some of the tongue and cheek humor the way I do. There are probably people who just don't like the social sim builder games as much as I do. Maybe this game just happens to be that special game that checks all the right boxes for specifically me, but I absolutely can't put it down. The desire to progress and see what happens next and how the world will grow is just too strong. I did play My Time at Portia. I liked that game, too, but it didn't make me feel the same as Sandrock does. As similar as the games are, I feel like the things the team learned from the first game made a huge impact on the second. As it should, I suppose, but I would say if some of the quirks in Portia turned you off of the game you should still give this one a chance. Everyone should give this one a chance. It's really friggen good. 5/5

The game is super entertaining and creative in my opinion. The story line is exciting and the tasks are difficult enough to keep your attention. The music is also really nice and sets the scene in a nice way. I would definitely recommend if you like story line games like this.

Love this game. I had it on my switch and it was very glitchy there - much better on PC. I am still able to use my switch remote with relatively few problems (every once in awhile I need to restart the game for reasons related to my remote as well as the game starts to have interesting abnormal things happen - more entertaining then not) Just takes a minute to reboot then all is good. I cannot wait for Evershine to happen! Super love this whole series!

Fun game, definitely put more effort into the depth of the characters compared to the first game. However, the unskippable rambling you can accidentally get stuck in during the end of the game was a dirty trick that long overstayed its welcome to be funny. I had to force quit the game before I literally died of boredom.

Sandrock has a rather steep learning curve, even for a farming/adventure sim, with a lot of content to find time for digging into. And it doesn't handle it all perfectly, with some odd design choices here and there. But once you get into the groove, it has a lot more to offer than some of its ilk, and some satisfying gameplay routines. The writing is also an unusually strong point for its genre.

I absolutely love this game and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the cozy or life sim genre, especially if you like gathering, crafting, and a bit of adventure. I also really appreciate the RPG elements, like leveling up and equipping clothing and weapons with unique stats. Before purchasing I did not do any research about the game, nor have I played any of the other titles in the series. I really was not expecting much, however, I am now 120 hours in and I am so pleasantly surprised. I still have so much to do. The story is fun and engaging, though I have not completed it yet. It is nice and long, which is awesome! I have never run out of things to do besides the story either; you can do side quests, work on commissions to make money, fight stuff, make a cool house/factory/greenhouse. The combat isn't anything fancy, and it is not overly hard, but its also not jankey either. That is the biggest thing for me when it comes to combat. Overall, really, I am not sure I could list one thing off the top of my head that I actually dislike about this game. I love all of the different personalities that the characters bring to the table and the vast majority of the game is voice-acted (and well I might add), which is a feat. You can observe the attention to detail and the love that went into this. For the price tag it is a steal, especially in today's gaming market. I am looking forward to seeing what My Time at Evershine will bring.

Sandrock is no doubt a clear cut improvement over its previous iteration. Quality of life tweaks, better voiceover, more serious writing and a highly enjoyable core career of finding and refining materials to fulfil the needs of the folks around you. There are a good few drawbacks to the game which appear to be permanent, now that the developer has moved on to produce the next title in the series. Bugs are occasional, and you'd be guaranteed to run into at least one during a full game - model pop-in, slow loading, scenes freezing as characters try to occupy the same spot, a phantom chest that appears on the minimap, and I had to force quit the game once when a meal with another character at the saloon locked up. A large part of the main plot does make sense logistically, but has a few trip-ups in translation much like Portia had. It's noticeable in sections that must have been written and produced early in development. However, partway through this changes and the dialogue is not just translated, but localised extremely well - almost too familiar, as the new person on the job puts in an absolutely incredible amount of Simpsons references. It does have its own humour though, and after getting into the meat of the game it becomes apparent just how funny it's able to be. Shout out to Cooper the sleeper hit character, and the quests named things like 'Rager At Unsuur's'. There are also a few balancing issues on the technical side - I can only implore others to avoid the achievement for unlocking every knowledge skill. The system simply is not balanced and caused me to spend a badly planned amount of time after completing the story just farming experience for skills I didn't need. The fundamentals are not well thought out, for things like battle EXP and social EXP, and this should have been retooled to incorporate more logical sources and be overall easier to naturally achieve. All that considered, though, this game did somehow capture my affection. The characters feel believable and just the right side of quirky. The storyline gets more directly anti-fascist than I could have expected, with a couple twists that impressed me. The cartoony shapes and colours genuinely are a treat to look at even though the baked-in limitation of a desert location removes some of the season-to-season changes, but I liked that it stuck to that premise. It may go off the rails a little by the end, sacrificing the well-respected overall theme of conservation and respect for the environment at the feet of creating a gawky, plastic amusement park, and the game suffers a little bit from its being published in early access slices, creating tonal differences in quests added years apart, and putting unnecessary resources into bland romance options and latecomer NPCs who aren't developed at all. Despite everything, I can't say I didn't enjoy most of my time in Sandrock, a massively sprawling game in story and scope with appealing stylisation and a knack for surprising you.

I have always enjoyed Harvest Moon, Story Of Seasons, And most games alike so playing this was right up my alley. I loved how this game takes a twist, instead of just being a farmer this time your a builder! and in a post apocalyptic world too, you'll just have to see for yourself as to what kind. Creating relationships with all of the characters has always been one of my favorite aspects to these types of games and watching as the town gets better as the story unfolds is exciting too! It really is a great game, I do wish little things could have been easier to locate like a better list of where to find materials or maybe showing them on the map better, I would have liked if i could have tracked Characters too. Also if you progress too quickly the game process slows down quite a bit i think this could have been managed or guided the player differently. other than minor personal dislikes this really is a lovely game and i cannot wait for the next one! Yes I would recommend to other players. Sincerely: Just a fellow pack member in the gaming community ;) xShiloWolfx.

***There is a mild spoiler**** Bought this game only knowing that there was a silver haired cowboy riding a goat and that half of the male romances are autistic. It was pretty much the only game I played in June and now that I'm coming somewhat towards the end of my first play-through, it's been nothing but a joy. The writing is fantastic and the characters are all incredibly solid. I'm actually sad that eventually my run will be over. Since this is super important for me, the romances are great. Logan has become one of my all time favourite video games romances of all time. I have experienced some bugs that were a bit frustrating, such as having sandstorms on certain days where there was supposed to be a main event celebration that I would miss. Frankly, nothing major and whatever negatives I have are greatly outweighed by the positives of the game. This is def a game I plan on replaying in the future and intend on playing My Time in Portia once I have completed my first run.

I love this game. It's a cozy game that's not repetitive or boring and the best part is, is that you don't have to farm! And if you do farm, you don't have to water your plants every day. I love the cast of characters, and I enjoy the crafting aspect of the game very much. It's definitely worth the money.

“My Time at Sandrock” is a refreshing and well-balanced entry in the cozy life-simulation genre that had me hooked from the very first day. After struggling to find a game that struck the right tone—either too childish or too simplistic, too repetitive or too cloyingly “cozy”—Sandrock manages to thread the needle perfectly. It feels playful without being juvenile, relaxing without ever becoming dull, and surprisingly deep in its romantic subplot. Each romanceable character, especially the girls of Sandrock, boasts a fully realized personality that makes you genuinely consider who you’d choose to spend the rest of your days with. The writing and character-building are so deft that your desire to win someone’s heart feels almost as real as it would be in everyday life. Gameplay-wise, there’s always something to do—from gathering resources and crafting to exploring ruins and building up the town’s workshop. At times I found myself overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tasks vying for my attention; as an organized, perfectionist player, I often felt like I didn’t have enough daylight hours to accomplish everything efficiently. That’s the only minor quibble I have—occasionally the daily task list can feel a bit excessive. But even after logging over 50 hours, I’m far from bored. The variety of activities, the adorable cast, and the promise of fresh surprises keep me coming back day after day. “My Time at Sandrock” isn’t just another cozy sim—it’s a charming, immersive world that I can’t wait to continue exploring. Highly recommended for anyone craving a cozy adventure with real depth.

100% recommend. I love the story, the art, and all the crafting/farming you can do. Take it slow and enjoy the pace! It is a very fun game to play.

I absolutely love the My Time series! I played Portia before this one, and this is probably my favorite game series of all time. I usually don't finish games. I will start one and get distracted by another game before I finish. These are pretty much the only games I have played all the way through. I really enjoy the game play and the graphics. It is fun getting to know the characters and the story line, and all the pets if you get the DLC are so cute. If you have played Portia before they have added several features to make game play more smooth. I love that you can store things in a chest and then it can automatically be used at the assembly station, worktable, and most missions. I have played the MTaS across a few platforms, accumulating hundreds of hrs. I am playing it on steam now and I hope everyone who comes across it will give it a try :)

Oopsie...? I kinda forgot about the whole bedtime thing while playing. At least it was more than worth the money. I love the characters so far and love the gameplay loop. If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd probably still be playing instead of typing this :)

If you are a fan of games like Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons and more, you will enjoy this game. This has more combat in it as a heads up though I think its fairly approachable.

Best crafting sim I've seen and it's not even close, a crazy overachiever of a game that's just satisfying all around, gameplay wise and story wise. 10/10 on an emotional level, 9/10 if I'm being completely objective because there are some minor rough edges but I mean, comparing to other games of the genre I've played, comparing to all the underwhelming end products of much bigger studios and productions......yeah, 10/10 Gameplay: mostly standard crafting sims stuff but with proper inventory management, proper layout management and proper automation later on. You'd think you'd see these more often but you don't, and MTAS delivered. Pretty unique mines and mining actions too, and they didn't do the usual forced delays in late game mines like so many others do (lava lakes, reduced visibility, you know the kind) so, kudos on that too Story and characters: a big adventure that is at least 10 times the content, and satisfaction, of what I'd expect from a crafting sim. Colorful townspeople and romance options. Fully voiced. Abundant cinematics and actions. this crafting sim I picked up on a whim was a better story focused RPG than, well, actual story focused RPGs I've played in recent memories So yeah, Fantastic job Pathea, hit me with Evershine any time, can't wait

If you enjoyed the first series, Sandrock is a must buy for you on sales. It has everything the first game has to offer plus tons of quality of life features as well as customization. These are things that you should avoid completely when getting the game 1. DLCs - those are mostly cosmetic. One of them makes the game into a mini pokemon which isn't a big deal 2. Multiplayer - read the reviews and comments. In short, it is super underwhelming. 3. Community drama - There are loud minority which hates on woke, hates on game made by China etc In short, My Time at Sandrock is probably one of the best life sims game I've played. It beats Stardew Valley at everything (ie. story, gameplay, lore, NPCs, liveliness of the town, graphic) except the multiplayer feature, and probably music/sound effect).

This game is evolved version of Portia. The story improved, the style improved etc. It is a bit more challenging compare to Portia, since it is in a land where there are limited resources. After having played Portia, you can see how the dev worked to get the timeline of Portia story to match up with the Sandrock story. Highly recommend.
