I'm a Dad, and with that I don't get much time for games. This game has held my attention off and on for months. Keeps me at my pc and gaming, when my boy doesn't need me at least. definite recommend.

this along with the mods available = the greatest mechwarrior game i have played ! So much fun to be had and mods can make it pretty complex and you can tailor the game to your personal preferences. This along YAML and the mods that support it , add coyote missions and you have perfection!

ONLY if you buy the game on sale, and only with MODS enabled. Then it becomes a choose your level of complexity / difficulty sandbox game. You definitely should enjoy elements of FPS & Flight / Driving sim games to really enjoy a Mechwarrior title. If you aren't sure, I suggest waiting for MW5 Clans to go on sale, and play it's main campaign. If you like that, then investing in MW5 Mercs w/ Mods will give you endless hours of play.

If you played and liked Mech 4 Mercenaries this is a good next chapter. You do need to add some Mods for better customization options, Just look up most installed for this game. Make sure you strip mechs you are going to sell (at least some of them) so you have enough parts to fix yours when they get smashed.

Game is buggy, and the weasels that moderate the forum for this game will ban you for anything.

I get this game on a whim because my friend wanted me to play it with him. He introduces me to the wonderful world of Battletech. It is now the Steam Summer Sale, and I can get all of the DLC for a great bargain. I recommend you all do the same. Pick your missions, arm your mechs, and begin your own Batchall. Also... check your graphics when running this game, she can run a little hot but she's smooth as butter when you tweak it right.

Good game. Yet another mechlab is absolutely essential mod to even play it. Piranha dumbed the mechbuilding down enormously for the "modern audience", not realizing the complex designing of mechs is exactly why people would play this game. So you go around in a sandbox world taking on missions, there's story missions and side adventures you can take on or ignore, and with each mission you can take parts from the mechs you defeated and money to spend on the market. You use it to upgrade or redesign mechs, buy new ones, then go for harder missions. Meanwhile keeping enough money to repair damaged mechs, or replace mechs that get completely destroyed on the mission. Great for "build crafting", as you don't know exactly what parts you'll have available and you're going to have to make it work. Everything from your mechs armor, armor type, speed, rotation speed, weaponry, ammo, cooling systems, radar systems, jumpjets and more can be customized (with mods). Endless potential for builds, like equipping the smallest and cheapest mech in the game with a devastating long range artillery cannon able to oneshot even the most heavily armored opponents, but it now has a max speed of 3km/h, 4 shots total, and dies to a light breeze. Very fun, mods are essential.

The game doesn´t work proper and fails to tell me what the problem is, the only info is Fatal error, i tried absolutly erverything searched for tipps online and gave every info a try, nothing worked so i returned the game even though i really wanted to play it with my brother. I think it is a shame because it seemed like a really great mech game.

I've played every Mechwarrior game since I was like 8 or 9. Even Hawks revenge. The early game is a bit of a struggle session, but I think it's supposed to be that way. The second you get some tonnage under your lance and some upgrades the game just takes off and keeps going. After you play it through to your satisfaction Get the mod list from a youtuber named Baradul and you might need to download them off Nexus mods. Entirely different game. But the stock vanilla is still fun.

Fantastic game, really sucked me into the whole Battletech universe. Vanilla isn't ideal, but that can be fixed with a quick visit to the Workshop to grab the Von and Yaml collections My only issue is there isn't more

This game is amazing and very much to date with today's graphics. With mods you have everything you ever wished: many different mechs and their variants, lots of weapons, sand box experience, coop, even better graphics and effects, etc, etc... I bought Battletech first but I should have bought this one.

EXCELLENT GAME i really particularly enjoy the BIG STOMPY ROBOTS part of the game in all seriousness the base customization combined with the massive modding community and the DLC's all add in to make a hell of a mechwarrior sandbox. i absolutely love it, if you'd prefer a TBS version of the game, the lattest battletech game is basically this but turn based third person. also quite a good game.

Best of the Mechwarrior games, UE4.2 is highly moddable and as a result all the previous game content can be played in MW5 Mercs.

Mediocre Mechwarrior game that really shines with mods. Many mechs were added, some annoying issues fixed, and more levels and gameplay made for it. Desperately needed graphics improvement also added if your machine can take it.

I have over 400 hours in this game, this is the ONE game i keep coming back to because it's what i play to relax. Mod it with YAML and you got unlimited time to play. It's janky as f*** but it's always a good time. If i'm binging a show i'm also playing this to keep my brain engaged.

The game was fun for a bit, but it lacks level variety which made me lose interest. I didn't finish the base campaign.

if there was a meh option for recommending this game I would infact chose that instead, they lock half of everything cool behind dlc's the game is repetitive and boring. but the gods of modding make the game better. if you want a good mech fighting game then this is it, but expect to get bored fast with out mods.

This game is awesome on many levels and supports easy-to-install mods. So what's my problem? Mission design. Admittedly the other mech games (even the strategy ones) have this problem -- I don't want to fight armies of enemies until I'm falling apart. The matches, if they had been even, are satisfying. But then comes round 2, round 3, round 4, and suddenly you're underwater on the finances of the mission, if not dead. Pssst -- the word "Mercenaries" is in the name of the game. I don't know if you know this, but mercenaries like to fight where the odds are on their side -- they don't like dying for someone's country. I really wish there was a way to de-scale the mission challenges. It's too much, and makes me ragequit and not buy anymore of this product. Instead I look at other people's games not based on weird lore or RPG game rules that were trying to simulate reality. We have better tools now.

Visually, MechWarrior 5 is impressive. The mechs look great, the environments are appealing, and the battles have a cinematic feel that makes piloting a giant machine genuinely satisfying. Unfortunately, the gameplay doesn’t live up to the visuals. Mission variety is severely lacking — there are basically three mission types that repeat over and over, which quickly makes the experience feel stale. The map design is also disappointing. In single-player, every map feels like a multiplayer arena repurposed for the campaign. This completely breaks immersion. Instead of feeling like I’m progressing through a story-rich world, it feels like I’m just fighting waves of bots in a closed arena again and again. There’s potential here, but it’s buried under repetitive structure and uninspired level design. I am a big fan of MW 3 and 4. And fifth part really lacks something to have fun.

if you never played Battletech anything this is fine it's not great I highly recommend 4 mods. Mod options Drop Fees Remove Jumpship animation Better Mission Choices IF you have played Battletech then the above are just the start of the mods you need head to nexus and grab all the stuff this game does not have trust me it is quilt a lot. It is as if the developers NEVER played table top Battletech , then never played any video game that had Battletech in it. it is really strange like your going to need about 100 mods to make feel close to a Battletech game. That is what I'm doing to play the game. I have mecha that looks classic Battletech you know from the 90 table top era. I streamlined that whole nonsense of money to being basic and not annoying. "Who in there right mind thought being accountant was the height of FUN is programmer who was never invited to play Battletech is who." Lets play Battletech with big death dealing robots of hate and madness on a crazy battlefield in the future. No I have better idea let them worry about every dam cent of money in that ammo they just fired! now the last mod is up to you it is hard one to use but it does make the game feel better. Damage is damage you see the programmers did not know how to achieve goal in story telling while your playing. SO they created the anti damage buff for each and every N.P.C. pilot Green 5%, Regular 10%, Veteran 25%, Elite and Adran Sortek 40%, Boss 50%, Bounty Hunter 65%. These are all now 0% thanks to mod damage is damage. the whole point getting bigger and better weapons that have huge draw backs like over heating was that it was stopping power. making the Mecha pilot really think what the heck they where doing in the first place. This game left in the whole over heating aspect part with grace of nine year old kid who has heard of over heating but then forgets the whole environmental of each world MIGHT play a roll in that LOL. SO yeah I do recommend the game .... WITH MODS and then if played anything Battletech A heck of lot more mods!

There is something extra lazy about a developer who makes a game which is traditionally best playing on a joystick setup, but has extremely limited joystick compatibility. If you don't have one of the less than 10 specific joysticks they "supposedly" have native support, you have to go in and do your own coding to make yours work. There's no good reason I should have to remap everything in the configuration file for a Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS One, when they claim to have native support for the HOTAS X and the T.Flight 1600M. It's worse than grocery stores making you scan our yourself. They're just offloading their job onto the purchaser, and there's no good excuse. Trash.

Pros - Good game, love the sandbox version vs clans where its a storyline. Loved all the Mechwarrior games and this one does not disappoint. If you use the YAML mods it gets better. Cons - Less mechs to use. This game is before the Clan invasion of 3150, so only inner sphere mechs.

"Tiny mech, massive bass — and somehow we still win." Picture this: you're in a Locust (‘cause why not?), dancing your way through battlefield scrap metal as thumping EDM blasts through your cockpit speakers — and yes, that turret does bob to the beat. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries coop is all about explosions, teamwork, and the satisfying weight of a laser barrage. But add an entire rave in your headspace? Instant chaos. You’ll jump over tanks, weave through artillery, and shrug off incoming missiles like they’re bad parking spots — all while your brain is mid-set. The gameplay? Deep, slick, and packed with replayability. Customizing your Locust for speed and firepower, coordinating flank attacks with buddies, and hearing that bass drop just as you nail a critical hit — chef’s kiss. Pros: Locust mechs are nimble enough to dodge bad ideas… and missiles. Fully voice‑acted missions keep the story moving (and your mech moods relevant). Armada of weapons + EDM soundtrack = insane synergy. Coop lets you dive into mayhem with friends who appreciate your weird beats. Cons: One wrong step and your little Locust becomes ground beef. Occasionally you’ll have to turn the bass down so you can hear the battle music. You might become that guy: “Wait, was that quake or another drop?” 9.5/10 — would dance‑dodge dual PPCs mid-drop again. Locust + EDM + explosions = pure mercenary madness.
