Yeah it's one of those games with piss filter but its good one

Rating: 8/10
If you like open world games like Wildlands but with lots of environmental destruction, you will probably like this one too. It's very fast paced action game with just ok story. Game surely looks extremely dated now but if you are on classic spree, then I can recommend this game right now. Just turn off Decal in graphics to avoid crash. By the way, this game was wild physics especially gravity lol

Don't buy it. The launch problem is real and you will not be able to launch it anymore.

I played this game years ago when I was a kid but never finished it. I thought I should give it another try Just Cause I loved it back then—and now that I’ve finished it, I can say it's one of the best action games I’ve ever played. It still holds up today, and Rico is as badass as ever. If you want to have a blast, cause chaos, and enjoy doing wild stunts, this game is absolutely worth playing.

Its a Crash Fest. Just Crash 2 - OCD Simulator. If you are here after finishing Just Cause 1 then i would say its a better upgrade in every possible way. Combat, Game play and Story were great. I would have had lot of fun if it weren't crashing too often. There are fixes you can find it online but it will still crash though less frequently. Huge map. You can cause chaos all over the places. Fun for those who likes to turn their brain off and blow things up. 3/5

Super sick game, third person shooter with more than enough explosions and cheesy voice lines. Best in the series in my case
Introduction
Just Cause 2 is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Square Enix. Set in the fictional Southeast Asian island nation of Panau, you play as Rico Rodriguez, an Agency agent who arrives on the island to overthrow its dictator, Pandak Panay, and confront his former mentor, Sheldon.
Pros

Good graphics for a game of its time.
A large variety of weapons and vehicles to use.
Tons of stuff to blow up!
The explosions are satisfying, especially the sound.
The grappling hook and parachute are fun ways to get around. They're much more useful than in the previous game.

Cons

Forgettable story.
The map is too big, and most of it looks the same. While it's an improvement over the previous game, it's still not great.
It becomes repetitive very quickly.
Quick-time events for hijacking vehicles and hacking terminals.
Way too many collectibles. Even worse, they're tied to upgrades.

Conclusion
Just Cause 2 is a true sequel to what was, in my opinion, a bad game, improving on everything from the previous game. Although not perfect, it's fun and it sets itself apart from other games of the same type.

For starters, way better than Just Cause 1, I feel like here is when Just Cause really having their uniqueness. When I started the game I hated how slow and clunky the MC moves, but after playing for a while, the movement started making sense, the grappling hook aiming really needs some improvement, but the;s just me comparing this game to JC3 in mechanics which is not fair... what matters the most is that the game was fun and it really does have a lot of content, but the missions despite being fast, I can see how they can be a bit repetitive...

it's all the fun of regime change with none of the consequences one of those games where admittedly it feels a bit like it's held together by tape and prayer, but the movement and rampant explosions are just too much fun to be bothered by that make sure to do your homework on what graphics settings you're recommended to turn off, and potentially look at capping the frame rate somehow, as the physics bugs out a fair bit going over 60fps, and crashes aren't out of the realm of possibility

One of the most destructive open worlds where the combat and chaos somehow still holds up.

Let me first state that this game is fantastic. While I honestly prefer Just Cause 3, this is still a very solid experience from start to finish. Unfortunately... Windows 11 updates have completely screwed this game over. This game's PC port is a little bit notorious for not being very good, with issues retaining to crashing, objective flags not being set properly so the game thinks you're still on the first mission at ALL times "Time to meet the criminal factions and make some new best friends.", and a bit of framerate malarkey. Now however, thanks to Windows updates, this game refuses to launch. It doesn't matter if you reinstall the game, install it to another drive or an SSD, verify the files, everything. It will NOT launch no matter what you do. This is a plea for Avalanche Studios. PLEASE either release a patch for this game to make it work with Windows 11, or develop a remaster that fixes these issues. This is a fan favourite game, and it's sad to see it slowly die out like this.

can mindlessly play for hours....400 lol...very easy dynamics and fun driving, diving gliding flying and ziplineing through a openworld. Piss off the criminals or military or the cops, you choose!

A great Improvement and a jump in all aspects from the first, the destruction can get a bit repetitive if you attempt to do everything

There's so much content, and while much of it is a little repetitive the core shooting, grappling, traversing, mechanics are endlessly fun. Parachute around a beautiful Island, blow stuff up, turn your brain off to the story because it makes no sense, and have a great time. A huge improvement over Just Cause 1 - the mission variety is a lot higher and the grapple/parachute combo is such an enjoyable way to get around that you never feel like you are stranded somewhere. Another great feature is the game autosaves as you dismantle the infrastructure at bases, so if you die you don't lose very much progress.

A game that truly pushed the envelope for open world games. This is a destruction sandbox with some narrative tacked on to pull your focus around the map and to its incredible set pieces. It's brainless, chaotic fun. The gameplay and graphics still hold up pretty well! If you were for some reason itching to play a game where you play as some mix between Batman and Punisher, this game is for you.

9/10 Have it on xbox decided to buy it on my thinkpad to kill my time for the season and it plays smoothly its fun with the best combat mechanics of the franchise (just cause 3 improved the destruction mechanic though) and the only reason it gets a 9 out of 10 is because if you decide to buy the add-on packs youll probably pay more than you payed for the game itself (i bought it for 1.50 euro on a discount )

The gameplay can be quite repetitive, but there are moments of fun. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the game because it crashed today and hasn't launched since. I've tried reverting graphics drivers, setting compatibility modes, and more, but now it only displays a white screen for a second before closing.

This is the best Just Cause game and the singleplayer game I've played the most. It may be a little dated now, both in terms of graphics and the effort required to get it to run without crashes, but it's well worth the effort. I played this game after playing JC3, and at first I didn't understand it. JC3 added a lot of polish and is definitely easier to play, but I'd still choose to play this one. There's something about how fast the game loads, how effortless it is to run on a modern PC, and how relaxing it is to explore the detailed world of Panau. This game has a much better map than the one note world of Medici. JC3 has a beautiful world, but it's only skin deep. JC2 took the time to add a gamut of environments, from villages and towns to cities and ports. To those coming from Just Cause 3: give this one a chance...or a few. I thought the game made no sense and felt out of place, coming from JC3. But when I revisited the game again, I fell in love with the detail and the variety that this game offers, to the point that I'd trade my wingsuit and jetpack for the small details and easter eggs offered here. Think of how many distinct places you can recall from JC3. I can think of maybe five places that were truly distinct in that game. There's far more unique places in Panau, from the ski resort and capital city, to the military base with the gondola system and the rocket silo. All for a couple dollars on sale.

"GTA clone" was a term that once got thrown around excessively at any open world shooty action game with car stealing, but from the Heat system to starting missions from finding the local payphone analogue, Just Cause 2 is very heavily more GTA than Mercenaries. It is impossible for me to not compare it to its closest peer and competitor from the year prior, 2008's Mercenaries 2. Both games feature a lush tropical local with factions to play around with as you blow up half the country in an action playground. You even get an assortment of oil rigs to destroy in both. Except not really, destruction is primarily limited to red-covered CHAOS objects - fuel tanks, electrical boxes, antenna arrays, water toys, and the like - necessary targets in missions and freeplay. But Just Cause 2 is a lot like its map. It's beautiful, expansive, and there is a whole lot to do, but you start feeling empty for it. While the expansive map is filled out with villages and bases dotted everywhere, each with dozens of CHAOS objects to destroy and collectable objects to find, you find it all to be so many that you don't really actually care after the initial buzz wears off. Likewise you start to notice, very painfully, that mission checkpoints can be inconsistently distributed with some missions sensibly spreading them out and others frustratingly barren in them. You'll start noticing, very painfully, that enemy helicopters can shoot straight down from their core in defiance of the orientation of their rocket pods, or that heavily armoured vehicles are made of papier mache the moment you climb into one. It can be a fun sandbox for racing around Panau or mindlessly blowing up CHAOS objects, but it won't engage you enough to drive you to think "I want to finish off this map". You can't. There's a reason 100%ing the map only asks for 70%ing it. While many would say "you don't play Just Cause for the story", it is there and it does serve an important function in pacing your experience through the game. Generally you blow CHAOS objects up enough to unlock the next Agency and faction missions, repeat, with Agency missions being the main story of the game. With the world as dense as it is with CHAOS objects, you can feasibly break the pacing without even trying if you don't buffer your time with faction missions. Except factions might as well be side content with how little they impact the actual game. They are *there*, and they give you missions, but the "final" choice at the end as to who you support might as well not be a choice at all, for the non-impact it has. It's not like it'd be necessary to go Fallout slides with the ending, but it'd be nice if the choice actually was. In the end Just Cause 2 is fine as a sandbox of destruction and there will be moments in mission and outside that you will enjoy. The fact that so much map was fit into the game in 2009, with an actual admirable diversity of environments that were lovingly crafted, is impressive, but it can become too much of a good thing and would have benefited from a tighter focus and stronger refinement of the toys it offers you.

Just Cause 2 is basically GTA in SE Asia. Drive/fly/grapple hook around and blow stuff up. Shoot the never-ending stream of bad guys. I was able to complete the main story line while only helping one faction (out of three), but it involved a lot of running around looking for shiny boxes. I won't bother with the other factions. But if you like cars/boats/planes/helicopters and guns and blowing stuff up, you might like this one. Edit: There were also some unintentionally funny moments, like when I dropped a helicopter on a Colonel. Total play time was around 25 hours I think.
