Elite Dangerous: Odyssey

Existing negative reviews are important in the context of Elite: Dangerous's overall development and former promises, but this expansion is definitely a worthy addition to the base game at the price at which it's offered, and *especially* on sale.

the dlc is good now it just lauched really bad state, it adds a lot more than just ground combat so its well worth it

solo this dlc works fine and everything, co op with others its the most rancid garbage inmaginable, shits desyncing every 5 seconds, throwing you out to the main menu etc, unplayable, solo it runs smooth and works fine but gets boring fast.

Despite my long playing time with Odyssey, I've held back on writing a review until now. I personally love the gameplay that Odyssey adds and love the worlds it allows you to visit. However, anyone expecting strong FPS gameplay or gameplay in general that you don't have to search for yourself will probably be disappointed here. For my taste it's great! Well worth the 15 euros, but only if your PC can handle it. I would really like to see more content for Odyssey in general in updates.

I can only say that this dlc got better with time. On release it was a big dissappointment but all issues are fixed. There are still a lot of promises that frontier did not keep (Ship interiors etc) But from my perspective its fine

Whoever decided it was a good idea to replace the default intro that gives you your sidewinder should probably be fired

Odyssey is the DLC for the legendary masterpiece, Elite Dangerous, that brings on-foot activities to the game. It was broken and buggy on its rough launch, but now it's a must-have. All game-breaking issues have been fixed, many improvements have been implemented, and now it opens up the game to whole new experiences and adventures, from combat to exploration to exobiology... Make sure to own and play Elite Dangerous with Odyssey, I can't recommend it enough.

The DLC is great — finally being able to get out of your ship and walk around is a big deal. But 🍑 many missions that take place in bases are frustrating. Fighting your way through is often impossible, since there's always a whole army coming after you. Stealth is the only real option, but it mostly comes down to luck. I think the procedural generation could use some tweaking, but 🍑 I suppose they can’t really do that due to backward compatibility issues. Also, most of these missions just don’t pay well enough. It’s a balancing issue: either make base missions easier, or increase the payout. Honestly, the rewards should probably be higher either way. Overall, base missions have a lot of potential, but 🍑 they still need work.

Cant recommend this DLC. The quality of it just doesn't compare to the base game / horizons. Perfomance on ground missions is bad, gunplay worse. I bought it for 8 bucks 4 years after release, and I gotta say its barely worth it. Besides that Elite is still fun and from time to time a beautiful game. I recommend the base game though, the quality of it is way higher (get Odyssey if u like the base gameplay loops).

Don't buy this game, it is great when it works. I cannot run it, Frontier support is useless. I press play on the launcher, the game doesn't start, and then the play button reappears. Don't buy until Frontier fixes this.

I don't get the hate. I would not play Elite without this dlc.
