Take2Games/2K EULA agreement: we grant you a limited,(blabla), license to access and use the Services. The Services are, (blabla), licensed, not sold. This license does not give you any ownership rights. We reserve the right to modify this Agreement. Me playing the same word games: If purchasing isn't owning the game, then piracy isn't theft. Steam sell the game for money. I pay money to own the game / product. It's called a purchase / transaction. I didn't pay for a service and you can't change the meaning of ownership, sale, purchase with your bs word salad. Did Ubisoft teach you that? Also, if you can modify agreement, then it's not an agreement since it's not set in stone. You guys are dirty.

Man, i have some mixed feelings about this game. To begin with, it is called a definitive edition, which should mean that if there are any bugs, graphical or audio issues, should have been fixed, however, the classic Mafia 2 is more polished and clean off bugs than this. I have gone through most cut-scenes without any music or sound, for some weird reason it was off. There were times when both Vito and Joe would talk over each other and i could not understand a thing or one of the characters would repeat a sentences 5 times while another was talking normally over the 1st character. Besides that, the combat felt annoying, but not because the gun-play or fist fighting was bad, it was actually fantastic, but the amount of health i have is just too low. I get it, the devs were aiming for the game to be more realistic, but 1 or 2 bullets and i was dead. That sort of realism is great from the beginning, but it gets to a point where it is just frustrating. There were not any visual bugs, at least not any i can recall. Now, the main part, the story and the characters. I will not lie, the game feels a lot like the first. last two chapters were kind of predictable, because it is that similar to Mafia 1. I knew what and how it would end and to my absolute no surprise it ended exactly like that. Overall the story is rather simple, it follows the main character Vito, who used to be an ordinary kid, but because of his father and a mischievous friend Joe, he became obsessed with money, women and material wealth in general and that lead him to cause trouble to himself. I like Vito, i really do, but despite all the praise he gets, i think Tommy from Mafia 1 was better, not only as a character, but also as a guy who was trying to get out of the struggles he faced. I really liked how the story was told in the first game, although it was rather difficult to understand from the beginning, it gave me an unique view at the end. To concluding what i am saying, this is a good game with many flaws (notable audio), good character development, good gameplay, but if compared to Mafia 1, Mafia 1 takes the cake. I just felt more connected to Tommy and other people, here Henry was great, but he disappeared at once then came back like 10 chapters after, Joe was okay, but he was predictable often times. Anyway, i will not stretch it any further. Play it yourself, everyone seems to love it and i m probably the only one who simply just liked it. Actually, lastly, i have to mention this. The game has this weird cult like following, where if you disagree with them and say that "i did not really like that game as much you did' then apparently you have no taste in games or you are a clown for not liking it and i kind of get it, but it simply was not as good as you guys make it out to be, it is good / okay

Absolute masterpiece. One of the top 3 video games of all time. I've played it at least a dozen times, and I'll play it another dozen. Everything in it is top notch. Never gets old. The only issue is that the 'Definitive Edition' is the inferior way to play it. it's full of bugs with no added benefits.

This is Uber + manual labor simulator. the checkpoint system is garbage. You can die at the very end of a mission and it throws you all the way back to the start-no checkpoints But that's not even the worst part. driving back and forth for 15 minutes, picking up crates like a broke worker, or selling stolen cigarettes instead of, you know, doing actual mafia stuff. And then there's Joe, acting like we're in the criminal underworld while we're literally loading cargo like it's a summer job.

1st hour in and let me tell you - I'm hooked. It's like reliving the nostalgia of playing GTA 3 (with Mafia vibes) all over again. It's refreshing to play this type of game in 2025. Considering the original game was released 2010, it was that ahead during its generation Only downside is it's playable only up to 1080p, but understandable. Enjoying so far

Where to even start with this cash grab? The graphics are basically the same as the "classic" edition. The major soft locking glitch near the end of the story is still in the game. The gunplay is still trash. Why even make a "Definitive Edition" when there is no major fixes or at the very least better graphics. Please for the love of god DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. When this edition first came out, there were a lot of complaints. And here we are a while later and it feels like nothing was done. Pathetic and the people who pushed this game out should feel ashamed of themselves.

Why did you f*cks even bother to make a definitive edition? you cant even fix the damn thing after so many years, bunch of fools wanna be dumba*ses, shit is full of endless bugs and craps. we make mafia 1 definitive edition and completely remake it and make it an awesome but what we do with the mafia 2? just add bunch of filters and ruin the perfectly good game, if you didnt wanted to give the efforts then why even bother just let people play the original mafia 2, bunch of f*ckers.

I've bought the whole trilogy because I didn't ever played Definitive editions and the 3d part too. The 1st game is made fine - the graphics, the secrets. it was a pleasure to play. Then i installed the 2nd part. And it is just horrible. I don't see any changes in graphics. But it's not the worst. I can't choose my language. And where is no savings! I played a bit then quit. After I returded I needed to start from the very 1st chapter. Terrrible thing.

Great story and great gameplay. The original MAFIA2 I highly recommend, but not this version. The reason I do not recommend it is because this Definitive Edition contains online connectivity and constantly tries to trick you to agree to shitty ToS for data acquisiton. You go to the menu and suddenly you get a popup with the ToS with the selection already on "I agree" and if you are not careful and press the button, you immeditely agree to it... Also both DLCs suck. Very lazy missions, with poor story telling and mechanics overall.

great game, but you might as well just play the original and install some mods to make it look slightly better. since that is all the devs felt like doing for this "definitive edition" might as well rename it to "we needed a reason to change players 40 dollars for this, and did the bare minimum work required." but that doesn't roll of the tongue that nicely. if you can look past the controls that feel dated, the shooting and movement being the standout here. it's a really good game, get it when it's on sale. since i can only rate it yes or no, for the current price, it's sadly a no. if it's like five bucks, it's worth the money.

Not sure what the big fuss is about. The game's fine. I finished it. It's looks a bit better than Mafia 2 in my opinion and I finished Mafia 2 Original about 4 or 5 times around the time it released. Although one of the last scenes has a weird eye bug that's not in the original. Honestly, its more like a reshade than anything...not really a remaster or whatever. I recommend it because it's Mafia 2 at the end of the day.

extremely fun, extremely piss-poor "remaster" as well; slightly improved graphics, some more collectables, some free cars in your garages at the exchange of like 40 more gigs than the original, completely unfixed bugs that on occasion might even force you to start entire chapters over again, and generally just...subpar optimisation 5/10, still fun to just sink hours into like I have, and probably will continue to, for those DLC achievements. But it's also a very very frustrating game at times, and undeserving of calling itself a "definitive" version the way I believe M1DE can. Buy it on sale, or in the 3 game bundle, not worth it on its own

I haven't finished the game yet, but I already hate it. In a few quests, I parked my fully upgraded cars in front of the quest locations either to initiate or to conclude the missions. However, after the story cut scenes in those quests, the Dev just removes my cars from the game like they never exists. That is, whatever cars you drive in those quests will always be removed from the game. And, as the game saves automatically at the cut scenes and it only keeps a single save file, whatever happened before the cut scene (i.e., driving an expensive car to do the quest) is finalized and cannot be changed via loading the saved game. I'm not certain whether it is a bug or the game is designed in this way intentionally; nonetheless I'm really mad at this terrible mechanism because one of my missing cars is an ISW 508, which is the 2nd best car in the game! In some other quests, on the other hand, we players need to escape from the police by outrunning them with our cars. If you don't bring a fast car with you, then it will take you much longer time to shake the police off your tail. There are also some timed missions in which you must visit multiple quest locations within a limited period of time. Therefore, if you don't drive a good car to the quest locations in these quests, you may need to redo the quest several times until your beat the count down. The problem is, how the hell do I know whether I should bring a junk car or a fast car to a mission? It's so annoying. Additionally, in yet another main quest, the player is forced to melee a criminal with just the fist. The Dev gives the player a fake feeling that the opponent can be defeated, just like in the other melee combats. Nonetheless, in that particular quest, after the player lands a few heavy punches on the opponent and puts him down on the ground, the opponent will become invincible after he stands up and starts to interrupt the player's every attack with count-attacks. It took me several trials until I realize that my attacks have been rendered useless in the middle of the fight. Any quest like this is a complete waste of time, and it really pissed me off. If something is impossible to do, then why fool the players and make it looks like doable? Mafia II could be a great game; unfortunately it is ruined by a lousy developer.

Game is very buggy and full of glitches and fps drops due to poor optimization. Driving and missions can get boring and repetitive and you may get worn out. But its a mafia game and the story is still pretty good, atmosphere, characters, setting, cars, outfits, they all are pretty cool. Buy when its on discount.

Like I always do, I always finish or at least try to complete everything this game has to offer before I give my thoughts. Story: The narrative of this game is very engaging and entertaining. You will always look forward for the next cutscene and what comes next for Vito and Joe but mind you, it is slow at the first few chapters, still, I couldn't recommend it enough. Graphics: For a definitive edition, it is a massive letdown because there is barely an improvement from the original Mafia II. However, this game does not suffer from any ghosting issues Mafia I: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition suffer from which is great. Still, the graphics, though dated, still managed to convey the emotion the authors of this game wants to imply and they did so amazingly. Gameplay: IT SUCKS. THE DRIVING SUCKS. THE GUNPLAY SUCKS. THE AI? DUMB ASF! THE ACHIEVEMENTS... DEAR LORD I DON'T EVEN WANNA TALK ABOUT IT. IT JUST SUCKS. I mean, I wouldn't go far as to say it sucks so bad, but it lies between suck and mid. Maybe I should give this game a break, after all it's an old game. Secrets/Collectibles: It's on a wheelchair from constant beating... totally worth collecting. DLC: For those who dare to attempt to achieve all achievements in this game... goodluck because the DLC here ABSOLUTELY F**KING SUCKS. There isn't even a story that is worth following to warn about spoilers! ALSO, THE AI OF THE DLCS ARE ABSOLUTELY STACKED AND CAN ONE-SHOT YOU WITHOUT EVEN AIMING THEIR DAMN GUN. IT JUST SUCKS, THE ARCADE MECHANIC JUST SCREAMS RAGE-BAIT AND I DON'T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT JIMMY'S RAGE-BAIT VENDETTA ACHIEVEMENTS. Still, lovely achievements to get, if you consider wanting to smash your head into your monitor because of the constant defeat and stupidity of the AI as an adventurous experience. Summary: I highly recommend this game to those casual players who wants to follow the story of the Mafia series. Honestly, the story just hit the spot so I recommend you bring some snacks and watch it all unfold. However, the achievements are a chore to achieve but may be worth it if you actually have friends who care about achievements and you can boast upon. In my case, I don't, and what I did to achieve those achievements, was not worth it at all. I rate this game a solid 7/10, I couldn't recommend the story enough.

Mafia II – A Gritty, Stylish Ride Through the American Dream Gone Wrong Mafia II often gets overshadowed by other open-world games of its era, but if you go in for what it truly offers — a narrative-driven experience — it absolutely shines. It’s not the biggest game, it’s not the most expansive sandbox, but as a story-driven crime drama, it delivers in spades. At the heart of it all is Vito Scaletta, one of the more grounded and relatable protagonists in this genre. He’s a typical mafia movie archetype, sure — lower-class kid chasing the American Dream the only way he knows how — but he never comes off as a stereotype. Vito feels human, and his journey is believable. You understand why he makes the choices he does, and that keeps you invested. Gunplay is solid, if not exceptional. It’s competent and gets the job done. You won’t find the same level of tight mechanics seen in modern shooters, but there’s still a nice weight and impact to the combat that keeps firefights fun. The story is the game’s biggest strength. It’s not some sprawling, high-concept epic — it’s a classic rise-and-fall tale done right. And it works very well because it leans into those familiar beats with sincerity and excellent pacing. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, and it hits the emotional notes it needs to. Side characters help elevate the experience too. Joe Barbaro deserves a special shout — we all need a Joe in our lives, at least when it comes to loyalty (though maybe not when it comes to life choices). His dynamic with Vito is one of the highlights of the story. Other side characters also add flavor and authenticity to the world without feeling forced. Now let’s talk about music — it’s top tier. From Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, Sam Butera, Bo Diddley, Dean Martin, and more — the soundtrack is straight serotonin. It perfectly captures the era and mood, and I guarantee it’ll introduce you to some tunes you’d never thought you’d be driving to with a Tommy gun in the trunk. Driving is also well-handled. The option to switch between simulation-style and arcade-style driving is a smart design choice, catering to both players who want realism and those who just want to have fun burning through the streets of Empire Bay. Both modes feel satisfying in their own right. Final Verdict: Mafia II isn’t about sprawling side content or open-world distractions — it’s about delivering a tight, focused crime story with great atmosphere, solid gameplay, and a killer soundtrack. While its gunplay is merely solid and its world isn’t the most interactive, the narrative and vibe carry it a long way. If you approach it for what it is — a story-first experience — you’ll have a great time. Rating: 8.5/10 — A stylish, heartfelt mob story that still holds up. Play it for the characters, the music, and the ride — not for the sandbox.

Honestly after playing mafia definitive edition, I was a little upset at first, but I have to say the story for mafia 2 was good. And I hate to say that I like Vito a little bit more than Tommy, don't get me wrong. Tommy's story was awesome. But there was something about Vito that just made it so much better, and I do I like a lot of the characters in this game and the more old school graphics have its charm, honestly and I would love to see this in a remastered version overall 9/10 for me

I really love the story; it's truly enjoyable to follow. The plot and pacing go up and down in a good way. Every action Vito takes really reflects a youthful spirit. Personally, I prefer Vito's character development over Tommy's in the previous game. Vito left a strong impression on me. And having a best friend like Joe—it's absolutely hilarious.

Terrible optimization for PC. The stuttering while driving is unacceptable.

Shoddy performance aside, I was very, very close to giving this game the thumbs down, but the final moments changed my mind. You still should keep your expectation in check tho.

A remaster should make the game better not worst I am deeply disappointed

The game is good enough. There are a few bugs here and there, but nothing game breaking. The gameplay is decent, but man the story. The story ain't that good. Especially the ending, Even though the events are connected, they feel disconnected. It's aight 6.5/10

Nice game, good story, great shooting, great driving, enjoyed the game overall, at the point that i played in medium difficult and then played again in hard difficult. The down point for me its the fact that the game dont got an "openworld" or the possibility to walk around and explore things around. Basicly after you finish the game, if you want to walk on the world and do stuff around, you have to go back to last chapter run away from the mission of the main story, and when you go off, you lose everything you have done in the meanwhile. You should be able to log on the game after the finish and do whatever you want in the game, walking around, stealing cars, etc... being able to save by returning to your home and your bed for example. Just my opinion, but great game!

The story was incredible. The gun play is very different from the first game and is very punishing if you just run into a gun fight. Driving mechanics are fun and you lose grip in the rain. the way they tie the original into this game as well during the story was awesome my jaw hit the floor man. What a time to revisit these games before the next big release.

This version of the game is much prettier and sharper than the original, however it is also much more unstable, glitchy and sometimes downright broken so i highly recommend playing a classic version instead of this, you will have a much better experience

Mafia 1 was a good game, solid story, everything rounded up. The final ending scene was
sad, unfortunate, not happy
however it was a great story in and of itself, amazing characters, really felt complete when finishing the game, like experiencing an amazing movie you starred in. Mafia 2 has good elements and bad elements. I experienced the DE of Mafia 1, so I'm sure Mafia 2 DE is an improvement over the classic mafia 1 in terms of gameplay, a little step backwards vs. the DE though. The open world is a LOT better in my opinion, the characters I didn't care for at first but they grew on me, there were quite some left hooks in there
like the protagonist going to prison, honestly didn't expect that, however important it was
and of course, the camaraderie between Joe and Vito. Less of a connection than with Tommy but still, I appreciated what was going on. So I'm recommending this game due to the points above, but the ending of this game, to be fair, is absolute dogshit. It's not concluding of a character's story like in Mafia 1, I've seen spoilers of Mafia 3 where there is a small resolve but not sufficient, in my opinion, seeing some of the shit they pulled should deserve them of more than where they are today. People say Mafia 2 is the best of the series, I beg to differ - the first one shines through, this one is still great just less so. Mafia 3 will be up but I'll take a small break from this series first

I have heard people say this game is bad but i honestly disagree. The story mode is good the only things i don't like are the fighting. I don't know it just feels weird.

Remaster is a joke if you hope to see a transformed and modernized version for 2020 standard,as the graphics of the game cannot even outshine gta5(released in 2013 in case you don't know). In addition, shooting and driving of the game work like shit. Nevertheless, the content remains rich and the plot is still of high level.Characters are well depicted with distinct and charming personalities. If I were to compare,I'd say the plot resembles Mafia 1,about loyalty, friendship, betrayal, etc. On the whole, despite poor experience of shooting and driving, the game still deserves a decent score for its excellent story, and you are highly recommended to have a go at it provided that you are a fan of Mafia 1 :)

For me Mafia II is the best entry in the series, thanks to its gripping main story filled with action and drama. While the remaster brought updated visuals, it had buggy textures. Unfortunately, the DLC content feels mediocre at best.
