I played the original TWEWY like 15 years ago & I kinda wish I had replayed it to get into this one, but I had a good time. The story is a lil' convoluted but, as any JRPG enthusiast, I am very good at suspending my disbelief and then it's just a great continuation of the original. Which was probably also very convoluted but obviously I don't remember. Good soundtrack, very fun & chaotic gameplay (that can also be very strategic if you let it!), and a lovely story. And the writing is very dorky, but honestly? Why not. If you wrote down how people talked IRL for a day, you'd find that a lot of people are quite dorky. The world ends with you, but the dork begins with all of us. I felt immersed.

As a huge fan of the original TWEWY, it was great to revisit Shibuya in this unexpected sequel. While the pacing can feel a bit off at times, I really enjoyed my time with this one. Great game, definitely recommend.

I 100% recommend NEO: TWEWY!! The art style of the game is unique, I enjoy that it incorporates an animated style with the 3d gameplay. The game can be played on it's own without prior knowledge of its predecessor TWEWY; though I've heard that the impact of certain scenes can be lessened without knowing the lore of the first game. The game mechanics are interesting and unique, and the abundance of modifications you can use to make gameplay harder or easier are also great if you're struggling with the game or finding it too easy. I highly recommend the game to anyone who likes story driven games or games where you can reach 100% completion by doing extra tasks and collecting different items. NEO: TWEWY is definitely in my top 5 games I've ever played :D

It's tough, I find it really hard to recommend this game to people who haven't played the original. Especially this being on steam, you have no real way of experiencing the original story unless you go outta your way to play the Final Remix on switch. If you have played it, definitely pick this up its an amazing sequel with some fun callbacks to the original game. They somehow managed to top themselves on the soundtrack, its awesome and unlike anything in other games. I fell in love with this series when I was like 10 and they went and shadow dropped this absolute banger under my nose a couple years ago. The story's super unique and the characters are awesome. Some pretty sweet upgrades in this one that the original didn't have, the combat system in this takes a little bit of getting used to but once you get it you just go. The bomb pins kind of suck lol, if you don't build into having a bomb pin in your deck you'll kind of just drop 3 bombs with one character, and the enemy will kind of just move away from them by the time they explode. It's tough to rack combos consistently with, in short don't use bomb pins if you're trying to fast build combos. Bottom line this game is sick. You should play it just for the soundtrack if nothing else, it has it's own playlist on my Spotify. I wish they'd bring the original to steam so I can yell at my friends and make them play it all the way through. I also wish they advertised this game better, it didn't deserve the shadow drop it got. I went to Shibuya irl a couple years ago and since I played these games it was surreal to see these places with my own eyes. I'm not even a city person but if there's anywhere I could choose to live in the world it'd be Shibuya. Like I said though it's hard to recommend since its so niche and most probably haven't played the og, but if you're easily persuaded, play Final Remix on switch and then come back here and pick this up, you won't regret it. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, PLAY FINAL REMIX BEFORE PLAYING THIS. YOU ARE ROBBING YOURSELF OF EMOTIONS YOU WOULDN'T HAVE IF YOU DON'T PLAY THE FIRST GAME.
