Sunset Overdrive

I love this game! Although the PC port is pretty buggy compared to console. There's fixes on the community page which require digging into the game files. It doesn't take long, it just isn't very convenient. I would highly recommend attempting these fixes before diving into the game. My first couple hours on PC were fine until I was hit with the "Corrupt File" error, which erased all of my progress on my save. Luckily, this happened pretty early on. If the game is on sale then go for it! Just beware of the issues.

Who knew Insomniac could be cool? Anyway its no wonder Sony tapped them for Spider-man, traversal here is top-notch. don't even want to use the fast travel. That said, you could tell its a 2010's game, in a good way. Underrated tbh

It's essentially what Saints Row should have been! For me it is a hidden gem. It runs well on Steam Deck BTW

The punk aesthetic and perfunctorily anti-corporate vibe that permeates the setting and story is trite, the writing juvenile and feckless, and yet the gameplay loop is just insidiously fun. One of the few times I've bothered to collect all the idiotic collectibles in a game because the process of traversing the world is just that much fun. That said, there were a few minor glitches here and there, mostly with the audio cutting out at bizarre times and one quest glitched and was unable to be finished. The base defense stuff with the traps was garbage and should have been scrapped, you should unlock all the traversal abilities faster, and ammo becomes an issue more often than it should; a lot of the weapons are pretty pointless as well. Still, it's mostly a hoot and a holler.

Bought the game on sale since i remembered playing this game and having fun when I was younger, but the game isn't well optimised for pc. it is a great game and im sure some mods could improve issues but in this state the game needs an update at the very least...

Game keeps corrupting my save file and resetting my progress. when i launched it the first time it told me i had a corrupt save file, i deleted it and then started playing. after an hour or so i tried to save the game and it just crashed to desktop, launched it again and got rolled back 10 minutes, meh doable, tried to save again once i finished a mission and it just crashed and corrupted the save file. Refunding

Feels good to actually play a game thats seriously unserious. The best way I can describe the humor is Rockstar Games but not out-of-touch and actually funny. I don't think I will be able to laugh at a joke in a Rockstar Games game anymore :(

"Style over substance? Maybe. But the substance is still ridiculously fun." Sunset Overdrive wears its punk rebellion and anti-corporate edge like a Halloween costume—loud, messy, and not particularly deep. The humor leans into juvenile territory and often misses, but somehow, none of that really matters once you're in motion. Traversal is where this game absolutely shines. Grinding, bouncing, and air-dashing across the city is so smooth and satisfying that I actually found myself hunting down collectibles just for the joy of moving around. It’s rare for an open world to feel this fluid and kinetic. On the downside: some technical hiccups (occasional audio dropouts, one glitched quest), and the base defense segments are a slog. Ammo balance is off, and several weapons feel like filler. Also, it takes too long to unlock the full traversal toolkit, which is a shame because that’s the game’s real strength. Despite the flaws, it’s loud, chaotic, and genuinely entertaining in a way few games are. A stylish mess—but a fun one.

A true underrated gem! It's a shame that Xbox dropped the ball with this franchise because this is one of the most fun games I have ever played. Sunset city is a vibrant and beautiful sandbox full of character that takes full advantage of the incredible free flowing movement system that is definitely the most enjoyable part of the game not to mention the great combat and weapons that feel like a hybrid of Ratchet and Clank's arsenal and Dead risings combo weapons.

Colorful and fun game. Movement is amazing (it's so good you'll forget there's a fast travel option) and guns are cool. It goes on sale super cheap so do yourself a favour and check it out. Definetely an underrated gem that deserved more and a sequel.

Played this when i was a kid loved it a lot but really puzzled and suprised that it didn't get a sequel cause this game is truly underated. I would certainly recommend when you get a chance to buy and play it!

This game is super underrated and I think it still holds up. The soda zombies and everything about it still holds up well.

One of the biggest praises an open world game can get in my opinion is when the traversal from one point to another is so fun, engaging, fast, seamless, and joyful that you never feel like using the fast travel option (unless you want to make sure that your progress gets saved). Sunset Overdrive does this so well thanks to it's amazing movement and traversal system. The story and the characters were surprisingly good and likeable. The campaign might be short, but none of the story beats overstay their welcome or feel rushed. What really surprised me though was that a game with a comedic tone and tons of 4th wall breaks like this game might've easily felt like "cringe" or as "trying too hard to be funny", but this is where Sunset Overdrive truly shines the most. The tone of the game and it's many meta jokes blends in with the chaos of the story, gameplay, characters and world so well, to create a really fun and unique experience which never feels dull. While the game is highly enjoyable, it is prone to have some minor bugs which can cause crashes and some infuriating glitches, such as your character getting frozen or wall clipping. While the glitches are not really game breaking most of the time, it can ruin your combo and might cause your character to lose health. These issues did hinder my experience a bit but didn't deter me from enjoying the game and having a lot of fun.

really enjoy the humor and gameplay style can play for a while with out really getting bored

i like this game a lot. the movements of this game isn't like any other game (maybe comparing warframe). i wish there was more for this franchise cuz it really is a genre i like. the comedy is kinda funny and i like that it is a bit comic based. this game deserve more love

Good fun gameplay and traversal but it gets repetitive and boring till the end. Last third of the game is also very frustrating to finish but still worth a try for the price it is on sale. Also runs terrible for how it looks especially with a lot of enemies in the final missions.

I played about 10 hours doing most of the side missions and grinding some levels for some guns and got about halfway through the story when a crash I have experienced 3 or 4 times finally corrupted my save file and deleted all of my progress. I will not start over but my time spent in the game was pretty dang good. I wasn't expecting much but the movement combined with the variety of guns just worked. The writing and story are bad on purpose but again, it just ends up working. My one recommendation would be to have multiple save files so that if you do get a crash that deletes it then you'll have a backup. The crash I experienced seemed like it was from navigating the menus too fast and happened at the same place every time; when switching from the log to the player tab. Get on a 75% off sale for $5 or less, it's definitely worth that for a good 10-20 hours.

I mean you need to be in a mood for this game to work it's charm but yeah, creative and fun (dlc's are kinda too much)

Sunset Overdrive feels like a combination of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Saints Row: The Third, and a boom shooter. The tone is not serious and the movement is extremely satisfying. I spent most of my time aimlessly looking for collectibles. Even though there's fast travel, I simply trekked across the entire map, because the moveset is so much fun to use. Unfortunately, I did encounter some bugs. A few times the game crashed, but when I returned, I was exactly where I left off. It didn't happen often, and it certainly didn't spoil the fun. If it weren't for the bugs, Sunset Overdrive would easily be 5/5 stars. As it is, I give 4.5/5 stars. All being said, Sunset Overdrive is a must own, especially when it's on sale.

Freakishly underrated, even if the story can be mediocre, the travel and combat mechanics are stupidly fun, it was a shame this game was released next to such heavy hitters. Definitely a fun game.

So underrated the movement is flawless the shooting is great the weakest part of the game is the boss fights even those are good.

this game is literal dopamine simulator, very simple but immersive combat and VERY punchy weapons, and this games open world is also incredible with so much stuff to do. Sunset overdrive has the writing that borderlands 3 tried to have and failed, this game is absolutely hilarious and is like if borderlands 2 and saints row 3 had a baby. i admire Sunset overdrives willingness to break the 4th wall and perfectly intergrate it with the flow of the writing and overall gameplay loop.

Going back to Sunset Overdrive after not playing it since launch felt strange. I missed Brandon popping up on the billboards. I really enjoy the fresh feeling of Xbox One/Microsoft 2010s Optimism, I cringe at times but I miss this time period every now and then. If you want to have a solid rail grinding time with some silly 2010s cringe mixed in, buy this game. You had to be there to really get the full experience when it came out to truly enjoy the full multi-media push it had.

This game's so much fun. It's not too difficult so you can enjoy killing zombies, focusing on the story and listening to the really funny dialogues. I like being able to customize my character and this game offers so many choices I keep changing. Unfortunately I got my save deleted after a crash. So backup your save files regurlarly. But I still recommend the game big time. Even with the bittersweet taste of not being able to 100% without replaying 20hrs worth of playtime. Get it when it's on sale. Sunset Overdrive is worth the money. I enjoyed my stay. o7

It's a very unique game. The amount of self awareness this game has it's amazing. Well, of course the game is a bit poorly optimized and can crash by simply trying to save.. fortunately the auto save saves the day. Otherwise it's pretty solid

this game needs a part 2 to continue the story even though the game didn't made a lot of money but it did good for it's price it was a game in the wrong year but a good slowly grow on ya

Genuinely such an amazing game. Just sucks that the pc port is so unoptimized and crashed causing my save to corrupt setting me all the way back to the start of the game. If they were to fix the pc port (which I know they wont this game is old as hell) it would be perfect, but until then, if you wanna pick this game up and it's onsale just make sure you back up your saves. Overall, I do reccomend this game. Just sucks that its pc port is horrid.

I love the movement system in the game, and how fluid it feels in with the combat system. That and its just funny as hell.

Ignore Steam stating SteamOS unsupported. I'm playing on ROG Ally 7 with Bazzite (SteamOS). There is a glitch where it keeps telling you that save data is corrupted, but I've yet to have an issue simply continuing. Make duplicate saves just in case, but it runs flawlessly and recognizes input easily and automatically.

Game holds up very nicely! Has a bit of a Saints Row 4 vibe with more focus on movement and wacky guns in that Ratchet and Clank style. I really enjoyed playing through the story, the writing was funny and clever and had me laughing quite a bit with some creative moments and witty comments. The gameplay starts off a bit slow, but as you progress you get better weapons and traversal options that make it quicker and more fun. It does take a while to get used to constantly needing to be moving so you don't get hit while also shooting at stuff, but the game tends to be pretty forgiving. Plenty of customization options and stuff to collect too! I do wish the Overcharge currency was a bit easier to collect, you get a good amount for beating missions for the first time, but outside of that the game is pretty stingy with it and you need a LOT of it if you want to upgrade everything. I wish there was a way to turn extra money and badges into Overcharge because you tend to have a ton of excess of those. The wave-based base defense missions can also be a bit tricky in single player, it would be nice to be able to place a few more traps if you're not in co-op, but that's a bit more nitpicky, they're ultimately manageable. This game goes on sale for like $5, and I'd say it's very much worth that, even if you just play through the missions once like I did and don't go for all the challenges and grinding for upgrades. Works well on Deck after changing 1-2 settings and ignoring the one corrupted save file by using the other 4 instead. Recommended if the gameplay looks fun to you!

Underrated game, so good, you feel the rush and the adrenaline playing this game

This game is more than worth it if its on sale once you get the feel of the movement system it is like crack. It is still an easy to get into game and most of the challenge comes from mastering the movement system, if its your thing it does what it does well really well.

Sunset Overdrive traz um estilo de jogo que já não vemos mais atualmente. É uma experiência única e muito divertida. A história é meio boba, assim como os personagens—não estou dizendo que isso seja algo ruim, pelo contrário: acredito que combine perfeitamente com a proposta do jogo, que é satirizar diversos temas com um humor ácido e descontraído. O protagonista é engraçado, com diversos momentos de quebra da quarta parede, o que, na minha opinião, adiciona um charme especial ao jogo. Ele lembra bastante o Deadpool, porém é um pouco mais pé no chão nas suas atitudes e pensamentos. O jogo é extremamente divertido, tem uma ótima dublagem e uma trilha sonora que provavelmente vai te arrancar boas risadas. Minha única crítica seria quanto à jogabilidade, que começa muito leve e agradável, mas ao longo do tempo acaba ficando repetitiva, o que, admito, me tirou um pouco da experiência. Apesar disso, recomendo fortemente que deem uma chance a Sunset Overdrive. Tenho certeza que vão se divertir muito com essa experiência única e cheia de personalidade.

Mi sa parut cel mai slab joc de la Insomniac pe care l-am jucat, nu mi-a prea placut inca de la inceput, abea abea pe la sfarsit m-a prins putin dar deja era prea tarziu si nu mai avea rost... Are si ceva continuare dupa ce il termini dar nu am mai avut chef de jucat. Bine ca s-au reintors la Playstation dupa jocul asta si nu au mai scos jocuri pentru Xbox... Ca gameplay e o combinatie intre Dead Rising, Saints Row si inFAMOUS, o combinatie haotica si ciudata, sare pe masini, copaci, umbrele etc, ca pe trambulina si se da ca pe skateboard pe cabluri electrice si garduri + alte lucruri fara logica si greu de explicat... O ciudatenie mare, dar totusi ok-ish ca produs final, gameplay-ul. Povestea e o nebunie fara vreo logica, dintr-un simplu om el prinde puteri de nicaieri, stiu ca vrea sa para un erou din benzi desenate, dar nu prea ii iasa. Iar restul personajelor cu care interactionezi sunt usor de uitat, nu au nimic care sa te faca sa vrei sa iti reamintesti de ei/ele, iar dialogurile lor sunt foarte bananele si plictisitoare. Grafica e buna si foarte colorata, harta desii pare mare, te poti duce dintr-un colt al hartii in altul destul de repede, deci nu e asa mare. Per total as fii vrut sa imi placa mai mult, dar pe mine nu m-a prins nebunia din el.

Good: really fun gameplay Bad: cant skip these goddamn fortnite cutscenes imagine playing mario 64 but every 3 minutes the action has to stop and your forced to watch a cutscene and listen to some of the worst dialogue ever produced in human history. That's what this game is. 6/10 (where's the skip button???????)

Gameplay seems like it could be fun, game is stylized well. But it's buggy. I keep having mouse and keyboard controls pop up when using a controller, and some keys on the controller, such as bringing up the weapons wheel, only happen occasionally. In a game requiring tight controls having the controls working against you are a major issue.

Thumbs up to the end of console exclusivity and unlimited fps
