10/10, would recommend, if you enjoy narrative games. This game has turned into such a comfort game for me over the years. I played through it on PS4 initially and I had to experience it again on Steam. I love the design, the very real problems that Mae faces mentally with where she has found herself to be in life, and the little mystery that seems to seep out of the cracks in her hometown upon her return. Overall, a lovely experience that doesn't take long but has left a lasting impression on me.

So healing. Play this if you're feeling a little lost in your 20s because I truly believe that I've found this game at the perfect time in my life. Seriously, it has changed me in so many ways I can't even begin to explain.

Cute game. I am the target age of this game, but this game doesn't hit me like a lot of other people would have it hit. But still, characters are great, i will be doing both routes.

this is my favorite game of all time. i got a tattoo of it (glows in the dark). i've played it through about four times, i could do it four more and each time pick up more lore and richer details about the story and worldbuilding. fell in love with mae's character and the depiction of her life and mental health; avoiding spoilers she has a disorder that you almost never see represented in media that i personally struggle with and it makes me feel so seen. the characters are so engaging and so loveable and so real, the story is hilarious and heartbreaking and tells these relatable yet complex tales of friendship, grief, spirituality, change and stagnancy, and what it means to be home. not to mention the ART & THE MUSIC. i tell everyone i know to play this game. gas.

This game is truly special. The writing is phenomenal, the music is amazing, and the story touches on themes that, for me at least, came at just the right time. Cannot recommend this game enough.

While it's a kind of game that mostly prioritizes story over gameplay and isn't too engaging during the halfway point of the game, The story is pretty good and the last parts of it hits really hard. Overall a pretty good game, but is quite lacking gameplay wise

8/10 even though the game is completely not for me as I have no interest in emotional stuff in games, this was still somehow pretty fun. I recommend this game to people who like story-related games with characters who have some deep lore and complex relationship stuff or smth like that.
Also, no animal racism unfortunately, but as a wise man once said: "If there's no fire to guide my way, then I will start my own."

Felt a little bit disjointed sometimes but the characters were really fun and there was always something to be curious about all the way until the end, would totally recommend this game to anyone that's looking for some really nice calm vibes with a light drizzle of existential horror.

A great, narrative experience. Up there for me with Disco Elysium, Citizen Sleeper and especially Pentiment.
I think that it will be especially dear to folks who come from smaller towns, rural areas who witnessed their community change for the worse thanks to capitalism.
Aside from amazing visual and audio (not just the soundtrack!) presentation, the highlight for me were realistic dialogues. It never felt stiff, forced or cringe for lack of a better world. It is also genuinely funny and heartwarming, but the humor doesn't detract from the narrative depth and meaning.
I'm definitely gonna replay it in a few years, and, like with many good books that I re-read, see how I changed in the meantime.

ENG
Here I am again, wandering the streets of Possum Springs, eavesdropping on passersby's conversations, jumping on the rooftops, getting into places I shouldn't. It doesn't seem like much, but it's interesting.
NITW is the story of our hard life through May's eyes. She's a college dropout with psychological problems who doesn't know what to do next. Our old friends already have their own lives. work, problems. We've got plenty of those, too. Weird, sometimes creepy things are starting to happen in the city. That we have to deal with.
It's also a story about real, strong friendship. About not being afraid of change. About the fact that after the darkest night, dawn is sure to come.
In terms of style and quality of animation, NITW is at the top. The dialogue is very well written. Which is especially impressive considering there is no voice acting in the game. All the characters have personality and feel alive. The soundtrack is great, too. The music fits perfectly into the mood of each location and situation.
Since purchasing it, I have replayed this game quite a few times, with a couple of years in between. Each time feels like the first. Immersing myself in the local atmosphere is incredibly enjoyable. I'm sure this trend will continue.
100% recommend it.

Great story-based game. Speaks on a lot of current themes (mental health, small town values, the costs of development) with a mystery running right through it.

I thought the game was mysterious and fun, but to be honest I found the climax and second act to be disappointing. Basically the "mask off" moments were a bit weak to me, and I couldn't find it in myself as intrigued in the antagonists after the reveal. I can't say for sure what alternative malefactors would've been more interesting, but I was just disappointed with how meh it was. Still worth a play for <$10 for sure.

wow okay that was a lot.
i really liked this game and i will definitely remember it long after playing. the style, sound track, story and characters were really fresh to see in story games like this. my only gripe with this game is that chapter 2 could have been taken out and nothing about the story or moral would have been changed.

Что такое Night in the Woods?
Стоит ли играть в Night in the Woods?

One of my favorite narrative games of all time. I was a Kickstarter backer for this game and played it on PS4 originally. This game tells a beautiful story about a character whose flaws all feel real and natural. The writing in this game I've never experienced since, and don't think I ever will. Every part of this game shows that it was loved by those who made it.
Playing this game is cozy, frightening and emotional. These characters hold a special place in my heart and I'd absolutely recommend anyone who enjoys silly goofy writing that switches to existential dread intermittently. Perfect for anyone who enjoys the small town mystery aesthetic.

I play this every year around autumn, the most comfortable, warm and human experience, Mae is a painfully relatable yet funny protagonist, all of her blunders and struggles really connect to me as a fellow struggling mentally ill queer loser from a run-down nowhere town. its a beautiful pretty and simple game with a fun wacky story and a sprinkling of real gut-punch moments.

If you love story, meaning and depth in your games, get this.
If you love good music, good art, and fun narratives with flawed characters, get this.
If you haven't played this and just watched someone else do it- get it. Play it yourself. It hits different.
I love this game, it's beautiful, harrowing and haunting.

I haven't finished the game yet but I'm loving it so far. The game is cute and full of animals but the characters, the interactions, and the atmosphere all feel authentic in a way other games fail to replicate. I hope the ending isn't going to ruin me!

Kinda hard to say no to this one because the story was relatively decent overall, but the main issue is that it's not much of a game when you are not doing story and side-story-related things, and there is a weird lack of choosing your path when it comes to certain plot points in the game.
Though there are mini-games you can do, they are kinda few and far between and seem to be unevenly distributed between the Beatrice outings and the Gregory outings. My biggest disappointment by far in the gameplay was the dream segments(not including the space squirrel thing since that was just more plot), as they are slow, quite clunky, hard to navigate at times, and are pretty boring. They look very nice, but the trailer seemed to hint that the trippy dreams would be the main source of legitimate gameplay, but this is not very true since most of it boils down to mere fetch quests.
I don't have many problems with the story; sure it does have some weird plot points that make little sense when you really think about them, even within the context of the clearly mentally off main character, and sure it has some "Stick it to society" moments outside of the main characters' commentary that seem weirdly shallow and underdeveloped for the characters that do this, and a few other strange low-quality details, implications and pushes that took me out of the setting, but I found most of the first half of plot enjoyable and down to earth. What I think ruins a lot of it is how little the story seems to change, yeah you have dialogue options and have to choose between hanging out with Beatrice or Gregg, but there seems to be a dire lack of diverging paths in the plot that most would expect from a game like this. Even if it was something really basic, like if you could be mean to friends, they would eventually stop inviting you to go places or not do the ghost hunting quests, but if you're very nice and understanding with them, they hang out/text with you more. Hell, I at least expected to have an ending epilogue write your own story thing like at the beginning of the damn game, where I could decide if I would finish college or not, what job I got, if I moved to a new town/city, etc.
Not to mention the ending sucked badly, as I thought the game would end at the dinner that Mae was gonna have with her parents and learning their reaction to her reasoning for why she left school, but no, it ended right before the band even played, no final jam session mini-game or anything, just them shrugging off a near-death experience that neither of them had probably ever experienced before.
6/10: A game should be more than just a semi-decent story, and even with that, the story is lacking a lot of basic re-playability features in the narrative itself and a weird semi-lack of character growth despite there being obvious flickers of it in the hangout sections and certain dialogues. It's like being on an interactive rail track, providing the barebones or straight illusion of choice to keep you on. At least the first half of the story was good, especially with those in-depth talks with your friends, but it was pretty underwhelming afterward, and I would not have bought this if I knew this was what there was to see. Get it on sale if you must.

Other than the visuals I didn't really find anything appealing in this game. The story, the characters and the gameplay was too basic/uninteresting and the artstyle wasn't nearly enough to carry the game. I could only play this game in multiple two hour long chucks because it was too boring

This game is so incredibly boring. The character walks so slow. The dialogue is also extremely slow and cannot be skipped or backed out of. The dialogue has been 90% useless, isn’t funny nor does it develop the plot. The animation was fine. Soundtrack was subpar.

I know this game is very popular, but I just didn't connect with it in any way, surprisingly. The writing is not on any high level, the gameplay is slow and unsatisfying and the emotion is just not there. I liked the town and the vibe of a collapsing small town, but wish the story, writing and how you go through it were different.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING

THE GOOD
- I really, really, really like this game's aesthetic. The designs, the colours, the minigames. The presentation of everything in the game is just lovely.
- Greg and Bea are very interesting and well developed characters.
- I also really like the uh... the umm... hang on, I'll think of something....... Nope, guess not. On to the bad.
THE BAD
- Im gonna be blunt, Mae is the worst part of Night in the Woods. It's really hard to take her problems seriously when most of them stem from her being a violent prick who doesn't care. I spent most of the game excited to see this flawed character get developed into something greater, but she never does. Mae starts the game as a self centred child in an adult's body and ends the game a self centred child in an adult's body.
- The ending is horribly anti-climactic. And yeah, I see what they're going for. The goal seems to have been for the characters and town to be the real meat of the game, with the story and mystery being set dressing to give our characters something to do, but ultimately, I feel like this approach just fell flat on it's face. It doesn't work. What's the point of a big mystery if it doesn't go anywhere and doesn't have any real conclusion?
- Even ignoring the anti-climactic ending, the story just isn't very well structured. Nothing really happens until the final act, where the game decides to haphazardly dump all it's cards onto the table, then leaps out the window and shatters every bone in it's body for no apparent reason.
- Most of the dream sequences are boring and feel like they only exist to pad runtime.
- Ima be real, if I found out that my childhood friend got kidnapped and fed to an eldritch horror by a cult, I think I would have had a slightly more intense response than "oh man, the cult killed Casey, that sucks dude".
- The writing varies from 'actually pretty funny' to '2014 tumblr humour' at the drop of a hat. Some missions are hilarious, others get the tumblr humour. Try your luck.
FINAL THOUGHTS
A lot of my favourite games are ones that I played at the perfect time in my life for them to make the biggest possible emotional impact on me. Night in the Woods is the opposite of this, because I would have fucking loved this game when I was 16, but as a old, senile 22 year old, oh my god, I do not care.
Should you play this game? Probably. Everyone else seems to have liked it. I'm very much in the minority here.

This game affected me so deeply, I now have a cardboard cutout of Gregg that I gaze at every night before drifting off to sleep, he has been with me through all the tough times, this little man could survive a fire if necessary, even though he is just cardboard. I also spent 68 dollars on a Mae hat.
Either way, the dialogue in this game is so real, I love Gregg so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so MUCH. thank you to the creators of this game for making me cry so hard I was bedridden from the sheer impact of this game.
100000000000000000000/10 game, i have yet to find anything to effect me as much as this game has.
