Amazing Cultivation Simulator takes you on a wonderful journey of micromanaging a mostly daoist sect of babies that will die of fright if the door of their room faces the wrong direction or someone drops a relic on the floor. You will interact with humans, monsters, bosses, and visitors from other sects who will give you a 1 star rating despite being assigned the nicest room in the sect, because they decided to stand next to a cowpat. You are supposed to eventually kill the other sects. I never got that far, but I can appreciate the sentiment. You get a pet dog who will defecate on people's beds unless you specifically discourage him from doing that. You also have the option of making him defecate exclusively on people's beds. Feces are a game mechanic. A surprising number of sect leaders seems to love dragon feces in most of my runs, which sucks because those things are pretty helpful if you let your cultivators meditate next to them. My rooster got a toothache once and there is a lively discourse over the fact that the English translation uses 'female bull' instead of cow. People can leave comments on objects which range in usefulness from full on guides, which you should read if you want to have any hope of not getting wiped out, to the aforementioned cow discourse. It's a Rimworld with a daoist cultivation theme. Don't let anyone shame you into not downloading the convenience mods. Or do. I probably wouldn't have sunk over 1200 hours (as of the time of writing this review) into this game without them. Take this as either a glowing recommendation or a stark warning.

A game for Wuxia enthusiasts and/or the utterly deranged. Once you get a hang for the mechanics, strengthening your sect of rice farmers into demi-gods is very satisfying. There are many paths you can take your disciples that have different powers and play styles. It has more than enough content to justify its price. Almost every missing QoL feature can be provided via Steam Workshop mods.

so... the Amazing Cultivation Simulator. ... started out as a wolf-man. things were going pretty good. failed my wofl-man tribulation and turned into a spirit demon wolf demon thing.... got beat to death by my tribe, reincarnated as a real wolf... got beat to death again and turned into a jacket. 13/10, would do another run... 100% chinese rim-world + monster-girl simulator... I love a good RoTK Truly Amazing

Has any European heard of Feng Shui in their lives? I remember that during the American Elections, news outlet thought that because of the Chinese New Year, they should ask a Feng Shui "master" who would win elections and Donald Trump allegedly has strong Earth Feng Shui, and I quote "already supported with a lot of Fire" while Biden was weak to fire because he had strong Wood Feng Shui Anyways he was completely wrong in everything he said to no one's avail this is just mysticism and superstition galore But what if the very rules of the universe were actually dictated by nonsense like that? What if you were born on the day of Fire and therefore died of a heart attack because you saw too much water? Now imagine that on top of that, you can become such a god at this magical system dreamt up by those who are genuinely insane, that you can behead someone with your bare hands by combining 18 different elements like the time of day, the size and materials of the room, the cushion you sit on, the season and the weather? The entire point of the whole game is that everything is an excuse to something out of your control and you as the player, if you wanna survive, must understand every single system within a system within the game itself to not have your guys fall over and DIE because some random demi-god beast just lives there Sorry man it wasn't my day, there's bad Feng Shui for me it's the [???] If, for whatever reason, you have enough time to dedicate to the equivalent of 300h of cultivation IRL by reading Wiki articles, strategy guides and min-maxing spreadsheets, you'll love the game because it's a nightmare that keeps on giving Also 408 achievements, all of which imply playing with added difficulty sliders and checks, as if the game wasn't dreadful by default But beyond all that? Yeah it's an unbelievably well crafted game, it'll explain the entire genre of cultivation slop to you as the games built upon it are all, very chinese, and like to exploit your wallet Here? You probably have a genuine 300h of content, and thousands of achievement hunting if you like the gameplay loop for whatever reason The fair warning being that it's a second job type of game, you'll have to dedicate active brainpower to figuring out how everything works and by the time you're done, you'll have to do it all over again for one of the god knows how many systems of cultivation there are in the game now Also yeah the story is notoriously dogshit but they added different ending paths, whether defeat all bosses or conquer the whole map and more so don't worry too much about that. It's primarily a sandbox, the story is just extra modules on top But yeah auspicious Feng Shui with this one Look forward to the second game, now THAT's something hype
