Resident Evil 2 is a prime example of how to do a remake. Developing this game from the ground-up with the RE engine was the best choice Capcom could've made. No typical remastering, in which the resolutions and textures are reworked. The graphics are just astonishing and beautiful. The two characters, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield and, not-to-forget the mysterious Ada Wong, are both amazing characters you're certainly gonna enjoy to get invested into. Especially Ada, where it's not entirely clear, whose side she's really on. RE 2 impresses with extremely atmospheric lighting effects, very detailed facial expressions and animations and the best looking zombies one has ever seen in any game before. Although only a handful of different models were used doesn't change the fact how amazing and deeply detailed they look like. Exploring the dark hallways and sewers, learning the structure of the police station and solving complicated puzzles requiring you to memorize various steps are really fun and time-consuming simultaneously. The police station, the underground beneath and the scientific lab are all so well-designed and connected and in every corner, there might be something waiting to get explored. It's surely worth investing all your time into discovering every hidden item/message possible. Exploring also allows you to find expansions of your maps showing which rooms are still to be discovered or whether everything in the already-searched rooms has been taken. Inventory and ammunition management is key to survive in this game. You're always in danger of running out of ammo and healing items and you can't always carry everything you need to keep progressing through this game. You need to make use of items before you can replace them without other ones and have to look whether you can combine any to make space for other stuff. The sound design has been developed excellently allowing the player to be fully immersed into the gameplay experience, as there is little-to-no music playing during the gameplay, which leaves room for creaking doors, thunderstorms and rain to be heard by the player, whilst already have to fight through groups of scary and bloodthirsty undead, which includes Mr. X, a Tyrant super-zombie with a blank facial expression who is almost impossible to take down and generally is better to just hide from. When it comes to the negative, the 2nd runs are to be named. They are basically short versions of the actual campaigns of each respective protagonist. There isn't really anything different compared to the main campaigns, if I remember correctly, aside from the fact that certain items are moved to new locations, but that's already it. After I finished Leon's A run, the only option for a 2nd run was Claire's and not Leon's, but after I finished Claire's A run, I had to option to choose between either Leon's or Claire's B run. How does this make sense? Also: In Leon's B run, the cutscene early on with the truck driver was completely removed and Leon's part was shown instead. Not even in Claire's B run it was cut out, so why only during Leon's? Capcom has done a fantastic job with remaking the legendary classic called Resident Evil 2 and turning it into a modern, thrilling and atmospheric game, which feels like it's an entirely new game with a new story. I can't recommend giving the respective 2nd runs a shot tho, as they're basically just the campaigns in a shorter, more rushed version. However, the main campaigns are more than recommendable. Your first ever playthrough of any of these campaigns is certainly one you'll never ever forget in the whole of your life.

The overall quality of this release / game is imo insane. The story and its telling excellent, level and sound design top notch and the amount and difficulty of puzzles just right. Weapons and their upgrades are okay, some more useful than other, but that is normal. As it should be, not your rush in and kill every zombie game - can be challenging on hardcore (at least it still is for me). All those things together with the gripping overall atmosphere make this a very immersive game. It looks stunning and runs smooth on my machine (so far not technical issues). Not often that I recommend a game even for full price, but it really is worth it. Highly recommended!

I tried really hard to like this game. I just don't think it's good. It's unintuitive. The gameplay loop has no reward. I found myself frustrated the entire time rather than enjoying it. If i hadn't spent 2 hours trying to get it to use the correct monitor I might have been able to get my money back. Luckily I got it on sale and only wasted $10.

I'm a newer player to this series, and I have 2-4 right now. I think this is a great remake in general to most games, the story is great, and the characters are written well. Quality is on top aswell. But I don't recommend playing it before re3 because re2 events occur after some events that happened in re3. Anyone who strictly plays series games in chronological order, play re3 halfway in, after play re2, and then finish re3. Anywho, get this game asap 👽

Playtime: 20–40 hours | Completion: Both campaigns + extras Highly Recommended Resident Evil 2 Remake is a phenomenal reimagining of a survival horror classic. It respects the original while completely modernizing the experience with a stunning engine, tight third-person gameplay, and masterful atmosphere. Whether you’re a longtime fan or brand new to the series, this is survival horror at its finest. Pros: Gorgeous visuals and lighting, thanks to the RE Engine Two distinct campaigns (Leon and Claire), each with their own story beats and challenges Fantastic map and inventory system — smart, clean, and intuitive Mr. X is genuinely terrifying and adds tension to exploration Balanced blend of puzzles, backtracking, and intense combat Excellent sound design that builds dread around every corner Cons: The B-scenarios feel a bit too similar to the A-scenarios Some late-game enemies lack the same impact as earlier ones Hardcore mode can be punishing without offering much reward beyond difficulty Final Thoughts: RE2 Remake sets a gold standard for how to modernize a classic. It’s terrifying, fun, and polished from top to bottom. Every hallway feels like it could be your last. If you enjoy horror, don’t skip this. 9.5/10 "The remake that raised the bar — and your heart rate."

Pretty good. Wish Capcom would make a classic RE game, even if it is a remake. TPSs are getting old and RE used to be unique and cinematic. I prefer a few areas and cut stuff from OG RE2 but the game itself is fine.

As someone who never got into Resident Evil, nor tends to finish games this really surprised me. I fell in love with this game. Not only did I finish a play through for once, I also ended up doing the second one. The pacing of this game is perfect for me, both runs offer enough variety to keep them interesting and the game never outstays its welcome. Can't wait to get started on the next game.

Beautiful remake and one of my favorite games of all time. Campaign is clever and gripping--I somehow never grew tired of running through hallways you're sent through 10 times. Love each of the three characters + the replayability. Tons of clever scripting and set pieces, and the side content feels legit and not like it was thrown in. Overall, a perfect place to start if you've never experienced the Resident Evil world. 9/10

Resident Evil 2 is by far one of the best Resident Evil games, most things about this game are truly excellent. The setting being Racoon City is a BIG one i dont think CAPCOMS ever managed to make anything as good as raccoon city its in a league of its own. All characters in this game are incredibly well performed, and it has one of the better stories from the franchise. and not to mention the amount of side content such as the ghost survivors fun and challenging scenarios but once you beat them you probably wont go back for awhile, 4th survivors is a very challenging mode that will have you shitting your pants the further you get because your dreading dying, the music in this game is a bit lackluster but when you hear it it leaves you wanting more. The remakes save theme is one of my favourates in the franchise so its a little saddening that we didnt get more from it but they make up for it by allowing players to switch to the OG soundtrack which is always a welcome addition. so over all this game is an excellent resident evil game and survival horror game its a great play for survival horror veterans and newcomers alike. TLDR: GOOD ASS GAME PLAYA

"Hard Mode, or Just Unfair Design?" I usually love playing games on the hardest difficulty. In most games, this means stronger bosses, tougher enemies, faster reaction times — the usual. But here? You get less ammo, no auto saves, and random boss appearances that feel more annoying than challenging. Zombies don’t get smarter or faster — they just become massive bullet sponges. We're talking full magazine to take one down... and that’s in the early stages. At first, I thought I was doing something wrong. But then I watched YouTubers and streamers — and guess what? They just run past everything. Speedrunning, dodging, skipping fights. Is that the intended way to play? Where’s the fun in avoiding every enemy just to save bullets? This game punishes you for trying to engage. If you're looking for a survival action game with rewarding difficulty, this ain't it.

Now this is the first time I've written a review for a game and I doubt many will see it, and even tho I have yet to fully finish it I need to talk about what is undeniably the scariest game experience I probably will ever have. This comes in the form of the terminator-like behemoth, Mr. X or the Tyrant. Now what exactly makes this thing horrifying. To properly understand you must how it works and the background. So around a third of the way into the game you have by this point gotten used to the zombies and while the zombie dogs and Licker's are scary at first they can be counter-played quite easily once you understand their mechanics. Now enter Mr. X. At first you don't really get a good look at him as he's mostly obscured from view. However that does not make it any less unnerving when you see his giant arm burst through a stone wall and brutally murder your only way out of the police station you are trapped in. You manage to make it out and start getting back to completing puzzles and advancing the story but little do you know the real terror has only just begun. After putting out a helicopter on fire you begin to backtrack towards it only to see Mr. X single handedly lift the chopper up and jam it into the wall. From this point forward this terminator on steroids actively pursues you throughout the station. moving at a pace just slightly slower than the player Mr. X is a near relentless force that cannot be put down by any of your weapons and at most only stunned for a few seconds. However the the largest fear factor comes not from his massive frame closing in on you but his presence in the station. His lumbering footsteps being a constant reminder to the player to hurry up whatever task or objective they have for fear that he will suddenly appear. This is amplified by the fact that Mr. X can follow the player into just about every room besides a select few. This means that unless you can somehow lose him you must constantly be on the move which can present its own problems. due to the stations zombie and licker infestation and our limited ammo, we can only kill so many and believe me when I tell you there is nothing more terrifying than running from a 7-8 foot killing machine on legs while your escapes are blocked by hordes of the undead. Now all this may seem bad enough but there's even more layers of horror to this. Now because of the incredible development and thought that went into this game Mr. X never despawn's and then appears again at scripted moments like many horror games do. He is quite literally always there in the station searching and hunting you, even in areas that haven't been rendered by the player Mr. X will hunt, waiting for you to enter the wrong room and walk right into his cold line of sight. He also has very acute hearing, meaning that firing a gun is basically an open invitation to be beaten into the floor. even running is risky as he can hear that too. Another aspect of his horror is how calm he is. He offers essentially 0 facial expression or even sound to clue to player in on any of his deeper thoughts, if he even has any. It also but blatantly obvious he could chase us down in seconds if he wanted to but for better or worse he chooses to be just barely slower. than you This could be interpreted multiple ways. of course there is the boring answer being he would simply be overpowered if the player truly had no advantage however I at least like to imagine there could be a deeper motive. Does he like playing with his food? Giving them a false sense of chance and hope? or is there some part of his human self left that wants us to succeed? There is no clear cut answer but the mystery of it only benefits his intrigue in the long run. Add all of that to the fact that the map you have become pretty comfortable in for the most part is now inhabbited by this monster beyond your full understanding creates the ultimate horror game stalker that no other game I've ever played before or since has been able to capture even half the magic of what made this thing truly terrifying to experience. So to anyone reading this while considering getting the game, DO IT. It may a scarring experience you may need to take a break every 10 minutes to calm your mind but I promise that when you look back on it all with a smile and want to go through it all over again, only to emotionally scare yourself again. But that's just one the many things that is so amazing and frustrating about this damn near masterpiece of a horror game.

This game is a masterpiece, the sense of horror and tension is unmatched once you get into the police station and you are pursued by Mr. X/Tyrant. Unfortunately that is where the game peaks (and it's a really high peak, almost 10/10), because then it becomes an 3rd person action game where that initial tension diminishes, due to you acquiring better gear (this criticisism can be applied to the whole series to be honest), but it's still a very enjoyable game. I give it overall a 9/10, but with a caveat. See below. However, if you already played the original game from 1998, you will notice that the story has been streamlined from 4 campaigns to basically 2 and a half (even though the game has 4 "different" scenarios). And by half, I mean that Leon and Claire campaigns are practically identical from start to finish, except the middle part where you play as
Ada for Leon or Sherry for Claire for a few minutes
and the boss you fight at the end is different for Leon and Claire, and this also includes the "2nd Run" as this game calls it. In both campaigns, either first time or 2nd run, you solve the same puzzles with both characters, regardless of who arrived first to RPD, and you can get the true ending of RE2 Remake by playing both campaigns. You see, in the original game, there was Leon A, Claire A, Leon B and Claire B. The first campaign dinamically changes based on the choices you do on your first playthrough, because it is intended that both Leon and Claire are in RPD at the same time, but they arrived at different points as the game progressed. Leon A means that Leon got to RPD first, therefore on your second playthrough you are going to play as Claire B, with a different starting point and taking into consideration what Leon did on the first playthrough, then you can play Claire A and Leon B and see the differences. For example, there is a part in the OG game where Leon/Claire finds a locker and you can choose between getting a Machine Gun or an inventory expansion (or both if you are a masochist), then in their B scenarios, Claire/Leon (respectively) will have to choose the item you left in your first playthrough, HUGELY affecting the gameplay. Another example would be a section in RPD where you can lock via circuit some windows in a corridor so the zombies don't get in, if you do this in the A scenario, then in the B scenario the windows will already be locked for a while, but it will short-circuit and the windows will open, exposing you to more zombies. NONE of this is in the Remake, basically what it does is that the other character has to solve the same puzzles to progress but from a different route in the "2nd Run" (also some item locations and codes are different but it's very minor) which doesnt make sense storywise. Considering all this, it will make you realize the humungous amount of cut content this game has compared to the original, BUT at least this one has 4 new modes the original didn't have: Ghost Survivors, which are what-if scenarios of some characters you encounter in the game, and they are useful to learn when to shoot and when to run. So, in the end, it's understable if you feel a bit disappointed in this remake, because it is basically more a RE-imagening more than a RE-make, with it's own canon apart from the original.

I'm kind of new to RE. I played RE4 way back on the wii, RE5 on PS3, and a few on the nintendo DS, and considered them "shoot zombie games" rather than strict "Horror" games. Holy shit though, this one is actually spooky. Lots of stressful moments and genuine OMG moments. Game runs smooth, looks awesome, feels great, and is intuitive and immersive. Lots of replayability, but I dont know how much I'll do as I am finding my first run through very stressful (in a good way!) Pick it up its great.

Resident Evil 2 Remake – A Masterclass in Survival Horror ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10) Capcom absolutely nailed it with the Resident Evil 2 Remake. This isn't just a fresh coat of paint—it's a complete reimagining that honors the original while delivering a modern survival horror experience that feels both nostalgic and brand new. The atmosphere is thick with tension from the very first hallway. The Raccoon City Police Department is beautifully (and terrifyingly) brought to life with incredible attention to detail, dynamic lighting, and a haunting soundtrack that keeps you on edge. Zombies are genuinely threatening again—slow, relentless, and horrifyingly resilient. Both Leon and Claire's campaigns are well-paced with just enough variation to warrant multiple playthroughs. The puzzles, item management, and exploration balance perfectly with combat and story. And Mr. X? Absolutely terrifying. His constant pursuit adds an unforgettable layer of dread. The RE Engine really shines here—everything looks and feels polished. Controls are tight, the over-the-shoulder camera works flawlessly, and performance is solid even on mid-range PCs. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, Resident Evil 2 Remake is a must-play. It’s survival horror done right.

This is a review after completion of both A and B runs and seeing the true ending. This is a fantastic remake, the gold standard that every remake should strive to be like. This game is a masterpiece of survival horror brought to life for a new generation of gamers. It maintains the magic of the original while bringing it up to code to stand among games released today. This game does cheat the original like RE3R (I still love RE3R anyways), it is still RE2 at heart but given new life. The game was given far more than a face lift, it truly rebuilds the game from the ground up. One of the most major elements is game play. Gone are the fixed camera angles and clunky tank controls of the original. This time it is rebuilt as a TPS where you are in complete control of the camera!!! If you have played any of the other remakes you have an idea of what to expect from the gunplay. You will be be shooting your way through the enemies of RE2 while being mindful of your resources. This game will give you a tough time at points, especially in the RPD. Early on healing items are limited and ammo even more so. This forces you to play smart and think "is that zombie really worth killing". But I hope you can think fast because who knows what what might be after you. You will be exploring the RPD and other locations as either college student Claire Redfield or rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy. Depending who you choose your weapons and certain missions will vary, this adds noticeable difference between characters, especially if you are doing an A/B true ending run. The story takes place during the infamous Raccoon City incident and follows Leon and Claire along with a supporting cast of characters. After the outbreak in the city Leon and Claire find themselves trapped in the RPD and slowly unraveling the truth behind all this. The story was interesting a genuinely kept me engaged for the roughly 8 hour run time of each campaign. The highlight of the story shines with it's characters who have depth, motive, and personality. They feel like real people, not some copy and paste cardboard cutouts sold off as the MCs. It also ties into the larger RE universe very well which makes it not only an essential piece of the lore, but also serves as the first chapter to Claire and Leon's stories. RE2 being a horror game will always raise the question "how scary is it?", I'm here to tell you, it deserves it's place as one of the franchises scariest games. The atmosphere of the dark and stormy environments combined with the grotesque enemy design and uncertain resources always keeps you on your toes. The pressure put on you by the menacing tyrant is also no joke. If you don't like jump scares though, don't worry. The game doesn't really have many jump scares, it relies on other methods to scare you. Another thing to note is that I would like to throw up a blood/gore notice. I know that game lists blood and gore in the age rating but I would like to elaborate for those who may be sensitive. I, myself, don't have an issue, but i know that isn't true for everyone. I know that there is a general stigma around people who can't gore and games, so this rarely gets mentioned, if you don't care then skip to the next paragraph. This is probably one of the more grotesque entries in the series and uses that to unsettle/scare you. There are scenes of graphically mutilated corpses and and body horror, take this into account if you are sensitive. The sound design is once again amazing in the VA department, the actors have delivered and amazing performance that truly adds to the game. On the other side the music is nothing special, mostly just ambient tracks to build atmosphere, not much else to say. Graphically it is another masterpiece that leverages the best technology on the market to deliver a truly stunning experience. It performs well and can be run on a wide range of hardware, granted you are willing to dip into the graphics quality for those extra frames. A short explanation of the A/B runs is that after beating your first run as Claire/Leon you will get an option to start and altered "Second Run" as the character you didn't choose first time, this leads to the true ending. IMO it is worth doing and different enough to not be boring even if played back-to-back. My only real issue is the boss fights. Like RE3R they got repetitive fast and and kinda felt like a drag (however there aren't many). In conclusion/TLDR, it is a faithful remake that impresses on all fronts and performs well. It is a great game for people looking for a little scare without pissing themselves. It is a great entry for seasoned and new RE players alike which will set up some of the best characters in the franchise. I give it a 9/10.

One of the greatest games I've ever played, and I've only played Leon's story so far. I doubt Claire's story will change that. Exploration, combat, visuals, storytelling, art direction, you name it. This game has it all and then some. Oh, and it's really, really scary.

You could get lost a couple of times throughout the game, but it's manageable. The game itself is scary as in the form of chases and (sometimes) jumpscares. The game itself runs extremely well, I personally was averaging 135-145 FPS on high using a 4060 (well it's to be expected from a Capcom resident evil game) and highly optimized.

The game is short but the gameplay is engaging and perfectly fits the genre of the horror especially lmao, the horror element in this game is actually pretty good and now Im fucking afraid of running down corners because there's a chance a zombie is camping out to get a bite of me, and yeah fuck Mr. X.

Шикарный ремейк. В сравнении с 4той частью - более опасные зомбаки и более страшная атмосфера
