Resident Evil 2

The entire game can be thought of as a puzzle. You always need to get something to progress to the next area, or unlock an inaccessible part of the map. There are some jump scares here and there. Having to ration your ammo is a bit difficult, especially when enemies are chasing you around. If you decide to kill enemies, you better not miss, or you're wasting bullets. You cannot loot in peace at all. And later in the game there is a boss that is literally constantly chasing you throughout the map. Overall, fun game, albeit a bit short. 7/10

What can I say, I bought this game on PS4, where I played the game for the first time and also played it on hardcore, and when I saw a sale I couldn’t resist and bought this masterpiece in order to play everything again, and also play it all again on hardcore, I love this game and recommend it to everyone))

Of all the Resident Evil games, my favorite is Resident Evil 2 because the story is very memorable and I really like it.

This game's story telling is superior to the movies in every way. I vaguely remember beating the original PS one version of this game. Coming back to this version on my Steam Deck was an amazing experience. It holds up incredibly well against many other modern games despite having hardcore old school puzzles and backtracking.

Many jumpscares, I never paused a game this fast after I was scared shitless. But, good game and good story!

so i like the game because you meet the evil resident and kill them but i think if i was leon kennedy i would just shit myself and cry because this would be scary if it happened in real life no joke

So intense and scary as hell. Never played the original so I have nothing to really go off of but this game so far is amazing. Don't want to put it down.

The game is not as geared towards new players as it's towards series fans for multiple playthroughs, speedruns and records. But there is still interesting content for a one-time playthrough, even if it's significantly shorter.

Resident Evil 2 is by far one of the best Resident Evil games, most things about this game are truly excellent. The setting being Racoon City is a BIG one i dont think CAPCOMS ever managed to make anything as good as raccoon city its in a league of its own. All characters in this game are incredibly well performed, and it has one of the better stories from the franchise. and not to mention the amount of side content such as the ghost survivors fun and challenging scenarios but once you beat them you probably wont go back for awhile, 4th survivors is a very challenging mode that will have you shitting your pants the further you get because your dreading dying, the music in this game is a bit lackluster but when you hear it it leaves you wanting more. The remakes save theme is one of my favourates in the franchise so its a little saddening that we didnt get more from it but they make up for it by allowing players to switch to the OG soundtrack which is always a welcome addition. so over all this game is an excellent resident evil game and survival horror game its a great play for survival horror veterans and newcomers alike. TLDR: GOOD ASS GAME PLAYA

Basically unintuitive puzzles and gameplay. Story, settings, horror and characters are all charming. like a re7ified version of re2 with bad puzzles and a re-written series of events no dynamically respawning ammo punishing for locking you out of weapons if you dont get them in t ime had to beat final boss with just pistol since no shotgun ammo and missed the other two guns even though i did all the puzzles for magnum just didnt know to combine box and sceptor because of no hints found and unexplanatory item descriptions, same thing with the battery and electronic device and the c4 all things i found seperately but no clues/item descriptions to help egg the player in the right direction

Very good remake It runs incredibly smooth on my mid-grade machine. May not be long but there is replay value since you can play as both characters. Their are different routes for each character and bonus modes.

Game is pretty good. Those who are fan of RE Franchise should play it once. I highly recommend this game

It is a super game, this Remake takes the original to a new level. Highly recommended. If you are a fan of the series and RE 2 from the PS1 era, then you will enojoy this one a lot!

I'm a FPS guy and playing this with an FPS mod and it's very good. First time playing this game, I obviously was around when this first came out and ignored it entirely. I went from 1 to 3,4,5 and then most recently 8 then 7. 8 was amazing, hated 7, this is DAM good as an FPS.

On its own it took everything that made the original game iconic, and expanded on it perfectly. You get clean game play, fun mechanics, changeable play styles, replay value, and bonuses for $40. Most games today demand $60+ for games still in progress, micro transactions, and unoptimized for most people's PC's. You can play a clean, fun, exciting and replayable game and I'm replaying it 4-5 years later and its hard to imagine.

Yeah its a fun horror game or whatever. But that's not what is gonna keep you playing. It's that little rank that it gives you at the end of a run. Doing a run as fast as possible, finding your own strats and figuring out the best order to do things is addicting in RE2.

This is a fantastic survival horror game. haven't even beat it yet and I already love it.

Still over the moon on how well the Capcom team managed to translate the feeling of the classic over to a new engine with polished graphics and more robust combat without making it feel like you're playing a bootleg Max Payne. I had massive expectations towards this one, and they were exceeded in every way. RE2 remake set the new standard for working on older titles and I expect nothing less from the inevitable CVX remake that's long due, much more urgent than the RE4 which still holds up as it is.

I love this game, this is my introduction to the Resident Evil series (aside from Death Island and the Netflix TV show) i love this game and you betcha I'm going to try RE4 and the one with Albert Wesker!

Fun adventure - can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said but I did almost soft lock myself toward the end: critical health and no healing items right before the final bosses. Had to switch to assist mode :shame: save up those health items or at least use multiple save slots…

I have finally decided to play this game after having it in my library for about 3 years (maybe even more), i'd say that my first Leon A playthrough was pretty fine, despite having to re-download the game 3 times due to me having to switch computers twice (this was caused by OS issues). The story itself is really good, it managed to fully capture my emotions and make me feel as if i was part of the game, the gameplay is pretty good aswell and the guns never seem too powerful (except when you start using infinite ammo, which you really have to work for imo). My only personal complaint (which is probably due to the RNG in my run) is that i have struggled so much in the final bossfight against Mr.X that i had to literally reload my save 61 times (counted), i had pretty much no ammo for anything (except for the pistol) and no heals whatsoever, i just had to resort to learning every single attack of his and i had to make every attempt pretty much perfect (keep in mind that this wasn't done with the left hand cheese). Honestly i'd say that i have struggled much more on Resident Evil 2 than Resident Evil 7 and Village (8), which i have both completed respectively on Madhouse and Village of Shadows with pretty much no deaths/retries compared to RE2, but it may also be due to the fact that i haven't taken a single break from when i started the game till the very end (7/8 consecutive hours of playing, my save counted 5 hours at the end of the run, do the math on how much time it took me for the final bossfight with retries upon retries). The graphics are amazing (i have played it on High settings), there is really nothing to say about the RE Engine, it really is a great work of art. I don't recall having any issues with the DirectX version as many people mentioned, i played on the latest DX12 release (as of 6/19/2025) just fine.

this is my favorite game, i love this because of the gameplay, the characters and bosses. I will try my best to get s+ rank in hardcore mode.

To start I've played this game on Xbox and got it on PC to play with the wide world of mods I've also played the original many times, if someone were to ask me which RE to start with it's always this one. This game brought such iconic characters to the franchise and this remake does them justice all over again for a new audience who are just getting into the series. The game play is a perfect modern transition feeling very similar to the original just with a new 3rd person perspective. I'm glad to also see the RPD with the stunning graphics and have the layout updated as well (they finally got bathrooms).

I don't really like horror games, but there is something about the puzzle aspect mixed with the survival element that truly brings this game to life. The unexpected introduction of Mr X drastically alters how you play, forcing you to play in a more strategic way leaving you on edge as you traverse through the PD and the subsequent areas. 10/10

I enjoyed this game a lot. It was the first RE Game I played. The graphics were good, the stories were good and the gameplay was good. Overall a very good game. Definitely worth it.

Got the game on sale, played it as my first ever resident evil experience, played as Leon, beat the game, felt satisfied and that the game had just barely *not* overstayed its welcome, with its somewhat boring/generic levels and "more annoying than difficult" combat. (although since this is a remaster of a 1998 game I guess it created the genre trends first) Then there's the 2nd playthrough as whatever character you didn't play as the first time. In the (basically) exact same areas. With minor variation of enemies and some new weapons, at least. Great game, but get ready to be in for the long haul.

as a longtime RE fan I can confidently say this is one of the best entries in the series. the graphics are stunning, the gampplay is smooth and engaging and the story kept me hooked from the start to finish. it perfectly captures the essence of what makes RE so iconic, i highly recommend it to both fans and newcomers alike. Solid 9/10

Solid Remake of a timeless classic, absolutely a must play for anyone that's a Resident Evil fan; that or you enjoy horror games.

The residents of Raccoon City were pretty evil. Pros -Good graphics. -Good animations. -OTS camera works very well. -Good execution of survival horror (the game is actually scary). -Well optimized. -Zombies are done well because you never know if a dead body is going to get up. Cons -Graphics settings don't save. -Too little ammo at times can basically soft lock your game. -Zombies eat bullets like they're candy. -Stealth is not there (You walk to sneak. There should be a crouching mechanic to add realism). -Why can't Leon jump a two foot gap? It would be nice if that made more sense. -The DLC gun is essentially useless late game because you cannot upgrade it.

Absolute masterpiece of the Resident Evil franchise 10/10 would recommend. But Mr.X is a pain in the ass!

The Resident Evil games have a huge place in my heart when it comes to nostalgia and influence on me, and they absolutely nailed this. My only critique would be that there are elements that could've been improved with the second character run, but overall it's excellent.

gotta be honest, i have pirated the game the first time i play it ( cuz me broke ), but the game is so good, i bought a copy to do a second run, gotta respect to the devs. actual 10/10 game

Honestly still one of the best remakes of a video game out there. It's for sure worth going back to play again or playing for the first time. So if you're looking for a good scare then you're in for a great ride!

This was my introduction to the RE franchise and it was really fun! I'm trying to get most of the games done before RE9 comes out and this was a good start. It's crazy how this is a remake for a game made in 1998, where now they can really show their true vision. Both of the stories featuring Leon and Claire were equally engaging and interesting, and going for the 100% wasn't too bad. As much as I hate replaying games, it didn't bother me to play each story a couple of times. Overall a really good game balancing action and horror, I recommend it a lot!

I had been waiting for a long time to start playing this game, since I bought it in February. I can gladly say that the wait was worth it, I LOVE THIS GAME SOOO MUCH!! currently playing Claire's segment. I used to watch other youtubers play this in 2019, so happy that I can finally play this myself too. 😍🤩❤️‍🔥😭

This was my first newer Resident Evil that I bought and I do not regret anything Ever since I bought RE2 I ended up buying every single Resident evil game that is available on the steam store HIGHLY RECOMMEND a first person mod ( RE FRAMEWORK ) 10/10
