Sifu is a great example how to design hard games. Like everything else in life, when you first start something you are not that great but you learn over time... and Sifu supports that. When you die, you not only get the opportunity to spend your xp in abilities but also deal more damage, while you get older and have less hp. So its like: "Hey it's okay to fail but then really learn from your mistakes and do it next time better.". This is totally motivating and avoids that frustrating punishment you get in other hard games but at the same time it still tests your skill. And this is just one feature, the rest of the gameplay is great too. The abilities are tactical and cool, attack and defense feel great, interacting with the worlds items is nice and most importantly: the difficutly feels fluid. What I mean is that there is not a section where I easily rushed it or got stuck for multiple hours, because that's another thing some hard games struggle. So yeah this is a great game and everyone who like this kind of "skill issue get better" gameplay, they will have a blast with Sifu.

The main thing about this game is the combat mechanics, so if it doesn't click with you, there's not much more it offers. However, if it does click and you get used to the mechanics, you'll be a badass in crazy, fun fight scenes all the time. Their design choices for death and progression also suit the game really well, and it works great—definitely recommended.

Sifu will absolutely not hold your hand, it'll knock you down, over and over. It is tough, it is punishing, it CAN be unfair at times, but almost all of these difficulties can be mitigated or straight up nullified through learning and utilizing the full-extent of your kit/abilities. The aesthetics of this game are phenomenal, it has the typical kung fu film plot of wanting to avenge your father, But there is enough depth for it to make you want a bit more. The game is loaded with references from various other kung fu/action thriller films, from Oldboy to the Matrix to The Raid. No other game, beat em' ups or otherwise, managed to really push me as much as Sifu did to get better at something. I'd recommend this game to anyone who loves a challenge and the feeling of overcoming it.

That reminded me of 'Jackie Chan Stuntmaster' for PS1, but better. Engaging and dynamic battles, different combos, interactive scenarios that allow you to fight using different objects. The death-counting mechanic is an innovative and cool feature. It's definitely an excellent beat 'em up game, though additional stages would’ve enhanced it.

Well, as many might have already said that this game hard as f - its actually not that deep, because if you have already played something like sekiro and you liked it - you probably wont struggle here that long. Onto the combat - its pretty good, i'd even said great, you may surely struggle at the beginning but once you start to feel it - you became addicted to it, that's what happened to me. An impact from hitting enemies is there and you can genuinely feel whether you punched him in the face or block, it feels great. About roguelite elements, again its not that deep as someone may say. At the beginning, all your moves will be locked under xp requirements, like you need 500 xp to unlock a move and so on. They will stay with you until a restart, but if you, for example, got a move on the first hideout and you moved onto the second and then you restarted second hideout from the start, moves that you unlocked on the first will be saved. But you still can get them permanently after buying them for 5~ times, i don't remember the exact number, so you wont need to bother about them again. Skills on its self could be bought from shrines, which are stationed around a hideout, but you also can buy skills from the tree in the hub. About challenges, they are ok, some are really enjoyable, and some feels just as a drag, its for you to decide. But, because for completing them, you will be rewarded different outfits, which i personally find really cool. ALMOST FORGOT, the music is just peak, a lot of cool tracks to beat up the crowd to, but still sometimes your own music hits just better. [b]Overall I do recommend it, and its definitely worth the price.[b]

This is one of my favorite games of all time. At first, to be honest, the game kind of sucks — it’s extremely unforgiving for beginners. But as you keep getting better and better, you eventually feel like a sifu master. You just have to put in the effort, and trust me, it’s absolutely worth it. Effortlessly and stylishly dismantling the enemies and bosses you used to die to countless times, is one of the most satisfying things this game offers -and it really boosts the replayability too. Chasing a better run, trying to beat the game at the lowest possible age, or just perfecting your skills keeps pulling you back in. I recommend starting on the standard difficulty - it's tough, especially in the beginning, but that's exactly what makes your progress feel so rewarding. And once you've conquered that, give the hardest difficulty a go. It makes the whole experience feel fresh again (enemies and bosses have new combos for example) and adds a ton of replay value. Add all of this to a killer soundtrack, a well-executed story, and a really clever aging system — and you’ve got a masterpiece. 10/10, go buy this game. PS: I've got 184 hours on epic games, platted the game, and did the same on steam - just because I love this game. Also, I downloaded a Daredevil black suit mod and a Batman skin mod, which makes this game even better if you are a fan of either.

one of if not the best fighting game with a good but simple story which is definitely not a bad thing. I haven't had much of a look at the detectiveboard so i don't know how deep the story actaully is.

Sekiro: Martial Arts Edition. The game is balanced around a posture system, deflect, parry, and guard with light and strong attacks as well as an evade. You can unlock skills but many of them are temporary to your "run" of the game because it's a semi roguelike. That said, kick enough ass to earn enough XP and you can unlock them permanently. To say much more would venture into spoiler territory and I went into the game blind, having only seen the box art.

This is THE martials arts game. Mechanically excellent and overall a very good experience. This game, especially on master difficulty (which you really should think as the new game+) will kick your ass, but that makes winning all the more satisfying.

Fun game, excellent animation and sound effects that contribute to a tactile and responsive control. Amazing art. They added Cantonese voiceover some time back, which to me should have come from the start but I'm grateful we have it nonetheless and couldn't imagine playing without it. Free DLCs added new gameplay modes. Mods on Nexus and Patreon.

Great game I've yet to beat. The addition of multiple difficulty levels is MASSIVELY appreciated, I might actually be able to beat it this time. Despite it's difficulty I never feel cheated. The controls are incredibly responsive. I rarely if ever get a moment where I say "that was b$, I couldn't avoid that" it was me. I wasn't quick enough or dodged in the wrong direction from panic. Goes without saying, just look up a YouTube video of the game, but it's visually satisfying too. Stylized graphics and fight animations that are so smooth and over the top, there's no way they won't put a smile on your face.

I usually hate beat 'em ups, but I really enjoy Sifu. The gameplay is enjoyable with timing being very important in dodging and blocking. A good portion of the special attacks are for throwing enemies out of position, or temporarily removing them from the fight via knockdowns so you ca focus down someone else. The game focuses on the Aging system, with each death increasing your age by the number of deaths you've taken prior and then allows you to keep fighting from where you were with no setback in the level or even the current fight. This counter can be reduced by killing tougher enemies, or fully reset by playing very well and reaching a checkpoint. Your age can't decrease unless you play an earlier level, which then resets your run to that stage. So if you're like me and want all the revives you can for later levels you can go back to Level 1 to try to get a run where you don't age at all before moving to Level 2. The bosses are very cool, with each specializing in a certain weapon, and their students specializing in a style that is recognizable as different from other bosses students. Though these students aren't super common. Some of these bosses (Boss 3 & 4) feel a little bit cheap, but I suspect that's just me being not very good at the genre. Every boss has two phases, and phase two always seems to correspond to one of the Wuxing elements, with the only one I'm unsure about being Boss 5, as I've not yet fought them. You spend XP to unlock attacks, with each unlock adding to a counter. When that counter is completely full you permanently unlock the attack, allowing you to return to earlier stages with these attacks unlocked, allowing you an easier time getting a perfect run. Soon I was running through level 1 and 2 with maybe one to three deaths total. The art style in this game is outstanding, especially in the latter half of Level 3, and Phase 2 of the bosses. Overall a brilliant game that makes me enjoy a genre I don't often seek out. If you're on the fence I would encourage you to take the chance.

This game's fighting mechanics are so freaking fun, it has a very high skill ceiling, but you'll feel the progress the more you play. The story is decent, and the replay mode allows for you to make an action movie out of this. Amazing game, a real fighting game with a huge replayability value.

The best combat I've ever experienced in a video game, Not only that but it also has a good story and looks great. Game is a bit tough in the beginning as you get used to how it's played but it's so rewarding once you learn how things work. Anyone giving this game a bad review because it's too hard are a bit salty in my opinion, and they didn't want to put in any time to learn the game. Once you've finished the game you get access to a whole load of arena challenges with modifiers that can change how you play the game completely, they can also be added to the main missions.

7/10
It's a gorgeous game with a steep learning curve. The combat feels good but I wish it was more fluid when dodging and parrying. I don't like how spongy the bosses and some enemies are. I think it's a good game but personally I'm not that into fighting games. I wish the enemies had more fighting styles, they all seem to be the same with 3-4 variations. The locations are beautifully crafted and unique. The progression is a bit confusing IMO. It's not like a standard rogue-like with permanent upgrades. It's You, the player who gets better.

MECHANICS: Best fighting mechanics of any game out right now. The combat is actually hard to learn and master, and the first few hours may be quite rage inducing haha. Once you get the hang of the controls and timings, the combat feels so so nice. PROGRESSION/DIFFICULTY: Epic death/progression system which I find to be quite unique, it's a more hardcore approach but isn't overly punishing. The ability unlocks make a huge difference. There are also difficulty levels that you can select, so far I've found the standard difficulty to be quite perfect. GRAPHICS & SOUND: Visuals are really nice, has a cool art style that's kinda like Sea of Thieves' texturing style. The sound is even better, super impacting and sets the mood at all times. Playing with headphones highly recommended. OVERALL: Highly recommend for those who love fighting games with a strong learning curve, satisying combos and progression, with great quality visuals and sounds packed into a fun story!

Sifu – A Brutal Ballet of Skill, Style, and Mastery Sifu is one of those games that knows exactly what it wants to be — and it delivers. It’s a modern love letter to classic kung fu cinema, built on a foundation of deep, rewarding combat and unapologetic challenge. If that sounds like your kind of thing, you’re in for one hell of a ride. Let’s start with the combat — it’s easy to learn, but hard to master. You can pick up the basics fairly quickly, but true mastery takes time, practice, and patience. The beauty of Sifu is how rewarding that mastery feels — when you finally flow through an encounter, parrying and countering like a cinematic badass, it’s pure gaming bliss. The game gives you the tools — but it’s on you to sharpen them. The story is barebones, but that’s perfectly fine here. You’re not playing Sifu for a sprawling narrative — you’re here for the journey of growth, both in-game and as a player. What’s presented is serviceable and functional — a simple revenge tale that provides just enough context to frame the action and progression. Difficulty is no joke. On higher settings, Sifu is absolutely punishing, but never unfair. And when you finally overcome that boss or clear that level that was wrecking you before? You feel like an unstoppable force. The sense of accomplishment is immense, and the game strikes that perfect balance of making you earn your victories. Visually, Sifu shines through its environments. Each zone is distinct and dripping with style, feeling like it was ripped straight out of the kung fu films that clearly inspired it. From neon-drenched nightclubs to serene museums, every level offers a unique aesthetic and vibe that keeps the experience fresh and engaging. Outfits are another fun highlight. The game includes some excellent homages — shoutouts to John Wick and Bruce Lee fans — and they fit the tone of the game perfectly. Not only do they look great, but they add a little extra flair as you hone your skills. Perhaps most importantly, Sifu encourages replayability. Unlocking new skills, chasing better runs, and collecting bonuses and outfits gives players a reason to keep coming back. And trust me — once the combat clicks, you’ll want to come back just to push yourself further. Final Verdict: Sifu is a game that demands your respect — and rewards it tenfold. The combat depth, visual style, and satisfying progression make it a standout in the action genre. While the story is simple and the difficulty will turn some players away, for those willing to put in the time, it’s an unforgettable, ass-kicking experience. Rating: 9/10 — a modern kung fu classic in game form. If you’ve got the patience, it’s one of the most rewarding action games out there.

AMAZING COMBAT, LIKE WOW, FEELS REALLY DYNAMIC AND SATISFYING. uhm, the main kinda gimmick though is frustrating, like the more you die, the faster you age, the less abilities may be open to you in the future, the more damage you take. It's like, not quite a rogue? But the elements are rogue enough to really put a damper on the fun I'm having. I'd like it a lot more if this mechanic was entirely reworked. The game is also pretty bad at teaching you how to actually play.

Fairly good game, different than I'm used to. Aging as a consequence is a wild new experience to me. Unlocking skills is not really unlocking until done 5x. Story could have been more fleshed out deeper to evoke some attunement.

Kinda reminds me of Sleeping Dogs game. Story is short, arena is hell To finish this game with all achievements you need skill You will cry, you will die all by those hits Don't you yet give up and call it quits Once you master the skills and smash your keyboard hard enough You finish the game and say to yourself "Maan this ain't that tough" I am coming from yakuza and tekken side, so this wasn't that of hell to me. Liked it. Price - Better to buy it on sale or get it on Epic games *winks*

If you read the negative reviews, you will know if the game is for you. The game has a pretty high skill floor and a very high skill ceiling. You're encouraged to rerun stages to get your age down and skills added, but you become so fluid in the levels that a rerun doesn't take long. The first run through of a stage is a great experience though. You will lose in this game, quite a lot in fact. And that is the fun of it. You learn the boss and you can return and dance with them to get them down without dying. The groups of enemies in Stage 1 that decimate you on your first play through suddenly can't touch you when learn how the game works. You're punished heavily for mistakes and rewarded for good play. The movement and combat and layout also lends itself to having fun with reruns, in that you can constantly tackle levels in different ways. The sound design is lovely. The graphics though, are masterclass. The devs have created a game that is stylized perfectly. It's not hyper realistic, but you don't want this game to be. You want it to be obvious what is happening so you aren't getting hit because you had a hard time visually. But the style of the gameplay is also quite beautiful as well. It's impressive how this game turned out. I did play this game initially, and put it down after about 60 minutes from frustration and a lack of interest. I came back a year later, put over a dozen hours in within a couple days, and managed to finish the story and start post-story content. It's a game that one day, may very well suck you in. Arenas are a great addition, too. It's a 10/10 game, but you do have to enjoy failure.

i know it's kinda late.. but it took me this long to get somewhat decent in the game, and yet still haven't completed the game.. ffs.. game is hard esp. if you're like me, who's not used to the controller.. although it's fun when you improve. anyway, game runs smoothly. there's still minor bugs and could crash sometimes, but it's negligible. so if you're looking for a challenging game, definitely try this out.

Sifu is a masterclass in beat 'em up game design. It's easy to pick up but challenging to truly master, offering exceptional replay value. The game strikes a perfect balance between storytelling, visual artistry, and fluid hand-to-hand combat, delivering an experience where every element complements the next. The innovative "age on death" mechanic adds a compelling twist to both gameplay and narrative.
