Play this with family and friends, but prepare to lose them.

The premise is deceptively simple. You and up to three friends control cartoonish chefs in increasingly absurd kitchen layouts, preparing meals to meet incoming orders. Chop onions, boil pasta, plate tacos, wash dishes—sounds easy, right? Now imagine doing all of that on a ship that tilts back and forth, on trucks moving down a highway, or in a haunted kitchen that splits in two. That’s Overcooked in a nutshell: it gives you basic tasks, then throws every possible obstacle between you and culinary success. Coordination is key. Success requires shouting orders, handing off ingredients, and moving in sync. But more often than not, Overcooked devolves into hilarious chaos—players bumping into each other, throwing food into the trash by mistake, or watching helplessly as a pot catches fire. Overcooked truly shines in local co-op. Whether you’re playing with family, friends, or brave strangers, it's one of the few games that makes teamwork both essential and constantly challenging. The joy doesn't come from perfection—it comes from almost losing everything, then clutching a 3-star rating at the last second. However, playing solo is less rewarding. The game technically allows for single-player by swapping between chefs, but the multitasking quickly becomes overwhelming and less fun. Overcooked was designed to be played together—and it’s clear. The game’s visual style is colorful and cartoonish, which fits the tone perfectly. Kitchens are vibrant and easily readable despite the on-screen chaos, and character animations add personality to each little chef. The music is upbeat and frantic, matching the rising tension of a dinner rush, and the sound effects—especially the panicked sizzle of an overcooked meal—are spot-on. The first few levels are a breeze and perfect for onboarding new players. But Overcooked doesn’t stay easy for long. As new recipes, hazards, and environmental mechanics are introduced, the game demands more precision and faster reflexes. For some, this ramp in difficulty is welcome and keeps the game fresh. For others, it can be overwhelming. That said, Overcooked rarely feels unfair—it challenges your coordination more than your reflexes. Overcooked is a brilliant example of how a simple concept, executed with charm and polish, can create an unforgettable gaming experience. It’s as much about communication and teamwork as it is about cooking, and its ability to generate laughter (and maybe a few friendly arguments) makes it a couch co-op classic. Pros: -Addictive, fast-paced gameplay -Perfect for local multiplayer -Whimsical art and sound design -Hilarious, unpredictable chaos Cons: -Not well-suited for solo play -Difficulty may frustrate casual players -Some kitchens feel more annoying than challenging If you're looking for a game that tests your friendships and your reflexes, Overcooked serves up the perfect dish. Just don’t blame the game if your team falls apart over a burned burger. Rating: 8/10

The most stressful 15 minutes of my life. I can absolutely see the appeal but if you possess any kind of anxiety disorder do not even consider buying or playing this game. if you don't possess an anxiety disorder, Overcooked will give you one.

A very good multiplayer game, pretty much solely inspiring a whole subgenre of similar chaotic co-op games. I only ever played with two people, but the dynamic works well even then. There's just enough different stuff going on even with the core loops to make it impossible to get into a constant rhythm, which is an exceptional move to keep you frantic and constantly communicating, something which is then escalated further with creative and strange levels with disruptive mechanics. My only real flaw is that (for a 2-player experience at least) the final level is an enormous and frustrating difficulty spike which we ended up giving up on because the time limit and some other random mechanics frankly felt unfair. Which was a real downer when we'd had such a good time with the rest of the game.

I tried playing Overcooked, but honestly, it’s just not my thing. The fast-paced, chaotic gameplay feels more stressful than fun, and instead of enjoying it, I found myself getting frustrated. I get that it’s meant to be a party game, but the constant shouting and pressure to multitask perfectly kind of ruin the experience for me. If you’re not into super hectic co-op games that require tight coordination, this probably won’t be for you. Personally, I prefer games where I can actually relax and think, not feel like I’m working in a real kitchen during rush hour.
