A pleasant and addictive city-builder puzzler with attempts at deck-building, roguelike and narrative. If you like meditative puzzles and like the visual style, you will like Technotopia. The game could have been something more if the authors had improved the plot, reworked the deck-building and fully implemented the ready-made roguelike elements. Alas, now it is just a puzzle. Deck-building lacks the most basic elements. Removing cards, discarding your hand for it to work. Most of the cards are added to the deck randomly and as a result, you have almost no control over the deck. The plot is weak, absurd in places and simply short. It is there only to create some semblance of a "campaign". I have nothing more to add here. As for the roguelike, the progression is very weak in the game. You have no control over the starting setup and don't even know the rules for accruing "experience". Gradually, you are given new cards that are not much different from the old ones, they give small bonuses and add a couple more to the starting deck. That's all the progression. In addition, the game is quite short to get bored. Even knocking out all the achievements will not take much time. 6 viruses out of 10.

For it's value, it's a great game. Their is a nice story and with the basic mechanics this will get you going pretty fast. It really is a rogue-like, puzzle builder. Each run, has a limited time, since the upkeep costs are going to crash you at some point, You get XP from each run and you move on. I won't catogorise this as a city builder, since it misses the depth's of classic elements, like citizen-tiers, professions and production chains. With the progressive unlocking of achievement and the campaing, this game will keep you entertained till you finish the campaign. Small downside is the last achievement; this can be a bit of a grind together with luck.

It's a unique city-building game... I will always love games of "balance" and making a lot of trade-offs, especially between different factions all vying for your attention. Hoping for future updates, maybe to support an endless / sandbox mode with more quests involved.

Really great game! I didn't expect to like this game as much as I do, but it won me over. Fantastic game with gorgeous art. The basic gameplay is simple to learn, but tricky to do well. The story is well written and engaging. Highly recommended.

This is such an easy game to get hooked on. It has a fun story to get you interested and playing, and then you can just play and see how big you can stretch your city each time. The techno-art-deco style is super fresh and fun looking.

Maybe a little short on variety of mechanics but nonetheless an addictive little tile-based puzzle game.

GORGEOUS art. I love this cyberpunk art deco Metropolis mashup. Easy to learn and play, and very forgiving when you "lose," keeping unlocked buildings and trying again. The storyline ends too early for me; it feels like we get two juicy chapters from a much longer saga. Even so, I was obsessed with this game while it lasted.
