Aoba's vibrant cyberpunk world is one of contrasts: high-tech virtual reality battles versus street gang turf wars, ultra-exclusive luxury resorts and tiny junk shops. The choices you make will shape the path of Aoba's journey into the dark secrets lurking beneath the glossy sheen of the city.

Revisiting this game as an adult after basically scavenging the dark web for a translation plus the uncensored patch back in 2014 sure does bring back memories lmao. Aoba will forever be my goat. 5/5

if i had a nickel for every time there was a d*ck-biting scene in DMMD, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happens twice

what is right, and what is wrong… that is decided only by the human heart.
you will hear lots of people who play this game talking about how much of a yaoi fan they are and that is why they like it, but leaving it at that could be considered a tragedy.
DMMD has a ton of triggering content, like rape, attempted rape, dubious consent, violence, abuse, torture etc.. even if you have no triggers, some of the scenes are just purely unsettling to watch, so this is visual novel is not for everyone. your mental health is more important than seeing two dudes get it on.
DMMD is about a young man Aoba Seragaki, that works as a junk shop clerk at a Junk Shop Heibon, lives with his grandmother, and is accompanied by his allmate ('robotic dog') Ren. Aoba lives out his days in peace, despite being friends with some of the leaders of street gangs, he isnt really interested nor involved in the fighting-as-entertainment thing. one day he is dragged against his will into a fight in a popular virtual reality game Rhyme, and discovers a hidden ability that starts to disrupt his peaceful life. and when his friend, thats also a leader of a popular Rib team, Dry Juice, finds himself the latest victim of strange disappearances, Aobas life takes even more of a turn for the dramatic.
and even without the sexual content, this game is worth a play.
sure, this game is sexually explicit, and they could have just left it at that and it would have been a fine game, but fortunately, they didnt, and they went beyond. (if they did, i would have never played it. i actually did play it purely because of the character developments T_T)
the storyline is done phenomenally well. the writting isnt too complex, its rather simplistic, so simple its actually quite predictable if you think ahead what could possibly happen. i managed to guess most of the games twists, surprises and endings as i played. even so, it didnt ruin the fun of figuring out and the twists in the endgame still managed to be truly awesome. everything is easy to understand and once you get down to the roots of everyone, you will feel so much closer to them. the vn has a strange feel, and the devs did a very great job at immersing the player in the story beyond just reading.
Aoba is in no way a self-insert protagonist, but a fully developed character in the end. the story is about his journey to accept himself as a whole, to figure his past and the origins of his powers.. it explores various themes through his journey and his character undergoes significant development in different routes. he, and everyone, are constantly put in situations that forces them to confront their issues, and Aoba is forced to make choices that impact his relationships.
there are 4 routes you have to go through in order to unlock the true ending, which is a wild ride, despite the fact that they are relatively short, so unfortunately, the romances feel rushed, especially for the love interests who were strangers to Aoba when the story began. thats why in my opinion Koujakus route felt the most rewarding. i think hes arguably the best match for Aoba, I just wish his route featured his best aspects more.
it hurt me a little when most of the time was spent chasing Koujaku while he ran from Aoba to chase his own past, but it gets really good when we learn more about his past. there were conflicts that were created already deep from their childhood and then were resolved, and it just makes sense for me why would they be the best match, they know each other the best.
each route takes roughly 3-4 hours to finish if you actually read it, both endings included, and i love that it takes quite some time to get to know everyone, and their lives and dark secrets and how they overcome their painful pasts. -though for the characters that were strangers to Aoba at the start, their routes could have been longer and developed a little better so they wouldnt feel as rushed.- and Aoba, who while figuring out his own shit and problems, is willing to stick by the people he cares about and help them in any way he can.
i loved the cast, the only one i didnt care for one bit about was Mink. i skipped the entirety of his route because i honestly didnt wanna read that 😭 its disappointing when Mizuki could have had a route instead of him (i know he has one in reconnect but still.). He has zero romance and the pieces i did read in his route were just brutal..
definitely for those that like non-con 🤷♂️.
at first, i wasnt exactly sure how would i access those routes. i just went in blind and before i knew it i ended up in Noizs route. after finishing it, i thought that maybe i dont get to choose the routes and that ill just get to them one by one? because i didnt get a single choice to think about ANY characters but nope, later i was given by my friend a guide how to get those choices, and access the routes all very easily. you see, the choices made during the common route (the very beginning) are actually important for deciding which route you end up on, which i didnt realize ':D, i just went with whatever i felt like going with.
if you picked the right choices, you get to "think" about a character and that makes you go in their route, its an easy access, so i recommend searching that up.
the bad and good endings were both rewarding for me, sometimes i liked the bad ones more than the good ones and sometimes the other way around..
i deliberately tried to go for the bad endings first, because the good endings felt more rewarding that way for me.
in the bad endings, the love interests potential for violence is brought up to the surface, and then is healed in the good ending.
i liked how you could have made different choices along the way and you wouldnt get locked out of the good or bad ending. DMMD has a very interesting design choice, that for each character there is a mechanic and the way you approached it gave you an ending, i liked that alot, thats what actually impacted the endgame of their routes, not the choices you made along the way.
in each route there is atleast one sex scene and i loved that they were there to actually deepen the character development, not just to satisfy the fans, they were actually relevant. (in my opinion Clears was the best, solely carried with the dialogue and the meaning for me...)
i immediately felt in love with the music. its amazing, it has a nice retro, 8-bit feel to it, which fits well with the overall mood of the game, and each character has their own song at the end 💜 GOATBED is truly a goat 💜 the artwork and character designs in the game are just as high quality. voice acting is also so well done T_T.
after you 100% the game, you will get these linernotes from the people who worked on the game, which i absolutely LOOVE when games have. its a great touch to me :).
i really hope for reconnect to come aswell on steam.
what someone considers the light, may actually be dark to someone else. to want only light without ever knowing the dark… one cant do that.

wow, yaoi jesus is real
this game ended up surprising me in a lot of ways, and i def recommend playing it if you want some angst alongside the obvious other content, though heed the trigger warnings because it gets pretty heavy at times.
i rank the routes as so:
#1. clear (MWAH MWAH I LOVE YOU)
#2. ren
#3. koujaku
#4. noiz
.......... i don't even want to include mink on here lmfao (i do not like him nor did i find his route redeeming in the slightest)
i like koujaku and noiz equally but something about koujaku's childhood friends to lovers/womanizer to simp for aoba pipeline are just 🙏. i also cried for like 30 minutes towards the end of clear's route, which caught me off guard bc i wasn't expecting the story to take that turn T-T. very angsty, yum.
i also had the patch from jast's website (HIGHLY recommend 🤩 worth every penny tbh!!!)
the game touches on a lot of themes that i think are still relevant today, and even seemed ahead of its time in some aspects despite coming out in 2012. these include topics such as identity, sense of self, corruption, government, trauma, etc.
the soundtrack for this game is also pretty goated, but the tracks i loved the most were both by itou kanako. tears (koujaku's bad ending) and immer sie (clear's bad ending) just had such a gritty and raw feeling to them that coincided with the endings and their themes well, and i found myself searching for them on spotify right away (unfortunately only the 8-bit chiptune versions are on there 💔). she also did their songs for the drama cds, and those songs also go SO hard :D
if you're looking for more dmmd content there is the stage play (the official cosplayers look amazing, and the dance scenes are beautifully choreographed), as well as the sequel game which is a bit more explicit, though it's not available on steam.
definitely buy this game if you're interested!! very happy i 100% it as well :D

Finally i've play this... I was into Dramatical Murder when i was a kid but never played the game before now.
The art style is very cool and the soundtrack is just perfect and goes so well with the DMMD world. (love track #24 the most)
There is this specific aesthetic to this game i just love.
Multiples endings with each character that usually involves at least one good and one bad end. Pretty easy to get them as you have the ability to skip during the game so you don't have to endure the first part before each route all over again. You can also save any time you want.
Most of the bad endings are actually depressing
Though, i feel like the scenarios with each charatcers as soon as you start their route goes way too fast, their relatioship with Aoba goes suddenly from 1 to 10. I truly was expecting something more developped and they could definitly have went further with it.
Anyway i love Aoba he's one of my favorite characters af all time he is so cute and i love his design so much.
My note is : 8/10
Now all i need is to find a way to play re:connect !!!

I will never get over Clear. Instead of mind there is Clear. I will sing my praises of Clear until my lungs give out, but I wouldn't dare stop; I'll compose those breathless wheezes and flap my lips in a melody of morse code continuing to venerate Clear. When I finally faint and my head falls to bust against the asphalt--the last of thousands of busts I've dedicated to Clear--My mashed brains and blood will splatter and stain the ground in the shape of Clear's name. Even then my efforts would only convey the tip of the iceberg, the shallows skimming the coasts rather than the bottomless depths of my astronomical adoration of Clear. My immortal soul may likely be cast down to hell--but I'd scrape and scratch myself to shreds clawing up in climb over the brimstone cliffs just for the unrealizable hope for the flake of my tattered, sinner's soul mingling with the air filtering through Clear's gas mask. And let me be direct, my greatest wish would be for Clear to lose his shoes--so the flayed flesh of my feet could serve as their unworthy replacement.
Clear. Clear. Clear.
...
Clear.

If you enjoy Yaoi games, specifically visual novels that can have a good lore story to it, especially since the Anime isn't available anymore in most places except Crunchyroll, then you'll love this game, though you'll have to be vigilant on what choices you pick if you're aiming for a specific route :))

Really fun visual novel!!! Too bad all the sex scenes are censored or cut out, but there's a patch on JAST site where you can get those scenes in the game too, and THE GOOD ENDING OF MINK WAS NOOOTT GOOD AT ALL </3 still loved it though and i recommend this game to bl vn fans. (also wondering why Aoba doesn't have aids yet)

Despite the game being older, the visuals hold up super well to this day and the entire game is incredibly visually pleasing to look at. The dynamic characters really suck you into the plot as time goes by and you really start to care about each of them. Though the story seems confusing and at times even a bit bland at first, after a while it's intoxicating. Once you get really immersed into this world, you're pretty much stuck lol. I really love this game and I'd highly recommend!

I've seen the anime based on this game already and thought I'd try the game. I didn't think it would be engaging since I already knew the basic story, but the story is more engaging than I thought it was gonna be. Can't wait to play all the routes for all the characters.

This might be my fault for not looking at the content warnings before playing, but there was a scene at the beginning that actually made me stop playing.
Not for me, but I'm for sure it could be for others.

After spending 30+ hours on this game (Steam + JAST USA), I can honestly say it’s been an absolute emotional rollercoaster - in the best way.
For a BL visual novel from 2012, it’s amazing to see characters with real depth and personality instead of just being gooner bait or cutesy but boring love interests.
Secret endings were peak! <3

LOVE the game!!!! The plot is actually good, and not just s*x scenes shoved into your face! but, I'm still kind of disappointed that the full thing for Noiz and Aoba in the hospital wasn't shown, since the screenshots of the game were showing you it.
But I would recommend for yoai lovers!!!!!!!!! 😊😊😊
And wtf is mink, the UNESOSARY r*pe was not needed! but I don't really hate mink, wouldn't recommend to people who dont like rape/nearly rape.
Good game! love it😍❤🍙
