Total War: WARHAMMER II expertly blends the signature grand strategy and real-time battle mechanics of the Total War series with the rich, fantastical world of Games Workshop’s Warhammer universe. Developed by Creative Assembly, this installment significantly expands the scale and depth of its predecessor by introducing four distinct, richly detailed factions—each with unique lore, units, and gameplay styles—that immerse players in a sprawling campaign across the vibrant continents of Ulthuan, Naggaroth, and beyond. The game succeeds not only as a deep strategy experience but also as a compelling narrative journey, full of political intrigue, mythical creatures, and epic conflicts. The campaign is an ambitious narrative-driven sandbox where players vie for control of the Great Vortex, an arcane phenomenon central to the world’s fate. Each faction offers radically different mechanics: the High Elves focus on diplomacy and magic, the Dark Elves thrive on raiding and subterfuge, the Lizardmen bring powerful ancient beasts and rituals, while the Skaven excel in numbers and treachery. This diversity encourages varied strategies and replayability. The campaign map is alive with dynamic events, quests, and faction rivalries that enrich the strategic layer without overwhelming newcomers. Combat in WARHAMMER II is where the game truly shines. The tactical battles are a spectacle of fantastical units clashing—dragons soaring overhead, monstrous creatures tearing through ranks, and spellcasters unleashing devastating magic. Unit variety and the interplay between melee, ranged, cavalry, and magic units create deep tactical options, requiring players to adapt to enemy compositions and terrain. The game also benefits from improved AI and smoother animations compared to its predecessor, making battles feel more fluid and challenging. Visually, WARHAMMER II is stunning, with lush, diverse landscapes and intricately designed units that bring the Warhammer world to life. The soundtrack and voice acting further elevate the immersive experience, matching the epic scale and tone of the battles and storylines. The user interface has been refined for better clarity, although the sheer number of features and mechanics can be daunting for new players. One of the game’s highlights is its continuous post-launch support, including expansions and DLCs that add new factions, campaigns, and gameplay systems, greatly expanding the already vast content. However, some criticism has been leveled at the DLC model, as key factions are locked behind paid content, which can fragment the player base and increase the entry cost. Overall, Total War: WARHAMMER II stands as a benchmark in blending deep, strategic gameplay with a rich fantasy setting. It offers an epic, rewarding challenge for both Total War veterans and fans of Warhammer lore. While its complexity may present a learning curve, the game’s breathtaking battles, diverse factions, and engrossing campaigns make it a must-play for anyone seeking a grand strategy experience that’s as imaginative as it is strategic. This is the best Total War: Warhammer entry in the series. It's relatively balanced, with some fun factions, and nothing too overwhelming like the 3rd installment. Great work, CA.

If you like warhammer and total war, you will likely like this the game is basickly an expansion to the first one, at full price The dlc from warhammer 1 carries over. good and bad, cus not getting warhammer 1 means you are not getting acces to the dlc from 1 the amount of dlc does in many if not most cases seem like cash grabs, but even if you dont get it, the ai still will. A perfect showcase of fucking horrible RTS design in almost every way imaginable, if I had to sit here and list everything other TW games have over this one I'd be here all year, thankfully, the game's saving grace is that it's too big to fail, somehow, even with the absolute dogshit braindead AI coded by a drunk chimpanzee, and the blatant cheating that results in you being railroaded to use the worst, most boring fucking ''tactics'' imaginable (sit around and shoot stuff or doomstack) in order to have a chance at the least fun aspect of the game, the campaign, somehow it's still got enough cool shit in it that I can gaslight myself into thinking I'm actually enjoying the ''challenge'' of having to deal with another 13 doomstacks worth of low tier garbage being teleported into whichever area of my realm doesn't have 50 quadrillion warp tokens worth of troops watching over it.

Still great graphics and fantastic battles/sieges. If you are into fantasy stuff, this game is a dream come true. Tons of races and units. Each unique hero has his little custom missions, which adds to the replayability. The issue is the same as for any 4x game - middle to late campaign turn time takes foooorever, which artificially extend the game. You pretty much wait 60% of the time. Also city building and economy stuff is just too simple, but I guess It is all about war in WH universe.

I personally have been playing Total War games since the original Rome: Total War, and while some of the lesser titles may be a miss depending on your historical hyperfocus, the fantasy titles of Total War re always a hit for me. I fully recommend all three Warhammer: Total War games!

The scale of this game is very impressive when you first look at it. (Let's put aside the amount of money you have to spend on DLC to get this experience) This is not a good thing as the campaign is very slow and grindy. For a good portion of it you will only be commanding one army as it takes forever to get your economy rolling, this is very problematic as this game favours defence. You will encounter cities with huge garrisons which cost the AI nothing and if they have an army nearby you will need more than one stack in order to take it. Trying to starve a settlement out is near pointless as it takes like 15 turns which you don't have especially as mentioned before you won't have many armies to command for the majority of the game. What can I say after putting over 100 hours into this game? Well it's just a dull game. I tried playing it and giving all the factions a go however most of the time I just got bored and quit. It's by no means a hard game but just very boring. Total war has really gone downhill in the past decade. If you want to play a good recent total war game I would recommend Three Kingdoms. If you want to go for the classics I would recommend Shogun 2 or Rome 2. Stay away from this. DLC alone makes this game unattractive.

It's a decent although a bit shallow strategy game. The reason I am not recommending is that if you only buy Warhammer II and not Warhammer I, you are locked out of the Mortal Empires campaign and have to play the Vortex campaign. The problem with the Vortex campaign is that it suffers from crucial game design mistakes, specifically that you are indirectly incentivized to not do the story quests because they increase the difficulty of the campaign as you do them. I was not aware of this when I bought the game and I recommend you to look into CREATIVE ASSEMBLY's DLC schemes before you consider buying any of their recent games.

Love the game, but hate the price of entry... Getting into 2 or 3 requires buying DLC for the previous entries to get access to all of the races and lords, which is a hefty price point. Even with Summer sale pricing, it cost near $100 to get all of it. Granted it is not a hard requirement to play, but I like to be able to play and fight all the different factions in a playthrough. End of day though, game is so much fun. I play only singleplayer and pause a whole lot, so no competitive for me, but still loads of fun

I can recommend the first one, maybe this one, but it starts getting heavy on the micromanagement by this game, Warhammer 3 cant decide what it wants to be, this ones a little better, not much though

Too many random battles you need to do, I just want to focus on the map and strategies, not have some pop up battle that's so difficult to complete. TWW1 did not have this feature.

I do believe, I enjoy this game. Dinosaurs riding on the backs of other dinosaurs using lasers from the skies will always be awesome! Rats with ww1 weapons and nukes... enough said.

Simply excellent, one of the best total wars there is! This game expands on the previous title with great lords, factions and campaigns, the Vortex campaign is a great narrative experience. The lords this game offers are great for Warhammer 3. I'd definitely recommend this even for players looking to play Warhammer 2 and not the Immortal Empires campaign for Warhammer 3.

Yeah, it's addicting, it's a lot of fun But it's long tl;dr Many aspects are done well and are nicely fleshed-out. Army compositions, battles, unique factions posing new challenges (not just copy-pasting previous factions with a new skin). This all keeps the game interesting and fun. However, games simply take too long and the map is too big. Victory conditions can cause you to travel literally across the map, and the game mechanics are not well optimized for this long-range travel. Go play it The game does a lot. You have many customization options, able to choose your own armies, test out different types of positioning, and many different enemies, troops, and strategies. All of this is does very well. It's so much fun to figure out something that works, build something balanced, and go and absolute obliterate everyone. As well as the scaling. The game does do a nice job of keeping you in check, though. Even with late-game units, armies, and defences, the "vagrant" armies the game throws at you still pose a nice challenge. but the game is long. very very long. It can take you tens of hours to reach a nice point in the game where you are secure and have most things under control. But this is barely where win conditions begin to take place. You still have to finish every last part of the condition off. I think this is just my personal gripe with these games, they are just too big. Too many people, goals are across the map, and long-range travelling is simply abysmal. God-forbid you want to have two armies always next to one another for support in case an ambush happens, you'll have to manually move them all the time. The game does a lot and it does a lot right. It's a lot of fun to field armies and control the battles yourself, especially when auto-resolve hits you with the "valiant defeat". However, it is not without its flaws. Games take an excruciating amount of time, and the map is simply too big. Reduce the size, make it so that victory conditions can be met before maxing everything out, and this makes for a very intense battle game. Go play it

Gameplay Mechanics: 9/10 Narrative: 7/10 Graphics: 8/10 Sound and Music: 9/10 Replayability: 10/10 Innovation: 8/10 Total War: Warhammer II builds on the strong bones of the first game and delivers one of the best fantasy strategy experiences ever made. With unique factions, vibrant maps, and epic tactical battles, it stands as a high point in the Total War franchise. Gameplay mechanics are excellent. Each faction plays differently, not just in units but in campaign systems—Skaven have food and under-empire mechanics, Dark Elves use slavery and Black Arks, High Elves gain influence and spy networks. Battles are dynamic, with monsters, magic, and artillery mixing with classic Total War formations. The Vortex campaign adds pressure and pacing, even if not everyone loves the scripted race-to-the-finish mechanic. Score: 9/10. Narrative is better than average for a Total War game. The Vortex gives each campaign a central purpose, and Legendary Lords bring personal goals and rivalries. It’s not deep storytelling, but there’s enough flavor and structure to keep campaigns feeling alive. Score: 7/10. Graphics are sharp. The map is colorful and varied, with lush jungles, vast deserts, and twisted chaos lands. Units look great in motion—watching a dragon torch a line of infantry or a giant wreak havoc never gets old. Score: 8/10. Sound and music are a big strength. Each faction has distinct voice lines and ambient audio, while the soundtrack adds atmosphere and tension in both campaign and combat. Spells and siege engines hit with real weight. Score: 9/10. Replayability is top-tier. With a huge variety of factions, Legendary Lords, campaign styles, and custom battles—not to mention Mortal Empires and mods—there's no shortage of fresh ways to play. Score: 10/10. Innovation isn’t groundbreaking, but the level of asymmetry between factions and the improvements to pacing and design show clear evolution. It doesn’t just iterate—it refines the fantasy Total War formula into something great. Score: 8/10. In short, Total War: Warhammer II is a must-play for strategy and fantasy fans alike. Massive, deep, and endlessly replayable—it’s Total War at its most fun.

Peak of the trilogy. Best balance of content vs stability compared to the other two (TW:WH3 has plenty of the former and none of the latter, TW:WH1 has a bit of both but less than TW:WH2). There's lots to be criticized about the amount of expensive DLC but that's true of any Total War game in the last decade. On the merits of the game itself this is one of the best in the franchise.

Sorry to sound like a whiner but the magic mechanic is a-bso-lu-te BS in this game. I played strategy/action games for decades, and never witnessed anything that ridiculous. You can be doing great, spent hours preparing a sound economy, balanced army, etc. and get wiped out in SECONDS by a monstruous dragon supported by magic spells, killing at least half of your army before you can even make a dent in them. I am amazed this game got so popular it is visually striking but virtually unplayable if you do not spend years learning every buff, debuff, by heart, every unit, every strategy. It is just not fun, sorry. I am a nerd already I dont want to become an incel hermitic nerd to have a chance at winning against an enemy using magic, absolutely mental

Soooo I would be playing 3 but 2 has WAY better graphics IMO. Way more true to the Warhammer-feel, 3 has no grit. Mortal Empires is a 10/10 Warhammer experience.
