This is fun CIV clone. It ticks all those boxes when it comes to 40k. There is no peace only war. Graphics are solid for what it is. All the troops you could want and a few that you don't. Solid platform has never crashed on me. I have gotten every DLC to play and fight all the races. I enjoy the game can be beat by either killing all everyone or by story arc. The story arc isn't that great no true cut scenes. overall 7/10

One of the best tabletop-like experiences with the added feature of base building. Great variety in units and factions.

Takes hours to learn, many more to master. some things are not explained properly. The UI can be confusing. Pick it up when it goes on sale for $4 and play with friends. Veterans of this genre will pick up mechanics quickly

While I don't like the fact that so much of the 40K-verse is locked behind paywalls, I will still pay for it because this is fun.

I'm playing this on the easiest setting, I'm just getting swarmed by countless barbarians who overpower all of my units by a large margin. I've been into 40k since Space crusade & I know the lore, I know how units should fair against each other. Dev's please fix your stupid game. The DLC pricing is horrendous too.

There's a lot to say about this game, and it is a fun waste of time that sucks you in for hours. But the pricing is insane. To have the complete game with every DLC you're looking at around $120-150, and this is just not worth that. Besides that, here is what you need to know: The good - I hate 4x strategy games, but I found myself enjoying this one. It fits the 40k universe really well. - The free play mode offers a lot of adjustment to resource and difficulty sliders so that you can take the time to get a feel for each faction. - The modding community has done a massive amount with this one, and filled the workshop with a huge amount of expanding content in addition to balance adjustments. The bad - Click locks are a nightmare that turn me into a completely apeshit animal. A single miss-click will not only fuck you up, but it will play out the entire turn doing it while you sit and wait for things to go disastrously. Considering that the developer started their GW licensing with 40k Armageddon, which featured an -undo- button to prevent exactly this kind of bullshit, I'm socked they opted not to include it in this game. - Movement pathing, as above. Makes me fly into a rage because sometimes you can't tell which direction your units are going to move to a clicked spot. You can't see ridge lines on the map so sometimes the hex right next to you will require moving in the most retarded path possible, and sometimes your units just opt to take a path right through bad terrain, mine fields, and enemies, and once you've made the click, that's it, you're committed to it. - Some DLC content feels like it should have been part of the core game. Land raiders not being part of the Space Marine unit list from the start is like a WW2 game without Nazis. On an ending note, this game requires a saintly level of patience to put up with its flaws. I've already sunk the money in it, so now I feel obligated to enjoy the damn game whether I do or not. If you have a short temper, I would suggest picking up another title.

feels like t he table top when every thing is at its strongest, idk if that is 100% accurate because difficulty ratings and I definitely max out all the extra options, this game is basically a low tire city/factory building game with military focus hidden behind warhammer skin, the maps are randomize which depending on your choosen game setting can leave you with a huge open field or a tiny choke point after choke point battle as you survive on a tiny island only connected by a single strand of tiles to the main land as you helplessly try to survive air assault from larger opponents. also mods, so many mods

It's sort of like endless legend. Fairly simple as far as 4x goes, but it's good fun to play for a couple hours.

Fun but seems like you run out of innovative game play within the first few playthroughs. Maps are functional but nothing to look at. It is really fun to see the units you're familiar with animated even if it's relatively simple.

Definitely one of the best W40K games out there. If you enjoy games like Civilization, or if you are generally just a W40K fan, then it's worth it.

Now I understand why people like 40k so much. A must play for the civilization players who love war. Mod support is NUTS.

What happened to the 40k strategy games? The last one I actually enjoyed was DoW2. The rest are mere shadows of other better games. And the monetisation is off the charts, with DLC that adds frak all, and that should have just been in the damn game TBH. At least Owlcat is knocking out of the park on the RPG scene, and I hear Space Marine 2 is a banger....

I think the game is very well thought out to some extent (Minus the Militarum faction, holy, what were you thinking?) and at some ends is really enjoyable. The gameplay is good and coherent. Most units, the research tree, and all the weapons are very descriptive. The lore fiend part of me really liked the little segments of lore on the various points throughout a match. Chapters are a fun sort of "questline" for each faction and break up the constant tunnel vision and tend to give you some sort of reward for finishing stages of them. All the factions I've played so far: Astra Militarum, Adeptus Astartes, Adeptus Sororitas, Chaos Space Marines, and Necrons have all been interesting in their own seperate ways and the only one I disliked was the Militarum. I would like to point out one annoyance I had. The steam workshop modding is very, nitpicky with what works and what doesn't. Constant refreshes of "X mod doesn't work and caused the game to crash" then my steam auto refreshes it's files, I boot the game back up and it disables all the mods. Why...? Why waste my time with that? Now I have to re-do my mods folder and take out mods that I was honestly exited for (The inquisition is a good example). So do be careful what mods you add to your list. This is honestly the first time I've seen a game struggle this much with steam workshop despite having it as an option.

gameplay is good, DLC content makes the game more fun but an extra cost.

One more turn consistently becomes two more hours. Plays like Civ, but you're bugged Ghandi and there will be no peace. A lot of factions are DLC only, so grab them on sale. Orks, Necron, Impotent Guard and Space Marines are in the base game. Every faction plays a little different which helps with variety. Available to play through GeForce Now.

Very Fun! No need to be well versed in WarHammer 40K lore to jump right in and succeed.

The first turn based Warhammer game I played was Total War 3. I loved it at first but idk what it is about it- it feels unbalanced I guess. Maybe I'm just bad but it feels like you can play for hours and then just get destroyed in a few turns out of nowhere. I've been playing Gladius all day and have loved every minute. It's a lot of fun and slower paced (you can change the pace in settings). The only complaint I have is the Necron's healing ability. It almost feels like they added it in just to make them harder instead of making the AI harder or something like that, if that makes sense. The units will basically completely heal after every round, so if you don't destroy the unit in a round, you could be stuck in a continuous loop trying to kill them. The issue is there are only a few units I've found so far that can do enough damage to them to kill them. Obviously it's just a mechanic of them game but it just feels cheap is what I'm trying to say. Everything else seems to feel balanced and the game is very enjoyable.

Freaking love it! Finally the digital table top version (more or less). It shouldn't have taken this long to get this game but at least it's here now.

Civilization but WH40K. Easiest way to describe it. Establish your Base and take territory. Complete your missions to advance the story. Avoid fighting the Necrons. Attack those who wish to destroy your Stronghold. Avoid Fighting the Necrons. Destroy Enemy Strongholds! You will not destroy the Necrons early. Its fun, don't fight the necrons if you can help it, they're annoyingly strong against most races specially at the start. Many runs have been ended by them. Many more will be ended by them.
