Man, I had a blast with this game. The story was way more engaging than I expected, and the characters? Super cool. Leon’s still smooth as hell, and the whole cast just worked. Gameplay felt super clean and fun. Shooting, dodging, parrying—it all just clicks. The difficulty levels actually made things exciting without being unfair (well, unless a chainsaw dude surprises you outta nowhere). Grinding for achievements was shockingly fun too. Nothing too crazy, just the right amount of challenge. Also, yes—I suplexed monks. Yes, I shot the lake. And yes, “Where’s everyone going? Bingo?” lives rent-free in my head now. 10/10, would rescue Ashley again. Maybe.

Capcom did an incredible job with the Resident Evil 4 Remake. The updated graphics, tighter controls, and darker tone give the classic game new life without losing its charm. It also has great replay value thanks to multiple difficulty modes and in-game challenges that reward points for unlocking collectibles.

when they first announced that resident evil 4 is getting a remake, I was pretty skeptical. Like, seriously, how do you even elevate a classic masterpiece like RE4. But man, they proved me wrong. they absolutely nailed every aspect of this game. RE4 Remake is, hands down, one of the best games I've experienced in recent years, and playing it just It just completely brought back that pure joy and passion I felt for video games when I was a kid. It's that awesome.

Just completed my first run and this game is dope. Easily one of my favorites and clearly had lot of improvements from the OG RE4 mainly the spooky atmosphere. The village chapters are improved with more side missions like merchant requests but faithfully follows the OG version with some minor changes. With ammo being scarce as usual and mobs are a bit buffed but with the melee weapon along with the newly added stealth kills and parry ability is a great help eventhough it breaks when durability goes off unlike the Old game. The entire castle chapters with the cultists gave me heebie-jeebies, plus the Ashleys playthrough had my heartbeat skyrocket. Now comes the main part with Island chapters, I still remember the regeneradors and iron maiden from OG RE4 which gave nightmares when I was a kid, but the regeneradors from this game scared the shit out of me and with the more creepier and darker environment I stopped playing for sometime and had to level up my courage to face them oof. TL;DR, IMO this game is a blast irrespective if you have played older RE4 or not. You'll enjoy this and I rate it at 9.5/10*. It's a bit sad that to play seperate ways you have to buy the DLC seperately and they nerfed Red9s, still a great game. Now I'm off to get all weapons and s+ in pro in my second run hopefully. ***Spoiler alert: There is more backstory for Luis my man, faithful to the OG, he dies in this game as well but here he gets killed by Krauser instead of Saddler( of course we'll avenge him). Wish Luis is a recurring role in future RE saga or atleast playable character.***

Capcom has done a fantastic job modernizing a beloved classic. The game keeps the core of what made the original special : tense combat, memorable characters, and a perfect blend of horror and action, while updating the visuals, controls, and pacing for today’s standards. The overhauled graphics are stunning, bringing new life to the village, castle, and island environments. Gunplay feels tight and responsive, and new mechanics like the knife parry system add a surprising amount of depth to combat. Enemies are aggressive and unpredictable, making every encounter feel dangerous and satisfying. Leon S. Kennedy is as iconic as ever, blending cool confidence with action-hero swagger. And yes you can still suplex Ganados. It’s not just fun, it’s surprisingly effective. Moments like that are part of what make this remake so enjoyable: it doesn’t forget how to have fun amidst all the horror. However, it’s not a perfect remake. Some content from the original was trimmed, most notably the absence of the U-3 boss fight, a creepy and memorable encounter that many fans will miss. While the changes overall benefit the flow and tone of the game, that particular omission stands out for longtime players. Still, what’s here is incredibly polished and fun, with just the right balance of nostalgia and innovation.
Pros:
✔️ Excellent visuals and sound design ✔️ Satisfying and fluid combat ✔️ Smart enemy AI and intense atmosphere ✔️ Leon’s charm and one-liners return ✔️ You can suplex cultists (still amazing)
Cons:
❌ Some content from the original is missing ❌ U-3 boss fight was cut entirely
Final Verdict:
Despite a few omissions, Resident Evil 4 Remake is one of the finest survival horror experiences around and a blueprint for how remakes should be done. A must-play for fans old and new. Now… where’s everyone going? Bingo.

As someone who played the original to death, this version improves almost everything without losing what made it great. Combat is smoother, the pacing is tighter, and the atmosphere is even more intense. It’s both familiar and fresh in the best way. One of the best remakes I've played, well worth it for fans and newcomers alike. 10/10

If there’s one thing this game successfully recaptures from the original, it’s that ease of just playing a little more, offering a versatile and dynamic playground that gives you the feeling there’s always something you haven’t done yet. Or even better: things you have done, but know you could do differently—and that it would probably be a blast to try. The NG+ in this game is so simple and accessible that it’s irresistibly appealing. It’s straightforward and unburdened, distilling the delicious pleasure of revisiting the familiar—yet mechanically recontextualized and rebalanced just enough not to take away the fun, while still giving you the cathartic satisfaction of mastering previously oppressive challenges. Even without your full arsenal, the level of confidence and mastery you’ve acquired lets you access a new dimension—more open and daring—that you probably didn’t even perceive the first time. It’s a testament to how solid and well-designed this experience is. An addictive journey that retains its freshness across repeated runs, rewarding and encouraging constant player improvement and mastery of its mechanics. It’s a reminder that no one needs endless checklists or 500 collectibles to keep players in the game—just satisfying, polished, and rewarding gameplay on its own. So it’s only fair to say that Resident Evil 4 Remake is an outstanding game that displays a level of competency and consistency in its quality that we rarely see today. Brilliantly assembled and richly detailed, supplemented by excellent combat and practically flawless art direction, the game elevates the formula—shifting from a slow-burning, atmospheric, more modest experience to a tightly paced, relatively long chain of brutal and intense encounters against large groups of enemies. It’s no longer about clinging to your resources and creeping through dark, narrow corridors with a flashlight, stumbling into enemies you should probably avoid. Now, it’s about destroying everything in sight, collecting rewards, and improving yourself to faster and harder tackle the next challenge with everything you’ve got. It’s an action game with a horror game veneer, limiting the player just enough to enrich the sense of challenge and friction. The game is very well optimized and has more than enough content. Definitely an excellent purchase for anyone interested in the genre. Easily one of the best and most replayable third-person shooters released in the last 10 years. But... anyway, not everything is perfect. Even though I loved the game and it’s an competent experience in almost every way, for someone who, in recent years—thanks to the blessing that is the RE4 HD Project—rediscovered the joys of revisiting that classic (still incredibly unique), and through a new, more relaxed and critical sensibility (that I didn’t have when I was younger), became able to appreciate the original’s timeless elegance, nuances, absurdities, and vigorous creativity, it’s not hard for me to see that as a remake, this game just doesn’t deliver. It’s an remake that doesn’t bring out the essence of the original. As a cultural brand, it ends up being just a good product—but lacking impact, and that magical touch of brilliance that defined the original. It’s basically soulless. The remake doesn’t present to new audiences what made the original so special. In fact, it deprives them of tasting the most fun and memorable parts of that game. Mechanically the game lacks the original emphasis and tension. The new, freer mobility and fov, did not come paired with an obvious expansion of enemy and environment interactions. They didn’t add anything significantly new, and the strategic subtlety and satisfaction of reliably manipulating enemies in the original was simply lost in the remake’s faster rhythm. You no longer need to consider firerate or reload speed. Inventory management has become practically irrelevant. And creative enemy setups and curveballs that were so common, are painfully absent. The remake doesn’t reward or penalizes you much for taking risks and making mistakes. The difficulty curve and progression aren’t as crisp or meaningful, and most of the game stands out more for how well the mechanics work in isolation, rather than how they interconnect with the game’s other systems. As a result, combat lost that intensity and constant split-second decisions. Beyond that, a lot of content was cut or altered, impoverishing the whole. The game feels much less clear in what it wants to be, and most of its additions—like the crafting system, stealth, and generic sidequests—don’t seem to add anything to the experience, just a lot of unnecessary busywork and backtracking. And then, there's the story... Resident Evil has always had this dichotomy: presenting games designed with elegance and inspiring precision—sharing the stage, in a contrast as subtle as a punch to the face—with some of the dumbest and unintentionally hilarious stories in media. Over time, that became part of the charm. And Resident Evil 4, besides drastically reinventing the franchise in an explosion of creativity, was the first time they fully embraced the stupidity of the premise. The ridiculous and the stylish oozed from the screen with the kind of confidence and madness that could only come from deeply inspired people fully committed to making it as fun as possible. It was a tone that captured a unique blend of Hollywood blockbuster clichés and insane, drug-infused anime theatricality. The level of absurdity and self-aware sense of humor is... pure bliss. So many fun characters. So many iconic lines. And everything is executed with such confidence that, despite being complete nonsense, it all fits perfectly. It’s the glory of stupidity executed with talent and heart. It was fun for the sake of fun. Simply the best kind of trash. The game was a barrage of memorable surprises. You had the feeling they were testing you in every imaginable way. Using every idea. And the remake… basically cut all that. Without putting anything in its place. They tried to "take it seriously" and failed miserably. You see, it was always dumb—and it still is. But now it lacks warmth and style. And somehow, they managed to sound even more incoherent and stupid, despite trying to do the opposite. They ruined every character. From the Merchant to the save screen, everything was harmed, cut or deemphasized. They added the irrelevant and removed what mattered. Leon went from a charming action-hero who delivered one-liners as efficiently as he unwittingly committed crimes, into a stale piece of bread with PTSD... The story was never good, but at least it was fun. Now the game exists in this semi-committed place where they seem to be trying to tell a real story while also being shackled to the framework of the original events, awkwardly trying to inject a spark of comedy. It’s just bland. And much duller than it should be. It’s not an experience that respects the artistic integrity of the original, nor does it capture its essence. It doesn’t bring to new fans what made everyone fall in love with the original. And because of that, no matter how good it is, it’s simply lesser.

Having played nearly every other game in the Resident Evil franchise, I can say with certainty that this is unequivocally the best RE game of all time, and one of the best games I've ever played. I currently have 40 hours played, and I've attained every treasure, earned S ranking in all shooting games, done all requests, and have beaten the game on professional. RE4 is set in a remote village in Spain and features a semi-open world. There are so many places you can explore freely without having a cutscene jammed up your ass or being railroaded like many other games—RE6 in particular. Every weapon is upgradable, comes with a unique exclusive upgrade and can be modified with parts. The way you upgrade the items and modify your kit is via the merchant—a traveling vendor that appears throughout the game. The merchant also hands you requests which you can turn in for Spinels, a rare currency used for things like treasures, exclusive upgrades and tokens. The combat is also really fluent. You can headshot enemies then seamlessly roundhouse kick them 20 feet away. As for the story -- you're tasked with rescuing the president's daughter who was abducted by lunatic cultists. You soon discover that these cultists are actually people infected with a parasite called "Plaga" and are being remotely controlled by Saddler—the main antagonist of this game. Saddler's goal is world domination, using the newly discovered plaga. You meet Ada Wong in the village as well, and you get to play her in the Separate Ways DLC which is excellent in its own right. It's not an asset flip, it contains new areas and enemies as well as new mechanics. Overall I give this a solid 9/10.

Coming from playing and still owning Resident Evil 4 (2005) on Nintendo Gamecube, This game immerses you into the world like no other while maintaining the original story with the slightest changes. The game runs smooth with no issue. although if playing on the highest refresh rates i would recommend capping them to 60-120 or so. Many of the games physics on wires and objects seem to be affected by the amount of fps you get. lowering them will have objects move more naturally.
Resident Evil 4 Remake — A Tense Return to Darkness, Exactly As It Should Be.

Sometimes it feels like classics are better left untouched. But every now and then, a remake comes along that not only lives up to expectations — it surpasses them. That’s exactly what Resident Evil 4 Remake manages to do. This isn’t just a visual upgrade of a beloved game; it’s a complete reimagining that respects the past while confidently stepping into the present. From the very first moments, the visuals are striking. Forests, villages, eerie castles — everything is rendered with incredible detail. Lighting, shadows, and sound design all work together to create a thick atmosphere of constant tension. Every step feels deliberate, every encounter risky. The gameplay has been thoroughly modernized. Combat is more fluid and responsive, and the knife now plays a crucial role — in many situations, it can truly be a lifesaver. The story remains faithful to the original, but the dialogue and scene direction have matured significantly. The main character feels more grounded, and his interactions with others are more believable and emotionally resonant. Ashley, in particular, is no longer a burden — she now feels like a natural part of the gameplay. What’s most impressive is how the game strikes a perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation. It doesn’t rely solely on what came before — it expands on it in all the right ways. Resident Evil 4 Remake isn’t just a great horror-action game — it’s a bold evolution of a legend. From the first moment to the last, it’s gripping, intense, and unforgettable.

Overall: 10/10 — Respect for the original, refined to perfection.

Resident Evil 4 is my all-time favorite! Leon is ridiculously hot, and the game is just so good. Those Regenerators gave me actual heart attacks. I loved how they made Ashley more than just someone to protect; it made her character better. And that Ada Wong DLC? I had to buy it because Ada is a gorgeous queen, and the gameplay was so fun – totally worth it. The story, the creepy Spanish setting, the crazy boss fights… everything was perfect. This is hands-down the best Resident Evil game ever made. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Trying to chill with my headphones and a dim lamp, but Resident Evil 4 yeets me into a village where everyone’s got a zombie vibe and zero personal space. Leon S. Kennedy’s out here dodging chainsaws like it’s a Tuesday, and I’m muttering, “Mate, I’d hide in a cupboard.” Apparently, my friends think it’s hilarious when I call the ganados “overly enthusiastic party crashers,” but I’m just calling it like I see it. The gameplay’s smooth, like sorting my snack drawer, and that attache case is my happy place—fitting a shotgun next to my herbs is peak organization. Ashley’s a bit much with her “Leon!” screams, but her corner-crouching game resonates with my soul. The merchant’s chill, though, tossing out guns like he’s handing me a coffee. It’s spooky, action-packed, and perfect for my solo nights when I’d rather snipe mutants than reply to group chats. My vibe: slay zombies, stay cozy.

I quite like this one, mate. Absolute banger from start to finish. Capcom’s smashed it, the visuals are lush, the gameplay’s tighter than ever, and Leon? Man’s a total boss, dry wit and roundhouse kicks for days. Atmosphere’s spot on, action hits hard, and the pacing’s near perfect. Proper good fun. Cheers, Capcom

Good evening... Where do I start with this game... maybe from the intense and detailed graphics or the crazy, brilliant minded story line. All in all I have nothing bad to say about this game. The missions, the journeys, the enemies all worth playing for. Personally for me, single player games don't interest me as I am more on board with having fun and completing games with my mates. But this has changed my whole outlook on single player games. I would recommend this game to anyone. Very well made and Thank You. I really do hope that someday in the future, having the option of co op play is added as this would create an even better experience and maybe a different approach to the Resident Evil games. Thank You :)

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a game that presents itself as an exceptionally fun, action-packed experience. In contrast, it explores dark yet horrifyingly realistic themes of the external world, which are paralleled throughout the narrative. I really enjoyed this game, as it managed to not only offer plenty of replay value but also incorporate great storytelling while keeping you on your toes during the intense action scenes. Overall, an amazing game, and I hope to play more of the Resident Evil franchise’s future endeavors.

Resident Evil 4 is great. The main story kept me interested from start to finish. The shooting feels good, the enemies are fun to fight, and the spooky atmosphere works well. I liked Leon’s jokes and the improved graphics and sound. When the game ended, I already wanted to play it again later on a harder mode. I’m sure I’ll replay it after some time, and then I’ll jump into the DLC too.

Resident Evil 4 is more than just a game. A friend of mine called, Lazar recently played RE 4 and he didn't like it. But it doesn't matter to me. This game is so much fun and I can't believe that my friend didn't like it. I would encourage new horror seekers to look into the RE franchise as its atmosphere, lore and character growth is awesome. It's the Resident Evil 4 Remake with the updated new engine that makes sure all the visuals in the game look really pleasing to the eye. This game had everything for me, suspense, horror, and even some wholesome interactions between the characters you never would have thought. I highly recommend this game to anybody who is new to the Resident Evil franchise, although I would say that you should probably start off with the RE2 Remake to make sure you know who you're dealing with and which characters are in this game. And if you're already a Resident Evil fan that this is a no brainer purchase as it was for me seeing as it was really cheap with the Capcom 30th Anniversary discounts.

At first I was just thinking of dabbling in this game since I’ve never been a huge fan of Resident Evil. But man this one totally changed my mind. The graphics are insanely realistic, and the gameplay especially the parry mechanic hooked me right away. It gave me the motivation to not just finish it on standard difficulty, but also go all in on hardcore and even professional mode. Honestly, it’s easily one of the best games I’ve played on Steam. If you're into challenges, puzzles, and that intense, edge-of-your-seat thrill I 100% recommend giving it a shot.

Gameplay & Mechanics Resident Evil 4 is undoubtedly much better overall compared to its predecessor, Resident Evil 3, primarily because it is so different from the past two chapters. The setting changes significantly, and the playthrough generally takes more time. One notable addition is the wandering trader mechanic, borrowed from Resident Evil Village, where you can buy guns and ammo. However, it feels much more controllable here, as you know exactly how much money you need to buy a weapon or ammunition. This stands in contrast to RE:2 and RE:3, where the only way to acquire ammo was by finding it. I find this new system a necessarily good change, as it slightly shifts the gameplay by giving you a reason to check every corner in hopes of finding rarer gems to sell, using the money to acquire needed items. Graphics & Atmosphere Graphically, the game has improved slightly, with new lighting that’s most evident in indoor locations, such as the church at the beginning. The atmosphere remains immersive and tense, capturing the horror elements well. Story & Characters While RE:4 excels in many areas, I believe its storyline is less interesting and has less character variety, especially when compared to RE:2. RE:2 not only featured the frequent presence of special agent Ada Wong (who also appears in RE:4), but it also introduced many side characters with their own backstories, especially if you took time to read the notes scattered around the Raccoon City Police Station. In RE:4, the island you explore almost acts as a character itself. By reading notes, you uncover its history and the stories of its people. This location plays a larger role than the settings in RE:2 and RE:3, where environments changed slightly more often. Leon’s Characterization One major downside for me is how Leon’s character evolved. Only six years after the Raccoon City incident, he became much less ambiguous and is now portrayed almost as a cold-blooded zombie killer, with cool looks and a lack of empathy even in tragic situations. His reactions tend to be colder, as if he fears nothing. Of course, this could be explained by how his view on life and death changed after Raccoon City, but it still makes him less relatable and more annoyingly stoic. Replayability & Length Overall, RE:4 is a great game for what it offers, even if the playthrough takes less than 30 hours. If you’re not the type to replay games or hunt for new content over time (as you might in The Witcher 3 or other open-world titles), you might be disappointed by how quickly it finishes. Personally, I don’t enjoy playing a second run, but if you love zombie games and have already finished RE:2 and RE:3, you should still buy RE:4, as it’s one of the more unique chapters and allows you to continue following the canon story of Leon S. Kennedy. Final Rating Based on your impressions, I would rate Resident Evil 4 (Remake): 🎮 8/10 It’s a strong, engaging experience with innovative mechanics and a haunting atmosphere, but slightly held back by a less interesting story and Leon’s colder personality shift.

RE4R retains all the essential elements that made the original game so beloved and updates it with a grittier, darker palette. The combat is super fun, intense, and at times, brutal. The village, castle and island maps have been redesigned beautifully. They're familiar enough without feeling like a copy & paste. The castle map, which was my favourite section in the original game, has undergone the biggest change in its design, from what I can tell. All of the characters have been faithfully updated, some better than the others. I particularly like the redesign of Ashley and Luis. Despite the darker vibe in the remake, the comedic charm that the original had has not been totally lost; there are still a few classic Leon taunts thrown in that will generate a laugh or smile, and the merchant is not short in the joke department either. Capcom has nailed RE4R. It's an instant classic.

I've always heard good things about this series so I bought the remake trilogy (2, 3 & 4) on sale. Easily some of the best money I've spent on video games in general. RE4 remake was my first RE game ever and I recommend anyone who hasn't to please grab this game when you can. Good standalone story if you're not caught up on lore, easy to understand mechanics and constantly engaging scenarios.

By far the best remake in the whole franchise, brought me right back into the childhood. Massive recommend if you want a blast from the past with clean graphics and polished gameplay.

I dont know how it took me this long to actually play this Never been a big fan of the RE games because i thought once you watch it theres nothing else to experience but i can now see that genuinly its something you have to play yourself. i love the story the graphics and the cool guns that they show you in the game!!!

Resident Evil 2'yi oynamıştım ve dördüncü oyununu merak ediyordum. Hazır indirime girmişken alma fırsatı buldum. Serinin dördüncü oyununun remake'i kesinlikle çok iyi. Herkese iyi oyunlar.

Just finished 100% achievements, S+ rank on all difficulties on the main campaign and DLC. This game is a solid 6/10. following is a very short list of odd design choices. 1) Reimagined plot is terribly subpar and dialogue is safe and sanitised, lacking all the charm of the original. Every character has been downgraded except Luis, which is the only saving grace for the story. Don't get me wrong, the original RE4 plot wasn't that great either but it was memorable, fun and really easy to improve yet, somehow, the writers managed to mess it up. Easily the most disappointing part of this remake. 2) Movement is sluggish, continuing the tradition of all remakes since RE2R. 3) Aiming has forced bullet spread and widening reticles, making flick shots impossible. Our hands already have built in imperfect aim, no need to add it as a feature. 4) Inconsistent hitboxes, sometimes you will be hit by swings that you are not in range of. 5) Breakable knives, they were awful since RE2R, they are still awful in RE4R. 6) Pacing is terrible at same points, usually due to battles overstaying their welcome or unskippable sequences that serve little purpose in terms of gameplay. 7) Many gameplay sections that were fun, tense or otherwise memorable have been removed or changed to cater modern, casual crowd that prefer simplistic and low effort gameplay. Also, this game almost seems designed for streamers rather than gamers. There are many more issues I could post about but I still would recommend it to new players, they have no frame of reference and will enjoy this game, as it is quite similar to other average titles in the same genre but better polished. It's also pretty decent for speedrunning, skippable cutscenes made this game more enjoyable. This is the main reason I dumped so many hours into it.

This game is absolutely amazing. Unlike Re2 the horror is a lot more tolerable for me which in my opinion makes it have the perfect blend of horror and action which is why I enjoy this game so much.

You are playing a baby-sitting sim for most of the game. Ashley constantly gets grabbed, downed because she runs into groups of enemies and hazards, gets stuck on the environment, does not stay close and behind you when you giver her a command. 80% of game over screens will be because of terribly designed npc and something that's completely out of your control and is nothing more than artificial difficulty. Basic enemies have better AI when it comes to following you. Weapons have terrible accuracy and bullets come out of the barrel at random angles. Item distribution is terrible, I went from chapter 6 to 9 without receiving a single healing item. Staggers on enemy are very inconsistent. There is also in-game store where they sell you progression items in a single player game.

Great replayability due to different difficuties and new unlockables, very fun combat! Though it misses some 'survival' horror aspects and has a bit too much action for a RE in my opinion
