Lil Gator Game

Probably the textbook definition of "putting your heart and soul into something" that made me choke back tears at the end. What makes this such an effective story about childhood nostalgia is how the gameplay integrates those themes. Quests are all very simple and amount to about 1-2 steps that are usually just "hit these cutouts," yet all of them feel uniquely charming as they represent different childhood values of everybody you befriend. "Enemies" are cardboard cutouts that can't hurt you, and you take no fall damage either, so you can explore to your heart's content. All the stuff that feels straight out of a child's imagination. Simultaneously, I found myself impressed at the breadth of movement options, which made exploring the beautiful landscape all the more engaging. For example, you could hold down attack to hit all the "enemies," or you could dive with your shield to do it even faster. You could climb up mountains or use a balloon to gain infinite height. You could swim (since you are a lil gator, after all) or hop around on your shield. The existence of all these options enhances the experience, for me.

Lil' Gator Game is so cute and sweet and pleasant that's it's enough to warm even my wretched, cold, little heart. Highly recommend.

Lil Gator Game is an adorable game to playthrough! While it is short it really makes the most of its time and the story itself is super cute.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this game, but it's now one of my favorites, if not the top spot! The aesthetics are on point, the player character is great both as a character and gameplay-wise, and the world is huge and full of detail. I especially love how the artstyle evades a common problem in games with big 3D worlds, because nothing's visibly higher or lower resolution! The only problem is that it's too short, and the DLC (which I am totally getting) should be fixing that sooner or later!

I have unabashedly enjoyed this game from beginning to end i have never one-hundred percent-ed a game before in my life but this, this is the one. It's charming, creative, and calming utterly adorable and over all profoundly fun and easy to play. So so so many lovable characters (Avery is the best fight me) just a very pleasant experience worth every cent. Thank you MegaWobble for something i'll never forget! <3

In one word, this game is adorable. I completed the whole thing in one day, but I absolutely plan on coming back to mess around because it's so much fun just to play in. The story is super charming and relatable; even though I don't have any siblings it still hit pretty hard. I like that it has a speedrun mode to take advantage of all your crazy movement options, and I also like that none of the achievements are tied to speedrunning so I don't have to fully learn an entirely new skill just because I'm a bit of a completionist. This isn't a game that's going to challenge you, but it's one that you can simply enjoy. Very much recommended!

I would have loved this game as a kid. I mean, I love it now too as an adult but I would have also loved it as a kid. The movement options are fun, the sound and artstyle are charming and the story is nice too. It's a bit too short in my opinion but I think the dlc will fix this. I definitely recommend this if you are a fan of collect-a-thons.

Great for those looking for a shorter game. In particular those who are often very busy in their day-to-day life for no particular reason.

I cannot believe how much this joy this game brought me. This cozy adventure had surprisingly a very meaningful story and characters that I cared about. the gameplay was extremely fun and after i got all achievements, it felt kind of somber to bid the game and the characters adieu. 10/10 game for me! if you love chill, cozy games with a really fun adventure aspect to it. i highly recommend it.

What starts as a cute, wholesome game of [i]Legally Distinct Breath of the Wild[/i] make-believe ends as a reflection on, in the game's own words, "what's most important." I'd already seen Dan and Carrie Floyd of Playframe play through this game, and it still managed to make me cry by the time I said goodbye (i.e. 100% my first run). If you're looking for a short, chill, beautiful celebration of childhood, imagination, and the power of creativity and friendship, this is absolutely the game for you. Looking forward to returning for "In The Dark!"

Ridiculously cute game with some of the best movement I've experienced in a while, this game is so fun to run around and explore in. It's very family-friendly, I highly recommend it if you have kids. The writing is charming and funny but not overly complex, and it's got excellent messages about getting along with your friends, how people can have fun in their own ways, and encouraging people to play without pressuring them. This game is on the short side, however--a young child will likely spend long enough trying to find every nook and cranny that it should be well worth full price, but if you're older and playing it for yourself I'd recommend waiting for a sale.

I absolutely adore this game! It is cozy, adorable, and has very charming humour. The music is bouncy and fun and the story, characters, and everything are all very wholesome. The gameplay is smooth and easy to learn. They did a really good job with having a pretty decently sized and open map without giving the player a map that shows you where you're at all the time. It encourages you to explore and learn the world. I often felt very lost but they built it where it was fun to be lost. I felt like I kept finding new things with every corner. TLDR This game is cozy, charming, adorable, and fun! Please give it a try!

I heard about this game after playing A Short Hike and looking for similar games, and this one did not disappoint. This game has a very similar vibe - small, cozy, yet still adventurous and packed with fun. I've heard a few complaints on Reddit about the layout of this game (with its lack of a map) being too confusing, and I experienced none of that. The island was easy and fun to navigate right out the gate, and traversing its many biomes was very fun. The dialogue and story on this game is incredible as well, quite touching and heartwarming. It feels like BoTW mixed with A Short Hike, which is honestly exactly what I was looking for. I loved this game, and cannot recommend it enough. Can't wait for the DLC!!

An absolutely phenomenal game from start to finish. The game is very cute, charming, and looks absolutely beautiful. The controls are great, responsive, everything you'd want it to be. By far, though, it's the game's writing and dialogue is the highlight that genuinely made me tear up by the end. It really gives you that sense of childlike energy, adventure, attitude, sense of wonder and adventure. Something that myself and many people lose when they grow up. And I love the idea of, you know, Gator just creates his own story.The writing is everything you would want. It's really funny, it's really quirky, it has a lot of silly moments, and especially with Big sister of growing up and going to college and contemplating that with, As a little gator does so much to have her play, just like old times, and especially what was very impactful was, as you adventure across the island, you see memories pop up everywhere about all about the fun games in the past. But it was also very mature as you interact with a lot of other characters. You see problem-solving. You see conflicts get solved by just convincing people that talking to each other is the way to solve problems, or playing along with everyone and doing favors for them. And it's just beautiful to see. You solve a lot of people's problems. You give people confidence. And it was just really wholesome and just really nice to see. It was genuinely enjoyable to play and also, you have a lot of decisions where you can lie to people or not, and when you don't lie to people, you get rewarded in-game. And in the end, everybody comes together to change the playground into a fortress, and everyone is playing the game in their own unique way. Every character has a different idea of what their role in the game is, but everyone is having fun and playing the game together. And it was just so beautiful, so poetic, And it genuinely made an impact on me that sometimes, as an adult, I need to slow down and enjoy life more, just like what we did in our childhood. The power of playing pretend and having fun with what you have is so profound and that really spoke to me. This game is a 10 out of 10 for what it set out to do, and it was absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait for the DLC. I cannot recommend this game enough.
