This is a fun game, although I don't know why they changed the names of the characters in the subtitles (kind of confusing.)
After 'finishing' the game, I would probably wait for a sale as a normal run-through takes about 1-2 hours to complete. I also hope there's multiple endings waiting for me on harder difficulties as the ending kinda left me :'[
But the art-style alone and isometric game design is what hooked me to buy the game and continue playing in the first place (I am scared of anything horror-genre) and I would say its a definite must-play for anyone too scared to play anything more hardcore.

I really enjoyed this game! Only played through it once so far but going to go through it again and try to 100% it next time. My biggest criticism is that the keyboard controls are very frustrating when you're trying to run away from enemies. I haven't tried with a controller yet, hopefully it's easier with that.
Something to NOTE! This game has the following elements that might be an issue for some when playing: occult themes, lots of blood, body horror, bullying/harassment, medical equipment, dead bodies, multiple text descriptions of violence, and two text descriptions of animal abuse. Much "lighter" than most horror games, but please take it into consideration before playing.

Target Audience: Tension Based Horror Players
Summary:
The biggest thing that's going against Last Light is that price tag: as many players see the graphical fidelity and possible game length, and decide that it's not worth a look. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Last Light is going to blow you away in any one aspect: and it's not the kind of game that's going to be YouTube bait for another horror title with scary moments left and right. But what Last Light does well is keep the tension up while you try to figure out how to get through things without getting taken out, and all the time you're waiting for the next shoe to drop. It's the type of game that won't horribly frustrate you in the horror genre, but give you enough hiccups where you feel like you're just ready to run for your life at any moment. With a good atmosphere, it's a great title to target on sale in most cases: it's worth your time, but maybe not at the price.
Gameplay Footage: https://youtu.be/2QB2YpJfr1w
Lists:
Positives:

Reasonable Tension in the gameplay, keeping you on your toes without feeling TOO cheap.

Not focused on jump scares, but the ones that are there are extremely effective.

Sad story that will make you appreciate the characters and the situation.

Sets a good atmosphere that complements the tension in the gameplay.

Level Design is tight enough to allow for multiple paths without feeling too overbearing.
Negative:

Length could be a problem for the price for players. While there's some replayability, if length is what really gets you on price, this could be a pass.

Wanted more mechanics in the long run.
Last Light is Like Yomawari With a Twist!
Alright, so I accidentally stumbled upon Last Light, this indie horror game, and boy, was I hooked right from the start! I mean, just the art alone caught my eye, and I knew I was in for something special. You know how the horror game scene is often dominated by Silent Hill-inspired stuff, but Last Light offers a refreshing twist. It draws inspiration from the fantastic Yomawari series, and that's a series I can get behind.
We follow our protagonist, Lumi, a young girl heading to an abandoned hospital for a "scare game." But things take a dark turn when she loses her friends and enters a nightmarish world of spirits and haunting journals. The art style is spot-on, walking that fine line between cute and disturbing. The drawings and journals you find paint a haunting picture of the traumas these children endured, and the enemy designs are downright eerie.
Gameplay-wise, it's pretty straightforward. You help the friendly spirits by completing their tasks, usually fetching items for them. But watch out for the hostile spirits with their unique patterns and behaviors. You'll find yourself sprinting through narrow corridors, trying to escape these spooky ghosts, and the sliding mechanic during the sprint adds a nice thrill to it.
Now, here's the cool part: there's a time loop involved. After uncovering a horrible secret, Lumi blacks out and starts at the beginning of the game again. The story unfolds with each loop, revealing more truth as you go. It's intriguing, but I wish there were more differences between each repetition. It does start to feel a bit repetitive itself after a while.
But you know what? Despite that, Last Light is a short and satisfying experience. It takes you on a journey through this haunted hospital, unraveling Lumi's trauma and watching her bravery grow. The game doesn't overstay its welcome, and I love the art style and gameplay. Team Corn Field did a solid job with this debut, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. Lumi's story tugged at my heartstrings, and while it had its flaws, Last Light still left me with a morbidly delightful experience.

It is a good game in many ways, in fact a very good game. The art style is attractive. The sound design is really good, some of the best sound design in all games I played. I especially like how you are able to make out that most sound recordings were made in what is probably a budget environment but they were done in such a way that contributes positively to the games atmosphere. Interesting behavior from the enemy NPC's. I like how you have to deal with each type differently and how
the black psycho with red eyes bangs her head on the locker while you're hiding in it, truly unsettling
. The cuteness of the characters is nice and just makes it more unsettling sometimes when you're getting chased. The controls (on controller) are good. Gameplay mechanics are good. The price I got it at was also decent.
But and this has some spoiling in it, the game gets super boring after the first play through. To reach the ending you need to play the game three times on a higher difficulty each time. Every time you're doing the exact same thing in the same order, the dialogue of course changes and only two minor elements are added in the second walkthrough. All the tasks are the same the whole time. And you reach an ending that doesn't really clear up questions or is really satisfying. So much is unanswered. I don't know if there is alternate endings because I just don't care to find out after getting to completion but there is still 10 hidden achievements I didn't get, not sure if that means there is a different ending.
This game would've been a definite positive review if it knew how to end itself better. After the first playthrough you get the end credit scene and no ending, expecting a cut scene to summarize it or maybe just a badly done ending considering the game price range. But you think no the game obviously had alot of effort put into it. Then you get put into the beginning again. You're like oh I get to make it to an ending, then you ask yourself what is going to change now. Nothing changes. You quickly realize you'll just be doing the same stuff again, then you realize you do it again once more after you did it all again. By the end of your first playthrough the spookiness has worn off and you're just running past enemies. So the second and third playthrough are just boring repetitive task finishing with worn off atmosphere effect, for you to reach a sup mediocre ending that answers no questions. Other than that super decent game.
I like games that would ask for multiple playthroughs to finish, but you can't just repeat the same thing in every playthough. Nier Automita is a very good example on how to do that sort of thing.

After beating the first difficulty, I say this game is pretty decent. I love the isometric view of this game, the art, the enemy designs. Reminds me of Maplestory, but a darker turn ya know? More realistic as well, but spiritually and dead in a way I guess.
My only complaint on this game is that the movement when running has the "sliding" effect with it and it really makes the gameplay difficult, even in Easy Mode. You bump into things like the door way and corners down the halls, it's really frustrating when running away from enemies.
Also, one of the enemies, the "kid" that only attacks you if you move, may be bugged? I'm not sure if he's suppose to attack you after dying multiple times. For example, if you stay still, they still go after you, and you stay still again, and then they attack you. There are no hints whatsoever about enemies learning or something like the "Alien" from "Alien: Isolation" mechanic where the monster becomes smarter and immune to your attacks. Something that like that here, except it's a little difficult to tell. Like, there should be a way to go around those types of enemies. Dying several times and trying to figure out if the enemies learn to become immune to you is...uhh not fun. It wouldn't been nice if there were hints. Otherwise, the AI for these enemies may be bugged.
Overall, this is just my take on this game. I really enjoyed it, and planning to keep this game in my library. There are barely any isometric games like these. I know this game just came out recently, and I have high hopes for Last Light. I only have a few complaints, but otherwise it's a good game! I just hope the devs fix the issues, and if so the game will be all good imo :>

I was first attracted to Last Light for its art style, which is absolutely beautifull. For somebody who does not like horror type of games this one really made want to unlock all the achievement (still one to go). So without spoiling anything this is my short review score:
Art: 10/10
Story: 9/10
Difficulty: 7/10
Scare factor: 9/10
It took me 3 hours to go through the first playthrough (took so long because I was scared). To unlock all other achievement, except for one (where are you third floor director!!!) it took me another 10 hours as I did not use any playthrough or guides.
So I really recommand this game and hope more will follow.

Underrated, a lot of love was put into this little game.
The art is both adorable and horrifying, the character designs are cool, the story was simple, the ambiance is spooky. My only concern is the difficulty level of the roaming spirits, sometimes there's just too many of them and it's hard to navigate the environment. It seems there might be more than 1 ending, but I don't have the patience to go through all those creepy spirits again to get the other endings :')
There are obvious Yomawari inspirations, so if you liked that one, feel free to give this a try! Looking forward to see what else the developers make!

Like many have said, this game feels like Yomawari, but still puts its own spin on the style. The game is short and sweet, at least on initial playthrough. There are cool ideas, but the game doesn't execute some of them very well. Be warned, as there will be slight story spoilers throughout.
Gameplay for this game is basically that of a stealth-horror game, where you actively avoid monsters that patrol around the map. You have to learn the method for avoiding each monster, but they're pretty simple to get down. Unfortunately, there isn't much variety to them, so it eventually gets a little monotonous, even a little annoying, when running away from them. You'll also die a lot. Luckily, the game is forgiving with deaths, spawning you back in with all the items you've collected.
There are 3 difficulty options in this game, but 2 of them are locked until after beating the game. They're actually mandatory to beat if you want to experience the whole story of the game. This means that you have to beat the game at least 3 times to fully get the story. On paper, it's a cool idea and I get what it represents in the story, but the developers could have handled it so much better. By the time I was on my 3rd playthrough, everything felt more like a chore. Enemies were just annoying, especially because of the higher difficulty. The pay-off of the story at the end just didn't feel worth it for me. This may be different for you, however.
I've brought up a lot of cons, but this game excels in pretty much every other aspect. The art in this game is stylish. It has a mix of various hand-drawn styles, along with a pseudo-3D environment that's designed to fit the overall dreariness of the game really well. The way shadows moved with your flashlight really got me paranoid. The game is also mostly voice-acted (JP and KR). Looking at the credits, there are actually some pretty well-known voice artists involved, which I didn't expect.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about this game. The art and audio are big ups for me, but the charm diminishes after a while. However, I would still recommend this if you're a fan of games like Yomawari or RPG-maker horror. The initial playthrough of this game is still pretty fun. If anything, wait for a sale to get this game.

If Corpse Party and Yomawari had a child, this would be it.
I waited long for a game that would be similar to how Yomawari plays and feels, and Last Light delivered on this. Amazing game, simple and straightforward, awesome art and great atmosphere.
I sadly found it way too short and, the name "Last Light" feels just super weak, doesnt do justice to this game. I expect such a name from a Unity or UE asset flip, but not this.

It's good at first, but the charm wears off later in the game. Tasks are boring after a while because player doing the same thing on each floor and the ending isn't as good as I expected.

I like the story and most of the gameplay for this, but completing all the difficulties can become very repetitive and even infuriating when you keep on dying. But overall, I love this game, the story that it tells, and most of all the amazing character design.

It's a very good game. Love the graphics and voice acting (even if I don't understand it). The only problem is that you have to play it 3 times in order to get the ending, but I still don't understand exactly what happened. My guess is that the girl is also a patient in the same hospital.

I like this game, the artstyle is amazing and the gameplay is quite fun. The characters are also interesting, including the ghost that you help and that chase you around. My only complaint are of two achievements I have not gotten despite meeting their requirements. (Mild spoilers (?) for second achievement) One is Close Call which requires you to be in a locker while injured/wounded, I have met this requirement many times, even purposefully running into ghosts and hopping into a locker seconds later while wounded. The second one is find the directors photos on the 3rd floor, which despite find both I have not received the achievement for it. Other than the achievement issue I had quite a lot of fun, tasks got easier with each playthrough because of story items remaining in the same location on the map with each playthrough.

If you like exploration based horror games, especially the Yomawari games, then you'll probably like this one
Good atmosphere and graphics. A bit more explicit story than some other titles but doesn't have so much story as to get in the way of gameplay. Very well paced overall IMO
Sometimes enemy placement gets frustrating though where an aggressive ghost or three will chill between where you are and where you need to be.

Last Light is a unique top-camera view horror game where you find yourself in an abandoned hospital and need to find your way out. As you soon find out, you are not alone. The story starts with a few of your friends daring you to go find the student IDs before you can leave. The game features mechanics I haven't seen before like finding helpful items and placing them permanently on the floor, or one time use keys that unlock any door. Your goal is to find all IDs on your current floor before moving to a new one. The game features a unique difficulty system, you can only play on easy and once you beat it then next one unlocks, and then once you beat normal you get hard. Difficulties don't really increase difficulty (only marginally, they make the game more annoying rather than difficult), but they affect the story, telling you more about how you've ended up there and what's going on. The game could do better by adding new mechanics into harder difficulties, something that actually makes the game difficult and puts more focus on stealth cuz even on the hardest difficulty, any ghost can be easily outrun and you have fast regenerating health so once you beat the game once and get the hang of how the ghosts work, they stop becoming a challenge and are only an annoyance preventing you from beating the game too quickly on your next two playthroughs. I am dissatisfied with the game's ending, the true ending scene is good but there should be more put into the game instead of leaving that much to the player's imagination.
Summarizing, I think this game can be worth paying the full price for because it's not that expensive but don't expect miracles at the same time. There's a playable demo so you can see for yourself (a tiny part of easy difficulty is playable, progress does not carry over) if this game catches your interest. You can expect roughly 5-6 hours of gameplay.

Gem of an horror game that surprised me by how much I enjoyed playing it. Love the creepy atmosphere and overall vibe of the game. To get to the "true" ending you definitely need to beat it on all difficulties. Would recommend.

Great little game with a Yomawari feel but with its own take. Wish it was longer! The only issue I found was the update wiped my save file so i had to play through the first floor again. I think this would be a great starter game for those who are scared of horror games but still want the excitement of playing one. Very mild scares.

Sup.
It's a good game and also bad game.
Good:
The bug has been fixed and it's more stable.
I love the gameplay, atmosphere, and the way creator depict a character and plot.
Pretty Scary, since it made me shiver.
Bad:
Can you make a better ending or satisfying ending? 3 loops for an obscure ending?
Maybe, the creator/developer can add a true happy ending.
Little bit confusing.

This game looks gorgeous and the artwork is on point! The first play through is short but the game intends for you to play it through multiple times to achieve different outcomes. Its not incredibly spooky, so if your after a hardcore horror game this isn't it. However so much love was put into this game and its incredibly charming, its worth the price but it wouldn't hurt to get it on sale.

The first play through will take about hour thirty to two hours to get all the collectibles and the game is okay for the first play through. It had its okay spokes and all but that charm wears off on the second and third. The game will want you to go through it three times for very slight differences in the events and a different ending upon completion of the them. The second and third will really only take you 30mins to complete because the tasks are the same and the ghost are still very easy/annoy to deal with depending on their spawns. All and all the ends really weren't that great and the story was just kind of meh. If you want a play the game for yourself I would just recommend waiting for a sale,

Bad game. Yomawari-like. Crying baby monster can see you through walls and even though the enemies are supposedly unique, the game spawns duplicates like it is NBD, ruining immersion. Controls were really wonky where mouse-lock didn't work even in fullscreen, allowing my gamepad to control my cursor onto my windows desktop....that's really bad!! Technical issues ruin the gameplay and the story is paper-thin, with spoiler bombs ruining much of the game's plot in the first fifteen minutes of the game.

This game is a one and done but in order to get all achievements and the real story you have to play through it three times on increasing difficulty. Your first play through gives you a story, your second play through which I manged to just finish the first area gives you subtle changes. I didn't feel the need to play through again. I mean there has got to be more changes lots more changes in order to want to play through 2 more times. The game is a solid one and done and it's great but the extra work to get the real ending isn't really worth. Definitely worth your time for a quick scare ore get a non gamer to play it and watch them.
