Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.2 Watanagashi

I have to say that the beginning slice of life section is improved very much, I really enjoyed it compared to the first chapter. The story itself is also very well written, I felt more emotions from this than the first chapter. [spoiler]I felt sad at the end when everyone confronted Mion...[/spoiler] 10/10 looking forward to the 3rd chapter

Building tension and providing a fun daily life scenario for the club is balanced well in this arc, yet the gearshift feels a bit extreme, I did enjoy the daily life in Ch2 much more than Ch1, probably because it was less loomed over by the dismemberment like in Ch1. As it's going now, I'll most likely get through it all. Fun game. Also scary.

A chapter that somehow in the end manages to surpass even chapter 2 with the most horror in retrospect and a more fun mystery to follow another perfect chapter in my opinion, the slice of life was higher quality with more rika moments and a absolute blast of a starting mystery with a finale that really blew my mind and had alot of emotion behind it

While not as impressive and memorable as the first chapter of Higurashi, Watanagashi is an excellent story told in a manner that reveals the weaknesses and trauma one of Higurashi's central characters in a powerful manner. If you like Mion, this chapter is the one you wanna experience. Watanagashi also explores the crazed mob mentality that lies hidden within the quaint town of Hinamizawa.

A very good second chapter! If you felt Mion was a little under cooked in Chapter 1 this gives you plenty to chew on with a healthy dose of more info on the conspiracy side of the entire mystery. That feeling of plummeting into madness isn't really the focus in this one but it's still very solid to read and did have me on the edge of my seat. Another thing is that despite being a more Mion focused chapter we got to see some excellent depth to Rena's character as a whole also! It really blew me away how much this chapter added to those two honestly, 100% a good follow up.
