Truly amazing.
This is the best and most unique visual novel I’ve played.
The art is surreal, the music is stellar, and the story and lore is very well written and unpredictable.
And it has little to no awkward moments just for the sake of being mature.
This game is not a dating sim, like its genre is mostly known for: There are two chapters, and each features one protagonist and one destined girl. And there are still multiple endings for both.
And unlike most other games in the genre, the characters are animated. strictly the eyes and mouth, it only has a few frames of animation to make it look perfect (like you would see in an anime).
And pretty much the whole game is CG’s. It’s not just restricted to a character and a background the whole duration of the game.
What i like about it most is it’s mature themed. it isn’t one that seems to be friendly all throughout but is only mature for very few moments.
There is no opening video that spoils things; you just go straight into the game.
There are no unnecessary HUD elements on the screen at all times, the game feels immersive because of that and it’s for older resolution.
The full game felt relatively short to me. But luckily there aren't any boring and unnecessary parts that bloat the game's runtime. It’s worth playing through again and again due to that and for it’s multiple endings, and because it’s just fun.
For some reason playing it in the original Japanese language isn’t available. which would have been nice to preserve the original experience as well as have English and Chinese available in one release
The Steam Version has some slight updates compared to the original english version. including fixed typos, lag fixes and new fonts.
END
It may be the only visual novel you will ever need to play again (including its sequel, the latter tale), especially if you played other games in the genre prior. It’s simply in a league of it’s own.
