I was on the fence for a while before I finally decided to buy this one. I thought the price was a bit on the high side seeing as lot of the recent visual novels that have been showing up on steam have been very short, often without even having any choices or alternate paths. I'm still not sure exactly what finally made me take the risk and buy this one. I don't usually consider visual novels until they drop below the $10 mark. In this case, I am glad I made the exception. The artwork was well done, The story is well written, you can't help but feel attachment to the characters. The authors really know how to get you to connect with the story. Each and every one of the story paths is ripe with emotion and really pulls you in. Even though there are a couple of text errors, mainly around the formating of "%" characters... seems every where there was one in the dialog it played havoc with the text.. Thankfully the context was still understandible, and there were only few instances of that issue Both the qualty and quantity of content in this novel are enough to provide adequate justification for the price.
Having recently lost the love of my life to cancer, the Ame ending struck especially close to home
This is a (just about )multi path branching choice based VN. The story is the fairly generic 'boy' moves to new area and goes to school and through some choices gets 'girls' out of his normal target range. + reasonable art good sound gothic lollies - Generic bland story no sense of connection with the characters Plot lines not utilised DS is a slice of life VN set on an island where no one is unhappy; the MC moves there after advice from his cousin and starts school, the problem is that its an incredibly dull slice. Nothing really happens and there is no real hook to get you invested in the characters nor the story. It lacks that little bit magic (no pun intended) that the DC series had. Parts of the story line are underutilised (e.g. the happy numbers) and others are just ropey (the MC suddenly remembering he lost his glasses after weeks of not using them) and everything plods mundanely through to the end leaving you wondering why anyone bothered writing it in the first place (maybe the producers needed a new porch extension or their drive repaved or something). Everything that happens is generic and predictable and even the 18+ patch fails to bring any real interest. If the game could be equated to a colour it would be dysentery beige If you want a dull plodding slice of life VN then go for it but I would suggest going for any of the DC stories instead

Wonderful game. This game has 5 main routes, one for each of the five heroines(one heroine is unlocked after you complete the other four), and one normal route for the normal ending. Clearing all of these routes will unlock the True ending. In addition there are a few extra choices that appear in certain decisions after you complete the the first four heroines' route. This will let you see additional extra scenes. The art and character design are very lovely and beautiful. The music is pretty well done and I like it how each characters have their own theme. All the heroines are so lovable and have great stories. The game is pretty long and very satisfying so it’s definitely worth the price. If you want to play the game with h-scenes you can download the 18+ patch for free. I really enjoyed the game and I recommend others to play it too.

Great game, if only my wallet was as full as the content in this game. IF YOU DO GET THIS GAME, PLAY EVERY SINGLE ROUTE. EVEN THE SECRET ONES. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in visual novels. This game reminds me of the Grisaia series, as every single character has a completely different route. EDIT: AN ACTUAL REVIEW The art is good. Ridiculously good. They even have particle effects. The characters are very lovable and relatable to many VN fans out there. The content is full
in many ways
The one downside to this game is its hefty price tag, which is completely worth it . Reminder that the 18+ patch is free and it's on mangagamer (link below). http://www.mangagamer.com/freedownload.php?product_name=D.S.%20Dal%20Segno%20(download) Well it says trial but ignore that... EDIT AGAIN: Some of the routes are very complex, each route providing a completely different story. To get the full experience of the game, play every single route. The character development in each route take a different path. For example,
Hazuki is actually not Hazuki, but her twin sister. Her route develops her character by making her have 2 conflicting personalities, and our protagonist develops feeling for both personalities.
Having a bit more game time than the last edit, I can safely say that this was well worth the price.
Likes:
O Super comfy and sweet romance story with emphasis on theme about hapiness. O Memorable and quirky heroines; excellent casts and good character developments overall. O Soothing insert and ending songs (6 vocal tracks in total). O Excellent voice actings. O Overarching theme about true hapiness is consistently brought up and explored in every heroine route, providing an overall satisfying conclusion at the end of the final route.
Dislike:
X As a norm of this genre, the protagonist is extremely plain. X Weird (but somewhat easily resolved) drama on every heroine route. [strike]X Several engine bugs, such as text encoding errors ("%" is shown as a numer string), mislabelling voice cut toggle option, and custom protaganist name not working in story texts.[/strike] [Update: 13/07/2017] Bugs are fixed as commented by the developer.
Remarks:
- If you are familar with other Circus titles (such as Da Capo series), this is bascially more of the same solid romance story. - There are 4 heroine routes and one true routes. The first 4 routes can be read in any order.
Conclusions:
Dal Segno is a slightly cliche, but very solid and sweet romance story with overaching theme about true hapiness. It has been a very comfy read (basically Circus being Circus).
PS: 3 out of 5 heroines in this game wear hat. Is this also another hat simulator like Team Fortress 2 or what?

Great Visual Novel, lovely engrossing Story!
This game have read-time about 50-60hrs ( as for me, who is a slow reader, I see myself by 70hrs around )
So, I finished the Game now, and like I predicted: around 70hrs for me. It was a really good game and I had a bit Water in my Eyes, as I came to the end of Ames-route. Good Game, good Novel, really.
If you are interested in Nudity:
Patch is existing.
[strike]I had my problems with Hazukis-route, but thats just personal, because I knew where the story would go to.[/strike] [strike]I had my problems with Noeris-route, but thats just (also) personal.[/strike] [strike]So far, I personally loved Ios-Route at most.[/strike] I can't tell, which Route I more prefer, Ios- or Harumis-Route. To prevent spoilers, I don't go into the story at all. My personal favourites about this game ( untill now ): + lovely Story, all Stories are interesting! ( even Hazukis- or Noeris-Route are interesting!) + partly heartbreaking Story about someone special... + I get greeted, whenever i start the game and get my goodbyes if i close it, i love it. :D + good art and music, but thats just a personal opinion. + good to read, as a non-english-speaker it's easy to understand (as for me personally ) + good synchronisation, but as always, thats just a personal opinion. + quite handy options, such as if you clicked to fast, you can go back to a earlier scene Contra points for me: Not really something to complain, I just had my issues with Hazukis-Route, because it was so slow to read and got in the really end interesting. Still good story though. I also had some problems with Noeris-Route,
just towards the end it was annoying for me
but thats just a personal opionion, the story was still good.
a bit nervvrenching that i have to read all stories to get Ames-route, but still not really a bad point.
I recommend you, to form your own opinion! Sincerly Kota PS: Good job Circus and the cast!

I got this game because I liked DC III. And while DC 3 was far from perfect, I still gave it an 8 out of 10. The art in this game is amazingly good, far better than what you see in the DC games, the characters all seemed pretty interesting and unique, they even managed to avoid falling into the standard archetypes for the most part. The MC was fine... a little too passive in my opinion but not insufferable or anything. Yet despite having a good cast of characters, I didn't like the novel overall and wouldn't recommend it. The reason is that while there were two good routes, a 7.5 and an 8 respectively, there were three bad routes, a 6, 4 and 2 out of 10. If I were to just aggregate them into an average score, I would have given the game a 5.5 out of 10, however all the routes STARTED good. The characters were cute, the romance was there (for the most part). But then the writers start forcing in drama and it feels more like I'm playing Rimworld than reading a VN. Why on earth would I compare this to Rimworld? Because there are a lot of totally random mental breaks for no apparent reason. Oh, you were too lazy to eat at a table and that was the LAST FUCKING STRAW! Now you're going to wander dazedly in 120 degree weather during toxic fallout for three days straight until you pass out? That makes sense. It might sound like a ridiculous comparison even now, but 4 out of 5 routes in this game have the drama centered around the girl having a mental breakdown. Only one of those routes (Hazuki's) handled it in a reasonable way the others were either just nonsensical (the 4 and 2, Noeri and Himari's routes respectively) or really melodramatic (Io's). Being honest, I was *this* close to dropping this thing and I told myself that if the fourth route wasn't at least a 7.5 I would. It was exactly a 7.5, followed by the best route (Ame's) which I gave an 8. To give a comparison, 4 of 4 heroine routes in DC III had mental issues going on in them (I like to pretend Aoi's route didn't exist because it was horrible and literally just exposition for the true route). However they were brought about from either long standing issues, understandable pressure, or because of the mcguffin big bad fog of mental illness that was a central part of the story. I don't have an issue with drama or mental problems in VN's as long as they're handled well. This one did not handle them well so ultimately I would say you can do better with your money.

I have mixed feelings with this VN. I like some aspects of it, but I hate other aspects of it. Each route was interesting on paper, but their execution... Most routes were painful to watch at times since the characters act in a really stupid way. The only route in which I accepted the characters to act the way they did, is in Hazuki's route (black-hair). In the other routes, I believe they over-exaggerated the situations, which made them really annoying at times, but I could still understand them. Then you have Noeri's route (blondie) which made me want to cut my balls off, and pierce my eyeballs, and eardrums. In all the VN's I read, this has to be one of my top 10 most shitty routes. In a more positive light, one of my favorites things in this VN is that they chose good moments to make the characters go all the way, at least by my standards. It made those scenes feel more meaningful than just going from confessing to f*cking in two sentences. The other thing I quite enjoyed is that the MC, isn't half bad. And for something neutral... The H-scenes weren't too erotic. But I liked watching them for plot reasons

I am not gonna lie, I do get emotional when I can relate in a certain way, whether it is something that I need or something that I've experienced in the past. The stories of each character is unique in their own way, with a common goal of finding happiness. If you want to know those stories and gain a glimpse into the understanding of what it means to be happy, buy the game, I highly recommend it.

There's nothing I can say, for sure this is very good, in terms of the story and drama presented, If you ask is it worth it?, if you are looking for an interesting and exciting story to follow and don't forget about an attractive character design then the answer is YES! I will continue reading the fandisc soon...

This is a typical standard japanese erotic visual novel. Art Style: The art style is good. Characters are well drawn in a standard japanese anime style. Story: While it picks up some interesting ideas at the start, it does nothing with it. The story is boring as hell. The characters are all broken girls, everyone beeing a personfied clichee. They act strange and irrational like in many japanese VN. The stories become boring pretty fast and you will start clicking to heaps of uninteresting texts without reading it because it is dumb, shallow and uninteresting. Maybe as a japanese you'd disagree, but as a westerner I find it hard to believe that anyone findes the story engaging, funny or enthralling. Choices: This is the worst part to me. You basically have very few choices and it takes you really quite the time to arrive at the first few choices. And those choices are not real decissions or dialogs, they are basically nothing more then "I pick this girl" or "I pick that girl". They are just disapointing. All in all its just a crapton of japanese clichees, burried in walls of senseless text and dialog in a boring story that is not worth being told at all.

After playing through every single route, i can gladly say this vn was worth $40. If you have played other circus vn's (like da capo) youll see alot of things that refrence them. (like amakase's research lab) The overall art of the vn is really well done, the characters route each have things will take you by suprise. in total i believe there is 8 endings. The music also fits really well and never breaks the atmosphere or mood of the vn. The length of the vn is pretty good. I personally got 23 hours out of it. (however i dont use auto play so i dont let the voices finish playing before i move onto the next text, also i personally read very quickly) Overall i would give this vn a 9/10. the only thing i could really ask a little more of for this vn was the length. However dont let that bother you into not buying this vn because it is, and always will be one of my favorites. Oh btw. Lo is best girl.

UPDATED REVIEW!! I have gone through every single route and I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best Visual Romance Novels you can get on steam. Artwork is gorgeous, bgm is fitting, and the story itself is well written, and there is alot of content to play through with 5 different heroines. Some parts of the story may come across as bland due to overused romace tropes, but I was personaly moved by each and every one of the endings (I cried a little at the one ending). If youve been wanting a good Romance/Slice of life novel to play that has a good amount of content in it, I would highly recomend this game.

Be warned as this review has spoilers and bias in it. D.S. or Dal Segno is a visual novel develop by CIRCUS who made the famous Da Capo and other VN like fortissimo//Akkord:Bsusvier, D.S. is set in Kazana island a pseudo paradise where everyone is always happy. The protagonist itself can be renamed, and like other VN it has its own routes which are not going to let you think too deeply unlike other VN that might need your brain to predict some stuffs, the VN itself is a ball of fluff that each route has its own pursue of happiness, and yes the game itself delves into sci-fi so its not really a pure reality only route so expect some unexplainable things in there. My verdict is a rating of 8/10 for the VN. CG - 9.5/10 Presentation - 9.5/10 Narrative - 5/10 Story - 6/10 Sound - 8/10 For the routes, I order them as this : Ame > Hazuki = Himari > Noeri > Io Ame - 9/10 Hazuki - 8/10 Himari - 8/10 Noeri - 7/10 Io - 5/10 Ame route : -
The route for Ame was the most memorable one since its quite the quest to understanding true happiness and not just happiness, for an AI like Ame, it was a really good build up for her from how she questions the obvious things that people tend to forget most of the time, the climax part for her route reminded me of Plastic Memories and Isshukan friends Anime.
Hazuki route : -
The route for Hazuki was a bit lackluster at first for me since MC keeps only helping her at the student council room and Hazuki being the oujo-sama character can't show herself to MC, but as the second part came where she shone to be a memorable character seeing that the MC needed to be a detective just to put the puzzle that was happening to them, This route probably tackles if the happiness that happened is true or fake.
Himari route : -
The route for Himari was equal to Hazuki but not lesser, the story seems good since the bantering of the two was like I was reading a Monogatari LN, the turning point of the story came when Himari revealed that she also has the same powers as MC but even higher, so the story tells whether the happiness that was felt is real or not.
Noeri route : -
The route for Noeri was conflicted since she's the MC cousin, most people would be off put about her but the way they handled how MC and Noeri could fall in love is good since it tackled their memories even as children so it wasn't just an instant love, the plot twist in the climax part was a really 180 degree to Noeri's character, this route probably tackled that happiness is what you make.
Io Route : -
The route for Io was rather the most dull among the others and it was quite a disappointment seeing as she can play words and even do lots of stuff, though at least her route is fun to read and MC interaction for her was like having nerves of steel, this route tackled that old happiness vs new happiness.
Last Note : "Happiness comes in many forms, and at times lays dormant in one's subconscious." - Ame

It's easy to not like this game because it makes some big mistakes that tank most VN. There is however a good story behind the hurdles, so to keep this simple, I'd advise anyone interested in doing the following; read up to the invitation ceremony, skip the entire pageant arc until you've made your final decision, and then see the worth of the game. For bonus effect, call yourself Alex Mason and get ready to rave about the numbers. Now about those hurdles... I'll quickly talk about the art first because there isn't much to say. It's not the best, especially for a priced title like this, but the focus seems to have been on quantity rather than quality. I think the quantity more or less makes up for the lack of the other, but that might be a problem for others. This is a very standard VN in terms of decision-making. You'll almost completely forget you can make decisions in this game, and once you do, all you're doing is visiting someone more often than others, and then getting a route. With the lack of decisions, your character boils down to someone who "makes a mountain out of a molehill", probably to pad out the time. If you have a problem with nervous/shy player characters, you might want to keep this in mind. On the other hand, (for some reason) you also happen to be a 'charm magnet' because everybody seems to want to open up to you during the first chapters. You're friendly with everyone right away, and for a good chunk of the game, you'll be roped into the lives of others without much effort. Doing this ruins 2 parts of the game quite badly. During the pageant arc, where you're deciding on who you'll pursue, it ruins the pacing. There's no real conflict to be solved here, so instead everything drags out to an unbearable degree for the most minute issue. And then after the arc is over, it ruins the interactions at the start because everybody except for the one you choose vanishes from the story, despite being so involved with you a few chapters earlier. This could have ruined the game, had it not made the effort to give each romantic option a very good hook during the beginning. The universe it establishes is intriguing, despite not making sense at times (this might be a lingering translation error, as some parts are hard to read). Without getting into spoilers, everyone is given a mystery to solve, and the game respects the traits it establishes. Most VN would have brushed aside these traits for something more common or grounded once it got to the heart of it, but this one sticks to its guns and fully explores them during each route. This here pretty much saves the game, and earns my recommendation. Unfortunately, it takes its time to finally get there, so despite being a good VN, it could have been better. This is probably a smaller gripe, being that the adult patch is optional, but certain moments don't fit into the story, coming across as a bit too childish for the genre. And luckily there is a post-game wrap-up, otherwise, I would have a huge complaint about the abruptness of the endings. This goes back to how the game could have structured itself better, and given us more, rather than padding out time.

There's nothing terribly wrong with Dal Segno, but it's not exactly what I thought I was getting. The artwork is great and I love the island paradise setting. The common route was fun, the characters were enjoyable and the romance routes start off nicely. But there's some really forced and preposterous drama that happens midway through each route which took the wind out of the sails for me. The girls start acting odd and out of character, and you kind of have to figure out what the heck is going on with them, and it just feels like the routes get derailed. On top of that, they all follow a certain formula for the sequence of events, starting with clothes shopping, pageant, dating, drama, etc. Nothing offensively bad, may still be to some peoples' liking.

A nice story, very well written, despite what some might think at a first glance. Granted, the "main route", aka, before you pick the specific routes of the 5 girls, can be a bit of a slow burn; but the individual routes are gold. How to put it? Each girl, and their plights, feels realistic and logical, and the stories they convey have deep impact. Some may argue about tropes, but this is one hell of a good story, where said classic themes are used properly. Reaching each individual end, especially "that" ending which managed to elicit some sympathetic tears from this hardened reader (which is no mean feat), give a sense of completion, very satisfying. I can say, without a hint of doubt that I enjoyed this game. Highly recommended. Buy it. It is the perfect tale with a little hint of bitter-sweetness for when you want some light story after more hectic works like Root Double, Himawari, or Aokana. If you like LNs, this is for you.

Pretty bad writing. The protagonist goes into giant rabbitholes in his head instead of just asking sensible questions, goes "it must've been my imagination" often, has nonsensical thought patterns, and the story seems full of really cardboard moe hijinks. Don't recommend.

Nearing the end of my first route. Very entertaining VN, patch readily available, beautiful character design and hours of story to be found. Well worth the money. I guess my only big complaint is the VN asks you to put your name and then it calls you by the given name throughout the story; just don't make it an option. It's weird at first to see a name you put in clash with the dialogue. It's a minor gripe though. +Solid voice acting +Adorable Heroines with varying personalities +Hours of branching story +Relatable characters +Nice breezy story (never feels too serious or too ridiculous) +Auto mode text speed isn't slower than molasses (sometimes VN auto text speed is way too slow) it paces well. +Free Patch (It's fine without it) Cons (Keep in mind these are very minor complaints) -Why ask for custom name at the beginning if you aren't planning to use it? -Comrade Comrade Comrade -Soundtrack got old fast for me (I ended up muting it, don't mute the VAs though) -Some of the backgrounds look poorly rendered in full screen. -Sometimes the conversations end up being redundant and feel bloated -MC is pretty oblivious even for harem standards sometimes. A nice relaxing Slice of Life VN filled with cute girls on a tropical island paradise.

I feel like I should cover more routes before I judge this but at the same time I have zero obligation for doing that. This game is what you can see already. Cute summertime harem on a paradise island where everyone lives to be happy. It has exceptional looks and nice a 180* view on sprites and a lot of expressions, coming with an decent OST and really good acting. These are the futures which made me hype and cheer for the game and girls. I don’t like giving out negative reviews but seeing story coming to a rather dull annoyance I can’t stop myself. Eroge scenes might be worth going for with that price, but story is just weak. All we have is generally a medicore slice of life taking part in school. It’s all about trying to get onto the good side of your girl – ignoring all else once you make a choice without consequence. That’s bad. Just by picking something it shouldn’t erase impact from other potential choices. I have to mention choices – these are planned only for picking your girl and that’s it then excitement drops once you conquer her heart. D.S. has zero surprises which would make me like characters more than I already had, they don’t interact with each other enough. I expected nothing more than a just pretty faces smiling and going for me but I still came out disappointed. It deserved a little more story and feels with a little less rush. The potential on making main character seeing happiness level of people around is completely wasted. Dal Segno for a price of over 20$ I see already few better substitutes. Good but not good enough.

Dont buy this game if you want +18 scenes, I couldn't find any +18 patch for the game<if you find patch let me know> other than that the story is literaly, you go to school attempt to save a ai, you are rescued by girl with somewhat red hair, become friends, then your cousing that wants to be your sis or something, you go to school meet the girl with white hair and another one with black hair, you return home all 4 first choices live in the same department, you are selected into a event of choosing a girl?, thats the game, you can skip everything and will not miss that much.

Oh great. A government getting involved with happiness levels. Not a good sign. It has decent writing until it gets to when Atsuya has to select a nominee for the pageant. That is when nearly every other sentence becomes sloppily written. There's (is) birds. Wrong! There are birds. The word 'birds' is plural. This visual novel has interesting characters and concepts, but the story falls flat. I couldn't get the patch to work, so no adult scenes for me. A boring 6 out of 10.

Not as exciting as Army Gals or as erotic as Sakura Swim Club but in its own way as good as these. Not many choices but main character makes good choices on his own. The plots are based on a formula and somewhat repetative. The mindset of the characters reminds me of the 1950's but the setting is the future. Even with the adult patch it is not porn or violent but not for children. Longer than many v.n. stories so no complaint there. The stories are sweet without over doing it. Art follows Japanese conventions. ( overly round heads--saucers for eyes--nose only visible in profile--Barbie doll proportions) Worth the money in my opinion.

A truly delightful and happy visual novel. Every character was likeable and had depth, including a good male 'sidekick' character who deserves his own story with his antics and true friendship that develops over the game. The music was beautiful and fit the game perfectly, with some memorable and catchy tracks I'd love to get as an OST. The game does have sad parts and made me tear up a few times, but on the whole the stories are refreshingly light and wholesome. Kazana Island itself does seem like a literal paradise when you play this game, it made me long for it to be real (hot weather all year round but with island-wide temperature control light balls... yes please!) I played this game as a unicorn chaser after playing some depressing games and it worked perfectly. It's hard not to feel happy when playing this game, in a pure and almost teenager like way. It makes you appreciate the good things in life, shows how wonderful the world and its people can be and brings a smile to your face as you form genuine bonds on the island where no one is unhappy. I would highly recommend this game!

Dal Segno is a cliched and simple yet sweet story about finding happiness. This novel has a great cast of characters with really developed quirks even if some of them are way out there. The five love interests can be summed up as an Ojou-san, a Demon Lord, an Ai, a schizophrenic, and an Alabama syndrome. Now although every characters besides the PC have really strong personalities, it felt as if that was the extent of who they were which did not make me feel closer to them in the end. Although the main theme of Dal Segno is searching for happiness I only really felt that in the Bonus Ame route while the rest of the routes were more focused on the heroine and a random mental issue that pops up due to a lack of communication. Of course after such random issue happens it gets solved after learning the powers of talking about your problems. Even though the plots were simplified they were all still a good read except for Noeri route which I think was just poorly written and her mental issues just straight made me hate her as a character. The story being the main focus of Dal Segno doesnt take away from the great art work and the nice soundtrack. I think that for such an old novel it is still a really good read and I could recommend it to people.

Dal Segno is a decent moege, a little above 5/10, so, 6. Instead of the non-plot of things like Making*Lovers, we have some drama here. The common route is articulated around a Christmas beauty pageant (the game is set in December, but in this setting it's summerish thanks to technology and blah blah) that the MC is asked to enter (with a girl). So, we will choose one of the 4 first batch heroines (before the true heroine) as candidate. If you're thinking this is pretty boring, it's because it is. So, the meat is in the routes themselves. The MC isn't much to write home about, either. He's grumpy even though he's living in supposed paradise, and won't think much of the heroines until, *flip* he falls in love with them with short notice. Our heroines are: - Noeri: she's your cousin, so it's inspired in sister routes. She's a deredere and klutzy, but very cute. She and the MC have been together for a long time, and now share their life on Kazana Island, the game's setting. Since she's his cousin, she has doubts about whether she'll be romantically accepted. The MC also tries to remark their distance time and time again, until he finally falls in love with her. The drama here is really silly and half-finished. 4/10 at best. The girl is cute but they don't do anything interesting with her. At least it's quick. I'd say, play it first. - Io: she's a weirdo girl who fancies herself a witch, or demon offspring, or whatever. Her drama is decent but not great, and it gets resolved pretty quickly. But she's a cutie above all. They still could have done better with her; the drama feels like it could have been more. So, 5 or 6/10. Also, a little warning: her
only penetrative H scene has the MC cum outside...
She can be considered a tsundere, especially with certain reactions she has. - Himari: probably the second most important girl after [true heroine]. Again, her drama is very hit-or-miss, but some elements are beautiful. This warranted a longer story though. Again, it appears at the eleventh hour and is cleared quickly, but with a good climax. I'd award it a 6/10 because of the good points. - Hazuki: she could be a nice mysterious heroine, if her story wasn't that bad. They pull the oldest and lamest trick in the book for the drama. And it's bad. 3/10 - The true heroine: It feels like pursuing a girl way out of your league, except feelings are reciprocated here. It can be beautiful for some people, but it ends badly and unfulfillingly. 5/10 - Extra route: isn't even a route. 2/10 Dal Segno is easy to read, but it brings very little that can be considered special to the table. If you're big on moege, your opinion might be different... or not.

First of all, I'd like to share my thoughts about the routes themselves: I chose to read Hazuki's route first in Dal Segno. It was a lot better than I expected to be honest, but before that, the common route was also a lot of fun. The characters were all really fun to interact with, even the MC isn't terrible. The only "issue", or rather, just something I noticed I have with the MC is that the way his mood changes 30 times a minute is quite something, but I went through puberty too, so it's not like I can't relate. So about her route. I've read a few reviews which included opinions about the routes specifically as well. Some liked it, some less so. The first hour or so was very repetitive and I didn't really know what to think. It wasn't getting to the point where it was boring, but I really didn't expect things going down that route. It was a bit frustrating more than anything. But then it turned out to be a genuinely interesting story with a slight mystery regarding Hazuki herself and from that point I was fully invested. The only real issue I have is how repetitive it felt without much actually happening, but in retrospect, I feel like it was also a bit necessary. The route was short as it is (it took me 4 hours), so it wasn't a dealbreaker to me, the mystery itself was also pretty deep and Hazuki turned out to be a lot more interesting character than I initially thought which is always good. So overall, I'm satisfied. It wasn't super amazing, but this definitely wasn't some kind of lower quality stuff I was led to believe and expected. Pleasant surprise. Io's route: Io herself is a ton of fun and her interactions with the MC are never boring. She's definitely interesting and absolutely adorable to boot. Despite of how she's basically a chuuni, she's a lot more down to earth than you'd think. She's not someone who's shy about who she is, or just in general, in fact, she embraces her persona completely. I absolutely loved the scene where some kids made fun of her, but it wasn't just that she didn't mind and ignored them. She engaged and interacted with them in a way, that the kids ended up liking her and were impressed by her. I have nothing, but respect towards Io and so far she might be my favorite, even though both Hazuki and Noeri are strong contenders with their own strenghts. The way her relationship developed with the MC felt very natural and very cute, I felt pretty much the same as the MC most of the time. They had a pretty uniqe chemistry, despite speaking basically different "language", they understood each other well, mainly thanks to his adaptibility. My only issue is how the main drama had basically no build up like in Noeri's and Hazuki's route, but the route's main theme did come across, so that's good. It just feels weird that during the 6,5 hours I've spent reading, the main drama started and ended in 30-35 minutes. I don't think it needed to be any longer, but it definitely needed at least some build up. A bit of a lesser issue is, that we can only guess what her "cleansing" was about. I won't say much else here because of spoilers. Noeri's route: It has a genuinely great theme about how important communication truly is and why it's important. Sure, it's pretty repetitive at times, even more so than Hazuki's route (well, it's about 75% longer than Hazuki's route, it took me about 7 hours to finish Noeri's compared to Hazuki's 4 hours), but I did appreciate a lot of the small things. The confession scene was clichéd and you could see it coming from a mile, but it was executed well. There were someone who complained about how quick and easy the solution was to the main issue. That was kind of the whole point, but I won't spoil anything here. The small banters between the Noeri and the MC never got old, it was always cute and entertaining and they had a really good chemistry, which I somewhat felt lacking in Hazuki's route. Also I got a severe case of diabetis from Noeri but that's okay. I really liked it, not just because how the main theme close with me. And while I wouldn't rate this route super high, it's definitely above average at worst and I personally consider it simply a good one which is all I want to ask for. Himari's route: Himari, herself is great, near 10/10 heroine, just like pretty much everyone in this VN. She's super fun, great chemistry with the MC, they seem like they were literally made for each other. They are almost too perfect together, if anything, but I don't view it as a bad thing. Their random conversations made me smile a lot, it was just a joy to read. I have zero complaint about either Himari or the actual romance. The main theme is about loneliness and what happens when it completely overwhelms you. Of course, if you know the other main theme in the game which is present in every route, you know that's not 100% everything, but I'm not gonna spoil it. It was executed fairly well and the message had weight. It wasn't as sudden like in Io's route either, it had proper build up. With that said, personally, I feel very weird about this one. I'd have to go into heavy spoiler territory if I wanted to explain, so I have to leave it vague. Normally I don't like it when the story tries to over-explain everything, but here, I felt like there were some small -, to me at least - important little pieces missing. Perhaps I'm overthinking it though. It's not like I didn't like the route, from a writing perspective I think this one's still the best so far, even couting my own subjective view. Just like in the previous routes I played, I felt like the plot itself was secondary and the characters were the real showcase. In that respect, Himari's route especially is great. Ame's route: I think Ame is a good character. She's not just a one-dimensional stereotype, she has a lovable personality and she's pretty mysterious. That mystery however is mostly left untouched, you'd expect something more behind her, but it's pretty much all there is, or at least, that's what we are led to believe, which is unfortunate. As a characer, I think she's below the other 4 main heroines, but like I said, I still consider her good. Her route however I feel like is the best. It tackles a pretty complex theme about happiness and it's executed well. Normally I heavily dislike endings like the one this route has, but it was kinda fitting and almost necessary to fully explore the theme. (With that said, I still don't quite like it.) The D.S. Ending was basically a nice addition to Ame's route, I don't have much else to say about it. There is nothing inherently wrong with Dal Segno. The writing is pretty good for the most part, the characters stand out, the routes are all okay as well. I think if there's any issue, then it's with the reader, like myself. It doesn't really explore anything unique with its routes, it feels like "more of the same" like a lot of romance/comedy/slight drama VNs. If you're still new to VNs, especially to the genre, it's a really good piece to read. But if you're the same as me, who read at least 30-40 VNs one after another from this same genre, it doesn't bring too much new to the table. Depending on your expectations however, it doesn't mean this is a bad thing necessarily. The main drama in the routes usually doesn't last very long, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your taste. There are some above average routes, like Ame's and Himari's and some more forgettable ones, like Io's. In all cases however the girls alone are a good enough reason to keep reading. It was a lot better than I initially thought. People doesn't recommend this a whole lot and I can see why. But for at least I can personally recommend it for the lovers of the genre and for those who want to get into it while not wanting to raise the bar too high right off the bat. It was a good read!

The main selling point of this VN are the CGs, they're the best quality I've ever seen, I rewatched them on the extras menu lots of times, a real pleasure to the eyes. Everything else is pretty good too, no disappointments, and meeting the daughter of darkness was well worth on its own, she's really something else.

Beautiful Story Amazing Artwork Living Character An underrated VN that translates stunning storyline into words and scenes. It has 7(6?) different endings and every single route is a must play. It's also fair to say to that player needs be emotionally prepared before encountering an unexpected turning point. Some parts can be a little cringy but still sweet to read. This VN is remarkably memorable even after finish the entire story. I would love to see how the second of this serie turns out to be (D.S.I.F). Just a fair waning that don't read the description of the second volume before finsihing the first one. (I know there are almost few to none people as stupid as me to read it beforehand and got a little spoiler, but still). If you don't mind the price and have some spared time to enjoy a beautiful story, this one has its potential. Farewell, comrades.

A wonderful VN for all Da Capo (D.C.) Lovers (Anime and Visual Novel included). A Slice of life like Circus know how to do it. Pros (+): - Beautiful Art - Ost that stuck in our heads (The best one is Himari and Ame). Cons (-): - Some plots lines less interesting than other (Go with Himari or Ame).

This is a visual novel with (for the first four playthroughs) only 4 binary choices. If you play without skippng, expect a couple of hours of reading for a couple of hours before the first choice. And a couple more hours of text after that. i personally didn't find the story text very gripping. Almost all of the game's size is voice acting (Japanese only, so I cannot judge the quality), as almost all the rest is typical vn with very few sceneries, paper doll overlays and a few different facial expressions. if you get the adult only patch, you get a handful of stills. No animations. But a huge patch due to all the talking. Man, if my rl girlfriends talked this much, I'd die from boredom before hitting first base. If you play through it four times and make the (obvious) choiices to pick a different girl each time, and let's be honest, you're going to skip the text, even unread one, after the first playthrough, you get to unlock a bonus girl. Which is quite underwhelming. As a VN, I'd rate this 2/10. Way too much talk witth nothing said. You can read through this without ever feeling happy, sad or worried, which is a feat in itself. As fanservice, I'd rate it 2/10. The few romantic episodes are unimpressive. If you are into long VNs with lots and lots of talk, get "If my heart had wings" instead. it has far more emotional content, plot, and care for the characters. The only ones I could recommend this to are those who understand Japanese voice, and prefer VNs where the protagonist never has to face any real issues or make diffiicult choices. This is a fidget spinner of a game.

such a shame dal segno is great and honestly i rated it high on vndb but like usual they screw the translation over. while it might just differ a little bit from the jp and i know its not easy to be true to the original and sometimes we need to improvise so it fit the english word perfectly but it still pissing me off when the actual conversation use meter and they just convert it to feet. update : i retract my point where the translation is a bit off, they fuck with names it was honestly unforgivable. i know MG doesnt care to their VN translation but i didnt think it was this bad.

Definitely get it on sale - $40 might be a little steep, but this one is a gem! It's before the live-2D, but the creators used varied sprites enough that it isn't super static, and the story goes off into directions I didn't expect... I read negative reviews and was hesitant. I'm glad I paid them no mind, this one's a more casual slice-of-life story, and for once I found a route that didn't feel forced - it didn't seem like "guy A" saying things; it lined up with some of my way of thinking at least for some things. And that does not happen often... So I must recommend it. 10/10 would fall in the water again - you'll see.

Very good VN but unfortunately lacks some detalization in CG and every single route is almost the same:
pageant, date in the beach, regular date, some more events and then a trouble in relationship between Atsuya and selected girl
. Ame route is the best. Scored: 8/10

Another great premium quality VN, this one doesn't disappoint. Excellent and cute character design, a great story, and some sci-fi elements sprinkled in. Lo was my favorite girl by far, but the other heroines were amazing too. The only route I really didn't like was Ame, because I think it's unrealistic and stupid to
fall in love with a computer program / hologram that doesn't have a physical body.
All in all it was a very enjoyable, high quality read.
